There is some chatter about Weis possibly being considered for the HC of the Bills. I also don't think he would cross Belicheck for a Jets OC position if he has other options (which he will). A lot of convincing posts on Callahan as a strong option - track record, stability of already being in the current regime, and the obvious impact he has had on the OL.

so this is very interesting in that i haven't considered starting over from scratch. which i just thought about we migh tas well as get charlie" can't coach notre dame" weis. he's done a great job with some QBs that he's had. brady, quinn, and clausson( at the collegiate level). so i believe bringing him in would help develope sanchez greatly.

"I have been begging them to run screens and they just will not do it. My question is why?"

I have seen him run those plays a few times it offten ended with the DE getting a pick 6 . He cant execute effectively .

Not sure why they just dont get the guy more practice on those throws . those would be great plays for him .

Mr. T (teflon) loves Schotty, so dont be surprised to see him stick around despite it making no sense whatsoever.

Just because it is obvious to everyone does not mean the Jets will pull the trigger.

Woody hates spending money on coaches yet gave an extension to this guy for absolutely no reason with a logical replacement under contract.

Mr. T practically begged the guy to stay while touting him as an offensive genius, how does he turn around and tell Woody the guy sucks one year later? This will be a real test of his teflonitis.

Woody's going to need a push to let him go, perhaps the blogosphere can provide that push because I doubt it is coming from the GM.

As for a replacement, if they hire someone other than Callahan they will regret it.

Weiss makes no sense, last thing we need is another Mr T buddy from the bellicheat branch of the Parcels tree.

REX needs to hire his own OC with a similar vision, I believe Callahan is that guy.

Schott couldn't coach a veteran (Favre), can't coach a rookie (Sanchez) and never developed Clemens. It is time to send this loser packing.

Anyway we can send Woody The Weasel packing?

Stupidest thing ever giving the guy an extension after bringing in a new HC that is the POLAR OPPOSITE from the last guy who hired Schotty in the first place.

I like Jim Zorn as a coordinator, maybe not a HC, but I think he could do some nice things here if he got a shot

Considering Schottenheimer has constant delusions of being aggressively sought after as a HC, I'd say the chances of him accepting a demotion lie between slim and none.

"Schottenheimer, 35, had one year left on a contract that paid him roughly $1.5 million this upcoming season. It's believed he received a two-year extension that'll bump his salary to nearly $2 million in 2009"

http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2009/01/schottenheimer_signs_an_extens.html

A two-year extension (plus raise) to the one year remaining on the contract means that Woody would be on the hook for $4 million of dead offensive coordinator money if Schottenheimer was replaced at the end of the season.

Perhaps they might decide to make him want to leave by curtailing his play calling responsibilites. But what other team would leap at the chance to hire him (as an offensive coordinator)?

So, either a buy-out or treating him like former defensive coordinator Bob Sutton. Instead of firing Sutton with time left on his contract, he was kept on as "Senior Defensive Assistant/ linebackers" (according to the April '09 Eric Allen story).

Sutton was willing; I have no idea if Schottenheimer would accept the demotion.

I'd say it is really on Rex Ryan to see what is going on with the offense and do something about it.
