Thanks to S-Dubb and SoRealSoJets at NYJetsFan.com for alerting me to such magnificence. And thanks especially to espnscfrk for a fantastic editing job. The requiem music is always a welcomed addition.
I dare you not to get chills.
One very sad thing stood out to me while watching this video, though. The absences of Kris Jenkins and Leon Washington really took a toll on this team’s potential. The Jets are still No. 1 in rushing and total defense without them, but I challenge you to think of games that would’ve turned out differently with the lost Pro Bowlers.
I’m no gambling man, but I’d wager my savings that Joseph Addai’s 21-yard TD in Indy doesn’t happen if Kris Jenkins is clogging the middle. Imagine how many interceptions Sanchez wouldn’t have if he had Leon roaming the flats on screen passes.
It’s bittersweet though. The team is playing ridiculously well without them. To still rank at the top is a testament to the scheme and the depth’s ability to step up. And, admittedly, depth was a personal concern heading into the season.
To be 60 minutes away from a playoff berth without two integral players only gives an even brighter outlook for the future. The Jets have the potential to be scary good once Rex and Tannenbaum can get back to building their team in this aggressive image.

forgive me if I quote the best player to ever play in the Stadium where we have happened to play our non-road games for the past 26 seasons…….BUT LET’S GO OUT THERE LIKE A BUNCH OF CRAZED DOGS!!!!
The core of this team is in their 3rd & 4th years: Brick, Mangold, Leon, Revis, Harris……time to make some noise in January!
Chills? I’m shaking with anticipation for this game. That video montage really brings home the notion of what type of team we can be if we play within our selves. Lets show the world on Sunday night what we are capable of. If the Bengalis rest their starter, their scared of us, that’s what I think. That’s right, I said it, their F@#$%^$ cowards, leading their lams to slaughter. So what do we do then? Break out the holiday sauce and have some veal.
Gotta love Rex.
I might be setting myself up for the same’ol Jets let down but thnigs feel different. I’ve been a JETS fan for over 15 years and the direction we are going seems like nothing before. A hard nose coach looking to make his mark, star QB in the making, D first/Run the ball approach. Getting knocked down and getting up feel of the team. I just feel the next decade is going to good for the NYJETS.
well that was inspirational. lets get er done.
who’s going to the game?
this game on sunday the jets are going to come out crazy though i hope Sanchez is practicing in 5 degree whether cause its going to be cold sunday night but i believe they will be pumped up and the defense will score and shut out the bengals after a few plays they will give in and just prepare for the playoffs jets win 17-0i will also be there.in the noise bleed area so lets go jets we all will play this game tes even the fans will play a big role in this game
I could run through a wall after that, I am so ready for Sunday.
Great job on the video.
GO JETS!!!!!!!!!!!!! who dey going to beat those Bengals? The Jets that’s who!!!
Jets 24
Bengals13
well done. Thanks.
Love it! Highlight of the season for me will be the Pats game where the stadium was just shaking from the J E T S cheers. Get this damn tape to the team and have them watch it the night before the game. Fans are still behind you 100%, don’t let us down! J E T S JETS JETS JETS!!
The place is going to explode when they announce the 2002 team that won the division at halftime and Dave Szott comes waltzing out as the representative. Huh?
The year of the spike play is Dwayne White? Who?
Hopefully they announce these guys in reverse order, saving Klecko and Harper for the end so they can lea a j-e-t-s… also puts Jenkins and Leon first… but they’ll probably do it in chrono order so the 2009 Jets come out last.
Why isn’t this PREGAME. Halftime is so limited and too many people go to the bathroom.
I am not properly motivated to run through a brick wall.
Is it Sunday yet?
Gotta love it!…
anybody else notice Rex seems to have put on a bunch since that first presser.
Hopefully, after we have played over the next few weeks, Rex can kick back and work on those pounds.
Hey Rex, we need you next year and the year after that and…..
and after last Sunday’s other games fell into place:
GO JETS…”TEAM OF DESTINY !”
lol…. After getting way too fired up my girl said….OMG its only Thursday
wow. chills.
23 years of being a jets fan, the only videos i’ve seen tend to be same old jets crap. we need more of this stuff.
“Same Old Jets” is the longest running soap opera on TV.
Each season we tune to in to root for our favorite stars as they heroically work their asses off toward a common goal, their Holy Grail, trying to break the curse with a glorious return to the Super Bowl.
The SOJ stars are almost always well cast, terrific, selfless, wholesome, hard working citizens, easy to root for in their quest. The skilled front office assures this by immediately terminating the contract and writing out of next seasons plot anyone that goes off script by causing trouble, no matter how talented they may be.
We follow our stars through the long NFL season, the draft, training camp, preseason (even the Bollinger Bowl), the 16 game regular season hoping all the while the show will be extended a few weeks into the playoffs, a wish that is granted about every three years. Once eliminated we start to analyze the following season immediately upon release of next years opponents.
We are hooked, 365 days a year.
Sure, like all TV shows some seasons are great theatre and other pure clunkers, but even in those clunker seasons true SOJ fans watch every game hoping to find the silver lining.
Out of the darkness of Kotite and 1-15 emerged Wayne Chrebet. Mangini’s 2007 debacle brought us Leon Washington.
We follow the ups, the downs, the injuries, the mistakes, the signs of greatness, the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. Every season it seems, we ride the emotions of our heroes while all the while realizing the cruel fate that awaits, the inevitable, SOJ plot twist that is heading right at us in the final episode. Pure soap opera.
That time is upon us, so what will it be this week folks?
Will we win this one and be nationally ridiculed for backing into the playoffs? Even when we win we lose?
Or will the SOJ reaper not even allow us that stroke of fortune, raising up from the grave and snatching defeat from victory like the evildoer it truly is?
Will it arrive in the form of Herm Edwards, the Miracle at the Meadowlands redux, a fumble by T Jones returned seventy yards for a game winning TD by some third string rookie free agent safety destined one day to coach our team?
Or will he instead morph into the parasitic Sperm Edwards, infesting Rex Ryan brain at the worst time with horrible clock management and conservative play calling, settling for a potential game winning 46 yard Jay Feely FG rather than getting extra yardage on a cold windy night, which of course falls one yard short?
Or will Vernon Gholston catch Eric Barton disease, and be so excited to be anywhere near the QB on a blitz that he simply forgets to stop at the whistle, incurring a critical 15 yard roughing the passer penalty which prolongs a game winning Bengals drive?
Or will Lavernues Coles call for a fake spike after Ocho Cinco steps out of bounds on the one while prematurely beginning his O-C-H-O chant?
Or will Rex Ryan punch Brian Shottenheimer after he calls yet another ridiculous “double reverse flip the ball in the air” play that loses twenty yards when they are already in FG position to win the game?
Or, could it be, the curse leaves the Jets with the destruction of this old stadium, being forever transferred to the hated Giants effective last week?
Could it be? The curse is over? An unfathomable run to the Super Bowl awaits our heroes?
Not. Its still out there, already roaming the bowls of the stadium, scheming, planning, its cruelest twist yet, the grand finale worthy of a national television audience.
Its coming right at you, be afraid, very afraid.
I Think Im In Love, Can I Marry This Thing Or Do I have To Go Deeper Down South?
terrific….simply terrific
Going to be in section 320 something in row 7…. Can’t wait!!! We are going to make that stadium louder than the pats game!!!
Let’s go Jets!!!!!!!
This is the biggest game in years.A win woukd make like everything is going in the right direction.
These aren’t the SOJ. I see a casual 200 yard rushing day similar to last week’s with both our bulls in the backfield putting up close to 100 yards. Those Bengal subs wanna go all out trying to play spoiler? A healthy dose of Shonn Greene the War Machine will certainly make them slow down their attack. If Marvin Lewis decides to put Palmer (Carson, not his mini-me) back there to try and keep from playing us in the playoffs, then Rex will have the defense serving up tiger meat by the 2nd quarter. This game is giong to be the Pats game pt. 2. If Jets’ Stadium had a roof, this week it would be blown off.
Brendan i think they really are going to do it. And really give us something to get excited about next year.
I find it amazing how little sports shows talk about that the jets lost jenkins and washington. When osi went down it was mentioned every sunday. Complete bs.
I’ll have chills when Dave Szott is announced as the representative for the 2002 team at the half.
Best part is when the music quiets down and Danny Dierdof says…..single coverage on the WR…thats the good news…… the bad news for the Raiders…..its D Revis!!
That may be the only time I haven’t wanted to kill a person when Dierdorf spoke.
Wow that video just pumped me up like never before! Let’s get this win sunday! GO JETS!!!!!
Totally agree Brendan…. I have to give Dierdorf credit though. He was on the Revis bandwagon early in the season…. He didnt jump on after week 11. He is brutal in the booth but he always gave Revis his due
Hate highlights from a loss just reminder of what couldve been
Goddam it WOJF, what the hell is wrong with you? Can’t you be positive for once!? Jeez, did you even look at the video?
Smamik, this was a piece of black humor creative writing done last night and posted on the first thread this morning. Could it have been placed better, yes.
I watched the video, it was ok but did not give me chills. A victory Sunday will give me chills.
Bone-chilling. We have so much going for us, we have to win this game, and we will win this game. No doubt in my mind.
Very nice! I can’t wait for Sunday!!!
major chills LETS DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
J! E! T! S!
JETS JETS JETS
HOLY ****….Not only does that video give me chills and chokes me up but its been so long since I loved a Jets team like the one we have right now. There is nothing else in the sports world that I care about. I am a Yankee fan and I could care less that they won the Series, I wanna see Rex take a frozen Gaterade bath!!!!!
This Sunday is going to be one of those games where I am going to be watching in my authentic Revis jersey in my basement with the heavy bag. Just like Rocky in Rocky 5…
WOJF
The Stephen King of the Jets Blog….you must be a real hit at parties and with the ladies…ever hear of tact?
That was great! After 40+years of being a fan, I love that we finally have a defense that other fans only wish they had!
I only wish the Ed(itor) could be around to enjoy all this !
:-)
OUR DEFENSE IS AWESOME! THE CRAZY THING IS IT’S GOING TO GET BETTER. WE JUST NEED TO LEARN TO MAKE THOSE STOPS AT THE END OF GAMES! COME ON JETS, NOW IS THE TIME TO GET HOT AND MAKE A RUN! I LIVE IN AZ AND WATCHED THE CARDS DO IT LAST YEAR. GO JETS!

Right on brotha. I was thinking that all season this year, just never posted it here. You are 10000000% right
I sssooo have chills!!! Video made me think of two songs that seem fitting for this team:
All season
CHUMBAWUMBA ( I Get Knocked Down): “I get knocked down! But I get up again! You ain’t never gonna keep me down!”
For Sunday’s game
Tom Petty ( Won’t Back Down): “You can stand me up at the gates of hell but I won’t back down!”
I hope my Jets do what so many teams from the past in every sport have done. Ban together with the “us against the world” mentality, get pissed that everybody is disrespecting you, that every so called expert thinks you are a joke and go on a unbelievable run! KICKING @$$ AND TAKING NAMES!! TMIE TO DESTROY!!
J-E-T-S! JETS! JETS! JETS! GO JETS!!!
Section 115, see y’all there!
That was great. It has me fired up for Sunday night for sure. I hope that Rex show the team such a motivating highlight clip.
Section 134 row 41, screaming my head off. In the frezzing cold, gota love it. Purchased one single ticket, wouldn’t miss this for the world Go jets. Were is Fireman Ed’s section located to mine?
Thank you guys so much for your kind words on my video! Especially thanks to Angel, I’ve looked around jets boards all throughout the internet since i put this video up and Angel, you are the first person to give me credit on my work. I wish I could be at this game on Sunday! Thanks Guys!
