It’s a tall order against this team … so .. do you believe?
Thanks to commenter ganggreen4ever for the suggestion.

I believe, if we don’t who will??
-
You Gotta Believe!
-
like i said last week….. if we play smart and don’t turn it over, and if we put rivers on the ground, we keep playing…… hell yes, i believe.
-
I believe, because I believe in our new head coach and the direction he is taking our team. He is forcing us to believe.
-
It all comes down to Sanchez, if he plays like last week we win!
-
So yes, I believe!!!
-
Abso-freakin’-lutely!
I can’t explain it, but somehow this all feels different this time, like I’m rooting for another franchise altogether. Even if they lose on Sunday, this is not the SOJ.
I say we win, win big and get to watch the tears stream out from under LT2′s visor. 31-14 Jets this week, another win next week, and it’s on to MIAMI. That’s right — just like the Big Man has drawn it up! In Rex We Trust. Why not us? SUPER BOWL CHAMPS, BABY!
Yeah, I said it! Now who’s with me?!!!!! J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS!!!!!
-
yes. but dont forget what we all said —
this is gravy.
-
This is how I’ve always dreamed it would be. A good HC we can believe in, a dynamic QB who makes it exciting, and a ferocious defense. But the one thing I have always dreamed of is for respect! And now I feel like we finally have it.
-
I want to believe, and I am getting there for two reasons:
1. Herm is not the HC
2. Mangenious is not the HCI hope to go through the full religious conversion to believer status sometime Sunday afternoon, with the help of a microbrew product.
-
BELIEVE IN THE CHEESE!!!!!!
-
in Rex I trust.
we are playing with house money at this point. sitting at 7-7 I was just hoping we could play well in the last 2 games, regardless of the outcome, and have sanchez build some momentum for 2010. this has far exceeded my expectations and who knows, maybe the stars are aligned
regardless of the outcome, i have been rooting for this team for 20 years and dont remember feeling better about the future of the team / organization.
-
I believe we can win, because I trust them. I trust that Rex and co. will come up with a good defensive strategy to subdue the Chargers enough to control their offense. I trust that Mark has settled into a role in the offense and will let Shonn and TJ open up the passing game for him. That said, this is set up to be one hell of a game.
J! E! T! S! JETS! JETS! JETS!
-
How can you not believe? This team is headed in the right direction, with a hard playing, tough-as-nails team that reflects the persona of it’s head coach. The Jets are relevant, not 2nd class citizens in their own city anymore, and are generating a true buzz (that’s well deserved). #1 rushing team? #1 defensive team overall? Sanchez maturing before our eyes?
WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND DOESN’T BELIEVE IN THIS TEAM?
-
Hell ya I believe. This is the playoffs, throw out the regular season. It comes down to who can impose their will on the other team and with the way the Jets are playing lately they can do this.
I believe, more importantly the Jets believe.
-
I believe. We need Kerry Rhodes to step up big time and blanket Gates like he did Gonzalez in the ATL game (that last TD drive excepted). Revis will do his thing, and Malcolm Floyd on the other side doesn’t scare me. I am concerned about Sproles leaking out in space and making a few big plays, but we shouldn’t expect a shutout.
If we succeed on Sunday I think it will be more about our O than our D – that SD defense is very beatable. If we run at 4+ yards a clip and control the clock, make a few big plays in the passing game (Braylon, earn your check), and protect the football, we win.
-
also i think that the team senses the opportunity to RUN the city for a few weeks. giants are on the golf course, mets/yanks are silent until spring training. knicks/nets are their typical terrible selves. really the only thing on the sports landscape is the amazing year the devils are stringing together and even so, they definitely fly under the radar
i think the team smells blood in the water and wants to own NYC for the winter…
-
i do i do i doooooo believe…. this is a bad matchup fr the chargers
-
I believe. How can you not? We look good and our rookie, warm weather QB went into fridgid, enemy territory and walked out with a win. We have a really chance and even if we did lose this is great experience for all of the young guys on this team.
Got to love it!!!!
-
I Believe!!!!!
I Believe!!!!!How can I not. Rex has our Jets doing the unthinkable since Atlanta. And every thing fell our way the way we needed.
I absolutely believe.
-
I believe! Putting money on my team (never a good idea)
-
Not only do I bleed green & white but I BELIEVE Green & White!
-
Yeah, I believe we can this. The odds are against us and very few think we can do it, but if we play our game, we win. Also, as pointed out here many times, we need to put Rivers on his back early. Doesn’t even need to be a sake, just a real hard hit.
-
Damn straight we believe. This what happens in the playoffs, teams get hot and start coming together at the right time. i feel like right now we’re firing on all cylinders and we will continue to roll through the Chargers this weekend.
-
Its going to be a real tough game, but HELLS YES you gotta believe there’s no point in being a JETS fan if you don’t believe!! They maybe the favorites but the JETS got the MOMENTUM right now…J-E-T-S…
-
Rex Ryan has played this perfectly; us against the world…we don’t get no respect….we don’t deserve to be here (the pundits). He has our team believing that we are a damn good football team and we should win the game.
As a Hurricane alumni, I have seen the “get no respect” card played over and over again throughout the years; and you know what: IT WORKS !
The Jets believe..so therefore I believe.
Open up the Meadowlands: Jets Vs. Ravens next week… -
It is most definitely a tall order, and San Diego, IMHO, is far and away the best and most complete team we have faced this year. I think it will be tough for Rivers to throw TD passes against us (we’ve only given up 8 in 17 games), which means they will have to run the ball in then red zone to score TD’s, something I don’t think they’ll be able to do. If we can hold them to mostly field goals, we’ll have them right where we want them.
Close game, our running game dominates a gassed SD defense in the 4th quarter…23-20 Jets.
-
I believe Jets have a decent chance to pull the upset. 4 weeks ago Cincy went into SD with the # 2 seed on the line and they almost took the lead late in the 4th. If we can ground and pound with 0 turnovers we have a 50 50 shot
-
Im nervous but definitly believe we can do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just want it to start already……….
-
I’ve been watching this team for a while and I’ve refrained from posting for quite some time…….but yes I mos def believe!!! JETS 28- Chargers 24. Game ends with a Revis pick showing who the Defensive Player Of The Decade is going to be!!!
-
As a dieheart Jets and Mets fan, you have to believe in your team. I will always believe the Mets and Jets are the best team because they are my team. I will always cheer for them, through good times and bad times!
That being said, Let’s go JETS!!!!
-
Believe what?
That the Jets are good enough to win? or that the Jets WILL win?
The definition of belief is to have confidence in something happening without any real proof (knowing the future). I would say everyone here falls into that category in the prior question. We all have confidence that is is possible. To say you are confident the Jets WILL win without any knowledge of the future makes no sense.
It’s just varying degrees of confidence. We all believe.
So the real question is: How confident are you? I’m at 50-50.
-
Im confident because we have Rex Ryan, plain and simple.
Darrelle Revis doesnt hurt my confidence either.
-
Why Not Us?
-
And the oddsmakers have it as 33-67 Jets winning. So 50-50 is more confident than the betting public. Probably not as high as some of you guys….
-
Of course. A lot bigger upsets than this have happened – anyone who doesn’t believe doesn’t deserve to call themselves a fan (which is in fact short for “fanatic”).
-
Greg – I look at the question as “Do you believe that we can win this game”?
-
I have been a season ticket holder for 27 years, as many have said—I believe because this is a new era for the JETS. In one short year King Rex has turned this franchise around. He has instilled a new attitude that says we can win. I trust that he and his staff will have put in place the right game plan to beat the Bolts.
I believe because I have not shaved since before Cincy1 and I don’t expect to shave till after the SB.
-
Rex Ryan has turned me into a believer. He has brought the confidence we never had before and put together an aggressive and exciting team. I also have the lucky JETS Snuggie ready to go for Sunday so that will help as well.
-
YOU GOTTA BELIEVE!!!
-
I MORE than believe..I’m gonna go as far to say that this game won’t even be close…Jets 27 SD 7
AND
2 pick 6′sWhos with me?!?!
-
NYC Parking Expert — I can’t imagine a scenario where someone definitively says no to that question. Not just Jet fans, but anyone in the world. Even if it is 1 in 100, you believe it can happen. The varying degrees of belief and confidence is what interests me.
-
I believe Jets have a decent chance to pull the upset. 4 weeks ago Cincy went into SD with the # 2 seed on the line and they almost took the lead late in the 4th. If we can ground and pound and get 6 instead of 3 in the redzone with 0 turnovers then I like our chances. Even if Chargers are successful on O they still will have problems in the rezone with a limited field and Jets exotic def schemes
-
Hell Yes.
-
Don’t we always believe? Why the hell not.
Let’s Go Jets!
-
3 points not many people realize:
1) The Chargers are in the bottom of the league in rushing defense, even though they usually force the opposing teams to throw it (because of their big lead) so they’re rushing defense is even worse than the stats indicate.
2) If Baltimore and the Jets lose this week, our coaching staff will be the ones coaching the pro bowl. Dont underestimate this. Some of the leagues elite players will see how much fun it is to play with Rex Ryan at HC and will want to join our team.
3) Some people are complaining about the new CBA that wont allow the top 8 teams to sign new free agents unless they lose a FA of equal value. What people dont understand is that when this season is over, we would have made 2 huge acquisitions already – Kris Jenkins & Leon Washington. -
For ticket holders…
How much more intense is the game gonna be if the Ravens pull the upset Saturday night?!?! It will be insane watching the Jet game, knowing whats at stake AND that we could be HOSTING the AFC Champ. game!! SPREAD SOME BELIEF FOR THE RAVENS!!
-
I believe. It wouldn’t shock me if the JETS were to beat a great team in the regular season, or in the post-season (it also didn’t surprise me that they lost to the Bills, LOL).
Anyway, this damned team can beat any team in the league IF they put together a performance like last week, except for the failure to stop the run.
I have faith. We all should. Sure, it might not be more likely than not that they win, and it might be legitimate for San Diego to be favored … but if you think the players in San Diego don’t know that they’re playing a legitimate threat this weekend, you’re out of your mind.
The JETS are a threat, and they’re a-comin!
-
Hey, San Diego is a great team. But I abso-freakin’-lutely believe that the Jets can pull this off! Rex Ryan Defense! YEAH YEAH YEAH! JEEEEEEEEETS!!!!!!!!
-
NamVetJet,
By the time we get to the SuperBowl, you should have a full beard.
Do I believe?
-
TJ, Greene, Marky Mark, J-Co, Edwards, T-Rich, The Brick, BMoore, Manny, Fanny, Woody, Deek, B-Smooth, Dub-Dub, Our lil #83, Dearth Vader, See me…Touch me..Feely, Igs, Danny’s Big Little Brother, Big Cat, The Slender, Dougie Fresh, CaPa, Scotty, Harrilicious, BT, God, DL Slot, Shep, Smitty, Rhodes, Little Jimmy Leonard…I believe.
Jenx and LL Cool Wash…it’s not the same without you.
-
namvetjet –
i was going to attempt to not shave, thing is my beard doesnt fully grow yet, so it was like a lot of it and then some patches. it looked scrappy and dirty and as last year, when the rangers were 2-0 and i hadnt shaved for 2 weeks, i shaved… i hope that doesnt get the karma against the jets… i mean last year whne i did that during hte rangers they lost the series 4-3, and they were up 2-0 and then later 3-1. oh well
-
Hey — did anyone hear about Polian’s push to get the Saturday game? It was half to force the team they are playing to have short rest, with them on a bye, but also so they can have an extra day off before next week’s game!
I hope the Ravens know about that, and thank you for the extra day off this week!
-
I can honestly say I have never felt this good about our team! I mean, it felt GREAT in 99 when we finished the regular season strong and then took out Jacksonville in the Divisional round, but even then I don’t think most of us felt like we were firing on all cylinders. Those days, success felt more like a liablity: “don’t blow it or I’ll be devastated”. Today, it is our God-given right to win football games. We should all EXPECT the Jets to win every game they play. I have been around long enough to know they can beat themselves in any number of ways, but I just don’t see the Chargers beating this NY Jets team head to head. Loving every minute of this!
-
I believe!
Where is Hank at? I remember him even saying that he believed before the Falcons fiasco.
I want him to be sharing this playoffs joy with us!
-
I believe because of Revis’ battlecry:
“GO MAKE MORE PLAYS!!!”
Or as he says it: “go make more plays.”Bent –
You’re spot on. Excitement comes easily. Trust is built slowly, over time, with a constructed set of experiences.
I feel the same way as you, to an extent. Where SOJ came from is our propensity to come up with the head-up-the-butt maneuver at the most critical juncture. That’s different from merely getting beaten. It’s self-immolation. A number of times today, people have mentioned Barton’s stupid last-minute hit on Brees in 2005 — that’s a text-book example of SOJ.
Earlier this year I wrote that all I wanted was to be entertained during a game, to feel that we have a fighter’s chance of winning, that my valuable time on Sundays was given for a reason — repaid with a decent chance of a positive return.
From Woody, Tanny & Rex on down, they’ve given us that this year. Every game has meant something. Every play and individual effort was critical to the overall. No one mailed it in (other than Kerry in the middle third of the year, but even he’s come around!) this year. They cared — so we cared.
How tasty is THAT?
So, yes, despite the same trepidation you feel, I’m excited. And I’m excited because I’ve begun to trust these people. Every play now is a learned experience. We’ve learned that we can get through a regular season mostly unscathed. We now know we can win a Wild Card game. We still have to find out if we can win a Divisional game or a SB. We’ll see. But the emotions tell us that it’s becoming possible. Increasingly possible with every day.
Possible is all any fan really wants.
There’s no shame in defeat. Happens every day throughout the world. There is only shame in Regret. Regret that you beat yourself. That the opponent was never forced to raise their game to walk away with a W. That you made it uncannily easy for them. Like the SOJ used to do.
This is different. It looks different; it feels different; it sounds different.
It’s mid-January, and I’m still having a hellava lot of FUN!!! How unusual is THAT for a Jets fan?? We’re usually November and done.
So, yeah, I’m all in. I’ll be right there on the couch, screaming. I believe!
GO JETS!!!!
-
IN REX I BELIEVE
-
IN REX RYAN I TRUST
IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER
THE SON
AND THE HOLY REVISAMEN.
LETS GO JETS!!!!!!!
ALMOST IN TEARS RIGHT NOW. NOT GONNA LET IT OUT UNTIL 430 ON SUNDAY. -
Yes. And even if they don’t win Sunday, I believe in this team’s future.
-
Why is it that I become teary-eyed everytime I see the Jets coming out of the tunnel onto the field?
-
JESUS REVIS,
READ MY QUOTE A FEW BLOGS UP.
I WANT YOU TO HAVE IT. THE REVIS QUOTE. IT’S YOURS BUDY.LET’S GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LETS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
The national media seems to be picking San Diego and thinks it’s such a tall order for New York. The Jets ex-players, local media and fans believe, as do I.
New York Jets Baby!!! All the way!!!
-
David Harris:
I am 61 years old and still can’t grow a full beard. Looks great on the chin—but the rest looks like hell. The great thing is I don’t give a hoot how it looks—trying to grab every piece of Karma that I can get. Made a donation to the Red Cross for Haiti relief—do good things and good things will happen.
-
Alex, thanks buddy.
Sometimes I wonder if I should have copywrited my user name. It seems the term “JesusRevis” is going to become very popular, but I came up with it first.
NamVetJet, who cares how it looks. Keep on doing it. When the Jets win on Sunday, that beard will look beautiful.
-
namvetjet,
yea the chin looks amazing, but then i have 2 random chin spikes, a scrappy moustache, and patchy sideburns. not to mention a mere outline of a gotee. i dont know if they jets win this week i will not shave as the past 2 weeks i have shaved before sunday and this games outcome will be decided on a sunday, so if they manage a win, the playoff beard is coming out, like it or not i will do it for as far as the jets go. here’s to hoping by february 9 ill look like some bum who owns no razor!
-
I believe San Diego is due for a loss
I believe we are peaking.
Im already convinced that Sanchez, Ryan, and Tanny have succeeded. They will lead us to the promised land, its just a question of when. This year sounds good to me!
-
i believe
maybe if we all sent positive vibes to our team they’d win
come on everyone…believe – never say, think or write the phrase same old jets again
love the jets and believe
-
I love the position we are in….you have to believe!!!
These guys are going to play their A@@s off to prove a point. Rex will have them ready .
-
GO MAKE MORE PLAYS!!!!!!!!
-
I believe we’ll do our best on Sunday, and beyond.
I believe that Rex Ryan and Mike Tannenbaum are the best things to happen to the NY Jets Football Club since we were the Titans. And yes, I’m including Super Bowl III.
Mostly, I believe that it’s a great time to be a Jet fan because I believe we’re looking at the Decade of the NY Jets.
-
In Rex I Trust
-
Totally believe. We play smart, mistake free football and this game is ours.
We must also pray for a Colts victory. The Ravens like winter football as much as any team in the league and I don’t yet trust The Kid in a late January Meadowlands.
-
I believe in Rex.
I believe in Revis.
I believe in our D.
I believe in our O line.
I believe in our rushing attack.
I believe in the Jets, now and forever after. Amen.
-
I totally believe….and why shouldn’t we. The Chargers are a great team, but they haven’t faced a team quite like these Jets.
Look at the teams the Chargers defeated over their 11 straight: KC, OAK, NYG, PHI, DEN, KC, CLE, DAL, CIN, TEN, WAS. Against the toughest of these opponents, SD won by less than a 7 point margin (except against PHI which was missing Westbrook).
Besides, it’s like a home game for Sanchez.
If the Jets limit mistakes (meaning no pics Chez and no fumbles Greene and no dropsies Braylon), the Jets should win this game.
-
Hell yeah, I believe.
-
I believe. Why? Because, if you have no faith in the team then why do you watch them play? Is there nothing else you could be doing instead of watching Jet games? I choose to root for the team because I believe in them. I choose to pray for a victory because I am a fanatic of the NYJ. I have a good feeling because…I believe.
-
YES HE DESERVE TO DIE AND I HOPE HE BURNS IN HELL!!
….
wait, oops got a little riled up. I DO believe!
-
I am from San Bernardino Ca(East of L.A.) and yearly would root for the Chargers because they were the closest t team to our teamless area. This year I will have to go against them. I have been following the Jets’ up-and-down season. I liked what I saw for the last two games. I think the Jets now have a quarterback that looks poised and accurate. I believe that the Jets have a good chance of making a run for the whole enchilada(SB). If I think they can go for the big prize then that means I believe they will win this game. Go Jets!
-
I didn’t think I could get more excited for this gam..I was a wreck leading up to the wild card game -and after it was over, I couldn’t stop thinking about San Diego..I believe in this team, I’ve ALWAYS believed in this team. I’m sitting in my office right now, not doing work, reading all of these beautiful posts by all of these beautiful Jet’s fans that BELIEVE! You HAVE to believe in a team that plays with such confidence, charisma, and most importantly – they play as a TEAM. LETS GO JETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I believe. And it’s great to see everyone on here believing, when earlier in the year it was tough….Like Rex says, be proud to be a Jet, and we should be proud to be Jets fans. Lets bring the championship home, boys!
-
Yeah then had a weak schedual…but so did we and we lost games we should not have!!
Do I believe? Well I believe they have a chance, and that’s good enough for me.
-
No matter what happens this season has been a tremendous success. It’s always nice to get a rookie head coach, rookie qb, and rookie hb some playoff experience, especially a positive one! Even if we didn’t actually deserve the playoffs (which in my opinion is complete bs, you get in, you deserved it), we just skipped an entire step. This season was supposed to be “Lets win 7-9 games, see some progress, and hopefully see some positive change”, next season was supposed to be “Lets get into the playoffs and try to win a game”, well 1 year into this new Jets culture, we already have super bowl expectations for the next season. I can’t say enough positives about the direction we’re going in. Add a corner, 1 or 2 pass rushers, and a 1 WR and we are an elite team.
On to the game sunday. I don’t think we are going to win. I think we can win, but I think this might be the end of a great run. Still, we are playing with house money, Sanchez is home, in warm weather, crazier things have happened. Go Jets! and go Ravens!
-
Remember, Rex Ryan, Sanchez and Greene are only getting better.!
-
Welcome Gonzo.
-
You know what I was imagining? I was imagining Sanchez throwing a bomb to Edwards on the first play of the Jets possesion – and have Edwards catch it either in the 5 yard line or in the end zone! What a way to start a running game! Probably won’t happen but boy would that get the brodcasters talking.
-
Not a good idea. We definitely should not try and fight fire with fire. That’s just stupid IMO. The Jets need to do what they do best, and stick to their game. Why try to out gun the best passing team in the game? No, you run, run, run, and run the clock out. The goal here is to keep SD off the scoreboard, and no better way than not letting them touch the ball. The game will be won based on our ability to run, and most importantly eat clock.
-
God I love most of this thread.
I believed they would win every game this year, even before the season. So their is no doubt in my mind, they will win this game.
J! E! T! S! JETS JETS JETS!
btw though, Bill Simmons picked us to win, just for the kiss of death. What a clown.
-
Simmons picked the Jets????
You know he did that just so the Jets would lose.
-
Yeah i know.
he said it did it for all he jet fans taunting him.
-
We must believe!
-
BIll Simmons should be revoked of his picking rights: he was 0-fer for the wild card weekend!!! HAHAHA
-
I believe the Chargers can be had by this killer defense. I also believe we can run the ball all day on them. And you know REX BELIEVES!!!!!!!!!
-
I believe….Ya gotta believe…
-
If you cant believe in the Jets as a fan of the team, than what can you believe in?
-
I seriously looked into how I can get AFC Championship tickets, as a non-season ticket holder, without paying an arm and a leg. I suppose that means I believe!
-
I would give up an arm though.
-
the ny media sucks i hope the jets destroy the charges and i believe they can rivers is mortal and can be stopped if they not sucking up to brady they are sucking up to rivers even on the jets network they get no respect you could justyfy the jets being able to beat the charges .WOODY FIRE ALL THOSE JERKS LOUD MOUTHS SHEIN CARLIN ARE JET HATERS HIRE PEOPLE THAT WILL TALK POSITVE ABOUT THE JETS NOT NEGATIVE.
-
I WONDER WHY I GET ON LOUD MOUTHS THEY DONT LET ME TALK I ONE OF THE GUYS THAT PAY FOR THST CHANNEL WHICH IS 639
-
I believe but hold the Kool Aide………
-
Jets 31 Chargers 24
Go Jets and Ravens
-
“to Believe” implies that it would be more of an improbable scenario for Jets to win.
I Believe that if we play well, meaning well- no turnovers, run the ball decently well, special teams dont give up huge plays and kicking game is on point…we Should win. we Dont need to force umpteen turnovers or do trick plays or get special teams TDs to win….you know why? because we are as good as them or better……Simple as that. We should have beat bengals by 3+ tds and this week that will matter…..no ‘running out the clock’ in the first half or playing ‘punt offense’ to keep it close….leave no points off the board, play aggressive and dont be scared to win…..
-
yea i believe we will win the whole dam thing! just watch.
-
I have ave believed since day 1 of the year. I might be pouring the Kool Aid but there seems to be alot of fans drinking it the last 3 weeks
-
Drew, we’ve had green tongue’s since preseason from all our Kool Aid. Pour away brother, but at least we know we (among others around these parts) aren’t the fair-weather kinds of Kool Aid drinkers.
-
gotta believe baby, thats what makes a fan. so proud to be a fan of this team, headed in right direction, all that good stuff…and as 337 said up there, if the ravens win sat. night, it will be nuts, i also sit in 337, coulda never dreamed of this situation, been to 2 eagles nfc title games (just for fun), and cant wait to see what a jets title game would be like. This team can do this. I believe, ive said all year, dont count the jets out. one more time, people say we wont bring it enough for SD, we’ll see. I believe
-
*at least one more time
-
Hell yeah, I believe.
Im so optimistic, I predict that I’ll be going to the meadowlands to see the jets in the conference finals next week.
-
Absolutely I do Believe! GO JETS!!
-
LETS GOOOO!!!!
J-E-T-S JETS! JETS!! JETS!!!
After we beat the Chargers lets sign V-Jax!!!! -
Stick my finger with a pin…Jet Green comes pouring out!!!
-
absolutely believe

i really do…
i have nightmares of Gates making big ctaches in space against our cover 2 on third and 6 for 15 yards a few times, but im not afraid of them in the red zone…
with revis locking down jackson, i trust the coaches to scheme the best they can to take away floyd on the other side…
braylon will catch his TD pass this week…and we will keep the ball in our hands on the ground A LOT in the second half…
scary to admit it, but i do believe…
