this game is pathetic….if this was a jets saints superbowl the saints wouldnt have a single point…..idk if its just that i am spiteful after last week but this games is just boring as all hell

  2. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Saints flat out outplayed, outcoached and “out-toughed”

Congrats to Drew Brees, and Greg Williams is one heck of a defensive coordinator, maybe even 1 to Rex being 1A

  3. avatar Ed L says:

congrats to vilma and the saints…..

vilma is a great player and couldnt be happier for him…

  4. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Drew Bress has officially become my favorite non-Jets player

  5. avatar Jeff says:

It takes a consistent push and one mistake to beat the Colts.

  6. avatar Shamik says:

Ah, Schadenfreude, I love that the Colts lost by 31-17. If only it were my team on top! Next year dammit! I want to wake up hammered dammit!

  7. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

    Jeff- I agree

The Saints did a much better job covering Collie than we did. Collie was the difference in the game. Garcon was great, but he basically canceled out Reggie Wayne being a non factor in the AFC championship.

Jenkins and Porter did a good job limiting Collie from the 2nd quarter on

  8. avatar Shamik says:

Yeah, I spent pretty much the entire 2nd half just chatting with a neighbor. Boring as hell SB. We should’ve been in this game. I think we coulda had a shot! Ah, that Shonn Greene play!

  9. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

To all the doomsday, Benigno worshiping Jets fans

The Saints are proof positive that you can get to the Conf Championship, lose that game, tweak your rosters, and get back to the Super Bowl within a year or two

That is what the 5+ year window our youth has opened up the Jets. And the Jets are alot closer then where the Saints were in 06-07.

A couple decent man corners and a another guy opposite Pace who can do what Pace does, Chez continues to develop and we are right there

  10. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Let me add that the Saints had to COMPLETELY OVERHAUL that defense, which was god awful, while dealing with Katrina

The Jets are closer than that because we dont need Sanchez to be Drew Brees, because we can run the ball more effectively than the Saints can

  11. avatar Shamik says:

If the freakin Saints can win it, we can too, dammit!!! Their fan’s wear bags over own heads! If we can’t do it, the Jets don’t deserve to have fans. Go out and get it done!!!

  12. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

    Shamik

Thats the way to think brother

  13. avatar Shamik says:

Btw, did the commercials suck this year, or what?

  14. avatar Revisisbeast says:

Damn I wanna see the jets win a superbowl congrats to saints

  15. avatar Rudibager says:

    Hooray for the Saints!

    Hooray for Vilma!

Hooray for Kim Kardashian! (I like big butts… I cannot lie)

  16. avatar reality jet fan says:

I watch the aints and yuccaneers wina sb before the jets this is awful!

  17. avatar Randy says:

This is ridulous. We are projected a 15-1 favorite to win the Superbowl next year which means 10 TEAMS are expected to win it over us?I thought we would at least crack top 4 but 11th?…
BTW here are the teams projections
    1.Colts 6-1 (Understandable)
    2.Chargers 8-1 (Understandable)
    3.Saints 10-1 (Champs)
4.Steelers 10-1 (Is Troy P really the difference?)
    5.Patriots 10-1 (WHAT?)
    6.Vikings 12-1(No FAVRE?)
    7.Eagles 12-1 (McNabb getting Older?)
    8.Cowboys 12-1 (Plzzz)
    9.Packers 12-1 (Overated defense showed)
10.Ravens 15-1 (Clone team with worse defense?)
    11.Jets 15-1 (AFC Championship game)

    This is a JOKE!!!!!!!

  18. avatar Randy says:

Backing up the Chargers forgot to mention.LT is DONE and they will definitly lose a step next year.

  19. avatar olexx says:

congrats to vilma and the saints…..

  20. avatar Brad says:

Trading away Vilma was so stupid- that guy is such a good player- quick- do u realize Vilma ran the 4.54 40 yard dash- thats just as good as Lowery. He was able to cover guys as a LB dropping into coverage, something our LB’s arent able to do- Scott i believe is our best coverage guy- he was injured with the ankle, but when healthy he still doesnt have great speed like Vilma. The Saints CB’s are much better than ours- Porter was one of the fastest guys in the 2008 draft- 4.37 40 time- 2nd rd pick, great closing speed. Jenkins was a first rd. pick this past year, but ran a 4.5 and is not there starting CB, Jabari Greer an established veteran is opposite Porter with randall gay as the 4th cb. There secondary is much better than ours, and they have Sharper as a safety, another play-maker.

I cannot say they got great pressure on Manning, but their coverage was much better on their WR’s with their secondary on LB. Our defense is lacking speed and talent in the coverage aspect. Normal average teams, we are able to take away a teams top 2 options with our defense, but these elite teams with many more options will burn us unless we add better CB’s and a LB that can cover too, With these great QB’s with their quick three step drops, even with a great Pass Rusher on our team, the great QB’s, the ones that are always in the Playofss will still get the ball out to the guy they want.

  21. avatar HAGS says:

Congrats to the Saints…had to pull for the Saints after WE gave the Colts a trip to Miami…..WHO DAT?????

  22. avatar Randy says:

this just proves my point how the Jets get NO RESPECT around the league and are never noticed.Makes no since when you consider we will keep mostly the same team and are young and our players are getting better with the developing of Mark Sanchez and Shonn Greene. Not to mention our Defense.

  23. avatar vurtualife says:

It’s utterly disgusting the extent to which commercialism has utterly taken over American sports, ESPECIALLY Football. What everyone watched today was 3+ hours of COMMERCIALS interrupted occasionally by a few snaps of the football…
It’s now become beyond egregious and filthy — truly inspires one to never watch TV again: the pandering to vapid, self-serving inclinations, the frat-boy humor and slacker/hipster slants… all URGING the viewer to CONSUME, BUY, and CONFORM..
Say what you want about what we call “soccer” [yea yea, it sucks, etc] but during their TV coverage, they are zero commercials [nay, zero timeouts] until HALFTIME. This is one of the main reasons that particular sport is not hyped nearly to the degree of our major “pastimes” — and also why Football is the ideal sport for our culture… I’m sure the pioneer marketers of TV commercials spluged in their pants as they observed the potential to SHOVE ads in the viewers face ad infinitum/nauseum…

At any rate, rant over. Glad to see the Colts/Peyton go down! Congrats to the SAINTS…

  24. avatar Brad says:

Randy- what do u expect- we were considered the Cinderella story of the playoffs, no one expected the Jets to do anything, and most still feel we got a little lucky by getting in, and our playoff opponents having special teams blunders allowed us to win. To be a top dawg in this league, we need to get into the playoffs and win games in the playoffs consistently year after year.

  25. avatar Randy says:

Brad-I understand what your saying but do you really think the Ravens should have the same odds as us when their defense is gotten worse this year without Ryan and we finished with the same record and made it furthur in the playoffs.Especially that the Pats are getting older and they got eliminated in the wildcard weekend and they are still heavy favorites above us?

  26. avatar Randy says:

It would be nice if the Jets got a little respect once in a while and it just irks me how us Jet fans cant even get recognition.Sportsnation votes against us on EVERY POLL and we could make it to the Superbowl and lose and we would still have 10 teams favored above us the following year.Thats my point.Im not saying we are the favorites but not even being considered top 10 is a joke to me after everything we accomplished.Defeating the Chargers and Bengals was no joke.

  27. avatar Shamik says:

Look, our team will get no respect until we annihilate our division for a few years and our QB does some humanitarian handouts. All I want to do, I celebrate a Super Bowl Sunday absolutely freaking out in front of the TV and then go to the parade, buy as much paraphernalia and then relive the day for the test of my life.

  28. avatar vurtualife says:

F what everyone else thinks? Who cares? Let them all think we are not favored to go far.. Makes winning all the more fun and satisfying..

  29. avatar vurtualife says:

FYI, there shouldn’t have been a question mark at the end of my first sentence in my prior post..

  30. avatar Shamik says:

Whatever, I want to light the AFC on fire until til we win the whole damn thing. Just leave wreckage in our wake, win or lose.

  31. avatar Randy says:

hey I have an opinion on something and tell me what you think.apparantly Joey Porter says his days of being a Dolphin are over.Is is possible we can trade for this guy and he can play outside linebacker and move Pace to Defensive End?Porter had 9 sacks last season and he still has the talent.Pace to me can play a great defensive end and having him on the edge and Porter on the outside would certainly help.It is possible we can get Porter for cheap.

Im sure Porter and Rex Ryan would make up and become good friends. lol as funny as that sounds I can honestly see those 2 getting along.

  32. avatar Brad says:

Randy – that Joey Porter stuff was talked about last week. He would be a nice upgrade opposite Pace, but some think we might go after Adalius Thomas, either one would be nice.

On us getting no respect- what did the Ravens do to the Pats in the Playoffs?, what happened the last time we played the Pats? Who did the Ravens lose to in the Playoffs? Who did we lose to in the Playoffs? We have to prove we werent a one year wonder, and are QB needs to keep progressing as a QB.

  33. avatar ChalmetteMark says:

    Who Dat!!!

  34. avatar firstdown77 says:

Who cares about national TV. ESPN expert analysts are almost all jokes. They’re probably biased towards the popular teams anyway.

  35. avatar Ed L says:

i cant wait to see our defense tear the afc east apart…i cant wait to see a more mature mark sanchez walk into dolphin stadium and shove it down there throats….i hate the dolphins and the pats and i would love to go on the road and beat them both….

the bills of course too but for some reason i just dont get as fired up against the bills

  36. avatar Ed L says:

    and another thing

the saints would have never won if it wasn’t for REX’S (ksk) PEP TALK!!!!

  37. avatar nyjets90 says:

does anybody find it weird that the Colts lost to an almost identical score they beat us with in the AFC championship game? …karma.

  38. avatar James in TN says:

    it is karma beautiful karma.

  39. avatar Zartan says:

reality jet fan, as a conspiracy theorist, they needed it more than us. IMO the league has gone out of its way to make sure the Jets and Giants never make postseason together and def. not with both with home field. Jets don’t need the pitty cause the house is full even when their 1-15.

Brad, agree, have been saying for 3yrs how we need some cover LBs.

Eddie DiGio, As a fan you shouldnt be putting Rex behind anyone. You already know he wont be kissing Paytons rings, so why are you. Im happy for the Saint too.

  40. avatar dmazz says:

I’m hoping Mark gets his work in this off season with the offense. We need to score more than 17 pts a game next season.

  41. avatar AKA....Drew says:

i have to admit that even though i bet the Saints and were rooting for them….It annoys me that the Saints beat Manning with a great defensive play and helf the “super hero” to 17 points. i would have felt a little better if No woul dhave won a shootout!

I just dont think NO has a great defense and Manning carved us up.

I guess just some bitter grapes but I won some cash so who cares…..lol

  42. avatar Brendan says:

    Drew,

The Saints aren’t as good as the Jets on defense, but they’re better at getting pressure with their front four. Sometimes they only needed 3 guys to get pressure on Manning. That makes it easier for the defense. Know what else helped? Manning getting to run only six plays in an entire quarter. Good, long drives kept Manning from sniffing the field and out of any kind of rhythm in the middle of the game.

  43. avatar Brad says:

Brendan, Drew – As I stated in my previous post, the difference between the Saints and Jets Defense is the Saints have a much better coverage unit with their LB’s and Secondary. Here is my previous post:

Trading away Vilma was so stupid- that guy is such a good player- quick- do u realize Vilma ran the 4.54 40 yard dash- thats just as good as Lowery. He was able to cover guys as a LB dropping into coverage, something our LB’s arent able to do- Scott i believe is our best coverage guy- he was injured with the ankle, but when healthy he still doesnt have great speed like Vilma. The Saints CB’s are much better than ours as a whole- Porter was one of the fastest guys in the 2008 draft- 4.37 40 time- 2nd rd pick, great closing speed.

44. avatar AKA....Drew says:

    Brad

I loved Vilma as a player for us under Herm but I cannot cry over the fact that he was traded as a square peg in a the round hole created by Mangini’s defense.

    Brendan

I am not sure where the pressue was as I saw Manning having alot of time back there thru the game.

The Saints did keep him on the sidelines before and after the half with their offesne.

It just bothered me that they got that INT return. it was a play i wished we were able to pull off.

  45. avatar Brendan says:

With Manning, I consider anything where he has to actually move getting pressure. Most of the time he’s like a statue, so moving him around like the Saints did counts as pressure in my book. Basically my point is that the Saints used more people in coverage than the Jets typically did and got better results.

  46. avatar vurtualife says:

Let’s not forget our secondary was banged up and Bart Scott didn’t play for much of the 2nd half [not to mention the injury to S. Greene in the 2nd half that impacted our offensive play-calling, and T. Jones played hurt.. plus Jenkins and Leon being out, etc].. who knows how the game would have turned out had all our starters been healthy..
