Are all the Penny-philes (oof that doesn’t sound good) going to cry themselves to sleep tonight because Chad might not get the chance to return to the Jets? Quite possibly.
With free agency set to kick off in six hours, the Dolphins are expected to re-sign veteran quarterback Chad Pennington, a league source said.
A deal isn’t yet in place and Pennington is set to become a free agent at midnight, but “barring something crazy” he will be back in Miami, the source said.
Pennington, who turns 34 on June 26, continues to recover from season-ending right shoulder injury in Week 3 at San Diego.
But Pennington wants to return to Miami, the source said, and the Dolphins have been interested in bringing him back.
…
In fact, if Pennington returns and is healthy, he might even give Henne a run for the starting job in training camp.
I’d love to have gotten the chance to see Chad back up Mark Sanchez next year, but this looks unlikely at this point.

No way Pennigton come back to the Jets, only More an that is because he did

I’m a little disappointed. I thought he’d choose us over backing up Henne. Oh well, I think I can get over it well enough. Rule #23 of football – once a player is off your team, your affection for him must officially die.

As much as i love C. Pennington.. He’s done. If he wants to stay in Miami and they’re willing to pay him….. good luck….He cant throw his way out of paper bag at this point.

No way Pennigton come’s back to the Jets, Moore came back and that is because of more $$$ and he did not want to dislodge his family. TJ will not take Tannenbaums offer and he’ll probably take less from NE, we’ll see.
I’m sure Parcells and Sperano want to keep Pennington with him……He knows value!!!

Thank God!

There is a much better chance that I will win the next Powerball lottery than Pennington will return to the Jets.

If TJ goes to New England, I’ll jump for joy.
TJ’s production as a receiver out of the backfield has plummeted, and New England has a FINESSE O-Line.
TJ needs a physical o-line up front to be successful. Road graders like Mangold, Moore and Faneca are key to his sucess, as he does not break alot of tackles and is a one cut runner.
New England is an AWFUL place for TJ to go and he would be largely ineffective if he goes there

I LOVE and RESPECT Chad for everything he’s done, but I’m GLAD he’s not coming back. We are moving ahead, not backwards.
-
And as much as I admire Penny, everytime Sanchez farted in the wrong direction the nut jobs in NY and ESPECIALLY this blog would go nuts, call for Sanchez’s head and call for Pennington to start…we dont need any of this living as if its 2004
-
He is yesterday’s news. I’d rather go with the quarterbacks we have on the roster.
-
I’m with you Eddie. Sanchez doesn’t need the fans and media crying for Pennington to be the starter every time he throws a pick, and that’s exactly what would happen.

kc:
We are moving ahead (with TJ) ,not backwards…….THE $64,000 question is: Will the Jets continue to move ahead WITHOUT TJ?
-
Chad will prove to be the Dolphins’ (highly paid) de facto QBs Coach. He could take over the OC job the day he retires as a player (assuming Dan Henning retires as well), and no one would raise an eyebrow at the jump.

Bent:
Tannenbaum doesn’t even know how the word loyalty looks like.
-
ive been looking for the new york jets plane….i did find that the giants plane has landed in denver….can anyone tell me how to find the jets flight plan
-
Tanny knows loyalty to guys who get the job done.
Revis and Mangold will never long for anything as a Jet
Penny became expendable and so did TJ
Face it Hank, the dude just wasnt that good…
-
Well Bent, If Tannenbaum knew anything at all about loyalty along with a little class, maybe Pennington would hold some value as a JET!!!
