Eric Smith is going to kill someone this year…and i love it

Offseason Needs:
Rush Linebacker: The Jets’ No. 1 priority this offseason has to be upgrading the pass rush. They can’t afford to blitz Peyton Manning and expose their secondary. They need to find some way to consistently get to the quarterback without sending tons of blitzers. This position will likely be addressed in the first two rounds this April.Cornerback: Lito Sheppard isn’t a very good cornerback. New York needs a solid guy across from Darrelle Revis. The 2010 NFL Draft is loaded at this position. Traded for Antonio Cromartie
Defensive End: Shaun Ellis is a 33-year-old player coming off a knee injury and entering his contract year. Marques Douglas is a 33-year-old free agent. An injection of youth and talent is needed up front. Jared Odrick is an option with the No. 29 pick this April.
Free Safety: This position will need to be addressed via the draft. at least 3 top safeties available this year.
Slot Receiver: The Jets are set at wideout with Braylon Edwards and Jerricho Cotchery, but they could use an upgrade in the slot. This is not a pressing need.
Backup Quarterback: Kellen Clemens embarrassed himself when he replaced Mark Sanchez for a game and a half late in the season. A veteran backup could be added.
Inside Linebacker Depth: If either David Harris or Bart Scott goes down, the Jets are in trouble.

Anybody else have a problem with ‘hit the Rhodes”
Kerry hasnt hit anything/anyone in 2 years
-
Brian, I do… I don’t disagree with the trade. It’s just that Rhodes was a 4th rd pick and I’ve been rooting for hom for years now. To see him, for the most part, give up like he did really bothered me. It was like Abraham not playing in Pttisburg during the playoffs. One thing I have always loved about my Jets is that you don’t see them all over the news with DWI’s and other negative news. They’re not perfect but we’ve always had players you can respect and Rhodes was someone who everybody respected and he just turned on us… That’s my problem…

the NY media LMAO….gotta love it.

Question- according to the cap rules for the final 4 teams, we can sign a UFA from one of the other final 4 teams right?
If so, I was thinking that Darren Sharper is not a bad alternative. He is a playmaker and a big hitter who will have the opportunity to roam and make plays because we have the best glue guy in football who plays right next to him, Jim leonhard. Whatcha guys think?

miles D.:
March 7, 2010 8:12 AM Richie, Farrior played out his contract, Abraham played out his welcome, Vilma played out of position and Rhodes played out his dramas.Mike T’s gift to Rex will be a Rex Safety in the draft.
I’ve watched Rhodes make every effort to show his face on T.V in none football areas, inever got to ask you guys if you noticed how chubby Kerrys cheaks were. Is he good? hell yes! but the lack of conditioning and football in and of itself says to trade the dude. Not on true jet fan should be crying for him to stay.
I did think he was worth a 3rd but so what, we gt a 4th.

Zartan, You’re right… I thought everyone in hollywood was supposed to look anerexic?

nyj2010,
“Question- according to the cap rules for the final 4 teams, we can sign a UFA from one of the other final 4 teams right?”
We thought that might be an interpretation of the rules, but it was not the case, so Sharper is off the table until we lose one of ours of equal value.
-
We just got to wait and see what Tanny & Co. Are goin to do next. Good luck to Rhodes in his career football/Hollywood, hopefully a big move is in place and a replacement is made where nothing seems lost in the S spot when the season starts.
-
so whats the deal with a supposed “retired” player.
Like if Ed Reed would retire, could he sign with us before training camp ala brett favre?
If so, I’d like the believe this is why we took a 4th rounder.
-
Nothing has value until you try to sell it. When you do sell it you have not determined the value the buyer has.
-
Brian G.–good thing the road isn’t moving he may have a shot.
-
Can we still get Bethea… we were in talks with him
-
Won’t Bethea cost the Jets there 1st rounder this year? Not to much mention of Ihedigbo, I thought he came a long way this year and was excellent in run support

LOL
