Prospect Watch: CB Dominique Franks

By E. Weeks on 12. Mar, 2010

As the Jets journey towards the draft in April, we here at TJB will be taking a look into prospects that could be on the Jets draft board. Today we will be taking a look at: Oklahoma product, Dominique Franks.

Projected Round: Third

Measurables: Stands at 6’0. Weighs in at 192 lbs.

Positives: Franks has long arms that can help him break up passes — they can even help break up passes although he has been beat by his man. He is one of the better cover corners and is very agile. He is very physical and isn’t afraid to get in your face — he is good in press coverage and good in man to man as well. He has sure hands and good speed. Quarterback’s didn’t like to throw towards his direction often.

Negatives: Franks will let the play come to him sometimes and he needs to do a better job of recognizing plays. Franks also needs to do a better job of finding the ball deep in the air.

The Bottom Line: Franks seems like a solid corner that would be a good addition to the secondary which lacks quality depth. Of course Franks is more of a starter and this draft is deep with CB’s. He will certainly get attention but I doubt he’ll be getting a call from New York on draft day.

Franks Highlights:

I’m sorry there isn’t much film on Franks. I know this isn’t much of a highlight reel but it does give you a small taste of his abilities.
