Whether you have been waiting anxiously for this announcement or dreading it, it has finally come. LaDainian Tomlinson has decided that he will join the New York Jets for two years according to Adam Schefter.
UPDATE: The contract is reported to be worth $5.2 million and it could go as high as $5.7 million.
Filed to ESPN: it’s official. LaDainian Tomlinson is a Jet. He reached agreement on a two-year contract. Done.
As ronnie pointed out earlier LT certainly will not solve the puzzle by himself but he will be able to make valuable contributions (hopefully) as backup to Shonn Greene. And while his better days are behind him perhaps he can find some new life behind one of the best offensive lines in the NFL — if anything Woody might just get his wish and get some of those PSL’s sold right?
Regardless, I welcome LT to New York and look forward to seeing him in Green and White!
I hope you are all ready for LT:

The Jets always get their man! Welcome to NY LT!!
-
DAMN!!! I hate when I’m wrong!! I hope I’m wrong again cause I think he is done!
-
I know a lot of people have been down on this move, and all the stats have been analyzed…but I just have a gut feeling next January, we’ll all be glad we brought LT in. If the FO feels like he still has gas left in the tank, I’m inclined to believe them.
Welcome, LT!
-
great pick-up we r upgrading all over the place…..i love it.
-
Good thing we got that superior pesky Thomas Jones out of the way first!
-
I am very happy that my GM and coach were able to once again close the deal. I hope LT has more to give than I think he does.
-
hope hes not done..if hes not, what a backfield
-
Thomas Jones would have posted worse numbers had he been given 110 less caries and had been playing in San Diego last season.
-
Hope LT doesn’t bring his losing ways to NY. The Marino of running backs.
PSL por favor?
-
Welcome to the J-E-T-S Ladainian. Now make sure you pick up Shonn Greene on your way back over from the West Coast and show him how to be a star running back in this league for the next 10 years. I bet you Mr. Sanchez is all smiles right now, high fiving everybody in sight.
-
I didnt want this to happen but he is a Jet now so welcome aboard LT you have my support now.
-
@ AKA anyone behind our O-Line can have a great season all u practically need 2 be is a RB in da NFL.. And 2 me we juss got a great 1
-
I Love the Move!
Welcome, LT!
-
Any word on salary?
-
EastSide,
Losing ways?? The Chargers have been one of the most competitive teams in the AFC for the past 10 years with LT as their starting RB. It takes more than 1 player to win a SuperBowl, so don’t try and lay the blame on him. And if you are comparing him to Marino, one of the all-time great players in this league, regardless of whom he played for, calling them both losers then you are wayyyyyyy of base. How many Jet fans can truly say that they were happier with Ken O’Brien at the helm back in the 80′s rather than Dan Marino.
-
There is nothing bad about this. He will mentor Greene, he can catch the ball out of the backfield, he will be cheaper then TJ and he’s LT for crying out loud!!
-
Now him and Shonn Green can ” Tea Cup” togethet. Good luck LT2, look forward to seeing you in the endzone often.
Hey Bent, what’s the details of the contract?
-
LT scored 12 TDs behind a makeshift O-Line last season.
on a lighter workload and with a dominant line I expect LT’s YPC to shoot back up.
lets just hope they dont rely on him come playoff time…
-
Lets Do This! New York Jets.. Its the hottest place to be….
-
What it do?
-
Welcome to New York, LT!
-
Lets get the goodies on how we schmoozed him now…. You’d think that Schotty probably had a big role here, too..
-
Told ya so. I knew he would pick us over the Vikes. Get ready for a big year gentleman.
-
In Tannenbaum we trust….. Jets fans should be excited they know more about TJ and LT then we do and they felt like it was an upgrade… TJ was a workhorse but never made anyone miss hopefully LT can find some fire under those wheels again
-
I have been one of the main guys against LT the last few days….Now that he is here I am on board. I still think Mr T and the FO has some things in the works. I still think there is one more big move coming…..maybe a huge trade, RFA signing or just the usual Mr T moving up in the draft. All I know is something else will happen in the next 5 weeks
-
welcome LT prove all the doubters wrong
-
And Weeks, nice call on putting up the LT Style Electric Glide. Cut it back now ya’ll!!
-
We didn’t have to give anything up for LT so I’m not opposed to this move. Best case scenario he thrives behind our O-line and we see glimpses of his former self. Worst case scenario he’s the same guy that played for the Chargers last year or he gets injured, I guess what I’m getting at is that this move doesn’t hurt our team at all, we’ve lost nothing by signing this guy especially during an uncapped year and he could potentially play well. Only problem could be losing Leon because of this move and LT being terrible, about the only nightmare scenario I can come up with.
-
Where are you Ben Nevis?
-
We Always Get Our Man! Wow I just realized that.
-
Welcome LT !!!! Make all these LT haters on here believers . I believe the Jets told LT that he could fight for the starting rb job and if so i think we might have something special this season . Just my thoughts
-
I have the feeling that all Jets fans will be even more in love with Sanchez when LT talks about their dinner last night….. The kid is legit and we are lucky to have him at QB
-
Sanchez now will have a short passing game, and a Screen game, the Jets just got better.
-
we still need a WR and a Safety…maybe we raid the Chargers for Vincent Jackson too.
-
JetMetVet,
Don’t you mean, “The New York Friggin’ Jets”
Hey Peyton, we are coming for you, and this time we will have 2 shutdown corners so you better be looking for your #3 receiver all game.
-
Welcome to NY LT! Let’s get stronger on D and get a WR. Man I cannot wait for football!
-
Think about this man coming out of the backfield to catch the short pass in the flats. Mark should be very excited to have this type of option.
-
Let’s hope that LT wants to show SD that he isn’t done. As long as we now have a superior receiving back, I wouldn’t mind getting the second rounder for Leon. This is a deep draft and, with three picks in the first two rounds, we can add some serious talent to an already solid line-up. I was sick about losing TJ but, it is hard to deny that, I can’t wait to see LT in green and white. Now, all we need is an Offensive Coordinator.
-
oleosmirf – you said it!
“LT scored 12 TDs behind a makeshift O-Line last season.
on a lighter workload and with a dominant line I expect LT’s YPC to shoot back up.”
The Jets OL boasts three 2009 pro-bowlers plus one former (Woody) and a darn good RG (Moore).
Even LT2 as he is in 2010 will produce behind the Jets OL. The dude knows what to do, plus he’s got a chip on his shoulder from getting released from SD.
How can anyone not love his upside in Green and White??
-
TRADE BRAYLON AND A 5TH FOR MARSHALL…
-
or braylon and a 3rd
Marshall would be a great get
-
How mant times do you think Sanchez uttered the phrase, “Dude, I am so stoked about you coming here” over dinner last night?
Sanchez and Rex are huge selling points for this team when it comes to attracting free agents. This is a really good sign for the New York Friggin’ Jets.
-
WOW!!!!!!!!!
I’m calling first thing tomorrow morning for my club seats!!
J-E-T-S, LTLTLTLTLT!!!
-
LT is going to love playing NE 2x next year too! He hates NE
-
Goodbye Leon.
-
I say we keep Leon for ST..who else will return punts and kicks?
-
Please, no more YPC talk…
-
I still don’t agree with the move, but I hope I am wrong. I just can’t see Leon on this team next year after this move. I still think we should have drafted a runningback in the first couple of rounds.
-
I guess ill have to learn to love the move. I believe Leon will be gone as well if someone is willing to give up a second.
Brad Smith can return kicksoffs- not sure who will do punts.
-
Sad to see Tj go but the potential upside of this move is very promising. Welcome aboard LT. Let’s git er done this year!
-
Enjoy the ride Jet fans this is gonna be a great move.
-
draft marty gilyard or shipley they will return and play a good slot role.
-
Aka…… Drew
I can just feel the wheels turning as I type . The next move will happen soon . Doesn’t it just feel great to be a Jets fan …(idk if you remember but would still like that late round RB) .. Go Jets …
-
Love it
Oh for all the haters it a 2 year deal stop complaining about the money . 2-3 mill agenst the cap in 2 years who cares
Now lets go lock up Sharper , and daft a DE and a OLB Odrick and Graham (spelling)
-
WELCOME LT
-
WE DO NOT NEED BRANDO MARSHALL!!!!!!!!!!!!! It makes 0 sense to ring in another huge expiring contract. Why send a pick and Edwards, who is going to have a MONSTER year, for a one year rental of prima donna WR. God damn you Marshall wanters are sooo stupid.
-
LT, welcome to the first day of the rest of your NFL career, This team is putting it all together and you will be a part of it.
I’m stoked and excited, bring on the draft!!
-
nice….but he can leave that shuffle in san diego
-
Great move when you can add depth to key positions. LT will be productive and gives options in signing Leon or trading for a second round pick.
-
More like hello Mr. Keels, you know all of that leverage that you perceived to have over the last few weeks. It’s gone now!!! So shutup, come to the negotiating table and let’s get a reasonable deal done with Leon, so that he can be a #2 back on a Super Bowl contending team. Enough talking about the Niners, Pats, and Broncos on your twitter page, Leon is a NY Jet and he better sign on the dotted line because we can and will go on without him now that LT is here.
-
Clint
I’d like Shipley ..
-
Interesting move. I loved TJ but let’s hope LT can fill a role here.
-
2 years ago we were comparing Favre to Pennington all yr…this season it’ll be LT to TJ
Also, there is no doubt in my mind that the Jets vs Vikings this season will be on prime time
-
@JFISF
If you aren’t a little superstitious after all these years of being a Jets fan then my hat’s off to you, sir. Was it all on him? Of course not. Some guys never win the big one and when they perform at an elite statistical level, questions naturally arise. Sure the Chargers have been competitive over the past decade but they also have a reputation for choking and soft play. How many times have analysts picked them to win the SB in preseason only to have them flop
And why you bringing Ken O’Brien into this?
-
We can sign Marshall long term guy…plus why are you yelling on a blog (funny).
Edwards is too a prima donna and has legal issues also, and is a 1 year rental also…plus not to mention he drops every other ball. Marshall is so much better!
ESPN is rumering also that the Jets may make a play for him by packaging players so they do not have to give up their number 29. Noone is giving up their first rounder, which means we can step in and package Braylon and a 4th(5th, or 3rd) and sign a true number 1 to number 1 money instead of Braylon who disappears. Marshall gets 100 receptions every year for atleast 1000-1100 yards and 5-7 TDs. With the Jets running game and Keller, and Cotchery, and Tomlinson and maybe Leon he would be a monster.
Braylon is good, but Marshall is a real number 1 and a beast
-
D. Revis on his twitter account loved the move so all doubters can quiet down now.
-
Ronnie,
We should be seeing the Jets in a bunch of prime time games this year!! Including a few in late January and possibly early February.
-
How will this affect dealings with Leon? interesting….
-
“Flop” may have been a poor choice of wording. Suffice to say, the Chargers haven’t seen an AFC championship this decade.
-
Yes! we should get hopefully 2-3 sunday night and 2 monday night games this regular season. we will be the Browns of prime time 2 years ago.
-
except unlike the Browns we will win!
-
If a marshall deal gets done it will be Bryalon and leon
-
Okay not to happy about this but i’ll take it. No Brandon Marshall though! Please No. Draft a pass rusher or a safety in the first round. Then we get Shipley! Please draft Shipley!
-
Also RESIGN LEON!!!!!
-
@TheJetsStream:
LT salary: 2 yrs, $5.2 mil, according to source. Can escalate to $5.7 mil. He got slightly more than Thomas Jones from KC.We’ll be hearing it all year the comparisons between TJ & LT
-
i say we keep Leon W…..LT will only be here couple of years….leon still young….i say keep him around to see what we got left in him from surgery. and in this league with a running team like jets you need 3 backs…..what do you think>?
-
Golden tate or Shipley AJ. And yes resign leon.
-
we will see about this move mid season, but nice to know people want to be here… here is to rex and co… and big praise to Mr. T
-
Eastside,
All superstitions are gone with Rex at the helm ;) I can once again change my underwear during winning streaks, umm I mean shave my beard during….
I brought up KOB, because he was the Jet QB during most of the Marino years. One thing I will say for KOB is that he did outduel Marino a number of times during that stretch, but no way I choose him over Dan “Maroone” Marino (South Florida reference there).
-
Yea Baby, I wanna see all the LT haters on the board when he’s running through the holes TJ was.
I’m sure LT is gonna make this tough on the people that dislike this move.
-
Cimini reporting its 5.2 million- a little more than TJ got and could go up to 5.7 million
-
Does anyone really believe that Braylon is a legit number 1 who can consistently catch 100 balls for 1200 yards and 7-10 TDs a year? Or is he a 1 year fix on probation for a long term deal?
Marshall is the real deal. We can trade for Marshall and still draft Shipley as a slot receiver in round 2. Then ask yourself, with Keller do we really need a slot receiver, or should be go for big physical vertical guys that can open up the middle for Keller and LT? That is SD pass philosophy and it works. With our running game, and a real true monster WR threat we can’t be stopped barring injury and Sanchez throwing picks.
There are only about 5 great WR’s in this league…
Moss
Fitzg
A Johnson
C Johnson
MarshallThen the tier drops to
R Wayne
Boldin
V Jackson and suchThen comes the likes of BRaylon…
Am I that far off here?
-
Last season, we were the N.Y Ravens, now we are the N.Y chargers.
L.T is not done. he will help us more then Jones, Not his tough 1 yarders though. -
Leon is 26 going on 27 now. In 2 years he will be 29 that is not young. We need to draft a younger Leon. there are plenty of utility backs in the mid rounds. We can get a leon type in round 4 and 5. stop worrying.
If we do trade leon and braylon for marshall, then we will be just fine. We can get joe mcknight from USC in round 5 and he is small and fast too.
-
A little more than TJ got to back up Charles in KC. Less than TJ would have made as a Jet next year without restructuring. Much less than Taylor got from the Bears to backup Forte. seems like a reasonable deal if 5.2 over 2 is the number.
-
Question: How do you beat the Colts or the Patriots?
Answer: Put the Jets and the Chargers together and make a championship. -
and…to all the people who think leon is as good as jones drew, or cribbs or even sproles…you are wrong. he is almost as good as sproles on ST and screens, but will never be a cribbs or jones drew or even reggie bush type player. he is electric, but again a utility back. he is another kevin faulk
-
Leons 28 coming off a broken Leg… I like the guy but he’s not a must ..
-
CA JETS FAN
I think the Cotch & Braylon tandem is at least a top 10 maybe even a top 5 WR tandem in the league
-
Leon is 27 now..will be 28 b4 the season starts..thanks Marvel for the correction.
Makes my arguement more valid…go get Marshal
-
Who else like me is waiting to see an update look of Rex
-
Brian,
I am not disagreeing in a top 10..maybe 5, but with Marshall and Cotchery..Jets have the best tandem and at worst definitely in the top 3.
-
Chad Johnson and Randy Moss in the top 5 receivers???? Maybe 3 years ago. I take Wayne, Sidney Rice, Wes Welker, and a slew of other’s over them right now.
Ask Revis what he thinks about those two guys, afterall he shut both of them down twice last season.
-
Calvin Johnson and Yes Randy Moss…Randy is still feared
-
Wes Welker is nothing without randy moss spacing the Defense…Sidney Rice had 1 good year…Calm down
-
who ar ethe slew other? But the real ? is would you take Marshall over Leon and Braylon? nothing else should matter.
-
JetsFanInSouthFlorida,
He means Calvin Johnson (i think). I agree with you on Welker, Rice, and Wayne.
-
Do you think Keels knows about this yet? I mean how could he with the pimp pool party he is throwing today….lol
-
Ugh.
-
Keep Leon Washington, Sign Sharper…..I’m on the fence with Marshall because he sounds like a really bad dude and despite all his physical ability, I don’t like what I’ve seen in Denver from afar. I really Like Jordan Shipley out of Texas as a slot receiver. We need some OLB and DE help now!!!
-
I’ll bet when this all plays out we will hear that in addition to Schott, Rex, Sanchez and Woody, a big reason that LT chose the Jets was Tony Richardson.
It’s no coincidence that when Lorenzo Neal left the Bolts LT’s ypc dropped by almost a yard when he a couple of rookies blocking for him. Real blocking fullbacks are a dying breed in the NFL and Richardson is one of the best.
-
Even though I didnt want LT….I feel really good about my team and what we are doing overall.
Like I said …there are more moves coming boys…Mr T is not done yet.
-
welcome LT.. GREAT MOVE MR.T. PLEASE KEEP LEON… TRUE JET
-
Crazy,
I can buy that, but did you like anything you heard about Braylon in Cleveland?
He dropped passes, was arrested, and terribly inconsistent. I just do not see the difference in risk. Cromartie..were you happy with him in SD? I live here…7 kids or whatever…arrested for hitting people with champagne bottles…bottom line is these are all allegations and character issues that our FO seems to think they can fix and is worth the risk in talent.
I would love Sharper on this team for a 2 year deal. I like Shipley alot but again, I think with Keller we do not need that type of WR. We need more big vertical deep threats. (like Marshall).
Why keep Leon at this point? What would he do for us unless LT gets hurt? We still do not know what we have in C Wash as a 3rd back and Shonne and LT can carry the load at 15-17 carries each a game.
-
Do we even have T.Rich locked up this year?
-
Just know LT is no longer a part of a pass first offense and he’s running behind a better OL. I can remember many games TJ forced yards, but LT has vision to make cuts that TJ didn”t do. TJ settle for 1 and 2 yard gains, and LT will give the JETS a better option for more yards gain!
-
J Trottier and L Neal were on the radio out here in SD 2 weeks ago.
Neal called LT signing iwth the Jets and I did not believe it. Neal also said he would cleat up for LT and Jets any day of the week. Imagine Neal and Richardson sharing time blocking??? We could run every down and win 12 games :)
-
Leon is much more dynamic than Smith and I still dont see why the Jets would be in any rush to get rid of him.
Sure they wont match an offer for him but I dont see any team giving up a 2nd rounder for him anyway.
Leon, Smith and now LT gives Schotty so many options in that wildcat…
-
CA JETS FAN,
Reggie Wayne is as good if not better than Marshall he lead the league wayne had 1 less reception, 150 more yards, and the same amount of touchdowns and he only played in 13 and a half games
-
sorry J trottier (sports ill reporter) not Jeremiah (crazy LB)
-
think of Smith, Leon and LT in the wildcat….
-
Bright…Okay I can accept a Wayne arguement. I really like Wayne.
But he is not available. Is Marshall better than Braylon?
-
also CA JET FAN chad johnson is not even a top 7 wideout
-
B Smith should be our only wild cat option. He can pass better than LT and Leon. LT is not fast enough anymore to run out of that formation, and who knows how much speed Leon has lost, plus he is going to be 28. he is not a rookie anymore..
-
OK, CA I was worried there for a minute. I can see Calvin Johnson reaching top 5 but don’t think he is there yet. I disagree on Moss though as I believe he is on the decline now.
A lot of people would say the opposite about Welker and Moss, that it is Welker’s presence that made Moss look better. How well did Randy do when Welker was out? Sidney Rice didn’t have a good year, he had a great year 83-1312-8 in the regular season and 10-184-4 in the playoffs. While Moss’ overall regular season numbers were comparable 83-1264-13, he was terrible against the Ravens in the playoffs and down the stretch he averaged 3.5 catches for 53 yards in the last 7 games and was heavily criticized for mailing it in during that time.
-
once agaiN!!
I meant Calvin Johnson…Chad Johnson is not talented at all anymore..thank you.
-
neither is calvin johnson
-
CA Jets Fan
the wildcat is all about illusions. They can have Smith, Leon and LT in the backfield and teams wont know how to cover that
-
thank god.. it at least calvin johnson i agree with you if we traded braylon for marshall then that would be a great move
-
CA Jets fan,
As funny as it is, LT probably throws a better ball than Brad Smith.
________
I like the signing. At first I was completely against it, but the more I think about it, the more I like it. At the very least he will be a valuable goaline runner and short yardage back. He can tutor Greene in the ways of pass protection (LT is one of the few guys that is better than TJ in this regard) and veteran tricks about taking care of his body. Everyone knows TJ is a workout fanatic, but so is LT. He has special offseason workouts that are legendary in NFL circles.
Either way, as long as it’s for $5-$6 mil for two years and nothing outrageous, good signing.
-
JETSFANIN SF:
Calvin is a top 5 WR. He never had anyone to compliment him and played with horrible QBs.
Sidney did have a great year. With Brett Favre. lets see what he does with Tavaris Jackson or Sage R. I like Sidney Rice.
Moss played with so many injuries last year it is not funny. He may be on the decline, but he is still double-teamed every game unless ofcourse he has a date on Revis island. I am sorry, because I did not intend to insult Welker. He is tremendous, but for me WR are vertical down the field players that can win in the air and with speed. Welker is a system WR that plays well in the slot. He was kicked out of SD and Miami (parcells). Maybe he just wasn’t matured enough in his skills, or maybe he just fits better in NE…NE also loves TE’s that go elsewhere and suck. Deon Branch was great in NE and sucked in Seattle..it can be a system thing with those middle of the field players in NE IMO
-
u make a good point Hanger,,,
leon and LT in the wildcat… damnnn,.. WELCOME LT..
-
CA,
Good question on Marshall over Leon\Braylon. It is interesting and talent wise I do tend to agree with you. The thing that scares me off about Marshall is how NYC would affect him. Bright lights, big city to steal a phrase from Sharper. When you hear that it was Marshall’s BS that caused Darrent Williams murder, that has to make you take a step back and say WHOA.
This is the sole reason why I would not trade Braylon\Leon for Marshall right now, stats mean nothing in a case like this.
-
and I was so sure Chauncey was going to keep the job!
well, i’ll eat crow since i thought even Chester Taylor was a “pipedream”. i love the move and i hope LT balls this year.
-
oleosmirf, I agree with you. Jets better not let LEON go! LEON is a game changer and offenses must keep tabs on him, which will free up other playmakers to make our offense a nightmare for most defenses. LEON is a ballplayer with ability to make guys miss when he is on top of his game.
Now, Marshall for Edwards is another thing to consider, but I’m not for giving up the farm for Marshall. However, I’m sure Denver would take less. The draft is deep to develop another group of core players, so Tanny and Rex better start thinking building debt in key positions. A 2yr deal for Sharper wouldn’t be bad either and money shouldn’t be a issue, if the JETS won’t to win now. JETS been starving for another SB and the opportunity is NOW with the key additions!
-
CA JETS FAN,
I didn’t like what I was hearing out of Cleveland about Braylon either, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as what I’ve been hearing about Marshall. Cromartie has made mistakes, but they’re harmless. Marshall seems to be a misfit and undermine the team idea.
Anyway, I would love some vertical help even though we have a few guys that can take care of that (Braylon if he can take more advantage of his opportunities, Clowney if he can arrive and Allison)
As far as underneath, Cotchery would be excellent in that roll.
I’m sorry LW is a potential game breaker everytime he touches the ball. We need that homerun threat out of the backfield. I like would I’ve seen out of Chauncey Washington, but he’s more of a ground and pound type guy (hard to bring down).
-
Oleo..all the WC is..is it provides an extra blocker…
It is not magical if you know Leon is running it, and it is not an illusion if LT lost a step. Brad throws a better ball than LT…Again guys..I live in SD and have since LT’s second year. I love the guy and have so much respect for him. I think he is great for our team and for Shonne. He is a top 5-10 all time back and maybe top 5-10 football player all time. SD (norv) did not know how to use him and wasted 4 years of his career. I am excited, but disagree…Brad Smith is our option i nthe wild cat…he was a college QB and threw and underthrown 47 yarder to Cotch in the playoffs. He is a weapon
-
I wouldnt want Brandon Marshall. He’s a terrible human being and I cant support someone like that.
-
Crazy,
Cromartie is not a team guy in SD. He was one of the many partying the night b4 the Jets playoff game, and was been bad mouthing the ways he was used out here for the last 2 years. So we obviously feel as a FO that we can fix these guys to our team ways. Why not make a push for a guy who is IMO twice as talented as Braylon?
-
OLEO,
Why is he a terrrible human being? What has he done worse that child support legal cases and punching guys in night clubs (CRO and Braylon)? Again these are off the field issues. Our organization picks talent over character obviously. We proved it with those 2 guys. Why not make a push then?
-
CA,
To steal your argument, how would Moss fare without Tom Brady passing him the ball. Well, this we already know, 69 catches 1008 yards in 2008. Compare this to 98-1493 the season before (with Brady) and 83-1264 last year. So how good would he be with Tervaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels passing him the ball. While he wasn’t horrible in 2008, that is a significant difference almost 500 less yards and 30 catches less than the previous season.
-
On a few other notes….we desperately need a better veteran QB as a backup…how about Bulger?
And I am a huge fan to make a go for Sharper (that is more a like of mine that Marshall) :)
-
JetsFanin SF…
That is a great arguement, and I agree with that. I just would like to see a few more years of Sidney before I call him a top tier receiver.
-
Hey CA Jets Fan,
I will not argue that Marshall is a beast and I wouldn’t hate a move for him (depending who we give up). I don’t always agree with the moves the Jets make, but I support them once they’re Jets.
-
enough with the does he or doesn’t he have in him…godbless…LT is still an upgrade over TJ in any year…and i liked TJ…but enough is enough…thank god we got LT and he’ll prove it to the fans that he was worth it…just my thoughts…
-
BTW..Moss also played great with other QB’s too
Dante Culpepper, Randal Cunningham (at 40)..Warren Moon (at 41ish)..
-
Crazy,
Well said! I am scared of Marshall, and I also want to say I am a big character guy. I love Cotchery and TJ and Revis type guys..Mangold etc.
This organization is taking risks on guys that have issues, so I do not see why they would not run after a guy like this is all.
We are obviously trying to win a SB b4 the lockout! GO JETS!
-
lets worry about a pass rusher now..
-
CA,
I will agree that Rice has more to prove, but I still would rather him on my team right now than Moss.
As far as backup QB, I think Bulger would be a nice addition. I was originally hoping for Delhomme and I think we need someone other than Clemens.
-
Cameron Wimbley was available for picks..Went to the Raiders~
-
Better keep Leon—-someone has to play when LT sits down during the playoffs.
-
I am not a fan of Clemens either…he has zero confidence. Delhomme wanted to start…
Can you all believe this..Delhomme may be the highest paid QB in the NFL next year? He get 12 from CAR and 7 from CLEV…19 mill for all those picks.
-
I’d rather have LT and no thomas jones. than no LT and NO thomas Jones.
i wanted jones to stay, but that ship sailed a month ago. We just upgraded Sanchez’s targets with this signing, even if he lost a step.
-
I don’t want Marshall. One gut of questionable character(Cromartie) is an exception.—–Two is a trend.
-
I think the chance of the Jets matching a Leon offer just went down significantly.— We may be looking at an extra 2nd round pick.
-
we gotta still keep leon
-
as long as rex stays with the jets (i.e.healthy & out of trouble), he can attract almost any talent legally available. What a change from Mangini!
-
if we give up leon were screwed….we need greene n LT for that pound and ground and neon leon for that explosive 30-40 yard gains
-
and he amazing on special teams lets not forget
-
I THINK when ALL you HATERS/NON-BELIEVERS SEE the role LDT is gonna have with US,you ALL WILL be changing your tune. GOOD DAY for the JETS today! J-E-T-S JETS! JETS!! JETS!!!
-
and if tanny lets him go…he will kill us when he prolly signs w the patriots
-
and as far as ALL of you who are saying Leon BETTER do THIS anmd BETTER do THAT….HOW ABOUT just get HEALTHY and be 80% of what he used to be and THAT is MORE than enough!! GET WELL LEON!
-
i mean think bout it- greene and LT w that blazing fast leon …..just leon n greene or leon and LT behind sanchez is reall tuff combo…now if we let leon go than weree depending on greene n LT all season…which considering they both injury prone-we’d be screwed
agree? -
mattyboy,
Why would Tanny release Leon if he is under contract? If anything he will be traded or will sign a deal with another team which the Jets won’t match. He has a 2nd round tender though, so if nobody offers him a deal he will be playing in NY for 1.5 mil. The Patriots won’t offer him a deal since they just resigned Faulk.
-
I agree that we should keep Leon though, unless another team offers him a huge contract, or offers us a trade that we cant refuse.
-
LT gonna look bad azz w that tint on facemask
-
I THINK when ALL you HATERS/NON-BELIEVERS SEE the role LDT is gonna have with US,you ALL WILL be changing your tune. GOOD DAY for the JETS today! J-E-T-S JETS! JETS!! JETS!!!
-
and as far as ALL of you who are saying Leon BETTER do THIS anmd BETTER do THAT….HOW ABOUT just get HEALTHY and be 80% of what he used to be and THAT is MORE than enough!! GET WELL LEON!
-
dylan,
i kno we wont release him bc he under contract…but what im sayn is we cant let him go …period…..if we do then im gonna start gettn a lil nervy bout this whole thing
-
If we were in dire need of a WR I could see contemplating the risk of trading for Marshall, but we are a RUNNING TEAM – Marshall does not carry the ball.
-
Is LT taking 21 from Lowery? How about Pool? Isn’t he #21 as well?
-
mattyboy,
Yeah I agree that we should keep him. Greene, Leon, LT, and Smith (in the wildcat) are going to run all over teams.
-
LT gets #21 over both those dudes…lowery needs to pay hommage still
-
for all those agaisnt getting marshall for character issues…enough with that kind of talk…edwards has character issues and cant catch…most were agaisnt getting him…now its taboo if we trade him for marshall…
MARSHALL made cutler and the other loser he played with last year look good…so the talk of having chemistry with sanchez isn’t gonna be a problem…and he catches almost everything thrown his way…and yea i read he dropped more balls than edwards…well he was thrown 2 around 150 times…so dropping 1-2 more balls than edwards…isnt an issue…that just tells me he’s a play maker…the COACHS and the QB both trust him to be the man and playmaker at the most important times of a game…this guy is a big time play maker in todays NFL…no1 can try to convince me other wise…just my thopughts…
-
mattyboy – LOL
-
dylan
u got it right on the nose my friend….lose tj and add lt and keep the rest the same- enuff said!!!!
-
dakar,
Braylon punched a guy at a club. Marshall got a man killed, beats up women, assaulted a police officer, and has a DUI. Comparing them is ridiculous. Braylon made a mistake or two. Marshall is a F-d up human being.
-
u guys r talkin about marshall like u guys know him jus wat the media says doesnt mean its all true give him a change of scenary and i guarantee u he would be a different person
-
LT WILL BREAK A FEW FOR US THIS YEAR AND EVERY1 WILL FORGET ABOUT TJ…AND MARSHALL WILL MAKE SANCHEZ WHO IS ALREADY GOOD… LOOK GREAT IN HIS 2ND YEAR…THATS IF WE TRADE FOR MARSHALL…JUST MY THOUGHTS…
-
Dylan – That’s what I’m saying!
-
Crazy Jets Fan!!!,
Its true. Its ridiculous how everyboy defends him just because he can catch a freakin football. That dude is messed up! I don’t want him in our locker room. Getting into a little trouble is one thing. But Marshall is on a Pacman Jones level.
-
If I bought a tomlinson vikings jersey on nflshop.com do I get my money back?
Great sign for the jets…if three years ago you told me that the jets were going to get lt I would have laughed in your face…gotta love the mikey t and rexy turn around. I’d like to see leon go for a top 15 2nd rounder, something we could package with our 1st for a higher 1st if there is a player we need still on the board but won’t drop to 29. I’m not quite sure I want to expose franchize to a player like brandon. Braylon, cotch and hopefully a rookie wr along with keller and lt’s screen play seems like enough weapons. How about a guy like javon walker? I don’t believe that wr is as big a need as dline and olb
And if anyone doesn’t think that calvin johnson is an elite wr, they don’t watch enough football. The numbers he’s put up with the team around him, even being the only weapon on the team and getting thrown to by dan “I can run out the back of the endzone, right?” Orlovsky, are unheard of. -
dylan
i for 1 understand why marshall had words…when your from a shiiiiity hood you react 1st ask ?s later…you dont let no1 talk down to you if you concider yourself a man…unless your a chump…how many of us got into fights over words at his age…i bet alot of us did…so honestly to say marshall is the cause for some1 to murder his friend is completely ridiculous…he cant have predicted or controlled another man’s choices in life…he certainly didn’t pull the triger…just my thoughts…
-
just give Brandon Marshall a one on one meeting with sexy Rexy and he will never do anything illegal again in his life. Rex is that kind of coach and this is the team to turn around players
-
I wasn’t a fan of the LT move, but I wish him the best. I hope he rushes for 1,000yds along with Greene’s 1500yds. The only way this happens though is if Schotty realizes that Callahan has the right schemes for our team. Schotty’s role should be at the level that it was at the end of the season, not the first. Rex will have to put Schotty back in his place more than he will like. I wish Schotty was gone, but we will have to make the best of whatever it is he brings.
-
dakar,
There are a lot of players that come from bad neighborhoods. Its still shouldn’t be used as an excuse to beat on women (more than once) and to get into trouble with the law multiple times every year. He even admitted to escalating a fight with a man who ended up shooting at his car and killing his teammate. I do think that everybody deserves a second chance but Marshall has had way too many chances.
-
I like this formation… 5 Great pass catchers and 2 of which are dangerous RB’s
WR1 – Edwards
WR2 – Cotchery
TE – Keller
RB1 – Washington
RB2 – TomlinsonOr – “The Horned Frog” Formation…
QB – Tomlinson
RB1 – Green
RB2 – Washington
WR – Smith
7 Offensive Lineman -
pacman jones and stallworth…
pacman hangs with thugs…and doesn’t deserve to play another game in the NFL…a guy is crippled because of him and his boys…
stallworth killed a man while he was drunk driving…
marshall is in noway the same as them…im not saying he’s an angel…but you cant put him in the same class as those 2…
and besides…if we do get him and catches TD after TD…you and every1 in here will forget about his character issues…just my thoughts…
-
in denver !!!!!! IMAGINE NYC… new yorkers will push that button for a big payday
-
dakar,
If we sign him I will support him cause he is part of the team. I wouldn’t be willing to give up anything significant to get him though. I don’t like him as a person and I don’t really think we need another #1 WR.
-
Welcome LT
I wonder how dissappointed the Vikings are ? They seemed quite confident. Being a vindictive person myself, I can see Minnisota going after Leon.
The bad news here is that their second round pick is at the end of the round. -
dylan
im not using where he’s from as an excuse…and whose to say that williams and walker didn’t have words either…and again to blame him for his friend’s death is ridiculous…put it this way…
if you argued with some1 online waiting for a ch.burger and he comes back and shoots micky d’s up and people die will you be the 1 whose to blame…think about…should you be held responsible for another man’s actions…no…and the same can be said of marshall…but i guess we’ll agree to disagree…
-
James in TN-
You don’t see the flaw in your argument about Schott when he used to be a coach for the Bolts, he and LT have a good relationship, Schott is using a similar offense to the one the Bolts ran in LT’s heyday and Schott was one of the people who recruited LT?
Or is LT yet another know nothing hall of famer?
I give you Schott haters credit, you can bring the hate even when it flies in the face of the evidence.
-
dakar,
The problem is that since that whole issue he has been arrested or in trouble with the law FIVE different times. You would think that after somebody died partially do to him escalating the fight, he would at least try to stay out of trouble. If he was truly apologetic he would try to stay out of trouble. Driving drunk and beating a woman tells me that he doesn’t have any common sense in him and that he doesn’t have the ability to stay out of trouble.
-
Dylan and Dakar – He’s an incredible talent, but I just see him as trouble. Not good for the locker room chemistry. I just hope that if the Jets were to get him and his immense ability, that it doesn’t blow up in their face. Who wouldn’t want him if he was going to behave himself overall.
-
Hopefully LT learns from Jerome “The Bus” Bettis and takes full advantage of his lesser role. Learning to get the most out of playing second fiddle got The Bus a ring and the love/respect of Steeler fans. If LT wants a ring he’ll learn from the Bus. Besides you never know Greene could struggle and if LT is up on his game he could earn/get more touches. J-E-T-S
-
For what its worth Schefty is reporting its 5.1 mill with incentives to get up to 5.6 mill. So what are we going to do with that extra 1 million haha
-
You guys just got yourselves a great player and an even greater human being! He has plenty of gas left. When you only have 200+ touches, you don’t get that yardage, plus with a good fullback in front of him…you’ll see. Anyway, I have to split alliances now and will be a Jet fan (unless chargers-jets play). Ladainian is that good! Congratulations!!!
-
He’s actually a pretty humble guy, but emotional. HE won;t be any trouble in the locker room or on the field. Ask anyone who ever played with him…
-
Now the person who might give your locker room trouble is Cromartie. Good luck with that one…
-
MEL31602, It’s more because TJ was supposed to make 6 mil this year and LT’s 5.1 is divided by two.
-
Crazy Jets Fan- I meant we saved a million because the initial report was we signed LT for 5.2 million rather than 5.1. I realized we saved more with TJ gone because his deal was for one year
-
When everyone was freaking out that the Jets were moving from LI to NJ I assured them “when we have a world class facility, in one of the nicest communities in the country with easy access to the big apple” guys who would have told the gets to go packing in the past would want to come here. Combine that with the organization (not team) Woody and Mr. T are building and we’ve gone from laughing stock to very desirable.
No more losing guys like Reggie White to the Packers, those days are over. GO JETS… Welcome LT you give us one more option other teams have to game plan around.
-
jetsfaninsouthflorida where in south florida do you live i live in west palm/ boca area
-
dylan
the fact that he and every1 put williams death on his sholders and keeps getting in trouble just tells me the guy needs some help mentally…but its not a reason i wouldn’t want him on my team…a change of scenary can help…just my thoughts…
-
Pats & Fish are pretty psyched we dumped TJ to pick up LT> I hope I have this wrong. Northeast football is wet, cold, tough, bruising gridiron & demands hard nosed backs that can take punishment. I have never seen LT show those traits, certainly not in the past few years.
I wonder if Tanny/Rex think his short catch ability will just be a major release for Sanchez.. But then, Greene has not yet proven that he can handle a 16+game season. I wish I understood what they are thinking. Rex is not a guy who buys hype easily.
-
You guys got Brandon Marshall too? Nice!
-
id give them leon cotch and our second n lets have both braylon and marshall
-
WW85 – They might think Chauncey Washington is going to be in the rotation or maybe they intend on drafting a bruiser. The X-Factor here is Leon. How will they use him IF he’s still here.
-
To all who busted on me the other night, the contract is exactly what I said it would be. My source has never been wrong. Maybe I’ll give you other info when I get it if I get some sorry’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Alright we bring the centerpiece from the team could never win the big game. And hes on the downside of his career.
-
Feel like this a PSL thing.
-
LT isn’t the reason we have never made it….We’re just not committed. And, even his downside is 10X better than most RB’s upside. He has a couple of 1000+ season left. His biggest contribution is TD’s. Catching or running and sometimes passing. He was 12th in TD’s last year and usually top 10. You’ll get your money’s worth.
-
chargermom
no we didnt get marshall…we’re just giving our opinions on why or why not the jets should get him…
some people even go the lenght of saying that marshall is beyond rehabilitation…he’s a lost cause…
and i for 1 do not agree with that he’s not worth giving a shot at changing…but according to some people he should be put to death because he’s a lost cause…
-
Is Shotty’s plan, maybe, to hope someone takes Leon and then package up to draft Berry? That’s what I would do…. just some thoughts.
-
Guys, give our O line some cred. Even with a past his prime (Hall Of Famer may I say) he still has a few years in the tank to contribute with our O line.
-
err Mike, not Shotty
-
Great signing im stoked for next season and about Leon, I doubt any team is gonna take a chance on giving up a 2nd round pick for a soon to be 28 yr old back that just came off a severe injury, that being said I would rather the Jets match any offer because we need Leon for special teams and when healthy is out home run hitter if you know what I mean.
-
Crazy: I can’t see how they draft a back– we are going to carry 4 backs? Or Leon is getting traded? This all seems so strange-I just can’t see what LT brings unless Tanny knows Leon just wont be able to play anywhere near his old level. So Leon is traded for 3rd-4th round pick & we take a bruiser?
Who is going to pound the rock?
-
Thanks Dakar. Not sure Marshall should be taken out and shot either. maybe a prima donna, but everyone grows up, right? We have an immature V. Jackson who we also hope will grow up a little. Braylon did you fairly well last year, right? I think Marshall would be a good addition…but who knows. Good luck! You’re my second choice to make it to the sb….so you’ve just earned a new fan!
-
WW85,
This years draft is loaded with good backs and most of them have good size. If we pick a back up in say the 4th round, we could probably get someone decent and not break the bank
-
Oh, and wherever your opening game is…there are a bunch of us LT fans who plan to come with our SD 21 jerseys on and chant LT, LT, LT… so watch for us (we come in peace)!
NY is nice in the fall! Of course, your first game might be in Buffalo or something huh!
-
WW85,
No doubt, it’s Shonn Greene. It’s just a matter of who is in the mix. Last Year it was TJ, Leon with a sprinkle of Shonn until Leon got hurt and then Shonn started to see more time until he basically took over. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out. Shonn and LT with a little Leon? Chauncey Washington waiting in the wings on the practice squad?
-
Chargermom,
Welcome to the family! You are gonna like it here.
-
BTW I doubt Broncos trade Marshall im guessing they will keep him for Brady Quinn to create a chemistry with.
-
OK, so I guess Leon is basically done as a Jet-or are they keeping him to try & field punts?
He’s a Jet now so I’m gonna stop whining about it.
-
GET MARSHALL NOW. GIVE UP THE 29TH AND GET’ER DONE. HOW MUCH FOR THE LT JERSEYS? YYYYEEEESSSS!!!!
-
I love NY. But my dad is gonna be pissed b/c he lives in Maine and is a NE fan :-) I’ll love the Jets all b/c of LT, unless of course they play SD. Have to remain loyal, no matter the heart break!
-
Hope he gets to keep the #21!
-
WW85 – I feel you. I don’t want Leon to walk. He was one of our best players. Hopefully he’ll have a full recovery, have a great year and finally make somebody have to back the truck up.
-
Besides, Sanchez is a so cal kid!
How much do you think Marty had to do with LT’s decision?
-
chargermom
welcome aboard…its always a great thing adding to the jets fan base…
clint…
marshall will make QUINN look good just like he made ortin and cutler look good…
ww85
leon isn’t going anywhere unless some1 gives up a 2nd and a good contract offer…
and the jets dont have to draft a RB…there are so many coming out in this years draft we can bring in a few as undrafted FAs…just my thoughts…
-
That money should have went to TJ. I dont want to hear about LT being a good fit. Tj had twice the year as LT and less miles on the legs. This is a psl move.
-
I’m thinking they will forego an every down back & just use Greene, Leon & LT. I don’t think that sets up for a good post season, but who knows maybe there will be great chemistry out there.
-
reality jets fan ive been reading your post for a couple days now and feel u r way out of touch with reality….look deeper into the game of football, and find more then just stats, psl, millage and u might learn something….
-
Lets get marshall and become the redskins of the afc.
-
What can i learn ? To talk like i am a fan of a team that has actually won something. I love the new coach and qb but nwe have not won anything.
-
hey guys, I’m new here too…been lurking for a long time, but now want to start posting
-
I forgot there is no bad words to be spoken against the jets fo.
-
I am sorry i felt mileage and stats were essential to a rb.
-
as long as we continue to rush for 170 – 200 yards a game…i dont care whose in the back field…even though we know it will be greene then LT…leon in other situations…if he’s still here ofcourse…just my thoughts…
-
I am pumped about football starting again and can’t wait! I think they should have kept TJ, but i do feel like LT might have something left in the tank..do i also think this is a PSL move, yeah maybe, but they chose to let TJ go and id rather have LT at this point, than neither of them…no need to draft a RB…this team NEEDS a pass rusher
-
As usual the pom poms are out . For a team that never makes a bad decision you figure there would be a superbowl sprinkled in there somewhere since 1969
-
Mark my words….If somebody signs Leon, Mike T will take the 2nd round pick in a heartbeat.
Any player who has complained about their current contract or have been a pain the a** to Mike T haven’t lasted for more than a year.
Mike T plays hardball with $$$ unless it’s a player that he is in love with.
Leon (Keels the Idiot), Coles and Baker (now with Seattle) won’t be on the Jets roster.
Just my opinion.
-
gang green
welcome aboard…how you like it so far…
-
gang Green,
Yeah we definitely need another pass rusher. Pace is good but BT isn’t really much of a threat. I like Graham and Hughes in the draft. Maybe we could also pick up a guy like Joey Porter or Adalius Thomas.
-
Lets get T.O. and marshall.
-
Also if somebody signs Leon, won’t that allows us to sign an UFA that we want (like Sharper)?
-
hey reality,
im as pessismistic as they come with my sports team..im a die hard mets and jets fan so it is def tough…that being said, this regime and this team is kinda refreshing to watch when i see how my baseball team operates…also, no offense but you seem like no matter what this team does, you have an issue with something…i guess i sort of feel the same way about the mets but this team is operated very differently and in most cases smartly…
-
stoneman
you may be right…but i wouldnt say the talent they bought in hasn’t done their job…if not better…
-
Sorry to disappoint you Bassett lol
RT @judybattista: One more Jets tidbit: I’m told that the rumors about them going after Brandon Marshall “have no legs.”
-
Thing is TJ is coming off a career high in carries-
that is the kiss of death for RBs over 30…If LT was being brought in here to “carry” us to the Super Bowl…I would laugh and be insulted
But he is being brought in to back up Greene, provide the Jets with reliable carries (does not fumble), be a check down for Chez and provide the team with veteran leadership
Ive watched every game the guy has played for 6 years, he cant make something out of nothing anymore, but if the play is blocked up front he can still be an effective, smart runner. He is good at finding holes in zone blocking schemes, and although he does not have TJs power, he wont fall down like TJ did when cutting back…
Time will tell, but TJ is gone…he fled for the money on a garbage team…thats the reality
-
That War Machine touchdown run against San Diego has become somewhat ironic. He gets a cheap shot from Comartie in the endzone and then mocks LT’s touchdown celebration. All three are now Jets.
-
dakar, thanks man…i love this site…been lurking for a long time…
dylan, i dont like graham….I LOVE HIM!!….HE IS AN ABSOLUTE ANIMAL…and if there is anyway tanny can trade up to get him, he would be the guy to get…just dont see him slipping to #29…odrick or hughes should be there at 29 though in case they cant trade up..
-
reality y do u stay on this website wen all u do is bash the jets? get a life!
-
gang Green, 30 years watching this team sh%t the bed takes a toll. I was wrong about rex he did a great job. But all of the sudden he is the best coach in the nfl? I would like to actually win something before believing that this team does no wrong. I am excited about next year. But TJ was not only a better player last year, less miles, locker room leader, role model. and great influence on our young players. But just because the jets do something does not mean i blindly think it is right. And i feel for you bud being a met and a jet. Thank the lord ia m a yankee fan(SPOILED)
-
reality jet fan
You’re completely overreacting man-
This team has gone no where but up since Mr T and especially Rex took over…you cant dwell on the past because this is a new team, new coach, new regime…its not Leon Hess’s Jets. The No Super Bowl thing does not apply…these guys weren’t here before
Its not cheerleading man…these guys deserve the good faith for the progress they’ve made here…
Ive tried to tell you this- you’re flipping out over a backup RB that got a two year deal- he isnt even going to start
Relax…breathe deep…its gonna be ok
-
dakar,
I remember when the Jets Cap was screwed up and really prevented our team from signing high-priced free agents. Mike T has been a solid GM and has Managed our cap exceptionally well. Here’s to another BIG TRADE and an exceptional draft to turn the Jets into SB winners.
-
So a life is staying on this website and living in jet fantasy land?
-
gang Green,
Yeah I agree with you on all of those guys. I think Graham is going to be a monster in this league. He has the speed to get get around blockers and the size and strength to go through them. Him and Pace would be great together. He is the one player in the draft that I would love to trade up for.
-
Eddie i just cant always agree with everything they do .And i really thought Tj was important and a great jet.
-
gang
your welcome…
i wouldn’t be suprised if rex and tanny pick a pass rusher in the later rounds…just like A.THOMAS and T. SUGGS were…just my thoughts
-
I love this coach and QB. I really do i cant wait for this season and i trust the coach and the gm. But the LT move feels like a psl move.
-
And i know i make pom pom comments but i never say that someone cant state their opinion or should get off the sight.
-
On Leon Washington
If the 2nd round pick is in the top 1/3 then I think there is too much risk to Leon, post injury. Take the pick.
But if it is in the later 1/3 of the 2nd, I think you retain him.
Between the 2 it is a tough call.On LT
The team will need to find a way to let him rest before the playoffs. If his legs are fresh for the big games, he can still be a weapon on 15 plays or so.On Marshall
Pairing Marshall and Edwards would give this team the firepower to compete with the elite. Can’t wait to see that headline. -
dylan, couldn’t agree more man…when i saw him in the senior bowl, i was like…”damn this guy is a beast”…just not sure how we can trade up to get him…i like hughes too from TCU…i dont know much about odrick but ive heard he’s good..
reality, yeah i hear man but just imagine bein a mets fan for a minute….i call the mets the barnum and bailey mets caus pretty much everything they do is circus like…if you were a mets fan, you would prob kiss the ground the jets FO walked on which is what i would do hahah…but you’re a yankees fan so you’ve had 5 championships in the past 15 years so yeah id feel spoiled too haha…since mr. t took over for bradway this team has almost always made great decisions…its nice to see one of my teams isnt a complete laughing stock
-
Eddie you are right my man. But you know old habits die hard. But im telling you they go get marshall and we are the afc redskins
-
this move just does not make sense
-
RJF
I know you can’t…I drink the Kool Aid with the best of them…when Mangini was the coach I wasnt as happy go lucky…Im just trying to explain to you where these people are coming from…
I loved TJ too…but the truth is the Jets played their best ball down the stretch when TJ was on the decline. Look it up, I wouldnt lie to you
I went through the same thing with Bernie Williams, it sucks man
to everyone else…reality jet fan is a pretty cool when you get to talking to him…he just gets a lot more pissed than most of us when he doesnt like what the team is doing
-
seems to me that getting LT for 2 years at 5.5 million is better than Jones at 5.8 million for just next season, including his bonus in there…………and jones has knee issues end of the year…..maybe jets no more about that then we do……………………GANG GREEN BABY…….lets start the season
-
Gang green i hear ya bud. Mr. t has done alot of great moves i just cant think it is all going to work every time.
-
Shonn Greene did his own version of LT’s TD celebration in the game that knocked LT’s team out of the playoffs. Now LT is going to be backing up Greene. That’s amusing.
-
Didn’t want this move to happen, but now that it has I will get behind it. Was the same with Favre – didn’t want him but rooted like hell for him when he was here.
Still wondering if this might affect Leon. I could see the Jets taking the 2 for Leon (if there is a suitor) and drafting some fresh blood at RB.
-
i agree they prob should have kept TJ, but for whatever reason they chose not to and id rather have LT then no one else…also, i loved jones but hes 32 (i know the mileage isnt a TON) but his knee was acting up a lot this year and i just picture a shaun alexander like decline…i hope im wrong and i hope he does well in KC, but these guys have the potential to decline rather quickly so i can understand the way they went..
-
RJF
Unless we rip off the Broncos for Marshall- like our 2nd rounder for him this year- I’ll be pissed
We give up any of our core guys- like DH or JCo- and I’ll be disgusted
-
Eddie you have a great week my man . Good night bud.
-
No marshall please.
-
id love to get marshall but if it involves any of our core players, pass…i dont even wanna trade cotch in a deal for him…i love cotchery..he proved to be extremely valuable this year and he doesnt drop anything…id trade braylon before i traded cotchery…
-
gang
like i said so many times before…i’d trade edwards for marshall in a heart beat…
-
I doubt they would want Braylon now since they have Quinn. Quinn and Braylon didn’t exactly pair well, I imagine they will keep Marshall for Brady. I wouldn’t mind having Eddie Royal from them though.
-
Ladainain is more than mileage and he certainly has the stats. Will he have an MVP season again like 06? No way. 07-08 he played over half the games with injuries (ACL in 07 and turf toe in 08). He still had 1500+ seasons those two years. 09 he had 700+ but only 200 something touches and no real fullback in front of him. He can smell the endzone and is indeed a smart runner. Not a big power back, but fast and smart and loves getting tds. Also a decent passer and is good for 3rd down catches too.
I can’t wait to hear from you guys mid-season. You’ll totally understand by then how special this guy is.

I am not on the TJ bandwagon as much. Yes he’s been dependable which is hard to come by for a RB, but he’s is not the greatest talent. He’s been tough and consistent. Last year he rubbed me the wrong way when he started criticizing the coach publicly for not sitting Favre in the final game of the season for a chance to make the playoffs. Also, if it’s true he got in a fight with Kerry Rhodes where he laid him out, that could also factor in the Jets jettisoning him.
-
They should have kept TJ
-
here we go jets !!!! ITS OUR TIME JET NATION
-
Do you think shonn greene and L T will both be doing the hand behind the head flip dance in the end zone this year. Pretty ironic that LT is here now I’m sure the two will discuss if they haven’t already (on the lighter side). I was against the move but I trust the front office and now think it could work.
-
clint
you maybe right…especially since MARSHALL makes all the QB’s he’s played with look better then they are…
but i doubt denver wants to keep MARSHALL…they want to get what they can before he’s a FA…next year… if there is a nfl football next year…just my thoughts… -
dylan – I’m pumped too!!
-
why does every1 say greene was mocking LT in that game…has any1 other than myself think he did LTs move as a good jesture…as a tribute…
-
there already sellin his jersey at jetsshop
-
I’m not a huge fan of this move, but there’s no doubt that LT gives the Jets more versatility than they would’ve had with TJ. Even with, arguably, less in the tank than TJ, LT is still a better receiver, blocker and goal line back. And, Schotty wanted him. Also, in the unlikely event the Jets lose Leon, LT would be a good 3rd down back. I still would like the Jets to add an FB/RB in the draft or UDFA to groom to take over for T-Rich. But, now that the deal is done, I have to say that I’m curious about how LT will run with a far better OL and whether the Jets will now pass more to the RBs, something that was pretty much not in the playbook last year.
-
What number are they giving him?
-
OK, I’ll admit it. This season won’t be the first time I’ve rooted for LT playing in NJ. There was that time he played the Jets and scored 4 td’s, while he was starting on my fantasy team. Of course, I still wanted the Jets to win….
-
Chargermom,
He will probably get #21 and Lowery will change numbers. If not, he might take TJ’s number (20) or Rhodes’s number (25).
-
Dwight Lowery (CB) has 21 now. Is he a starter? Think Ladainian can “buy” it from him?
-
I think he’s earned the number, yeah? You are getting a first ballot HOF-er. I can’t imagine him in any number other than 21.
-
I sure hope they take Lowery’s number from him. That would make my day.
-
Dwight Lowery is the worst player on our team.
-
LOL, that bad huh?
-
Chargermom,
He is our #3 CB right now. He hasn’t really proven himself yet (last year was only his second season) so I think he will give LT the number.
-
Dwight Isn’t that bad..Pierre Garcon is just his kryptonite.
-
Garcon was a lot of CB’s kryptonite!
-
He, along with Lito, lost the AFC chanpionship game.
-
Lol Lowery isn’t a terrible player. He just got abused by Manning in the AFC Championship Game. He had to start since Lito was playing terribly and Strickland got hurt.
-
I think most CBs look pretty awful across from Revis. Hopefully Cromartie can handle being targeted 30 times a game.
-
Well, not for nothing, Manning and company can make any defense look bad….You guys had it for the first 1.5 quarters…then the machine that is Manning was on. What can you do.
Get there this season though!!! If my Chargers don’t get there (and it’s not looking good with our team getting decimated), then get that ring on LT’s finger!!!
-
LT is taking 21…Lowery is the nickel back…They are already making LTs head in bronze for Canton
Lowery should give LT the number on respect alone
-
BASSET or anyone — do you know how many yards TJ had in the second half of games last year? It seems like all his yardage came in the second half, after the OL beat down the opponents. Since San Diego had a pass first, pass often scheme — I think that really changes what you see from each back.
I think of LT like Emmit Smith. And at Dallas, they had a sick OLine that ran a lot.
-
It all hinges on Sanchez
Chez became a good QB…if he becomes a really good QB, the sky is the limit for this team
Chez takes the next step…we are just as much a contender as anyone out there
-
I would have no problem seeing Braylon and a pick go to Denver for Marshall. Remember how many times we pulled our hair out because of Braylon this past season!! The guy made some really tough catches, but missed sooooo many easy ones. I’d take Marshall over Braylon any day of the week, his skill and talent is way superior!!
Welcome to NYC LT2…Please prove these doubters wrong!!!!
-
why do we need brandon marshall
-
wasnt dwight playing on a banged up leg that slowed him down…
and let me say this…before strickland scott and dwight got hurt manning couldn’t get in the endzone…but as soon as coleman went in the game they scored..
not to mention greene gained like 30 yards to start the 2nd half then he got hurt and we relied on TJ and we all know had that went…or should i say didn’t go…
but i think not for injuries we would have won that game…and no1 can convince me other wise…just my thoughts
-
Once the sting of our loss to you in January wore off a bit, I had to give props to your dang coach telling the players they were going all the way. Talk about a self fulfuilling prophecy. I loved the gumption he had and not all arrogant and in your face with it, but just matter of fact. It was cool to watch (except for our game of course).
-
Brandon Marshall sat out a Week 17 game that could have put the Broncos in the playoffs- with a butt strain
Keep the numbers- Braylon, drops and all, plays hard all the time whether he gets 3 or 10 targets a game
-
Okay, so is Strickland a good guy? Cause he’s in SD now…. Funny how things work huh?
-
Chargermom
In all honesty, if you guys beat us- I have NO DOUBT your Bolts beat the Colts
You guys own Indy…funny how different teams matchup in the NFL
-
jjets
lukev just explained why…and he just makes the jets a whole lot better…and that much closer to a SB… and like i said before…MARSHALL makes QBs look better then they are…but with sanchez…he’ll just bring out his greatness alot sooner…just my thoughts…
-
Strickland is a great nickel corner when healthy
He beats up the slot recievers all day, and he is tough
just gotta stay on the field
-
Chargermom,
Yeah I agree with Eddie DiGio. Strickland is a very good nickle corner, but he was injured for most of the season.
-
Brandon Marshall didn’t sit he got benched.
BIG Difference. -
chargermom
strickland in my opinion is really good but his problems have always been injuries…if he can stay healthy he will make you proud to have him…i’ve always liked him…he’s a playmaker…
-
Yeah Eddie, that was all of our thoughts out here and I think we probably overlooked you guys, looking at the Indy game instead. That was our demise a couple years prior with NE too. You think we’d learn!
The good news for you is that Cro owned Manning his first year, so maybe he’ll get his mojo back with you guys and add pretty boy Brady to that list!
-
dakar i don’t like marshall to disgruntled and whines
-
We have Jammer who is solid (and knows how to tackle too) and there’s a chance 3rd year Cason might earn that second start. Sounds like Strickland might have a lot to teach him too.
-
jjets
i dont care about his whining…i love the guys playmaking ability…as for being disgruntled…thats with his current team…that can all change…
-
i don’;t know you seriously think they could get him, i rather keep draft picks
-
Chargermom
Yea, if you guys beat us, I was rooting for you. In fact, I was rooting hard for you guys vs New England- wanted to see LT and that young Charger team beat those boring Pats!!!!
I might still get that chance to see LT get his well deserved ring!!
-
Well Jet fans…happy to be an honorary member! You guys are much nicer than Giants fans! (lol – remember the battery covered by a snow ball thrown at our 65 year old equipment manager 6-7 years ago? Gave him a concussion).
Good luck this year! I’ll cruise on your boards every now and then and check on LT.
-
Yea we are gonna man Cro up against the other teams #2 and see what happens!!!!
-
jjets
i dont know if tanny will go after marshall…i do like edwards…but i just think marshall is a way better talent…he is consistant…but i wont cry either way… especially if edwards reverts back to his probowl year and catches everything in sight…just my thoughts…
-
This signing has Marque Tannenbaum’s face all over it (traitor mike, not trader mike) because he shafted thomas jones, A TRUE SOLDIER, out of deserved money and then he overpaid for LT. LT will never carry 300 times this upcoming season.

http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/jets/2010/03/lt-analysis-debunking-marshall.html
-i don’t know if you guys saw this but debunks marshall rumor
dakar,
i like braylon and think he is a beast. i am not sure why but i think he can be commited to having a great year with us. he likes it here and i think he has finally found a good place and good qb, i worry that tanny tries to make too many trades, want them to be a team. just my thoughts. i really like lt as a person and player and think there is really something wrong with tjs knees -
Cro just needs to not be a pretty boy and hit sometimes! And he needs to not have any more babies!!!
-
Hank, I agree. I hate this move, hate dumping TJ & hate bringing in an has been superstar to finish out his career.
He’s our guy now so I guess we have to start rooting for him. It’s not gonna be easy for me. TJ was Jet football.
-
guys i really think tj was real hurt last year and his knee may be a problem in the future
-
Whether or not you like LDT is beside the point, I think. What’s great about this signing is that we snagged a HOF’er because, wait for it.. He wants a chance to win a championship. When’s the last time we had guys signing for those reasons and meaning it? Tannenbaum and Slim have really built something here and I couldn’t be happier. Go Jets!
-
I cant believe but now that its actually done..I FEEL GOOD! Ima get all sexy rexy and say honestly i feel…SUPER BOWL good!!
-
joe
thats true…when has any1 ever sign here knowing they have a chance to win a ring…that will be NEVER…
-
if LT really believes we have a chance to win a RING…
then maybe that will get others to want to sign with us to…just like how they were all running to NE…yes,no maybe so… -
If golden tate is available just think how scary they will be on third down with those weapons. Tate in the slot, keller, cotch, edwards. And now LTs pass catching ability. I’m also giving a huge NOOOOOOO to brandon marshall,no need for the headache.
-
Did you hear something???…I think Bill Belicheat just crapped his pants…J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets….All i have to say is that every team in the AFC East will be chasing us…NE is now #2 in our division….
-
breaking news: francesa doesn’t like it!!!!!
:P -
Dakar –
Marshall is a great receiver, he just doesn’t make sense for us right now for multiple reasons.1) We have two #1 caliber receiver in Braylon and J-Co. Together they are one of the league’s top tandems.
2) we have several way cheaper yet effective options for our third wideout. Aundrae Allison and David Clowney could turn out to be good WR’s, you’ve seen what Clowney has done in the offseason. If you’ve seen his tweets, you’ll know he’s really trying to improve this year. With a full offseaason with Sanchez (once he can throw again) either of them could become our #3.
We could also look to free angency, Coles is still available, as is Kevin Curtis and T.O. I don’t think Curtis or Owens is coming, but i am a believer that Coles still has something to bring to the table as our #3.
If we go either of these ways, it would let us keep all our draft picks and add some instant impact players to the D in the first round.
3) if we don’t build from inside or go through FA, there are plenty of great options in round two of the draft. Marty Gilyard, Dennis Dickerson, and Jordan Shipley are 3 guys that will probably be around at #61. I think that we should wait till round four or five to draft a WR, but if Tanny picks any of the guys above i wouldn’t be disappointed.
3) Next year’s priorities have to be to sign Revis, Mangold, and Brick, and possibly Cro, Edwards, and LW if they perform well enough (which i believe they will). The last thing we need is a receiver, who thinks he’s god’s gift to football and that the world revolves around him, demanding the highest salary ever for a wideout. Because if you or any other Marshall wanter don’t think that is what he’s going to demand, and that there isn’t a team willing to pay that kind of money, you are crazy.
He just is not a fit for us right now, so you should just forget about him.
-
Just noticed the counting error. Whatever, just think of the numbers as bullets that are all equally important. Ha.
-
“LT will never carry 300 times this upcoming season.”
hank/naples
1-Who said he was???
2-Niether will TJ buddy boy
-
Signing LT to a modest contract is great news in this situation. As some posters have noted, this is a classic “Bus” situation with LT fulfilling the role of Bettis.
This signing gives Tanny a lot more room to move and will let him take the BPA on pretty much every pick.
I wouldn’t touch Marshall with a 10-ft pole. The team will have enough on it’s hands without trying to reform another alledged misfit. The jets receiving core is already decent and drafting a good rookie will just add to that (though the rookie will not likely start). You don’t need a top 5 receiver to win a SB. You do need a solid happy team.
-
Just noticed how i also didn’t mention the fact that we have Keller at TE. And the fact that we’re still a run first team. Think of how ridiculous it would be to sign Marshall to one of the biggest contracts in history. It would force us to change our whole mentality on offense, and i’m not sure how ready the Sanchize is for that.
We just got rid of one player with a huge ego, and weren’t able to sign one player that may have shown a little to much pride. Why would we trade away players and pick
-
s from the deepest draft in years?
-
for someone with a gigantic ego and a huge attitude problem?
-
bigkat
i know where your coming from…because i never doubted our WR corps…this rumor came up and all i said i would rather have marshall over edwards because he is way better talent…i also said i wont cry if we have edwards…because edwards is a good/great talent…and if he reverts back to his probowl year…no1 will complain…
but as for what we were talking about…wether i would like to have 1 over the other…the answer is yes because i already know what marshall will bring to the table…where as i wouldn’t know if edwards will do a better job of catching the ball…but i am a fan of both recievers and like either 1 on this team for as long as we can keep them…
-
Ok but the point is we can’t have Marshal, at least not for more then one year. We would not be able to keep him without losing at least two of the guys i mentioned before. We should just keep all six of the (maybe not Leon) instead of signing a guy who isn’t all that much more of a WR then Bray is. If Edwards does good this year he’d probably be willing to make a reasonable deal with us, after playing good with Sanchez. Not to mention he owes us from rescuing him from Cleveland. If Marshall has a good season, which he obviously would, he is gonna be looking for the biggest pile of money getting thrown his way. No doubt about that.
-
This is surreal, like its Big D or something……..Tanny over Terry Bradway, what a move.
-
I can see it now screen left, screen right to LT…Greene doing his think up the middle,Washington working his magic after these guys wear down opposing defenses…I cant even phathom the amount of rushing yards we will have this season…I haven’t heard anything yet but hopefully T Rich has signed on the dotted line…I can feel it this is the year..THIS IS THE YEAR…
-
bigkat
im not saying bring him in…we cant have him and edwards on the same team…they’ll kill each other…
but now,if the jets were gonna “trade” some1 and a pick for marshall…i would think they would send edwards…in fact i would want them to send edwards…thats all i’ve been saying…from the start…and its my opinion…
marshall will just make the team that much better with his talent…this guy marshall made KYLE ORTIN look good…now sanchez is much better than ortin…in my opinion that is…how much quicker will we see sanchez improve his game with a talent like marshall…
now thats not to say EDWARDS cant do the same…but he has to work at it where as it seems it comes more natural to MARSHALL…and to think Edwards wont want 10 mill. a year or more contract…then your the 1 who’s crazy…just sayin…
in the end…i am happy with what we have…never said i wasn’t…anyway, these are just my thoughts…
-
i didnt even read 1 comment on this thread because none of them matter at all. LT is a sensational pickup. not only for the jets as a company to sell there damn PSL’s. but in regards to winning football games this is great. now on all those 3rd and 6s when sanchez drops back nobodys open checks down in the flat to TJ to have him drop the ball or gain 1 yard. how about LT gunna give us what maybe another 3-5 first downs a game? okay. with a offensive line you can say about twice as good as the charger line maybe better with another year under goldy n bricks belt? LT comeback player of the year. now lets go get sharper and we can start pre-ordering our superbowl rings.
-
Dakar if Edwards wanted 10 mill after next season Tanny would show him the door on the end of his foot…Marshall isn’t worth the money or the PR nightmare that he is…
-
1 more thing…
i’ve always liked EDWARDS since his college days…and think he can be 1 of the best if he focuses his attention on whats at hand…another thing…CBs and WRs always want the big contracts…the player i would never want them to trade would be my man COTCH…that will piss me off if that ever happened…just my thoughts…
-
T-Rich is a must now. him lead blocking for LT alone will bring LT’s YPC ( for all those psychos who keep screaming about the damn YPC which doesnt matter at all anymore because LT is not on the chargers anymore, if thomas jones was on the chargers last year do you think he would have had 1,400 and 14 tds. HAHA no shot maybe and i mean maybe 1,150-1,200 for 8-10 tds) anyway LT is a very capable back. he is very familiar with Brian Schott. He is going to thrive.
-
Bigkat, wrong…..before Orton got hurt in Chi-town he was putting up a bunch of 300 yard balls…..He’s one guy I don’t like seeing people talk down. The dude got thrown into the fire, to work under one of them mutts out of Belichick’s litter. As least he’s not throwing up them balls for grabs balls like Cutler.
-
gang
your intitled to your opinion…just like i am…
-
dakar i 100% agree. if we give up cotchery and/or harris for marshall with our 2nd rounder and whatever else they will milk out of us i will literally riot until we do a trade back.
we do not need him at all. lets draft a young guy or hey if tanny and the jets wanna make a splash at reciever trade the F up and get dez bryant. brandon marshall get the hell out of my face -
they said jets going after marshall have no legs…..by multiple reports
-
hoz
this is all about what if scenarios
-
if i spelled it right scenario that is…
-
Dakar~ I’m with you completely!! Marshall is far superior to Edwards, so if i had the choice~gimme Marshall. BUT, i am completely ok with Edwards, Cotch, and who ever at #3. Look at how our running game opened up to a whole new level the week after signing Edwards, he’s clearly respected by defensive coordinators, he just needs to stop the drops!
-
Leon is NOT affected by this deal. This is a short term deal to dell PSL’s and get a possible good season out of LT2 with our pro bowl line. So to those of you who think Leon is gone because LT2 signed with the Jets, you are wrong. Leon is a whole other aspect of the game to the Jets besides special teams. He is our sideline to sideline carrier and can run the “Seminole” a lot better then or with Smith because of his speed and acceleration. LT2, Welcome to the Jets!
-
Very good signing. It gives us depth, flexibility with Leon. LT can still put the ball in the endzone, he did last year despite low rushing yd. totals. Especially if we keep Leon, then we have two backs with very good hands, something Greene and Jones don’t really have.
-
I don’t hate this signing. I think we’re gambling on Tomlinson’s upside but it’s not like we’re risking much. I’m ok with keepping our 1st round pick, but I wouldn’t hate signing Marshall either. To put it in perspective, he was the number one (and only) threat on a very limited offensive football team with a sub-par quarterback…and he set the record for catches in a game! He is a rare force that can dominate from the WR position. He is also a coward that beats women…and that’s why he’s available…tough call.
-
Okay……I am looking forward to seeing LT… Consider it a worthwhile risk…..welcome aboard ….
-
haha watch him break a knee against the chargers!
-
^^ chuckle chuckle too bad we don’t play the chargers this season
-
Big Katt, Vern Gholston is the Worst player on the team, not Lowery.
-
Okay. As I’ve said before, I’m not a big fan of this move. But now that LT2 is a Jet, I’m gonna hope for the best and pray that he isn’t washed up. I do like the fact that he has a chip on his shoulder, now. Belicheat and Parcells loved bringing in a RB that had a lot to prove to the world. This type of RB will give Leon as much time as needed to get healthy (if he is not picked up by another team).
And since we’re collecting Chargers lately, how about getting Vincent Jackson..lol
-
totally against this signing…..keeping Jones would’ve made more sense…..smh…..
-
Great signing!!!! Pool was also a good signing…Now it sounds like Tannenbaum may sign Coles and Adalius Thomas (when he finally gets released). Those would be great moves and put the Jets ahead of the Saints and Colts as the best team in football…
-
Yikes, one big trade and the lunatics come out of the woodwork! We’re not getting Marshall, the Broncs have no intentions of trading him and the Jets wan’t no part of him anyway. We’re set at WR as is and there’s no reason to create more holes to marginally upgrade at WR.
-
I like this. Basically the same deal as TJ’s, and I think the Jets filled a lot of the voids left when he left. LT can block, receive out of the backfield, can be a short yardage back and teach Greene the ways of the RB. Who better to teach Greene how to take care of himself & tricks of the trade than a guy who has been as good as LT for as long as he was (notice I said was, he’s not that good anymore, but he’s not completely done). I think going from the worst run-blocking line to the best run-blocking line you’ll see his YPC jump close to a full yard. Not a bad signing, not the best choice probably, but solid.
-
True, Brendan. D. Sproles’ ypc was 3.7 in 2009. Chargers o-line was atrocious.
-
I am sure it has been said a few times but I am still reading posts that say LT won’t be able to fill TJ’s void.
People…Greene is filling the void left by TJ not LT.
And stop complaining about the deal. Sackless Vernon makes more. No cap…and it’s not your money.
Good signing.
-
2011 Super Bowl Champion- New York Jets
/No sarcasm
/sounds good that it actually sounds reasonable!!
-
Mad Dog Mo-
He Makes The Best Point I have read since this whole LT vs TJ argument started.
LT isn’t filling TJ’s void Shonn Greene is. -
Anyone’s else think Leon is on the way out ?
-
BOYS WHATS NEXT?
-
I think signing LT has nothing to do with their intentions to retain Leon. Leon & LT are not similar backs even though they’re both excellent receivers. I think that, if anything, last year proved that this offense requires 3 capable backs. The way last year ended (Jones hurting his knee, Greene stepping in and getting hurt in the AFC Championship game, having to play a hurting TJ) I think the Jets know they better keep Leon or else run the risk of running out of horses for the stable.
-
I think they want Leon and Keels out… so they can take that #2 pick and put it with something else to get Marshall…. I hate the idea but I think Keels is what will get Leon traded.
-
I am not sure how signing a 32 yr old 3rd down back really means Leon is on his way out?
I do agree they hate Keels but I dont think LT had much to do with it. He was a cheap 3rd down back that brings some different skills to the table than TJ did
-
If u can’t beat’em join’em I guess…Its so Ironic that Shonn mocked LT after being bumped by Cro and now there playing for us.
Man this is going to open up our playbook and make Sanchez that much better..
Now the lost “screen pass” can be used again. We’ve made so many moves and we still have the draft coming up. Feels Good to Be a Jet Fan
Can’t wait for Madden 2011!
-
sharper or oj. and maybe porter, you guys think tanny is going to make a play or he is getting ready for the draft to adress those other needs?
-
You really don’t see how this could effect Leon ??? We now have what they think is a starter in Greene and a back-up in LT ….Leon was a non factor last year… why not get rid of him for that 2nd rounder ???
This is what Tanny does. A guy coming off an injury with a douche agent demanding a contract…….I bet Leon is gone.
-
Pdubbs,
Because the Jets saw with their style of offense two backs just won’t be enough. They lost Leon, TJ got hurt and Shonn got hurt. So if 3 backs barely finished out the year, how would 2?
-
P Dubbs
I think Tanny will make another move probably a RFA in the next few weeks.
Plus…Leon still has to get an offer from someone for us to lose him. I would be suprised if we traded him for a 3rd or something of lesser value than the 2nd he currently tendered at.
I wiould keep him though
-
I get that… all I’m saying is I don’t think Leon will be the third.
Also, if the Jets are picking up or trying to pick up People like Marshall or possibly draft a “slot WR” then wouldn’t you think that our ground and pound game might not be the same ??
You guys are smarter then this….. the Jets do alot of things that don’t exactly make sense….like this LT move.
I’m just saying that I bet it will happen.
-
basically, leon for LT and a second rounder. if leon signs somewhere we also can sign a free agent of equal value. is that correct?
-
John,
No. He’s a RFA only UFA’s count towards increasing the Jets ability to sign other UFA’s.
Pdubbs,
The Jets are a running team. Rex has an idea of what he wants to do, and he saw last year with Flacco & Ryan and how their team’s offenses sputtered when too much of the responsibility fell to their 2nd year QBs. The Jets used a blueprint to make it to the AFC Championship game, and they’re all of a sudden going to change that? You’re right, I am smarter than to think the Jets are all of a sudden going to switch their offensive philosophy because of rumors that the Jets want a WR.
-
if leon goes we are going to need a kick returner.
-
you need a degree in labor law to figure this stuff out.
-
Brendan,
First let me start by saying….. you know nothing. We are just fans that have ZERO say or idea of what the FO wants/is going to do.
Anyway If last years “Blue print” was soo good why change it at all ? Why get LT who never plays in the playoffs is on a downward slope ? Why talk about trading for Marshall ? Why drop TJ ?
Just stating my opinion on Leon…..following the trends of Tanny. I like Leon and want him to stay but he is not that special…. neither is Keels.
-
John
I believe Leon would have lost his job to B Smith anyway of KO returns….Leon has not been the same KOR since the wedge rule was changed….Westoff even admitted it.
I still think Leon is a matchup nightmare and is a underratted RB
-
Hah, “you know nothing”.
Ok. The Jets being a running team is not debatable. The fact that they need 3 RB’s is not debatable. The fact that Rex wants to run the ball is not debatable. Flacco & Ryan’s struggles last year are well documented, and Flacco only rebounded when the Ravens went back to a three headed rushing attack.
I don’t need you to tell me I have no say in what this team does, I’m not delusional. But I also know that the team would be crazy to all of a sudden switch to a pass heavy or more pass-oriented attack. They have a blueprint that works and they’re not changing it, that’s the point.
-
Okay
so I hear opening game will be at the meadowlands on Monday night, 9/13. So are there hotels around the stadium or??? I know the areas nearby are sketchy, right? Any lodging advice? -
Thanks Bent. I saw that there are a couple of nice places right off the grounds there. Sheraton has decent prices too.
There are about a dozen of us Charger/Ladainian fans who are going to come to his first game as a jet and chant, “LT, LT, LT…” as he come out of the tunnel, just like we did here, so he can still feel the love.
We’re really gonna miss him. You got one treasure of a person.
Good luck!
