Bob Glauber notes on Twitter, that during the LT presser, Tanny was asked about Brandon Marshall and the team’s potential interest, stemming from a Mike Lombardi report over the weekend.
Tannenbaum won’t address speculation about interest in Brandon Marshall. Does say, “We’re excited about the receivers we have.”

In addition Marshall has been a topic of conversation on ESPN Chats
ESPN’s Jon Clayton
Q: Can you please let me know why the Jets aren’t doing everything they can to get Brandon Marshall? They have a low first-round pick and a glaring need for a playmaking WR, so it’s not exactly like they’d be giving up a top-10 talent to get him.Jon in New York
A: By deciding to keep Braylon Edwards at the one-year restricted tender, the Jets probably are not pushing hard for Marshall, but they will check it out. Before getting Edwards, they were heavily involved in efforts to get Marshall. They were able to get Edwards without giving up a first- or second-round pick, so they made the move. For this to work, they would have to hope Broncos coach Josh McDaniels would be interested in taking Edwards as part of the trade. The hold-up last year in Marshall talks was the Broncos’ desire for linebacker David Harris, but the Jets can’t afford to give up Harris. The Seahawks would be the Jets’ main competitor for Marshall. It might cost New York a first-round pick if the Broncos can’t get Harris or won’t take Edwards. And then another one to Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com:
… if the Jets get Marshall — and I think if they offered their first-round draft choice today it would be a done deal — I’d view them as the NFL’s biggest boom-or-bust team. There is potential for explosiveness in that scenario. At the same time, there is potential for the whole thing to blow up with so many egos and volatile personalities in the mix.
Thanks to Steiny (NYC) for sending this on.

please no it would be a disaster
-
There will be plenty of WRs that are somewhere between Clowney and Marshall that can fill the obvious need. However, rookie WRs frequently do not produce in their first season and even less often when the QB has as little experience as Sanchez.
-
no to marshal, yes to revis, no to porter, yes to mangold…. very easy to make these decisions no to gholston, yes to greene…. see?
-
James,
How is no to Porter easy? You prefer Bryan Thomas?
-
I would much rather keep Baylon(money reasons) but I honestly don’t get the whole “Brandon Marshall is a cancer” arguement .. T.O is a cancer.. All Marshall does is catch TDs I don’t wanna hear bout his off the field B.S because all ESPN does is sweep this BIG BEN stuff under the rug & noone cares but as soon as a story comes out about a ” non golden boy” the stories get force def down my throat ..
I could careless if we make this trade either way we are a great team & I trust Tanny with the money .. He’ll make it work if it happens..
I’d much rather get a 2nd rounder for leon ..
-

force fed -
Marvel, people say Marshall is a cancer because he has a laundry list of off-field issues. His current teammates don’t like him, and the bullets that killed Darrent Williams were INTENDED FOR MARSHALL. That recently came out. That’s incredibly sad that they his a bystander and Marshall baited the gang members that shot them. So yeah, do I think there’s more gang members in Denver or NYC? Keep him in the sticks.
-
Marvel-
Marshall is without a doubt one of the best WRs in the league when passing has never been more popular, he’s young and hasn’t reached his peak yet …. and the Broncos can’t wait to unload him. That doesn’t tell you anything about what kind of teamate he is?
-
Have a feeling were gonna get him
-
tanny has said this before only to pull something off the next day. a first round pick for a talent is worth it
-
If tanny didn’t want him he would of said we are not interested in marshall
-
Did Marshall pull the trigger ? No … Stallworth & J.R Smith killed people .. All is forgiven in a matter of months .. I don’t think what Marshall did was correct but I def don’t view him as a cancer . Ask Jay Cutler if he liked Marshall as a teamate .. Last time I checked WR is not like NBA Point Guard .. You just have to block & be on poin with you QB ..
I herd Marshall speak a couple times on TV sounds like a nice guy .. Since we all believe TV I believe Marshall ..
-
i could see trading braylon and a late round pick, but we absolutely should not deal our 1st rounder for this guy. we need that pick for the defense
-
I say give up leon and a 7th rounder for Marshall. Done deal.
-
Yeah rich I agree how many times have tanny said this and pull off the move within the next couple of moves
-

Brendan,
Atleast now maybe you realize that this scenario is atleast a possibility, since you (or anyone else for that matter) didnt seem to think so when I was floating the idea around a week or so ago.
What this all comes down to is, Marshall is better than Edwards. If the Jets were to make this trade, Edwards would either be a part of the deal, or he would be preparing for his final season with the Jets,
-
Well one thing is for sure, if he is a jet this is one guy cromartie won’t let baby sit his kid or kids when he is hunting for baby number 8!
-
stay away is all I can say.
-
The Broncos have painted themselves into a corner when they sat Marshall, lost to the Chiefs and went 8-8 … they unload Marshall to save face … if they don’t then Josh McDaniels is Marshall’s b****

The Broncos have painted themselves into a corner when they sat Marshall, lost to the Chiefs and went 8-8 … they unload Marshall to save face … if they don’t then Josh McDaniels is Marshall’s b**** … J-E-T-S should take their time and put in a stink bid
-
i dont understand you people…even with all the shiiiite that marshall put himself through the past few years…this guy does nothing but perform at a probowl level year in and year out…
i would make the trade in a heart beat…EDWARDS for MARSHALL is a no brainer…imagine how much more the offense will open up with him on the team…not to forget we just signed 1 of the best pass catching RB s ever in the league in LT…
now im not hating on EDWARDS…but no1 can question the difference in talent…like i said before…i liked EDWARDS coming out from college…and still do…but i also liked MARSHALL…who to me seems to be the better out of the 2…again i dont care what he did in the past…i only care about the NOW…im sure we have enough people on this team that can keep him from making mistakes…just my thoughts…
-
Being a run first team I don’t think Marshall would be a great fit. I don’t know…I just think while were running it most of the game he’s gonna be crying and demanding that the ball be thrown to him. Seems just like him to do that. But im definitely not the GM of a football team so…and if it happens, in T-Rex we trust.
-
This year I think Edwards is more valuable to the Jets then Marshall. For at least two reasons:
1. The Jets are a run-heavy team and Edwards is a superior blocker.
2. Sanchez is just a 2nd year QB and would need lengthier time to develop chemistry and timing with Marshall. We’d lose a lot of the benefit Marshall might bring this year.
Stick with Edwards.
-
The Jets do not have a tight window, therefore why would we roll the dice on another project at the expense of young drafted talent especially with Mr. T’s recent draft success. NO THANKS. Draft your next Revis Mr. T!
-
I’m not too sure if Marshall is even a better fit (talent wise) for this team. Marshall is a great player, don’t get me wrong, but he isn’t really much of a deep threat. He is basically an incredible possesion receiver. The biggest thing Braylon brought to this team was his ability to beat his man deep. Before we brought him in, our passing game lacked that vertical element. Yes, his drops make me want to rip my hair out, but I don’t think its anything that can’t be fixed. He also makes incredible catches (with his hands) which makes me think that his drops have more to do with his focus or its a mechanical issue. Braylon has an average of 15.1 compared to 11.1 for Marshall. Marshall would also cost us a ton of money (maybe twice as much as Edwards) and probably a high pick. Lets just stick with what we have. I think Braylon will be much better after attending the Jets training camp and working with the coaching stall. Like they say, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!!!
-
SI 2010 Mock Draft 4.0 have the Jets drafting Demaryius Thomas with their 1st rd pk, I could only hope so because this guy is T.O. “2.0″ sans the prima donna baggage, A bona fide #1 receiver! I wanted Javid Best or this Cat but with the signing of LT Demaryius Thomas has to be at the top of their draft board! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nDhGrYAx5g
-
Adam_Schefter After signing RB LaDainian Tomlinson, Jets reached agreement with free-agent FB Tony Richardson, a good move on and off the field.
GREAT MOVE!!!
-
I feel like my mother saying the same thing over and over again. B Marshall DOES NOT FIT with the Jets. No doubt he is an amazingly talented WR, but we just don’t gave the coin to bring this guy to NY for the long haul. Next year we have a bunch of key guys to resign in:
Revis – #1 priority to resign, the face of the franchise and the best defensive player in the NFL. We need to lock him up for multiple years, which will cost lots of money. Obviously it’s worth it and Tanny will get it done.
Mangold and Brick – Mangold is the best lineman in the league, and is also going to sign for big $, and is well worth it. Brick is a great LT, and it’s really hard to find elite LT’s. He is slowly becoming one of the best, and will probably want to get paid like one. Signing him and Mangold (and Revis) is a must for the way Rex coaches.
Then we get to the others we must sign:
Cro – If Cromartie returns to ’07 form, which i believe he will, he is going to be an essential part of our D and his play will let Rex do a lot of things with the front 7. If he performs we gotta bring him back.
Braylon – same situation as Cro, we are giving him a year to show what he’s got. If he performs well, which we all know he can (just 2 years ago he was an “elite” WR) we need to resign him. For Sanchez’s sake.
Leon – LW gets one more go around as a Jet, and if he can get over that injury and return to form, Tanny will resign him. I doubt it happens, but you never know.
There is no way we would be able to sign just those first four guys next year if we bring in Marshall. He is a stereotypical prima donna receiver, and if he plays good, which he will, he’s going to demand the biggest contract ever for a WR, no doubt in my mind. We just can’t afford to bring this guy in, it could compromise everything we do as a team.
-
I like Marshall as a player, but I also like Braylon as a player and I think their skill sets are similar. We do not have to pay anything for Edwards, but we’d have to pay for Marshall by traded Edwards AND a draft pick. I know Braylon has not been as consistent as Brandon, but between the 2, Braylon’s 16 TD 2007 season was better than any of Brandon’s 3 100-catch seasons and Braylon is a better deep threat. I think Jericho and Braylon are more complementary players because of Braylon’s deep threat capability. Heck, ever since I started to think that Jericho should play the slot in 3 WR sets, I’m not sure WR is a “need” position at all. With Keller, LT and, hopefully, Leon all good receivers, the Jets need depth, but I’m just don’t think swapping Braylon for Brandon would make the Jets that much better.
-
marvel
i agree 1000%…
marshall didn’t pull a triger and if he knew he was argueing with a murderer i pretty sure he would have kept his mouth shut and would have left the place with humility…
so people like brenden should really stop saying darrent williams died becuz of him…thats just foolish…how many times have people argued with some1 they didnt know…and no1 died…
-
WOO-HOO!!!!!
T Rich for another year!!!!!!!! Love that guy. Most under-rated player on our team.
-
Yesssss i’m sooo pumped we signed T-Rich. Tanny would have looked pretty dumb if he let hm walk.
-
Marshall is better then Edwards yes but I rather keep Edwards and get Jordan shipley as our slot…. Only way I take Marshall is if we keep Edwards… And I don’t see that happening
-
thank god T-RICH is coming back…LT will definitly be a great pickup now with T-RICH blocking for him…
-
Dylan,
LOL, my post is very similar to yours, except I compared their career yards per catch numbers. Braylon has a 15.5 yard average for his career, a 15.5 average with Cleveland and a 15.5 average with the Jets. Pretty good for a guy who has caught passes from, at least, 1/2 dozen QBs. With training camp and stability at the QB position, who knows what the ceiling is for Braylon.
-
I can just see it now. Rex asking T Rich in the locker room after an impressive week 1 MNF win to do the honors.
AND THE HOME….. OF THE…….JETS!
-
I’m glad to see T-Rich back, but the Jets have to start grooming a replacement for him. I’ll spare everyone another pitch for Gerhart!
-
Manny fresh
I too would like Shipley/Edwards/J CO but I also want R.Jones so that’s why I wanna trade Leon for the 2nd rounder..
-
I want a slot receiver in the draft. Shipley would be ideal in Round 2. Want a rookie to be groomed under Sanchez’s offense, not some hot shot veteran trying to persuade Sanchez to get him more touches and throw him off his game and learning curve.
-
SD99,
I totally agree. One of the most important things for a young QB is consistancy. I also think Braylon is happy with his situation for the first time in awhile. He obviously has talent on the field, but he also has been a good guy in the locker room. I think he will be a top 10 WR again. Cotch and Edwards also compliment eachother perfectly. Edwards is a great big play threat and Cotch is a great possession receiver. All we need is a good slot receiver and we are set. I think people forget that we were 30 minutes from the Super Bowl! We don’t need to rebuild this entire team. All we need are a few tweaks. I think getting Cromartie will be big. Now we just need a good pass rusher and maybe a slot receiver. The most thing for this team is Sanchez’s improvement. As long as he continues to develop, we should be very competitive every year.
-
T-Rich finally! I can breathe a sigh of relief. Now they need to lock up M. Douglas, and Leon.
-
We need a veteran QB to help Sanchez.
-
Not to mention we accomplished everything without our All-Pro DT and our most explosive player on offense. I think people overlook that fact too much.
-
In my previous comments (on the Mangold video) I didn’t say by any means that I wanted Marshall, I just think that Leon is gone and logically Marshall becomes the target of rumors. I think a major part of letting Leon go is to save money to sign Revis, Mangold, Harris and Dbrick, but isn’t this an uncapped year? This would be a perfect year to get those big signing bonuses out of the way for the next couple of years.
Also, I agree but I even recently saw a mock draft on NFL.com where they had the NYJ taking Dez Bryant. Funny thing is that Taylor Mays was ALSO on the board at the time, and brought about the question – if they go “showy” in Dez Bryant or Taylor Mays in round 1(obviously assuming their both there), who’d you rather have?
Here’s the mock draft btw –

Im not going to argue about the details of trading for Marshall…this is all I have to say on this
Something about Marshall scares the crap out of me. I think he would be a feast or famine guy, and if things got tough over here, he would cause such a stink that it could possibly ruin a team or season…
I know the guy is great and a freak but I dont trust him. It doesnt mean Im right or telling you guys that it would be a mistake…its just my gut feeling on the guy
-
to SackDance Jason Davis is the heir apparent to T-Rich, he’s already on the roster bro
-
Dylan,
Agreed, except I think Jericho could play the slot and Clowney could be a speed 3rd WR, like when Key and Chrebet were the starters and Dedric Ward would come in as the 3rd WR and Wayne would play the slot. But, I’m all for WR depth and, like must people on this blog, I think Shipley would be a great addition. But, I’d also be up for another speed guy because the deeper the safeties play, the more the middle of the field opens up for Keller and speed guys tend to have a shorter learning curve than possession guys. I just don’t think WR is a great “need.”
-
SoFlaJets,
Has Davis even gotten in a game, yet? I mean you may be right, but Caulcrick had a good college career and washed out, why is Davis any better?
-
i wouldnt understand this trade if braylon or cotchery was involved. why? braylon is a huge target, if he gets rid of his dropping probems he becomes one of the best wide receivers in the league, he doesnt have many off the field problems (Sure he punched some guy, most people usually dont follow up with law suits after they are punched… this guy happened to have power connections as he was part of lebrons entourage, and thus he had a case and also public sympathy… tell me if you live in cleveland would u rather support lebron, who is the city’s most realistic shot of success or braylon, who plays on an awful team). Sure Braylon has his share of drops but he still makes his share of spectacular catches, and unlike Marshall, Braylon is reliable in the most important games, as opposed to Marshall being benched for them. Braylon is more of a team player as well, and his size allows him to block efficiently, whereas ive rarely if ever seen Marshall throw a block in his life, let alone one that actually contributes to the play. Also Braylon relished the prospect of starting on a new team, he still views it as an experience to re-write his personality and career. That’s a certain gratitude that i cant say Marshall will have for his team mates, coaches, or team. Not only that but i feel like Braylon has already developed chemistry with the team. Why risk it so the Jets can get a player who has a better drops percentage? Would you rather have Braylon as an uncertainty of making spectacular plays or plays that could make your head shake or would you rather have Marshall who has more certain hands but will most likely not be on the field to use them? And quite frankly, Marshall is not as doubled as frequently as Braylon is… why? Because Marshall is a smaller target and therefore easier to guard.
Now if Cotchery was in the deal i wouldnt do it either. He’s one of the most reliable receivers in the game, he’s still pretty young, and he’s an excellent 2 receiver. You ask me the Jets are trying to build a diverse offense which they can attack any defense on in several points. Marshall and Cotchery are similarly sized and have a similar style of play. If the Jets were to trade a receiver it would be more likely that they traded Cotchery than Braylon just because of that fact. However, at the same time, they cant have that many high paid wide receivers at the same time that are so unreliable… one with his inconsistent play and hte other with his questionability of remaining tame enough to play an entire season w/ being benched or suspended. But WR’s like Braylon are few and far between, even if he is inconsistent, and i believe if the Jets were to trade him for Marshall they would greatly regret it.
Which leads me to believe that they are not looking to trade either Cotchery or Braylon in a deal for Marshall… nor a 1st round draft pick, i dont think they view Marshall being worth that. Which is why i believe most sources are refuting the idea that the Jets are in on Marshall. Chances are they are mildly interested at this point but are unwilling to part with Braylon, Jericho, or a 1st round draft pick. After all Anquan Boldin is a similar receiver to Marshall, production wise (when healthy), and he went for a 3rd. And with other teams being reluctant to part ways with their 1st rd picks or valuable players i think the Jets are just waiting it out until the Broncos become slightly more desperate to move Marshall. Think about it, this could be their last opportunity to move him for a decent value. Imagine he messes up next season off the field, gets arrested, or gets a full season suspension or gets benched for the season… his value would dramatically drop, so much so that he would probably be released and the broncos would be unable to get any sort of compensation for him whatsoever. Right now he’s not really in any trouble, and before that changes i think we’ll see him moved. If it is to the Jets i hope its not because they caved in and decided to give up Braylon, Jericho, their 1st, or a talented player back. Last season it was Harris and a 1st as the asking price, but the Jets held out… same concept… Marshall’s value will only continue to go down and hopefully Tannenbaum understands that.
Now is it possible that Marshall pulls his act togethor and is motivated after leaving Denver, something he’s wanted for 2 years now? Yes. Is it likely? Absolutely not. Expect more of the same from Marshall and that terrible attitude, and for that reason hope that if the Jets trade for him that they still have Braylon and Cotchery there to pick up the slack if Marshall is benched, released, or jailed.
-
SoFlaJets,
After looking up Davis, he looks like a straight blocking FB. That’s not what I’d like. I’d prefer an RB/FB combo that can run the ball or catch it and, generally, be a offensive threat that can block, too. A 5-11, 242 lb. bowling ball isn’t quite what I wanted, but given Davis has barely done anything in the NFL, it’s hard to say definitively what he can and cannot do.
-
sack
gerhart seems to be the best option for T-RICHs replacement…in that L.MCCLAIN mold…just my thoughts…
-
Didn’t read all the posts but has anyone thought of this part of the Marshall plan?
With arguably, plenty of talented guys to throw too does Sanchez need another guy that is going to want the damn ball??
I do realize that we would lose someone to make this move BUT Edwards will improve (he’s already pretty good btw), Cotchery has great hands, Keller continues to prove his worth, Leon can catch and yeah so can LT. Our boy mark is gonna have his hands full just trying to keep everyone happy with pass attempts. We don’t need a one man show (which Marshall really wants to be), we have a soon-to-be well tuned band of receivers.
And I’m sure the issue of $$$ has come up. Marshall will be the top-paid WR in the league wherever he goes. The Jets will soon have the top-paid CB, C, and LG pretty soon and one of the highest paid LB soon after that. Can they afford Marshall? -
And oh yeah…We are a Run First team!!
-
Why get this guy on a “Ground and Pound” team.
We have young guys and we need to give them time to be more productive (Keller).
-
sack
basically we want a john alstot…whatever his name was…can block run and catch…
-
Doesn’t much matter what I think because I don’t own season tickets, but I do love the New York Jets, and I’ve stated this once before already. I feel like stating it again: If David Harris or Jerricho Cotchery are involved in a trade for Brandon Marshall, I will seriously reconsider my jets fanhood. I will also be perturbed, though somewhat less so, if Leon is involved in a trade for Braylon (as mentioned by many above).
-
dakar
You mean Mike Alstott? LOL (Im not trying to correct you, just trying to make sense of the comparison)
-
eddie
yea…i just couldnt remember his freaking name…but if can get some1 like him that would be an excellant pickup…
-
gerhart seems to have that type of potential…at least i think so…
-
I have been secretly hoping (not anymore) that we pick gerhart up. This kid has potential to be a tough runner, with some speed, the body/ability to block, and can cath the ball. He’s a perfect replacement for T-Rich, and would be able to help out in short yardage situations.
-
GO AND GET HIM. 29TH IN THE FIRST = PRACTICE SQUAD! PRACTICE SQUAD OR 20 TDS YOU MAKE THE CHOICE !
-
getting this guy would be a dumb idea. we have a young qb on a run first team. he is just gonna want the ball and cause problems. he has of the feild problems and is a pre madona. why would we trade a first roud pick in one of the deepest drafts in recent history also why tear apart our defense ( cause thats what the brocs ae gonna want ) THIS GUY IS A HUGE PROBLEM i am not denying he is very talented. and joe c are you cazy saying a first rounder will be on the practice squad this is the deepest drafts in recent years
-
all you priests out there with the phony outrage need to pipedown because you would love marshall as soon as he made a sick catch or broke one for a long TD against flipper or the pats. dont even deny it.
and stop saying he got darrient williams killed. that is the most absurd thing i’ve ever read in here. thugs out looking for trouble murdered williams. they pulled guns because of a freaking argument! and that’s marshall’s fault? ridiculous.
anyway, a change of scenery can go a long way for someone. he’s still young and can learn from his mistakes. however, the only reason i dont want marshall is because we cant afford to extend him as well as revis, mangold, brick, harris, and leon. it would be sick though!
-
GLTDB
i agree marshall would be sick but denver is gonna want our first rounder and they are gonna tear apart our defense in order to get him. hes gonna want the biggest contract to a wr in league history and i think we should sing our young stars to big contracts and probably just sign revis and mangold until they are dead lol -
Joe C from CT, are you serious?? The 29th pick in the first round is going to be a practice squad player??? What are you talking about?? I don’t even know where to go with this one. I don’t know what is crazier, thinking that the 29th pick of the NFL draft is equal to a practice player or that the Sanchize throws 20 TD’s this season. Man you should try and read up on the Jets and some of the things other knowledgeable people on this site post before making insane comments like that.
-
@Joe C from CT, 20 TD’s from Sanchez to one receiver? Nice.
-
SackDance,
The guy youre describing is LeRon McClain. He would be a great fit to fill that role.
-
the more i think about this the more intrigues i get. having three dynamic recievers plus the best run o in the nfl and the best defense is a good place to start
-
Bigkatt our 6th pick was basically a practice squader so wut makes u think it could happen to our 29?
-
Couldnt*
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Ground and Pound Please.
-
I seen two mock drafts today. one with us getting Dez Bryant and the other one drafting Brandon Spikes. I would rather have a rookie then Marshall.
-
im surprised no one caught this.

cotchery and marshall are the same size? marshall is bigger than braylon is, who are you talking about? -
Is the title of this post a Brady Bunch reference? Please say yes.
-
Marshall’s talent is freakish and undeniable…he isnt some system guy, he flat out dominates…but the thought of relying on him to be a reliable winning player still scares the crap out of me
-
Marshall’s talent is freakish and undeniable…he isnt some system guy, he flat out dominates…but the thought of relying on him to be the kind of person and player you have to be to win a Super Bowl just scares the crap out of me
-
Max V.V – obviously dogg
-
jimmy,
whoa, my mistake. i thought marshall was more like 6’0 and 190. never realized he was taller and heavier than Braylon. wow the guys size is insane… if he just didnt have those problems or attitude the guy would the most touted player in the entire league. unfortunatley people tend to disregard that talent when looking at his character. frankly i dont blame them. marshall is an incredibly gifted player, if only he could realize it to become a better human being.
-
If Rex had Marshall he could keep him in line by threatening to sit on him.
Then they can make BE and Cromarte switch positions. That way they get an extra WR who can catch the ball, and put Edward Scissorhands on D where it’s less important to catch the ball.
-
Ahhhhhj… I love all the Gerhart talk….I am hoping a move up to the 3rd rd for the Jets to pick this kid up….he’s a BEAST and I love his game….someone is gonna get lucky and grab him. Could be a great FB and a solid backup/2nd) R B for the Jets….fingers crossed.
-
Thank you Eddie…he scares the crap out of me too. Brandon is an amazing talent to be sure, but I can see him getting destroyed by the NY media and all the “temptations” from a city that never sleeps (and I’m not talking about Florham Park!). Even with his stock at an alltime low (due to the Denver debacle), he will still cost us too much in picks, players, and salary. We’ve got enough WR on this team…especially when you consider the Jets are Ground and Pound.
Last point I want to make is, I want this to be Mark Sanchez’s team…I want him to become the undisputed leader. I think Braylon, LT, and other egos will be in check, but I see Brandon quickly becoming the NY Giant equivilent of Jeremy Shockey. Remember how Eli grabbed the reins after Shockey and Tiki left? That’s what I’m hoping to see Sanchez do this year. Brandon ,IMO, would undo all that.
-
The top teams in today’s NFL surround their QB with multiple weapons. In 2009, the top QBs (as ranked by passing yards per game) had these weapons:
1) Houston = Johnson, Walter, and Daniels
2) New Orleans = Colston, Henderson, Meacham, and Shockey
3) Pittsburgh = Holmes, Ward, Miller, and Wallace
4) Indy = Wayne, Clark, Garcon, and Collie
5) Dallas = Austin, Witten, Crayton, and Williams
6) Green Bay = Jennings, Driver, and Finley
7) New England = Moss & WelkerPutting Marhsall opposite Edwards would establish a young WR foundation for a young QB with enormous potential.
Rex and Tanny know this. If he can make a fair deal for Marshall, he will.
-
mike s.,
It’s most likely that Edwards would be included in the trade. Also, we’re not going to be a team with the top ranked QB. Even if we had a good veteran, we’d still have a run-oriented attack.
And for the record: Edwards, Cotchery, Keller & LT out of the backfield? That’s four solid weapons my friend.
-
maybe… but I’m not so sure that Edwards will get traded in a deal for Marshall. We will see.
-
Mike s. – None of those teams have remotely the Ground and Pound that the Jets have. They HAD to pass the rock!

I would much rather keep our first round pick and plan to move up in the draft to draft Taylor Mays or Berry.
I would also much rather keep Edwards than trade him for Marshall.Marhsall is too much of a head case to me and Edwards has shown signs of putting his life in order which is a good sign a Maturity.
Now I cant sit here and say I wouldnt want Marshall on the team, but Not for our 1st round pick or Edwards.
I would much rather trade our 2nd round pick and a couple of fill in players to get it done.Im sure Denver would accept a deal say…
Jets 4th round pick, and maybe Leon Washingtons Rights. This way Denver wouldnt have to trade us a 2nd round pick and would get a 4th round pick along With Leon Washington.
We would be able to draft another Runningback in the 2nd round and Draft Safety in the 1st.I would prefer moving Gholston to Defensive end this year

Brendan,
Not to mention if we bring back Leon Washington. He is a receiveing threat too

“Well one thing is for sure, if he is a jet this is one guy cromartie won’t let baby sit his kid or kids when he is hunting for baby number 8!”
He is actually his cousins guardian. His cousin from Philly lives with him in Denver, so he can avoid the gang life where he comes from. There was a segment on it on ESPN.
Sorry, the rest of your post had to be deleted. We do not allow curse words, personal attacks or name calling here. Thanks for the information though.

it would be a nice roll of the dice for one year – but there is simply no way we can afford to keep all our young players (mangold, brick, sanchez, revis, harris) around if you add a #1 WR salary into the mix.
