Disturbing…Faneca retiring ? 12 years is a long time. I don’t agree that Turner or Slauson is an easy transition. Visions of (nightmare) Adrien Clarke. Tannny & Rex need to make Alan feel at home for another season.
If we have a cap in 2011, Faneca will probably be a goner, consider the upgraded contracts of Revis, Mangold , Brick and possibly Edwards. With Alan I think you save 8 million

  2. avatar JetOrange says:

Hardy has had injury issues, hasn’t been able to stay on the field, his post season workouts have been dissappointing. This guy was a first round pick, the Jets may be able to pick this guy up in the fourth round, anything else screams REACH

  3. avatar Shamik says:

People are making a mountain out of a molehill regarding the coin flip thing. People should keep in mind that Woody did just lose his daughter very recently. I’m sure the man’s been on an emotional roller coaster, so lets cut the guy some slack. And if they really do hold this against Woody for the SB bid, well then they’re just being as petty as they say Woody is acting, except with even less reason.

  4. avatar Scouse Jet says:

I agree that id there’s a cap next season (11) then there’s a good chance that those $8m make Alan’s stay here very doubtful. That being the case, this draft we need to draft a top OL to learn form the man in his last year here.

  5. avatar Brendan says:

Cutting Faneca next year saves $7.1 mil. Cutting him in 2012 saves $8 mil. I also don’t agree with the “easy transition”. I’m sure Turner knows the plays and the position, but it wouldn’t be an easy transition for the rest of the team to adapt to him. And let’s be honest he’s not as good as Faneca.

  6. avatar david i says:

Faneca news is nonsense…they are not screwing with this line.

However, I can see them drafting a Guard/Tackle to be heir apparent.

  7. avatar Green Lantern says:

We Like Greg Hardy ? uh oh hes gonna be good.

  8. avatar johnsec.125 says:

regarding the coin flip fiasco, i’ve said it before, and i’ll say it forever, the jets NEVER should have decided to share a stadium with the giants again.

  9. avatar Pdubbs says:

Is Braylon Edwards mad ? I didn’t know there was an issue with him, other then dropping wide open TD’s.

We need to keep Faneca !! If you want to save money…. cut Gholston !!!

Gholston is slowly approaching Alan Houston/ Mo Vaughn status…..

  10. avatar spentmiles says:

What’s up with Braylon? I thought he wanted to be a Jet for a long time? Is he just considering taking his off season workout elsewhere, or is he unhappy with his current position?

  11. avatar PA Matt says:

Nathan Vasher was released, any interest?

  12. avatar Brendan says:

Gholston isn’t approaching anything near those bloated wastes-of-contracts. Gholston will make just over $3 million the next two years if he doesn’t play a lot. So either he isn’t good and doesn’t come close to killing cap or he plays well and gets a good payday.

The Braylon thing, like most “stories”, is a writer trying to make something out of nothing. The word “expectations” indicates the Jets are unsure? Tanny has been saying all off season that Braylon better be there and since Braylon wants a big deal, he’ll probably go.

  13. avatar dmazz says:

Braylon and a 2 for Marshall?

  14. avatar Brendan says:

Vasher used to be a very good player, I wouldn’t mind a look to see if he could handle being a nickelback.

  15. avatar Bent says:

Isn’t the offseason programme voluntary anyway? I understand Braylon didn’t used to show up, but Tannenbaum had said it is important and that it would be a positive thing if he’s there, but it’s not exactly akin to a holdout.

As for Faneca, I would be amazed if they’re entertaining trading him and replacing him with Turner or Slauson. Faneca finished the season strong, after a rough start, and was one of the keys to the offensive improvement at the end of the season.

Cutting him now won’t save a dime in 2011 if there’s a lockout anyway, so it makes more sense to wait. I expect the Jets to try and get him to restructure next year if there is a season.

  16. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

Greg Hardy is slow and injury riddled…

You guys all know I how much I sweat Rex but the one thing I dont like is his obsession with HUGE OLBs. Every guy has to be 6-5 275 to play OLB for him.

I watched the combine and Hardy could not take drops in coverage, his hips were like they were locked in place. The Jets might see the kid as 3-4 DE because he is 280 lbs, which in that case the 2nd rounder wouldnt be that bad.

I just think that the Jets should make this real easy…if Jerry Hughes is there…take the kid or move up to get Graham…all this team needs is speed off the edge, not Greg Hardy as the hier apparent at WILL

  17. avatar dhs says:

Mock Draft Aggragator please! These should be weekly at least. I’m jonesin’ here.

  18. avatar ramble914 says:

We need Faneca this year, but we should look for his replacement for 2011. I’m sure there will be a good FA lineman available to pick up if a draft prospect doesn’t work out.

  19. avatar GP says:

I’ll be honest. I’d do Braylon and a 2 for Marshall and a later round pick.

  20. avatar GP says:

but I do agree that this whole Braylon not reporting to camp thing is a bunch of trash. He knows he has to be there. He doesn’t have a whole lot of bargaining leverage. So yeah, I think it’s a writer just looking for words to put to paper.

  21. avatar JEFFDOLFINI says:

Faneca’s ticket out of town in after this upcoming season, we have him for one more run then it is time to move on.

  22. avatar Tos9987 says:

If braylon is getitng fusy we need to swap him for Marshall ASAP . At least we will have a headace that catches everything

  23. avatar Stinky says:

If the Cardinals sign Feely, then maybe the Jets could sign Rackers.

  24. avatar War Machine says:

Agreed Stinky. Was wondering why nobody on here said anything. You can qoute me IF THE JETS LOSE FEELY AND KEEP FOLK, THAT WILL BE WORST THEN LOSING TJ.

  25. avatar BubbyBrister/shovelpass says:

Arizona has a good track record with former jets kickers and punters.
