Our buddies at JetsKvetch.com are running a Census of Jetsfandom … please be sure to fill it out, or you won’t get your Jets flavored gubment cheese.

Is spelled “government”…not sure where gubment comes from. Is that a crack on southerners, or is that your form of “ebonics” and you are really just a racist. I am open to clarification, but I find that very offensive. Grow up for Gods sake! That racist sh#@ is so 1980s!

I think you meant “its” spelled.

  3. avatar Jon Presser says:

don’t know why “nyc suburbs” wasn’t a location choice. it’s not like westchester is “upstate”

Thanks a lot KC for the correction…that was an essential part of my post..so glad that is cleared up.

my wife is from tinytown, north carolina. once we were in her area and saw flyers reading: “what does an acre mean to you”? one answer was “my gummint ‘lotment of ‘bacca.” so you see hojo, southerners really aren’t devoid of irony. (the flyers were protesting the gentrification of asheville, a real hippie town that’s becoming boozhwah, hence driving way up the price of an acre of land.)

  12. avatar Max V.V. says:

I don’t know how many people are going to see this, but just so you know, the results have been posted!

    Greenie,
I am from the south, and my wife is from Asheville, so I understand what you mean. But we are not in the south, so I assumed it was a joke. I just think that is racist. Most of the racism I have dealt with in my life is “innocent mistakes” or “jokes” not meant to harm anyone…but it does. And I poersonally feel that what people find offensive is up to them. If a caucasion person makes a joke using ebonics and offends a black person, I don’t think it is up to the caucasion person to decide whether or not the black person should be offended or not. Same applies to sexual harassment and women. A lot of old behavior was completely sexist and offensive without meaning to be. Thank God we let the women be the judges of what is right and wrong. We can make thousands of jokes without using old minstrel type language. Asheville is getting out of control!
