With all their draft due diligence underway, the Jets have scheduled a visit with a potential first round cornerback, Florida State’s Patrick Robinson.
Florida State cornerback Patrick Robinson clocked a 4.38 in the 40-yard dash at the Seminoles’ Pro Day workout.
…
Robinson told National Football Post that he’s scheduled to visit the Browns as well as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tennessee Titans, New York Jets and the Green Bay Packers.
“I’m pretty satisfied with what I did at my workout,” Robinson said today. “The teams said I did a good job. I just have to be consistent with what I’m doing. I think it’s going pretty well. I’m trying to enjoy it.”
…
His official [Pro Day] times were 4.40 and 4.44 seconds.
He also had a 6.89 in the three-cone drill and a 4.29 short shuttle.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pounder ran a 4.46 in the 40-yard dash at the NFL scouting combine, also bench pressing 225 pounds 15 times and posted a 39-inch vertical leap and a 10-2 broad jump. He registered 47 tackles and 11 pass deflections last season and intercepted six passes back in 2007.
“I would love to go in the first round,” Robinson said. “It’s been a while since we had someone go in the first round, so I would love to be the next one.”
Based on looking at some scouting reports [CBS, NFLSoup, MyNFLDraft] Robinson sounds like he would be a good addition to the Jets as the team’s slot corner with upside. It doesn’t sound like he’s the best tackler, but he’s solid in man coverage, which is what counts most to Rex Ryan and can react well, which is good news for someone who would cover the slot.
Having three first round corners might be overkill, but it’s not the worst thing in the world, especially in the same division as Brady, and as we saw in January, same conference as Manning.
Here’s a video of one of Robinson’s best days in college against Maryland.

Hey if you have three corners with good coverage isn’t that the same as having a good pass rush?
-
Isn’t he projected to go well ahead of us? Not that thats ever stopped Tanny before, but I’m not a fan of moving up for a nickel corner
-
I remember watching this kid play. He reminded me of a younger Lito Sheppard. I dont know if thats good or bad.

Yeah maybe Rex’s plan is to just get as many good corner’s as possible. Not an awful idea. But 1 strong pass rusher would make such a big difference, it doesn’t make sense to me to spend a 1st round pick on a nickelback, it’d be kind of like drafting a 3rd WR. Do it, just not in the 1st round.

Just smoke and mirrors. To quote the penguin Chief from Madagascar “Just smile and wave boys, smile and wave.”

btw any1 see Tom Brady taking up boxing on PFT? LOL I BET HE’S FATTER THAN REX NOW!

As an FSU student, I’m not sure I would want Robinson. Seeing this guy live, I think he has talent, but gets beat a little too much. Then again, the entire Seminole defense was awful, but I still think there are better options than Robinson.

2nd round pick pick but will probably get taken earlier….has really good man to man skills and is a pretty aggressive CB…..I like the way he plays…..Might not be around when we pick in the 2nd and with Cro in the mix wouldnt take him in round 1

Ive seen him play before and yea he gets beat, but NO corner can cover as long as it took the FSU pass rush to get to QBs…when was the last time FSU had ZERO first round prospects at the DE or rush LB spot???
This kid could develop into a lock down man corner if he gets drafted on a good defense in the late first round

Guys,
Have you seen this kid TJ Ward from Oregon…..OMG this kid is sick!!!! Check out this hit he puts on the qb in this link from youtube!!
