As the Jets journey towards the draft in April, we here at TJB will be taking a look into prospects that could be on the Jets draft board. Today we will be taking a look at: Florida State product, Patrick Robinson

Projected Round: First or Second
Measurables: Stands at 5’11. Weighs in at 190 lbs.
Positives: Robinson has very fluid hips and can change direction at high speeds easily. He can get his hands on the ball often and can react quickly at the last second. Robinson maintains good body control and usually does not lose his feet when he turns to run. He make quick decisions and can cover a receiver pretty much anywhere on the field. He gives his full effort when it comes to chasing down the player and will rarely get beat because of his blazing speed. Robinson is a very aggressive tackler who isn’t afraid to lay the lumber.
Negatives: It is very difficult for Robinson to thrive in zone coverage and he is much better if he sticks with his man. He won’t always deliever at the line and can be easily fooled by fakes. Robinson likes to gamble from time to time and doesn’t time his jump for the ball well. Although he gets his hands on the ball, it won’t always result in an INT.
The Bottom Line: Robinson would certainly be a welcomed addition to the Jets secondary and would make a now dangerous duo a triple threat. He will need to get some work in with the coaches in order improve his game but he has all the tools to become a great corner.

I didn’t get much of a chance to watch this guy play, but based off those “highlights” he doesn’t seem that great. If he can be had in the 3rd round I’m all for it, but we shouldn’t be burning a 1st or 2nd on a player like him.

I’m with Bob on this one. Robinson could be a very good corner in this league in the future, but needs work before he contributes much to this year’s campaign. There are many good cb prospects this year and it is conceivable that Robinson falls into the 3rd round. If that happens, he becomes good value and worth moving up for.
I still think that Lowery is going to play a lot of safety, so a nickel back is still a need (whether draft or free agency). If Tanny doesn’t draft one, I can see him waiting until the June cut downs to pick up his last cb (nothing much on the market at the moment).

Rather have Kareem Jackson if they went CB in the 1st, better fit…

Don’t want him.

oh the kid that couldnt guard shipley in the national championship game with help overtop and an elite pass rush?!? no disrespect, but robinson played with poor coaching/game adjustments, no pass rush, and no consistent help at safety. name me another top rated corner that would have performed better with those constraints?
coach ryan and revis would help light the much needed fire under robinson. plus he would be with cromartie that he could learn alot from.

for the record, on most of the “big plays” given up by robinson were due to him being inconsistent in his footwork and falling down on the play. #15 and #22 were on most guys highlight films on touchdown plays.

pass please!! being a Florida State student I’ve watched Robinson a lot and I want the Jets to stay clear. He was part of an atrocious FSU secondary (ranked in the 100′s in the nation) that was actually pretty successful just a year back he also has a bad habit of giving up huge plays and he did it alot this year
