Link: Unique, to Say the Least

Chase Stuart of Pro-Football-Reference notes on Fifth Down that with the Jets adding Cromartie, the Jets have a situation that hasn’t occurred in twenty five years.

Barring injury or an unforeseen development, the Jets’ starting corners in 2010 will be Revis and Cromartie. That will give the Jets’ secondary two players – both of whom are 26 or younger – who have been selected as first-team All-Pros by The Associated Press. Only three other teams since the A.F.L./N.F.L. merger have boasted two such starters – 26 or younger – at the same position:

Stuart then talks about those three teams and the last times this happened. All in all, a pretty interesting read!

if cromartie plays up to everyones expectations our secondary is going to be ridiculous. im very anxious to see if we can get him playing like he did 2-3 years ago

Whatever, Gholston needs to change his physique. He needs to be more flexible. The dude can’t get by edge, or make that corner…….overpowering in the NFL is when you get lucky and the OT has bad technique or a mental lapse. They guy doesn’t have impressive pass-rushing techniques.

If Cromartie plays like he did in ’07, we resign MDoug, we get solid production out of our first round pick (Graham, Hughes, Odrick), and Pool is a solid FS this D could, emphasis on could, have a historic season. I think this is the year. And the next eight seasons too. Ha.

When is the next Hall of fame consideration for “THE JETS BLOG”?

  5. avatar Bent says:

We usually do it in June.

March and April are all about free agency and the draft.

This duo must be having an affect in the draft rooms in New England, Miami and Buffalo.

Maybe Belicheat is waiting for the price of Brandon Marshall to drop to a 2nd and 4th rounder so he can snare an heir apparent for Moss. Miami better pray that they can continue to get two kick returns per game out of Gin. Buffalo’s toast until they move to Toronto, have a new owner and some money to fix the team.

LEON WASHINGTON A NO-SHOW ON FIRST DAY OF OFF-SEASON WORK-OUTS…….ALSO LAUDRY

  9. avatar TJBfan says:

To add to what John said, looks like Braylon and Brad Smith signed their tenders!

  10. avatar Brendan says:

    John,

Leon is hurt so he wouldn’t have been there anyway (most likely) but Keels directing him is the concerning part of this.

  11. avatar john l says:

only players not to sign tenders are leon. clemmons, coleman…….i thought if you were hurt all season you had to be at least at rehab at the facility the whole offseason?

Revis and Cro are going to be special this year….. Baseball season?? Says who?

  13. avatar Dylan says:

The Patriots got 3 3rd round compensatory picks!!!

  14. avatar Le' Sean Roberts says:

I’m saying guys it has nothing to do with the secondary. They’re trying to make Cromartie look like Batman Caroll or Paman Jones, that’s ridiculous….Cromartie is proven, The secondary will be fine (getting rid of that Rhodes and the week 11 allegation). Its the damn pass rush…..Its embarrassing that Pace is the dominant pass rusher as the SAM (no disrespect to Pace). Pace is flexible, Ware, Allen and Merriman (both pushing 270). Woodley and Harrison are roughly 6’2” but they’re flexible. Even Dumervill. They’re not Hulked out……hell, the Hulk is flexible

  15. avatar Dylan says:

Phew… Schefter messed up! 3 in the 7th and 1 in the 6th. Thank god for that.

  16. avatar Bent says:

Dylan – I think they got a sixth and three 7ths.

  17. avatar Bent says:

John l – Digs and Hunter had unsigned tenders too.

However, you can attend without signing the tender so I guess that’s what they (and the three you named) did, since only Leon and Laury (which seems odd) were no-shows.

  18. avatar Bent says:

Let’s hope Florio runs with a story that they got three thirds now!

  19. avatar Bent says:

Per Cimini, Digs signed, but Hunter has yet to.

Can Cro cover TEs .. If he can ReX might come up with some packages that I’ve never seen before…. (I want another CB don’t trust Lowery in man coverage)

  21. avatar Daniel says:

Not sure if it’s been done, but what would you guys think about getting a guy like Major Wright in the mid-rounds of the draft?

  22. avatar Shamik says:

What the hell did they get compensated for? For not making the super bowl?

    Fellow Jets fans,

I’ve been creating different wallpapers for myself that I wanted to share with you guys! Most of the ones I’m making are designed with a space to put the season schedule once it is officially announced. I’ll be adding it in when the time comes, but you can add to it however you like if you want to do something different with it.

Please let me know what you guys think!
