by Weeks on April 1st, 2010 at 8:51 pm

The “Anchor” Nick Mangold was up to some tricks today and put a “mystery fluid” in the D-Line’s bottles.

  5. avatar Jets4Life says:

What the jets should on daft day

Rd 1: jerry Hughes olb, Calvin pace is solid but not an elite pass rusher jerryhughes could be just that

Rd 2: reshad jones S, this guy would be a pefect fit in the jets scheme, hard hitter with good hands

Rd 3:***jets trade leon wasington for a mid third rounder
Brandon lafell wr,good size at 6’3″ 212, great value here had an inconsistent qb wich hurt his stats but still caught 11 Tds last season would be a nice addition to the jets wr core

Rd 4 c.j Wilson de, 6’4″ 290, recorded 10 sacks just. 2 sesons ago but his production dropped to 5 sacks last year

Rd 5 myron lewis db, has the speed (4.42 40) to play any where in the secondary

Rd 6 zoltan mesko p, Rex ryan football is a game of field position and good punter will only help, mesko is the best punter in the draft by far

Rd 7 alex parsons og they could use more ol depth

And my man crush grows. Mangold is awesome. Btw did anyone see that literal giant? That’s Potty (Pitoitua). Say hello to our breakout 3-4 DE.

  9. avatar GulfbreezeJet91 says:

Say no to Hughes, too risky…

  10. avatar Marvel says:

Brendan – yea the more I look at the line up the more I think our D line is fine no help needed.. I think the guy we got from Miami is actually gonna play very well for us ..Hughes is starting to grow on me (just a little bit)

Jetsfan- that’s a damn good draft ..(I want Mays) but still ya draft is kinda perfect except you didn’t replace LW..

    brendan

i agree with you about pitoitua. he was great in the preseason this past year. i was actually really disappointed about his lack of playing time during the regular season. i think he was only dressed for a few games.

and yes hes a big boy at 6’8 310 lbs

  12. avatar sexy rexy says:

that was pretty funny stuff lol. “what is this?..”

  13. avatar EastSide says:

    Jets4Life and others,
If you guys want to check out a good value slot WR that can probably be gotten in the 4th or 5th round check out my boy Emmanuel Sanders!

Weeks did a great piece on him a few days back:

anyone wondering i put gaseline in those waterbottles hahaha

  15. avatar EastSide says:

    @Brendan and GLTDB,

Agree on Pitoitua. One of the biggest Samoan players I’ve ever seen and clearly Ryan has plans for him.
Amazing how successful our line has been with unheralded players such as DeVito and Pouha.

    Loves it!

  18. avatar Brendan says:

Pitoitua got some playing time throughout the year, but it was sporadic and had more to do with who else was dinged up. Watching him in the preseason and in limited regular season action I can say a few things about him.

He’s freakishly strong. There were times when he was one-on-one with a OL and would just grab the guy and ragdoll him. I have used the Frankenstein analogy before, not to say he’s stiff, but that he just takes hold of people and continues moving forward.

His long arms bat a lot of balls. He’s gotten his hands on more passes in limited time than anyone I can remember. Obviously, being 6’8″ helps, but he gets his hands into the throwing lanes and has good timing.

Because of his ability to push back on single blocking, this means he either requires a 2nd blocker (which is what you hope for from a 3-4 DL) and he can collapse the pocket (which he did pretty frequently when he was in there).

He’s still a work in progress. He still is learning proper technique, as I think it’s obvious he got through college simply by his size and strength. Once he learns to keep leverage, use his initial punch, keep separation, etc. he will be a force. There’s a chance that never happens, but he seems to be a guy the team is really looking forward to playing this year, so I would assume he’s putting in the work and improving.
