Prisco writes that the deal for Holmes was more about the Steelers decision to send a message to their team, especially Mr. Roethlisberger.
Don’t cross the Rooneys in Pittsburgh.
That’s the message sent loud and clear by the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday night when they traded receiver Santonio Holmes to the New York Jets for a fifth-round pick.
Holmes has had his share of troubles with the Steelers, the latest a club incident in which he is accused of throwing a glass at a woman’s face. He is also facing a four-game suspension by the league, according to a report by Pro Football Talk.
The Steelers hate that kind of behavior, which is why Holmes was probably traded. Let’s fact [sic] it. He’s their best receiver.
Give the Rooney family, which owns the Steelers, credit for sticking with their ideals that character matters.
But does it matter when the quarterback is the guy in trouble? We shall see.

Don’t cross the Rooneys…..Big Ben??? I know he’s the quarterback but don’t tell me that they hold values over winning.

“Don’t cross the Rooneys in Pittsburgh.”
Or, they might go and make their team worse!

gotta love ksk’s take on peter king… hysterical.
“In the meantime, the Steelers, I believe, are saying to Roethlisberger: You have two strikes on you…”
“On strike three, WE TRADE POLAMALU.”

Definite double standard where Roethlisberger is concerned.

The Steelers are incredibly stupid. How do you trade a stud receiver who won you a ring for a number 5 pick. I am so happy to be a jets fan. This is the year baby! The stadium is going to be bumping this year, holy sh** is this awesome. Top 5 receiving core, best rb’s in the game, 2nd year qb coming into his own, best o-line in the game, sexiest most awesome coach, best defense in the game..and o yeah, we still have the draft to add more depth. wewwwwwwwwwwwwww!

Dont cross the Rooney’s in Pittsburg? Really?
They just traded their best WR and former SB MVP for a spare jock strap and now he gets to play on a team that just played for the AFC Championship… not to mention a young QB with a great OL and dominating defense.
Yea…dont cross the Rooneys….lol
