I thought we still had Maques Douglas?

  2. avatar clint says:

    Marques**

  3. avatar Brendan says:

    Nope, he’s a FA.

  4. avatar JetsFan65 says:

If he signs with another team, it gives us another opening to sign another UFA like Brunell if we trade Clemens or Sharper if he’s still available. Not we really need to sign anybody besides maybe another kicker.

  5. avatar Jets4Life says:

Miami is shoping ted ginn jr

It would only cost a mid to late round pick and he is a great special teams player which mKes Leon even more expandable

  6. avatar juunit says:

If Leon were to go anywhere they would absolutely have to draft McCluster or someone similar, preferably McCluster. No real point in having multiple running backs who feature the same abilities.

  7. avatar clint says:

Unless we get rid of woodhead or clowney I don’t think we will get another wr.

  8. avatar Brabble says:

Do you guys think the Jets are going to act on an RFA?

  9. avatar Super T says:

If Leon proves he is healthy, I want him on the 2010 Jets! Especially with a hard hitting Shonn Greene (injury potential) and LT (ineffective) whose better days are behind him.

I would also hope we draft another RB in the middle rounds of the draft.

  10. avatar Marvel says:

Every running back in the league has ” injury potential” just stop it .. If LW goes who cares .. Let’s give the guy we signed from the UFL a chance .. Or not.. 3rd RB can be found at your local retail store ..

P.S .. I don’t care what happens this season Tanny is still my Favorite GM of all time ..

  11. avatar Marvel says:

    * or was that the CFL .. Can’t keep track of all of Tannys moves ..lol

  12. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

    Super T

While I agree that Leon should remain a Jet for this season, you cant possibly know that LT will be a huge geriatric road block in our running game…

As much as you hate the guy, he is coming to arguably the best run block O Line in game and in a scheme where he was at his best under Marty Schottenhiemer. Even if he only averages 3.7 ypc, its still a first down every 3 carries, which is his role here, to move the chains. No one is under the illusion that he is LT from 5-6 years ago. In fact in various publications, the Jets and Vikings were named as the teams most fit for LT now, good run blocking lines that can create a push for a veteran, smart, agile runner with great vision. He doesnt have to make 3 moves just to get to the LOS, he just has to hit the hole or make one cut, which he still can do

LT was my fantasy keeper, and I watched him play every game for 6 years. No other SD RB average more than 4 yards a carry behind that line this season, they were that bad…If LT has nothing, Ill be a man and tell you you are right but there is no way for you to know that as a fact right now

  13. avatar JEFFDOLFINI says:

We have to lock up Mangold, Harris, Cro and Braylon after this season. Holmes is gone and Revis and Dbrickshaw are going to have to wait.

  14. avatar JEFFDOLFINI says:

We need a bigger back as our third runningback, if Shonne goes down then we have no big back to ground and pound! If I was Tanny I would have kept Leon and Shonne and drafted our third runningback in the draft………….

  15. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

I dont get all the RB controversy…its among the easiest positions to fill if you have a great offensive line…its more about the 5 fat guys up front than the RB

TJ averaged less than 3 ypc in the playoffs and only broke 100 yds ONCE the last month of the year, and that was against the Bucs…

Im not saying there arent great RBs in the NFL who can change games, but the Jets have a nice stable of a young pounder in Greene, a crafty vet with good hands in LT2 and the scat back in Leon…and has Marvel has stated, some kid could come in and be a revelation…

We are a lot better off than most teams because our RBs can compliment one another, instead of one guy having to carry it 30 times a game for us to win

  16. avatar NamVetJet says:

“It’s more abou the 5 fat guys up front”-LMAO

  17. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

    NamVetJet

I forgot to add “the 5 fat guys up front who are the best teamates, most selfless, and heart and soul of any football team…”

I love me some O lineman

  18. avatar jets17 says:

Draft a RB!!!!! we will be sorry if we dont!

  19. avatar Jets4Life says:

    Rd 1 jared odrick de
    Rd 2 reshad jones s
    Rd 4 eric norwood olb
    Rd 6 zoltan mesko p
    Rd 7 alex parsons og

  20. avatar sunsetmusic says:

    Jets4life,

If our draft goes that way. I owe u a beer!

  21. avatar sunsetmusic says:

But…..I would mind the 4th….being Gerhart…..but ill take yours ;)

  22. avatar sunsetmusic says:

I mean I wouldn’t mind it being Gerhart

  23. avatar WW85 says:

My biggest fear is lack of LEADERSHIP. We now have 3 star criminal/headcases(Edwards, Cromartie, Holmes) & have dropped some terrific leaders(Jones, Feely, Douglas). We improved talent & dropped some LEADERSHIP. We lead the league in rushing & defense last year. I’m VERY concerned about team chemistry.

Anyone else concerned? The Steelers, Browns & Cards obv thought it was important…

  24. avatar david i says:

Dave Hyde from the Orlando Sentinel:

You are delusional. Next time you write a story, do some due diligence. Moss, Welker, Harrison, Seau, A. Thomas were not drafted by the Pats.

  25. avatar juunit says:

Concerned about losing Thomas Jones? That’s a joke right? As my dad said, he may have had 1400 some odd yards, with about 1200 some odd carries. Just run up the middle every time with Jones, didn’t work but they kept doing it. At least LT was extremely talented at one point. Jones was never good, his only marketable ability was his lack of fumbles. Greene showed lots of potential and LT is still there, even if he isn’t who he used to be. Add in Washington and you’ve got a very good backfield. I only say McCluster would be a good addition because he could also play in the slot, although that may not be as necessary now that we have Holmes. I still think he’d be a great insurance policy though. He is extremely talented. Even when he gets tackled he fights mid-air for that extra yard. Whatever team does draft him is going to be very happy.

  26. avatar WW85 says:

We led the league in rushing. Obviously, our line is most of the reason, but to say TJ isn’t “good” is a bit much. In any case, I was referring to leadership skills more than on the field skills. I’m just worried about 3 criminal/headcases in the lr now. Whatever you think of TJ, everyone recognized him as an off the field quality leader.

  27. avatar rusty sanchez says:

after holmes 4 game suspension and if braylon can hold on to the ball plus cotch we argubaly have the best receiving corp in the league so if shonn greene can stay healthy LT can do the same as last year or better and L.W. can get back to old form there should be no reason why every team we face next year isnt scared crap of our offense…BTW i forgot to mention keller and B. Smith

  28. avatar rusty sanchez says:

whoever is scared that mr t been getting low character players i think the fact alot of these guys are in their contract seasons , have a chance to be a part of something special ,and be under a microscope from the newyork media they will be on their best behavior

  29. avatar C Low says:

I keep on pinching myself with the talent we now have on offense. I know there are risks involved with Holmes and a possible soap opera between two high profile WR’s looking for the ball in their walk season but tell me the opposing defense will stack the box to stop the Jets run with Holmes and Esdwards on the edges?

Greene LT and Leon will get soooo many yards next year with the respect the secondary will have to give our WR core. If not its play action for a TD.

Damn, and just think that we had an inexperienced QB handing the ball off all last year and the opposition couldn’t even stop the rush. Now add a second year QB with 180 minutes of playoff experience and now one of the most talented core of WR’s after week 4 in the NFL.

  30. avatar Zartan says:

    Jets4Life,

We traded next years 5th pick for Holmes, So remember to add Howard easley at 5.

  31. avatar WW85 says:

Rusty, that’s a good point. I hope we never become the Vikings of a few years ago.

  32. avatar rusty sanchez says:

    ww85
if everything goes well and the supposed bad apples on this team grow up and act accordingly this team really has a chance to be great jus think about our offensive roster next year for a second its insane

  33. avatar War Machine says:

my only hope is that the Jets will sign a decent pass rusher in the draft. Screw Jayson Taylor but even if we sign him, passing up guys like Huges and Graham is too much.

  34. WW85

I share your concerns, but we are clearly in the minority.

  35. avatar rusty sanchez says:

i truly believe the new york media will humble these guys…you know what kind of negative press you get when you do something wrong in this city

  36. avatar sunsetmusic says:

Leadership is not an issue since they have Faneca, Magold, T Rich, REX even, JCO and Bart…..Also REVIS and Harris and Ellis are respected . L Tomlison will be a leader by week 2

This team can totally handle what these 3 bring, that’s the beauty of the team Tanny has put together and that’s why they have a chance to be special.

  37. avatar Jay from south Florida says:

Sign Darren sharper!!!!! Now with M. douglas gone

  38. avatar starz31 says:

Yeah I tend to agree. That we already have a lot of veteran leaders firmly in place on this team and entering a second year in this system, some more than others (scott, leonhard). These new guys are new to the team, city, and system. They will fall in line knowing they must be good soldiers primed for free agency. Bonus knowing they could be part of something special.

Im not worried about them fitting. I’m more worried about Sanchez making full use of all his weapons, consistently.

  39. avatar rusty sanchez says:

i think if somehow we can magically get either hughes kindle or graham in the 1st rd…reshed jones in the 2nd…and greg hardy in the 4th i think that will be an awesome draft

  40. avatar brightfuture says:

Is there any possible way Mike T can become the METS GM please!

  41. avatar starz31 says:

    brightfuture,

    I think about that everyday.

  42. avatar brightfuture says:

it can be like a fantasy team and he would still run it 10x better than omar ( i cringe at even the thought of omar)

  43. avatar tyrone says:

I DO NOT UNDERSTAND CARLIN HE SAYS HE DOES NOT LIKE THE TRADE IS THIS GUY DUM OR WHAT THIS IS A NO BRANER SO HE SMOKED A JOINT WHO CARES ON THE FIELD HES A BEAST AND COULD PLAY UNDER PREASURE FOR 41 YEARS WE HAD GOOD GUYS WHO STINK AND CHOKE IN BIG GAMES HIS BAGGAGE IS NOT THAT BAD MIKE RAY RICHARDSON FROM THE 80S WAS BAD HE PLAYED FOR THE NETS COCAINE LT WAS NO ALTERBOY NEITHER THE FKING NY MEDIA ALWAYS GOT TO MESS A GOOD THING UP ALL THE TIME .HET PITT SEND BAD GOY PLAXICO TO GIANTS THEY WON A SB KNOW THE SEND HOLMES TO THE JETS THAN PITT

  44. avatar tyrone says:

AS JASON WE SHOULD LET THAT BOAT SAIL HE IS DIE HARD DOLFHIN IM WORRIED HE MAY NOT PLAY HARD AGANST THE FINS AND EVEN KEEP US FROM A CHAMP. HES TAKING TO MUCH TIME

  45. avatar starz31 says:

    WHY ARE YOU YELLING

  46. avatar CRIMSON-SE7EN says:

Was on the Jets board on ESPN,and there was a link on Darren Sharper. A question was asked of what he thought of the Jets getting Santonio Holmes, Sharper said, The Jets are loading up,I think they are one “free safety” away from winning a Super Bowl.

Thought that was pretty cool,I would not put that much into it,but it is very possible he may decide to wait it out so the Jets can sign him.

  47. avatar nicko says:

3 bad apples on the whole team….and Cromartie was just sleeping with too many girls, didnt commit a crime…..and edwards just punched Lebron’s friend….i wish he woulda just punched Lebron………and Holmes, ill take my chances for a 5th rounder…….lets get a pass rusher and say goodnight AFC

  48. avatar dakar says:

man some of you guys act as if LT doesn’t know how to play football nomore…

what exactly is diminished skills mean…

does it mean– he lost his vision…he has to wait and think about hitting the hole…ohoh wait…he forgot how to make a cut…or how to make a defemder miss…no i got it…he’s a split slower then what he was 3 years ago…

with all those diminished skills…LT is still 100 times better then TJ…

SO STOP WITH THE NONSENSE…stop eating all the shhiite that these so called experts are feeding you…

and stop with all this character BS TO…and the we need leaders…these are football players and they know how to ball…sorry but im getting tired of all the BS bickering about character and leadership…to much is being made out of this nonsense…

i know you guys aren’t perfect…and dont like to be judged…so stop over reacting and stop with the judgement on these guys tanny picked up…

im sure when holmes is catching balls scoring TDs he’s not gonna be judged no more…same goes for CRO….when he picks off a few balls and prevents TDs…i can say i see guys saying i have to buy his jersey…and when LT is rippin it…the talk will be how dumb SD was for cutting him…anyway, these are my thoughts…

I think you are overreacting on an epic level…Feely was a kicker…kickers dont lead football teams…or at least never one Ive been on, coached or been around.

We have leaders on this team that have come into their own as players- Revis, Harris, Brick, Mangold, Calvin Pace
and even the poise of young Mark Sanchise, Im probably forgetting guys as well

We also still have T Rich, Big Katt Ellis, Faneca, D Wood, Bart Scott, JCo and Jimmy Leonhard as well as some others Ive probably forgot

Our biggest leader is our best one…Rex Ryan. That man oozes leadership qualities and has shown he has the ability to circle the wagons and have players buy whatever he is selling…

This team is not void of leaders and new ones have to and WILL emerge…if your team falls apart because a few aging players( who were not as productive as the younger ones) leave…then you dont have much of a team at all…

Im sorry but TJ never helped Darelle lock down Randy Moss, Darelle did

The time has come for guys like Revis, Mangold, Sanchez and Brick to lead this team for years to come

  50. avatar Eddie DiGio says:

    dakar

I agree 100%…im getting really tired of hearing about what we lost, how we need this and that…and not the great talent that we DO HAVE on this team…you want to talk about a leader…

NO ONE on this team, NOT ONE MAN is more qualified to be the leader than Darelle Revis, you can make all the speeches you can make, but if you cant walk the line, it means nothing…anyone can make a speech

Revis can BACK IT UP. He can talk it then make it happen on the field…if that is not a leader, I dont know what is

  51. avatar dakar says:

    eddie

i agree…and im gonna add…people are just over reacting when it comes to character and leadership… since roger goodel took over every1 has been on a judgement cursade…i guess these guys are supposed to become preists and live a life of celibacy…while they play pro-sports…give it a rest…just my thoughts…

  52. avatar dakar says:

    eddie

    lolol…at least i know im not alone…

  53. avatar Green Lantern says:

Sharper Wants To Be Here…Lets Oblige Him ! lol if thats how you spell it.

  54. avatar BigJets says:

We haven’t lost anything, for every player we let go we signed another to take his place (k, FS, Rb, CB) and added a GREAT WR without the draft. We are in good space rite now

I’m not worried about “character issues” whatsoever all those guys are in contract years with something to prove and id rather them prove it while wearing green and white

And can we please stop it with the “if shonne stays healthy” stuff…everybody has a risk of injury. This guy is a BEAST and is as durable as any RB out there, he’s going to run rite thru the league this year with our Oline and T Rich..and not to mention adding Holmes makes them respect our pass even more now, so I dare a defense to put “7 in the box”

  55. avatar AKA....Drew says:

I assume everyone knows but B Marshall was just traded to the Miami Dolphins!!

  56. avatar madbacker12 says:

BREAKING news brandon marshall has been traded to the dolphins for a 2nd round pick in this year draft and a 2nd round pick in 2011

  57. avatar Brendan says:

Well I guess now they have 1 receiver, instead of none.

  58. avatar rusty sanchez says:

that sucks about marshall thas the first time the fins had a good receiver on their roster in like 25 years

  59. avatar MEL31602 says:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft10/news/story?id=5085644

Yep heres the link madbacker12. Oh well we have Revis to stop him. I would have been more worried if the Pats got him because it would have been hard to deal with both Moss and Marshall on the same team.

  60. avatar AKA....Drew says:

I guess we woke up the trifecta running the Dolphins!! AFC East is going to be nasty this year!!!!!

  61. avatar C Low says:

I heard they were shopping Ginn.

  62. avatar tyrone says:

they could not be any worse chemistry then the 1971 72 73 oakland As they all were arguing and they hated there boss they won 3 ws dallas cowboys norten deion etc championship teams always got issues but god talent with issues is better then boy scouts who cant score a td when needed you need attitude int this league.

  63. avatar tyrone says:

football players are violent people the jod is to tackle and beat another team by physical force you think when these guys leave the field they take a pill a mellow out some of these guys smoke weed cause of that is like ny cops back in the 60s 70s etc they will beat you for no reason then drown themsevlves in alcohol . do i say its right no i dont indulge but it happens its called stress the league needs to work with these guys .the more money you get the more they get into trouble rookies get to much money sometimes if i wold have been given 5 million when i was 23/24 i would have lived in the clubs and smoked weed and talked [trash] etc not everybody in football comes from middle class america some of these guys come from the hood and never seen the kind of money theyare getting to play sports
