While talking to the Sun-Sentinel about Jason Taylor’s status, Taylor’s agent Gary Wichard explained that the whole Jason Taylor vs. Jets Fans has been a misunderstood relationship all along …
You see … it’s been nothing but a big ol’ fashioned MANCRUSH!!!
As for Jets fans, with whom Taylor has maintained an adversarial relationship, Wichard said that wasn’t an issue.
“He loves playing up in New Jersey there and loves the fans because they’re so passionate,” Wichard said. “He gets a kick out of it. He’s kind of said things to incite Fireman Ed and some of the Jet fans. What he digs is the passion. He always liked that. He always wanted to play in front of people like that.”
You know what? Don’t. Not now, not ever.
A few things to point out about this terribly formulated peace gesture to Jets fans:
- Taylor incited Jets fans because he just loves to see our passion so much. Nice try. Come again when you can be honest and say that you were envious.
- Taylor’s implying that Dolphins fans are weak minded pink-hatted buffoons (my words). Please tell me something I don’t already know.
- Taylor’s always bitched about how Jets fans take over his home stadium, so he already should know what it’s like to play in front of such a crowd. Taylor should stay in Miami then he enjoys playing in front of our fans so much.
65 Responses to Jason Taylor via Agent to Jets Fans “I Love You, Man”

Unlike alot of my fellow Jet fans …I dont care what this clown can bring to our team ( which also unlike some fans I think would be very little) the guy and his agent are using the Jets to get the Dolphins to offer them anything…. His production does not warrant the BS and prima dona attitude he brings.
He made this personal not us fans ….He has never showed any class to the team that continually kicked his ass for most of his career….where guys like Zach Thomas at least kept their mouth shut during those beatings.
I would pull the offer and force him to go back to Miami instead of wait for this guy to beg Miami to offer him anything and turn us down.
-
And somehow, now I’m even more opposed to signing this guy.
-
As I look out over a crystal blue sea (or is that mar) and pure white sand, I can clearly see this is pure spin doctor bunk! Almost enough to ruin my vacation day. Almost — another cervaza, por favor!
Ugh. I (dis)respected him so much more as an adversary. This is just sad — he’s willing to prostitute himself for a few extra pesos (which is sad, because the conversion rate is so bad). I love hating him, and having to possibly root for him is just plain loco!
-
I was OK with signing him when the original rumors came out. But Tanny is a quick-striking GM. When there’s smoke there’s always fire and it’s generally immediate. This game that Taylor is playing basically shut the door on the minimal patience I had to sign him. He should literally be paying his own flight up to NY, hosting the team officials for a dinner and puckering up to smooch some Jet Fan tail. But he’s not. He’s “apologizing” through his agent. He’s taking his time. What decision is there to make? The whole game he’s playing makes me agree with Drew in that he’s using the Jets to leverage another year out of the Phins. I think the Phins are going to resign him simply because the fans are up in arms about letting him go. While I still feel the need for a veteran OLB is real, and even though I’m becoming mroe and more doubtful that Adalius Thomas gets released, enough with Taylor.
-
Hey R,
Another cerveza already? I like your style.
-
Draft a rookie OLB the fans can grow to love!
I would hate to see Jason Taylor in Green & White, even if he recorded 10 sacks!
That’s solid production, which really shows you how much I (and many other fans) dislike the guy…
-
Mr. T, please do not cave to this arrogant jerk, he clearly wants your money but wants no part of taking part in the offseason program and therefore no part of being part of this TEAM.
Scu him, he needs us more than we need him, enough already, if you cave to him it will be another poor message sent to the rest of the locker room and be yet another potential starting point for trouble.
-
Jason Taylor you sir are a douche. Your beloved team doesn’t want you so what now? Go out with some dignity you dancing fool.
-
@AKA….Drew, I agree 100%. I hope this all falls apart and he doesn’t come here. And btw…I guarantee if he does not end up on the Jets, he’ll go back to his original “I hate all Jets fans” stance. Him pretending he has love for us is all smoke and mirrors.
-
I agree with everyone’s sentiments. Aside from rooting for the Jets I’m also a big Mets fan and would absolutely cringe at the idea of Omar Minaya signing Chipper Jones or Jimmy Rollins. This is the same type of scenario. This guy is the enemy, what happened to rivalries meaning something? Tanny is building one hell of a team for us fans to follow in 2010, and signing Taylor will tarnish the new-found excitement and buzz surrounding them right now. (Probably not in the eyes of the national media, but certainly among green & white supporters).
-
I want anyone who scores on the phins to pretend to do a little dance in the endzone to mock this dancing queen.
-
it always boggled my mind how a professional football team could have orange and aqua as their team colors. orange and aqua? and the funny thing is about half of dolphin fans around the country became fans because they liked their uniforms. what a pathetic fan base. jason, go back to your toothpaste tube colored team where you belong. tanny, shoot this dog.
-
I think this pretty much seals it, though. He can’t return to Miami after saying through his mouthpiece that he likes Jets fans and that Fins fans are passionless p*ssies.
-
God Jason Taylor is SUCH a herb
-
I agree with all ya..What message due you send into this Jet locker room if ya sign a player who truly hated your team, fans, and made a mockery of it all. Then Jason has the nerve to say where and when he is willing to practice???Come on…I know we need some veteran talent but atleast get a guy with some class and character…I’m sick of the Me Me Me attitude that has become so common amongst this league that coaches, players, and fans are actually willing to except it…Jason dance your ass back to Miami cause even if some how, some way the Jets do sign you..We will all still hate you under our breaths as we route for our team this year…
-
Before I thought he may be able to come in as a situational player and get along. I was willing to look past his past for the better of the team.
Now though, I hope he crawls off to play in New England, making beating them for the AFC East title this season all the sweeter.
-
I got the hay, string and gasoline ready. Effigy first home game. Done.
-
I don’t have any problem with a player showing that he is backing his team 100%. I like the passion! I want players to HATE any team, city, and fans of that team – - – and show it. If we sign Taylor, I would expect him to bring that same loyalty in support of our team.
He has an edge to him, and it is obvious that the Jets are finally trying to build a team with attitude. Hopefully we get him, then go after Mount Cody in the draft. -
Jason and his agent can kiss my pitootie.
-
Between Braylon, Mr. Classy Pouting on the Sidelines Ladanian, Cromartie, and now Smokey McPot, the last thing this team needs is some egomaniac pretty boy who will have no problem throwing his teammates under the bus to the press after bad losses in a weak effort to save his own @ss. This locker room is going to have enough head cases last year. They do not need this clown.
-
You would think that Taylor kicked your dogs or something. Get over it, he’s too good to pass up. You can’t rely on rookie LB’s, ever.
-
The Jets have put together a formidable team. They already have the best running game and D in the NFL, and now, their WR corp is stacked.
Why should Jason Taylor get to benefit? I think it would taint whatever this year’s results may be. We’ve all hated, pitied, and ridiculed Taylor for the past whatever seasons. Now, he thinks a few carefully scripted words will change all of that? Nonsense.
Plus, the fact that Taylor still hasn’t made his decision is annoying. If he wanted to play for the Jets so badly, how come he hasn’t already signed? Be happy with the Holmes signing and move on Tanny.
-
I still think this is a terrible move. I doubt he will have 7 sacks again this season maybe 4 at the most.
-
@Tom B – 7 sacks last year, 3.5 the year before that is too good to pass up? Really?
-
I don’t want him. He is too much a Dolphin.
I hate the Miami Dolphins!
As I always say: if we go 14-2 in a season, and the 2 losses are to Miami, its a losing season! If we go 2-14 and the 2 wins are against Miami, its a winning season!
I want to play Miami in the season opener on MNF and beat them 49-0! And I hope J. Taylor is on their team when we do it!!!
-
Sadly, 4 sacks would probably be four more than Vernon Gholston will ever have :( . Damn you Mangini!!!
-
Zenlaw,
I forgot to mention what you said. If he had made a reasonably timed decision, I might have been able to tolerate it, but being that he is keeping us hanging…Screw him!
-
He will be 36 when the season starts. If he “is too good to pass up” why is Miami doing just that?
-
For just over $1 million, its not that bad of a deal. We get a veteran pass-rusher who will only be asked to pass-rush. Probably get more for our money from him this season then spending that money on an unknown. That said, I still want to draft defense 1rst round.
-
I hope the Dolphins don’t sign him and he comes back to the Jets and Tanny says, sorry d-bag…offer no good anymore!
-
Hu hu hubull ish excuse me guys I’m allergic to story tellers we love u to jt now sign the contract and end the drama
-
The people are taking this way too seriously!!
Where are u going to find a seasoned pass rusher & probably a HOF for 1.5 mil a year?
So the coach of the team I passionately root for likes a heated rival to join our team. What am I supposed to do?
You move on!!!!!
I will support it & worry about the things I can control!
So, please all this hate for one player makes no sense!!
Can’t wait for the 1st episode of Hard Knocks!!!!!!!!
Peace,
Until April 22nd.
-
Even if I put aside the fact that I completely despise this guy and the fact that he’s an egotistical fool, I also don’t want him here because he is not going to produce. Quite frankly, I think BT will do more than him. Was anybody watching Bryan Thomas in the playoffs, he was a beast. The point is, I really don’t want this guy on my team. He just comes across as fake and he’s using us. Go back to Miami so D’BRICK can pancake your old ass.
-
stay in miami
-
Come to New York, play for the Jets, win a Super Bowl, be pelted weekly with boos and swears. Sound alright to you, Jason? It sure works for me.
-
I wrote this on another post, but it fits here:
I hope he stays with the fins, he doesn’t deserve to win with us.
-
Nafstejyn – I didn’t realize that football was an individual sport. Thank you for enlightening me.
-
Exactly NYC Parking. He doesn’t deserve to win with the Jets.
-
… and who does deserve to win with the Jets? Cromartie? Holmes? Stop your crying.
-
Tom B
When are you going to understand he dosent want to play here? He is using the Jets to get some type of leverage against Miami.
He wants to play in Miami and will only come to us as a last ditch effort to continue his career. This is not about crying or having a personal thing against Taylor. His production does not warrent his nonsense attitude and prima dona approach towards our team and franchise.
When he gets any offer from Miami (if they even want him) he will turn our offer down. I would rather pull the offer and let him go elsewhere.
-
Tom B. – who exactly is crying? Taylor is not that good a player anymore, has been an a-hole his whole professional life to jets fans and doesn’t deserve to win as a jet. He deserves to get his a$$ kicked by the jets which will certainly happen if he stays on the fins.
Those other guys you mentioned never were antagonistic to Jets fans, and they can still play, so yes they deserve to win with us.
The only crying I remember is taylor crying on the field after the monday night miracle.
-
How do you judge the production of a linebacker by his individual stats? Football is a team sport, and the Dolphins defense has struggled for at least 2 years. Take him out of a system where he was the centerpiece of the defense, and put him in a situation where he is 1 of 11 excellent defenders and guess what happens, he produces more! Amazing, I know.
You can believe he doesn’t want to play here, just like you can believe in the Easter bunny if you feel like it. That doesn’t make it true.
Every defensive player in the league wants to play for the Jets. This is about a man trying to get paid, not using us… and if we pay him we will not be disappointed.
-
Every defensive player wants to play for the Jets? Then why is Jason Taylor and his agent begging the Dolphins to offer him a deal when he knows they are not willing to match the 2 year deal the Jets offered?
If he wanted to play here he would have signed the contract offered to him. LT wanted to play here… he turned down an offer of more money from the Vikings.
Jason Taylor has zero options other than our contract or “hoping” his beloved Dolphins throw him a bone.
As to the Easter Bunny I believe that Jason Taylor is just as soft as the rabbit that hides the decorated eggs. Maybe one day you’ll see that also
-
So he’s giving the team that he played for for the last… 13 seasons(aside from 1 in DC) a chance to bring him back at a discount for what will likely be his swan song is… the wrong thing to do? OK, you’re nuts.
-
So I am nuts that I dont want a overrated 36 yr old prima dona that hates our franchise to have to be dragged to our team becasue nobody else wants him and he dosent want to retire?
The Dolphins told him they werent going to offer him a deal (multiple reports claim this) now that he visited the Jets and the fanbase in Miami is furious the Dolphins will meet with him? Its a ploy to get the Dolphins to offer him anything. His agent is playing this correctly.
You can keep hoping that Jason Taylor comes here and I will keep being nuts knowing he wont and never wanted to.
-
To be honest I have been ignoring my feelings on this matter because its going to be a reality sooner rather than later. So we all better get past this and move forward as a team. Jason Taylor will be a Jet and there in nothing any of us can do about it. Now you all say you are going to rain down boo’s on our defense because you don’t like one person our roster. That’s wrong! We need someone who can get to the QB. We have one person to blame for this and his name is Vernon Gholston aka “The Bust”. Take it out on him! I have a feeling when Taylor has 8 sacks in 5 games all the negativity will go away. Cannot wait for this season!!!!!
-
Like I said 1000 times before I will root for the jersey not the player. if he somehow decides to come here I will bring myself to cheer when he makes a play…if he ever does
-
@Tom B, doesn’t seem to me like anyone on here is crying bro, just voicing opinions/concerns. Taylor is 36, his production is way down, and he has a horrible attitude towards the Jets and their fans that spans that entire 13 year career you mentioned.
Bottom line is, if he signs here, I’m sure most of us Jets fans will warm up to him. I’d just rather not have to put my theory to the test.
-
C-Mart-
Bryan Thomas was a beast in the playoffs? We were watching two different playoffs then. Sorry but Bryan Thomas needs to be replaced. Look up his numbers they are not good.
-
Getting Taylor is like the Mets getting Tom Glavine. It was obvious that Glavine just wanted the money. He didn’t bleed Mets blue and orange. You could tell from his indeifferent attitude on the mound. Football is a brutal sport. After every game your body feels like you’ve been through a car crash. Taylor will be 36, so those aches and pains linger, and if he really were motivated to play with the Jets and stick it to the Phins, he would’ve signed already and made nice to the fans. Instead, he’s hesitating and that sounds like Glavine all over. Will he fight injury and play with a non-stop motor as a Jet? Or, will he play indifferently, with no fire and passion? Contrast Favre as a Jet as opposed to a Viking. Once Favre had the fire and passion fueled by his desire to stick it to the Pack, he was able to muster a classic Favre season. On the Jets, he looked too much like he was going through the motions.
Fans here make it sound like Taylor was a selfish player for the Phins. At least against the Jets, Taylor played with passion and was a team leader. I just don’t think he can transfer that passion to the Jets, his hated enemy. Plus, it’s unlikely that at 36 he will be good as he was at 35…and he hasn’t been the Jason Taylor of old for some time. I don’t want Taylor. He’s a Phin and always will be a Phin and I hate the Phins.
The only silver lining that I could see is maybe Taylor will wear 56 as a Jet. After getting LT and having a 56 named “Taylor,” Giants fans would go nuts.
-
Screw this prima dona..I say take jerry hughes and let this kid become our very own menace for 7 yrs or so. I can’t stand this woman… Any way has anyone seen brodney pools potential. This guy has some serious upside
-

Put his numbers next to kerry and he out performs kerry in every category but tackles and pool only played 11 games. Mind you kerry was w the best defense in the league and pool was on a bad defense -
I will boo jason taylor until the day I die whether he’s in green and white or not. This outright lie that he and/or his agent concocted is yet another insult to the intelligence of Jets fans. We don’t like you, you don’t like us.. Let’s keep that way.
-
SD99
As usual…..very welll stated
-
i kinda agree with this article. Its reall Reggie Milller-esq. I should know because Reggie Miller was my favorite player. Reggie Miller hated the Knicks but deep down in side he loved them. He loved playing in Madison Square G. He loved Spike Lee and all the stars that came to the game. Indiana had no stars and he wished it was a big stage like NYC. Think about it…
-
The Fact that Taylor is saying these comments makes it seem like he is trying to win over the fans and almost certain he is leaning torwards signing with the Jets.It could also mean that jason taylor is holding out until after the draft and waiting to see the the Dolphins will make him an offer.I say just sign him and get this issue done and over with.Lets move on to bringing back Leon Washington and the NFL Draft.
-
You also have to wonder, why would Jason Taylor sign with us if he would prefer to stay in Miami for maybe a little more than we can offer.I just have a feeling this could be Jason Taylor messing with us again and wanting all the Jet fans excited about getting this guy, only to stick it to us AGAIN and sign back with Miami.
-
What he fails to realize is that most of us will be glad if ends up taking up a fins roster spot.
-
That was addressing Randy’s last comment
-
haha…u guys are funny…we all knew that if he signed with the jets that he would have to appologise or make an excuse for what he said about us……this is exactly what’s happening….he put it out there with his agent first and then he can back up the story in his first interview when he signs with the jets…..if he wasn’t coming to the jets do you think he would say anything “nice” about us at this stage in his decision??……i expect him to sign here tomorrow or thursday…..i hate the baldy too but how nice would it be to see him completly filp flop about the jets and wear our jersey with pride…haha…i think it’s funny and I don’t know why you are all upset
-
SackDance, Drew,
Thank you for saying all I wanted to say, better than I would’ve said it. -
I hope we don’t sign the bass turd.
-
I really feel this would be a good pickup. We definitely lacked a pass rush last year unless we sent everybody. I watched a few of the Fins games last year and Taylor can still get to the quarterback and still plays the pass pretty well even making and interception or two. I know he has said some things about JETS fans and the JETS in general in the past that weren’t to nice. A lot of those comments were out of frustation because we owned the Dolphins for many years and he was on those teams that couldn’t beat us. It’s how we feel about Brady! So I say give the guy a chance. If he starts causing havoc for opposing quarterbacks we will forget very quickly some comments he made in the past. Anything that gets us a superbowl ring is worth taking a chance on.
-
How different all of you will feel if he comes in has a great year gets 10 sacks and helps us win a super bowl. You all say now that you won’t feel that way but you will. We gave Taylor hell and he dished it back. Big deal. Players don’t stay with one team any more in the NFL. You all hated bill parcells until he came. You all hated Brian cox until he came. You all hated Curtis Martin until he came. I understand your mad becuz he said some things but we as fans gave him he’ll first. That’s how fans should be to the road teams and the road teams should all feel the way Taylor did. It means he has heart and cares about the team he’s with and cares about himself. First of all this is Rex ryans defense. He knows what will make this D even better then what it was last year. We as fans should respect what Rex wants and support his decisions. Bottom line is Jason Taylor is talented and if he wasn’t then we wouldn’t have given him he’ll all these years and he wouldn’t have dished it back. If he was some bum we wouldn’t even mention his name and he wouldn’t get on tv. Ok so he said some things but what would you do if everyone was yelling at you and saying things about you and your family. Would you sit there and say nothing???? I doubt it and if you did nothing then that means yours little wuss. I say let’s trust Rex Ryan. If he wants Taylor then let’s respect that decision. It can only better an already great defense.

Hey Jason, Let’s cut the BS and get down to business….
What colors are you going to wear this year? Green and White, or Orange and Aqua? huh?
Let’s ****, or get off the pot please..
