Why does this sound so familiar?
While the Jets now have a much better receiving corps (games 5-16) than they did just two days ago, they also now have two WRs on their team who have had some nefarious rogue Twitter hack their accounts only to send messages to fans telling them in some form or fashion to kill themselves.
Last time this happened for the Jets, it was David Clowney (here, here) who had his account “hacked.” This time, it was Holmes, and how surprising that he never said anything about that until joining the Jets – who’ve had some previous experience with the defense.
The newest WR, Santonio Holmes talked to the press yesterday about his incidents on Twitter, and invoked the ever popular defense of most six year old boys.
Holmes expressed his frustration on Twitter after the alleged incident when fans lashed out at him. “U as fans would never learn!” Holmes wrote on his Twitter account. “Remember u don’t cut my check.”
Then, Holmes, who has nearly 13,000 followers on Twitter, allegedly took it a step further when one fan painted him as the villain in that incident by writing that the fan “shud try finding the worst thing that you could drink n kill urself.”
Holmes denied responsibility on Monday, implying that his verified account was somehow hacked.
“It wasn’t me,” Holmes said. “I never tried to defend myself on that topic among anyone on Twitter or among anyone that tried to ask me for interviews. I would definitely be accountable for my actions if I did say it.”
Despite the implication that his account was hacked, Holmes maintained that he’ll continue to be active on Twitter to engage with fans.
I get that sometimes people say things they regret, I do it all the time.
I get that Twitter accounts can be hacked.
But the fact that he’s telling the press during other parts of yesterday’s conference call he’s accountable for his actions (though he doesn’t question anything about himself ever, mind you) yet then runs out the “my account was hacked” excuse? I don’t get it. Yet somehow, Kerry Rhodes, who has almost 30x as many followers on Twitter, or Mark Sanchez who has almost 10x has never had their accounts hacked?
Why would Holmes say such a thing?
Because it already worked for the Jets.
Lightning struck once before for the Jets PR team … fans should buy this one a second time, right?

i dont care if he told someone to kill himself…. Is that going to prevent him from running and catching at 100% ?
NOPE -
Maybe, and I’m jsut spitballin’ here, he was hacked because he’s a big story? The hacker knew that the account would be receiving maximum traffic and knew that Holmes was coming off personal issues. I don’t think he’d be dumb enough to say something like that before he even sets foot on Jets ground.

I honestly could care less about what these guys do in there personal live
In the words of the once great Al Davis
“Just win baby”

Couldn’t care less? Could care less implies that you could indeed, care less about this, meaning you care. Sorry, pet peeve of mine and I see it allllll the time.

A little off topic but Kellen Clemens just signed his tender although he recently said he didn’t want to play for the Jets. Anyone think a possible trade is in the works? I wouldn’t be surprised if they dropped him for a 4th, 5th, or even a bag of footballs at this point. Brunell is dead set on signing with the Jets anyway.

Furthermore, why in the world do we carry 4 quarterbacks? Can we please only carry a max of 3 this year and use the roster spot for someone on the defense or possibly so we can keep a fan favorite like Woodhead around?

I love this idea that Clemens is going to get something of value in a trade. From who? He is an atrocious QB.

The truth is, if you access a twitter account via a bluettooth device, it’s easy for someone to snag your password and gain access to your account. I’m not saying it happened in this case, but that’s a fact.
If you’re a sports celeb in particular, there might be some tech savvy fans of a rival organization that might want to make you look bad.
Sounds far fetched, but it really isn’t.
-
Maybe Clowney hacked into it.
-
Brendan — you say he wouldn’t be dumb enough to do something like that, but for so many of these guys we just don’t even have the ability to grasp their thought processes. They don’t think at all like we do… the fact is he probably IS dumb enough to say something like that.
-
The only thing I want to suggest is that maybe he misinterpreted the concept of hacking a Twitter account with a member of his entourage accessing his twitter account and responding for him?
Sure, maybe it’s a far-fetched defense but I would’ve preferred to hear it explained that way instead of another “I was in the Matrix” defense. People might be more understanding if he said some of his more immature friends who were in his house thought it’d be funny to snatch his phone/laptop and respond on Twitter.
Worth a shot.

you guys act like if a person makes it to the pros they’re supposed to become super human and make no mistakes…life is based on making mistakes…it defines who we are and how we react to them…
if you guys have a problem with how celeberties act then you should have or make a blog on how rap music video’s has corrupted the minds of our youth…because all i see are alot of kids out there who will do anything to get that money and buy that benz…you know, like them 50 cent clones…
look in the mirror before you open up…ask yourselves…am i being a hyporcrite…are we asking these celeberties to be something there not…and then when they act as they really do we call them out and even call them hyporcrites…give it a rest…
1 question…
how many of you want rex off the team because he gave a fan the middle finger…
i already know the answer to the question…so let me give you guys the i thought so…just my thoughts…

very interesting….but if he follows Braylon’s footsteps and we win a championship I couldn’t care less about this. We all know hat we’re getting into with this guy, he just has to change. I believe he will and we have one of the best WR corps in the league right now.
