Film Room: We Have ALL These Guys?

by Bassett on April 30th, 2010 at 9:59 am

It just occurred to me that it’s worth reflecting and considering just who the Jets top four receivers are for the 2010 season …

NOTE: Some of the highlight videos have questionable lyrics (esp. Edwards video) and would be NSFW.

Possession receiver Jerricho Cotchery (2009: 57 Rec 821 Yards 3 TD)

Deeper threat Braylon Edwards (2009: 45 Rec 680 Yards 4 TD)

Speedster / slot receiver Santonio Holmes (2009: 79 Rec 1,248 Yards 5 TD)

Tight End Dustin Keller (2009: 45 Rec 522 Yards 2TD)

We also have the league’s best running game and defense. Due to our league-best O-line and pass defense.

Which we have added Jason Taylor and Kris Jenkins to. Oh yeah, and that Cromartie guy.

  2. avatar NJets says:

    Yes… yes we do

    I just drooled on myself

  3. avatar zenlaw says:

Waaah! What about team chemistry because Faneca is gone?? How could we replace the very average Feeley with the equally average Folk? How could we replace the diminishingly skilled T. Jones with the diminishingly skilled (but hall of fame lock) LT2?

See how ridiculous the above sounds? The Jets are stacked this year. See Jameson’s comment above.

  4. avatar Manny fresh says:

Lmao I was reading an articAl that I’m not even going to post because it’s not wroth it… Saying that the pats got the best 1,2,3 punch with moss holt and welker

wow really? Welker= hurt, HOLT= old, MOSS= will quit playing by week 5

    Moss locked down by revis.
    Holt locked down by cro
a hurt welker locked down by a speedy Wilson

    wooooooooo Can You Dig That?
    SUCKAAAAA!!!!!

  5. avatar brian311 says:

    this gives me a hard-on

  6. avatar SoFlaJets says:

what sucks though is that we don’t have that 4th weapon in Holmes for a quarter of the season-I’m a little concerned there. Andruae Allison? David Clowney?

  7. avatar bono-zoffa says:

…and only if we had a QB to get them the (damn) ball (if I do say so myself).

we go as far as the sanchize takes us. in marky socal we trust.

  8. avatar Sexy Rexy says:

man Santonio is so good. IMO he’s better than Welker

  9. avatar dakar says:

and i’ll say it again…or ask it again…

why does every1 still think we aren’t gonna pass the ball more then we did last year…

with our defense getting the ball back to us with 3 and outs and/or turnovers our offense will have alot more opportunities to throw the ball…we are gonna run it just as much as we did last year…but with more opportunities we’ll also pass it more this year…giving our recievers more opportunities to make plays that are running game will open up for them to make…i’ve been saying this since we picked up holmes…but yet there are those who refuse to see what we can do…

i see us having a high powered offense…but if the coaches should feel that they have to bore us to death because they feel we dont have the capability to be a high scoring offense…then i would be the 1st to say we need new coaches…because we are built to be a high powered offense…and i dont want to read… sanchez is in his 2nd year nonsense…so were brady and rothlisberger when they wont their 1st SBs…just my thoughts…

  10. avatar AKA Jack says:

    But, but, but……..chemistry!!!!

  11. avatar Green Goblin says:

Jets have one of the best 1,2,3 punches in the NFL but I have to give a slight edge to the Patriots…Welker is hurt but Holmes is gonna miss the first quarter of the season…At this point, Moss is better than Edwards..Welker is better than Holmes…And Holt is better than Cotchery…They’re all real close though (especially at this stage in their careers) but I give a slight edge to the Patriots…

  12. avatar dakar says:

won their 1st SB s with less talent…

  13. avatar Green Goblin says:

Although, I’d rather have the Jets WR group going into the future because overall they’re way younger and at this point have WAY more upside…Tanny should try to keep all three long term….

  14. avatar dakar says:

    green

the paties dont have 3 capable corners to shut down our 3 guys…but we do have a platoon of DBs that can shut them out…edge…goes to the jets…easy…

  15. avatar JerryB says:

Holt is better than Cotchery?? Maybe 4 years ago. Moss is in rapid decline and Welker, whos game is quickness, is coming off a major knee injury.

  16. avatar Green Lantern says:

Holt Better Than Cotchery? What non football knowing person said that?

  17. avatar andrew sidney says:

Holt is better than Cotchery? You have to have something mentally wrong with you. Cotch is SO underrated and even by jets fan. This guy is one of the best possession receivers in all of THE NFL, not to mention a great locker room personality. Torry Holt? maybe back in 2001. WOW.

  18. avatar Sexy Rexy says:

SMH at someone saying Holt is better than Cotchery. Honestly was Holt even better than Cotchery in his prime? He did play in that Mike D Antoni offense for awhile in St. Louis with Kurt Warner throwing him the ball. Cotchery is VERY underrated.

  19. avatar reality jet fan says:

We have no idea if we have the best running game. It LT and still an unproven SG and A ROOKIE COMON TAKE IT EZ.

  20. avatar JetsFan65 says:

    JerryB im with you!!!

Holt is better than Cotchery??????????????? Yea rite

Moss is better than Edwards but Edwards has more upside could be alot better this year and going forward, Moss isn’t what he used to be, and Edwards doesn’t have to face Revis when we play each other. Moss is a non-factor when playing the Jets.

Santonio is better than Welker buddy, Welker does so good because he has Moss on his team which free’s him up. Santonio was the #1 wr in pit and still had great #’s.

Pats don’t have our great running game for other teams to worry about which will help out our wr’s to play much better.

And we have the best 1-2-3-4 punch because don’t forget we have Keller who is a play making machine. He will not have big numbers because of all the weapons we have but he will make the big plays when they count. He has the tools to be the best TE in football.

  21. avatar AKA Jack says:

I wouldn’t count on seeing Welker, the old Welker anyway, for at least the first half of next season. You don’t tear your ACl and MCL and come back to top form in 9 months.

In any case, Welker is a slot receiver and that’s likely the role Cotch will be playing next season. I’ll take Cotch in that role over Welker. I’ll take Holmes over an aging Holt and I think Edwards is going to have a big year this season. As has been noted above, the Jets get to play against the Pats secondary and the Pats have to play against Revis, Cromartie, Wilson and Leonhard with Jenkins, Ellis, Pace, Taylor, Harris and Scott breathing down Brady’s neck.

    I like our chances.

  22. avatar OutsideCenter says:

The music in the keller video made me uncomfortable

  23. avatar RevCroWilson says:

Cotchery is better than Holt at this point in his career lets be serious now. As for Welker being better than Holmes are you on crack? Holmes is ten times more explosive and Welker is more a product of the offense e.g. Deion Branch and the like. Did you take a look at Holmes’s numbers last year with Roethlisberger and the Pitt offense not Brady a legitimate one in Randy Moss beside you and no running game at all like NE.

  24. avatar JetsFan65 says:

    Reality Jet Fan-

Greene is a beast and much better than TJ. Did you see the game last year? The only way Greene won’t live up to expectations is if he gets injured which i sure as hell hope he doesn’t.

LT2 will be better with our team than last year and McKnight hopefully should be good #3 back from the film i’ve seen on him.

Might not be the best running game because we should have great passing this year but definitely top 10.

  25. avatar dakar says:

    JetsFan65

i say we have a top 10 offense or better this year…the only thing i worry about is shotty calling dumb plays…but if he calls games like he did in the playoffs…then like i said…top 10 or better on offense…im actually expecting high powered offense…

  26. avatar originalJetFan says:

you forgot LT as a receiver out of the backfield, too thats a huge weapon we didn’t have last year with TJ and Shonn.

    passing down–

Cotchery and Edwards at wideout– both double coverage
Holmes in the slot –single on nickel back
keller at TE– one on one with a linebacker
TJ as safety valve — one on one with a lB

Unless they single cover edwards and jericho theres only a 4 man rush covered by 5 linemen.

having single coverage on any one of the 3 wides/slot and LB ‘s on keller is a formula for success.

  27. avatar Derrick G says:

chemistry is all i have to say

  28. avatar reality jet fan says:

I think SG looks brilliant but i belive a guy is unproven with only a few starts no matter how impressive.. And i didnt like the LT i think he is done. But i would take cotchery over holt now.

  29. avatar GP says:

    Santonio is quite good

  30. avatar dakar says:

LT will prove every1 wrong…except for those such as myself who dont think he’s done…i think he’s gonna do alot better for us then TJ would have if he was still on the team…LT…better speed, movement and hands… just my thoughts…

  31. avatar Revis Pangea says:

I’m digging the Keller video with the background song from Donkey Kong Country 2 for SNES.

  32. avatar Rob Y says:

Obviously there are no guarantees with the real Jets next year, but the off season moves do guarantee a lot of fun with the Madden Jets.

  33. avatar patpat says:

    JetsFan,

Im with reality jet fan here. I think SG can be great, and I think he proved that in the playoffs. But we still do not know if he can pull it off for 16 games. He was getting hurt too often. His fragility scares me. I’ll feel more confident if hes not hurt by the halfway mark of the season.

  34. avatar Sexy Rexy says:

I agree with what is said about LT catching out of the backfield. One of the few reasons I co-sign signing him. Gonna give Sanchez a lot more comfort room than Jones did.

  35. avatar reality jet fan says:

And for all you holmes guys . He was escorted off a plane today for disrupting a flight. Boy we got a real winner here. I still like the trade

  36. avatar Crackback says:

Our running game coupled with Keller, Braylon and Holmes is match-up hell for any team.

  37. avatar BKWRXWgn says:

If SG can keep up with his run hard charge like he did last year, I think LT2 and McKnight will get a decent if not a good amount of yards per carry. This is only if SG can stay healthy which is the biggest concern IMO, let’s just hope SG is conditioning himself a lot more during the off season to hopefully minimize his fragility.

With that said the JETS run game can potentially be what the Giants had during their Super Bowl season where the opposing team’s D got worn down enough for a speed back to have break out runs during the 4th qtr.

  38. avatar tomg says:

Another thing that worries me about SG is he showed fumbleitis last year.

  39. avatar rusty sanchez says:

    no video for hartsock??

  40. avatar dakar says:

    BKWRXWgn

SGs durability has always been my concern since his rookie minicamp…he had 3 injuries before the season started…i still think if he didn’t get hurt in the AFC game we would have won that game…but for some reason i feel he will come in and play the whole year without injuries…at least i hope so…

  41. avatar reality jet fan says:

Alot has been putm on rex plate.I hope he is ready for it.

  42. avatar mike says:

Santonio holmes was pulled off a plane for being a disruptive passenger in pittsburgh according to WPIX. This is not good.

  43. avatar juunit says:

PLEASE! Moss is YEARS ahead of Edwards Scissorhands. Edwards is an absolutely terrible receiver. His job is to catch the football, but he can’t catch. He alone makes the receiving core that much weaker. I can’t wait until he is gone and Holmes replaces him. All Edwards has is his speed, which Holmes has too on top of having sure hands. And Keller is another one. His hands SUCK. He’s supposed to be able to catch everything near him and he can’t catch the ones that hit him in his face. We have Cotchery and Holmes effectively. We don’t have Holmes in the beginning. We either need to put some of our RBs in receiving spots or we’re gonna be throwing screens all day every day.

  44. avatar Harvlis says:

The only thing that can stop us from crushing other teams, with our offense, is Schottenheimer. The experience that our young players received, in the playoffs, will help to take us to another level. Remember, we were beating the Colts, at half-time of the Championship game. Confidence is so important. We are coming into this season healthy, hungry, experienced, and confident. I can’t wait for Monday night against the Ravens.

Schottenheimer has to make sure that Ainge and O’Connell are ready to step right in, should anything happen to Sanchez. Clemens was not ready, last season. No excuses, this season. I am sure that they will get a great deal of playing time, in the pre-season but, when we have a big lead in the regular season, they need to get time with the starters, as well. Cut Clemens now, give him a chance to catch on elsewhere, and groom Ainge and O’Connell.

  45. avatar dakar says:

    Harvlis

    agreed…

  46. avatar JetsFan65 says:

    PatPat-
I already stated that the only thing that would hold Greene back would be an injury. We just have to hope that he doesn’t get seriously hurt.

    Juunit-
I understand your frustrations with Edwards because i myself even wanted him gone when last year ended and wanted to bring in Marshall for him. But it didn’t work out that way and we were able to bring in Santonio without giving up Edwards. I like Edwards as a #2 and Santonio as a #1 and Cotchery as a #3. Now we can afford his drops because we can make up for it and he makes plays!!!! Cant take away what he brings, big target and homerun threat.

    Also Juunit,
What is your problem with Keller? You exagerate about his amount of drops. He is a beast, did you not just see his highlights? He is really good!!! Stop Hating Please. You could slide with Edwards but not Keller.

  47. avatar BurbankJetsFan says:

    reality jets fan-

I think Rex will look for a metaphoric full plate to munch on now that he’s not eating as much and shedding pounds. This is his team to mold into a FORCE!

  48. avatar joethejet says:

there is no more excuses for Schitty this year,he has an arsenal of weapons, and if we dont win at least 11 games during the regular season, then he has definately got to go,i dont even wanna hear it anymore.Callahan i hope you are ready to take over next season cuz i dont have much faith in Schitty

  49. avatar miketaliaferro says:

    Aaaaaaahhhhhh… YUMMMM!

  50. avatar BurbankJetsFan says:

Hey Joe, remember last season when there were quite a few of us not only you that were coming down hard on Schotty (I include myself yes)? Not that I want to bring up any issues about his play calling cause of where he was able to get us with Sanchez, but damn I was so mad at the run-run-pass-punt plays that we felt were so predictable. My feeling is he will be able to spread it out. We come out running then drop some bombs…

  51. avatar James in NY says:

no pressure, sanchez. some of our problems last year had to do with receivers getting open, especially in the red zone, but 6 needs to step it up BIG TIME this year

  52. avatar Joe T says:

anyone check out the great music from keller video! Circa Donkey Kong Country 2!

  53. avatar Harvlis says:

    Burbank,

The Jets were headed to the golf course, until Rex stepped in and told Schotty to pull back the reins on Sanchez. Then, we ran the ball into the playoffs. I still believe we will be able to run the ball down most teams throats but, with our receiving corp, we should be unstoppable. I agree with JoetheJet — there are no more excuses for Schottenheimer.

  54. avatar BurbankJetsFan says:

Right. No excuses for Schott. I think he has to be feeling the pressure now. He could possibly have picked up another job (maybe Bills) but he wanted to come back. I have no worries about Rex taking on the entire team to build “character” but Schotty is running the sh-O-w…Also he has to continue helping Sanchise grow. All these playmakers. I love this entire thread in particular cause I keep seeing our roster and boy does it make me melt.

this is the best WR corp weve had in a very long time sooo added too what we were last year im very exicted….that santonio thing today is no big deal…..

BTW what number is santonio wearing???….jw cause of the rookies numbers coming out

  58. avatar Bent says:

Holmes 10 (Ainge changed to 3)
Tomlinson 21 (Lowery changed to 26)
    Pool 22
    Taylor TBD

  59. avatar Xtina says:

Kella….mmm mmmm mmm loves me some Kella

  60. avatar Xtina says:

Holmes — damn, Big Ben is gonna miss that guy

  61. avatar Xtina says:

Edwards — damn, that guy is GOOD! Let’s see more balls thrown his way this year.

  62. avatar Xtina says:

Cotch – most underrated receiver, inf not player, in the NFL.

  63. avatar Green Goblin says:

How can you Jets homers rip on me about saying that Holt is better than Cotchery but you say that Holmes is better than Welker?! Last year Welker had 123 catches for 1,348 yards (in just 14 games) while Holmes had 79 catches for 1,248 yards!!!!!! Don’t tell me about Moss (especially those who go on to say Edwards is better) when Holmes had Hines Ward!!! Holmes wasn’t the Steelers number 1 receiver it was Ward!!! Do you guys just watch Jets games because how could you think Holmes is Pittsburgh’s number one receiver?! You probably heard he was Superbowl MVP and figured he was..Do your homework or watch non-Jets games…Both of them had great QB’s throwing to them last year, but in 2008 Welker had Matt Cassel throwing to him and still had 111 catches for 1,165 yards while Holmes only had a measly 55 catches for 821 yards (in 15 games)!!!!! Only a dolt (or a Jets homer) would say that Holmes is better than Welker!!! It’s embarrassing to Jets fan for Jets homers to run around spewing this nonsense..And you guys who rip on me for saying that Holt is slightly better than Cotchery at this point in their careers probably never saw Holt play..Cotchery was the Jets number one receiver last season and he had 57 catches for 821 yards while Holt(who wasn’t the number one receiver on Jacksonville) had 51 catches for 722 yards. So those are similar numbers..Cotchery had a rookie throwing to him but Holt had Garrard throwing to him!!! Also, the Jets offense was overall better than Jacksonvilles joke of an offense..In 2008, their stats were also comparable but from 2007 and every season proir it would be an embarrassment to compare their stats!!!! I can’t believe someone actually said that Holt was never (even in his prime)better than Cotchery!!! That has to be one of the dumbest, most ignorant comments ever posted on this board by a Jets homer!!! Cotchery is a good, underrated player but Holt (just a few years ago) was one of the best receivers in the NFL..After TO, Moss, and Harrison (and maybe Isaac Bruce, who along with Holt are probably the greatest WR duo in NFL history), Holt is the best WR of this past generation and has a legitimate shot at being inducted into the HOF when all is said and done!!!! Look up Holt’s stats if you don’t believe me and if you’re not a stat guy than go watch video of him….You homers say Holt is old but just two seasons ago (2007) he had a season that’s better than Cotchery’s best season ever!!! Some of you even said that Holt had a great situation and that’s why he was so good in his prime..Yeah sure, he had Marc Bulger throwing to him during most of his best seasons..You act like he had Big Ben throwing to him (you know, like Holmes had)..You also credit Martz’s offense for Holt’s greatness but he was gone from 2005..Besides, that’s a lame excuse you can make for any successful NFL player..Like saying Jerry Rice was only good because he had Montana and Young throwing to him and offensive guru Bill Walsh (with his West Coast offense)as a head coach (followed by Seifert)…Face it, you Jets homers are a disgrace!!! I guarantee that if a poll was taken by NFL coaches and players that at least 80% would choose Welker over Holmes and that at least 99.9% would choose Holt in his prime over Cotchery in his prime!!!!

  64. avatar Bent says:

Holmes is a different kind of receiver to Welker, who is unquestionably one of the best possession receivers in the league (or was before he got hurt, at least). Holmes was thrown to 127 times for those 1,248 yards and is getting better each year, Welker had 1,348 yards, but was thrown to 153 times. Holmes was actually more productive in terms of yards per play, which speaks to the fact that he catches passes downfield and makes big plays. I don’t think the comment was all that outlandish.

It kinda sucks that Jets fans are not even able to be optimistic about their own players on a Jets blog without being called homers, dolts or ignorant.

  65. avatar Green Goblin says:

Bent, I respect your opinion more than any other on this board but you must agree that Welker is a better WR than Holmes…At least up to this point (obviously when Welker is healthy)…Come on, it’s not even that close…Every NFL team would select a healthy Welker over Holmes (even if he straightened out his personal life)….

  66. avatar Bent says:

Welker, since he’s been in the Pats system, has – like I said – been one of the best possession receivers in the league. He is better than Holmes, absolutely, but as the stats I quoted show, Holmes is more versatile and can be as dangerous. Hopefully he can put his issues behind him and continue to improve, because if he does, he’ll be up there with Welker and the other top wideouts in the league.

  67. avatar Green Goblin says:

    Bent, I agree.

  68. avatar AKA Jack says:

    Bent-

I don’t. As you mentioned, Holmes and Welker play a different role in different offenses. Welker is a good receiver but he is also a product of a system that is extremely favorable to him. Over half the yards Welker gained were YAC. If you take them away you see that his average reception was a 5 yard catch. Obviously, YAC is important but my point is he doesn’t run downfield routes, he is a classic slot receiver in an offense that targets that positon and spreads the rest of the field. Don’t believe it? Take a look at Julian Edelman’s numbers. They are very comparable albeit with many fewer attempts. And Edelman is a converted QB playing slot for the first time. Put Holmes in that program and he would have far better numbers than Welker.

Holmes is a much greater downfield threat. His average catch subtracting YAC is almost double Welker’s. He can play slot, Welker’s role, or he can stretch the field with excellent speed. Welker can’t. Holmes plays against corners, many of Welker’s catches come against linebackers.

Different players with different skills playing a different position. I’d take Holmes on field talent over Welker’s even if he is a bong smokin’, ipod playing goofball.

  69. avatar mike s. says:

If the front office can find a way to keep this group together, it will be explosive once the kid QB grows up. But that might be a 2011 story, not a 2010 story.

  70. avatar Green Goblin says:

Bent, don’t bother even arguing with AKA JAck….He is the ultimate Jets homer!!! Believe me, if Welker was a Jet and Holmes was a Patriot then AKA Jack would be agreeing with you…Actually, he would probably be making an argument about how Welker is the best WR in the NFL…

  71. avatar Bent says:

Goblin – Jack’s a smart poster, whose opinion I respect. Both have different elements to their game which makes it possible to make a reasonable argument for either, as you’ve each done.

Holmes is on the rise, so if he isn’t as good as Welker yet (and I give Welker the nod due to his resume over the past several years), he’s hopefully on his way.

It’s a subjective question that hinges on what you want from your wideout. I don’t think there’s a definitive answer, but Jack’s comment doesn’t strike me as blind homerism. A little optimistic perhaps, but there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic. Hopefully, the Jets system – with all these weapons – will at least enable Holmes – in 12 games, plus hopefully 3 in the playoffs – to be more productive than Welker coming off an injury in 2010

  72. avatar AKA Jack says:

    Green Goblin-

Is anyone who disagrees with your pithy analysis which consists of your opinion with a nary a fact or stat in sight a homer?

Before coming to the Pats from the Fins Welker was a career afterthought. He caught 0, 29 and then 67 catches in three years for about 1000 yards. He then went to one of the most pass oriented teams in the league and stepped into a spot where he got a lot of targets. In fact, why don’t you tell me which WR were targeted more last season. i’ll wait, take your time.

Give up? I understand, it was a trick question. Welker was targeted more than any other WR in the NFL last season. That is the design of the offense. I know, I live in Boston and I watch the Pats play. When Welker went out either with an injury or to take a blow, Edelman, a rookie who was a QB in college, got roughly the same percentage of targets and would up the season with 37 catches. That’s a very high number given the limited playing time he had. Remember, he was playing behind Welker the NFL’s leading pass catcher. Here’s another question for you, which receiver position on which team was targeted more than the slot position for the Pats?

That was an easy one. That answer is no team threw to a specific wide receiver position, in this case the slot, than the Pats and it wasn’t even close. Over 200 passes to the slot.

By contrast Holmes was a number 2 receiver on the Steelers and even though he played significantly more snaps he only got targeted 127 times and the backup, Mike Wallace, who took snaps for both Ward and Holmes (more for Ward, Holmes took more snaps than any WR in the NFL last year) got 71 targets. In his first 4 seasons in the NFL, Holmes has caught 235 passes for 3835 yards, 20 touchdowns and 1 Super Bowl MVP trophy. Welker caught 208 passes for 2296 yards, 9 touchdowns and 0 Super Bowl MVP trophies. Over half of the catches and roughly half the yardage Welker got in his first 4 years came in his first season with the Pats. You starting to see a trend?

Significantly, the two played vastly different roles for their teams. Welker was the ultimate short yardage, possession receiver. His job was to catch the ball at an average of 5 yards beyond the line and then get YAC. He was very good at it. Holmes’ job was to stretch the field and his average catch was almost 10 yards beyond the line and get YAC. Now these may seem like trivial distinctions to you but you would be wrong. Welker was often covered by a LB or a nickel back where Holmes was matched up against the number 1 or 2 corner. In the Pats’ offense, Welker was more an extension of the running game than a deep threat.

I could go on but I suspect it wouldn’t matter. You’re not interested in facts, just stating your opinion and calling people who don’t agree with it names.

Welker’s a damn good slot receiver and I’d take him on my team. Holmes has more ability and is a better all around WR, I’d take him before I’d take Welker. Your mileage may differ.

  73. avatar AKA Jack says:

    Bent-

I forgot to say thanks for the kind words.

  74. avatar Green Goblin says:

Jack, I’m beginning to understand that you don’t know what you’re talking about! You claim that Welker was an afterthought in Miami!!! Sure, that’s why the Patriots had to trade second and seventh round picks for him, way more than the Jets had to give up for Holmes and the Patriots had to give up to get Moss!!! That’s why Welker’s last season with the Dolphins was a better season than Holmes ever had (and Welker spent a bulk of that season as their third receiver)!!! And like you even admitted, Miami is not a pass-oriented team and they didn’t have a HOF QB throwing to him!!! Did it ever cross your brain that Welker was targeted more than any other WR in the NFL last season because he was the best WR last season!!! Duh!!! Just because you claim to live in Boston and watch the Pats play doesn’t mean you’re an expert on them…I live in New York but have the NFL package and I bet I watched them play at least as much as you last season…Give me a break with Edelman already when you claim to know the Pats yet you think Welker is their number one receiver..Did you ever hear of Randy Moss??Hello!!! So like Holmes, Welker was a number 2 receiver..
Finally, how can you say that I don’t use stats when if you’d bother to look at my previous comment you will see that I compared them using their ACTUAL STATS!!! I don’t play with stats to win my argument like you do…The stats speak for themselves..They show that Welker is a better player than Holmes up until this point..And I don’t care about ability when determining who is the better WR..If you are gonna go by ability than Edwards is by far the best WR on the Jets and is better than Jerry Rice…And I never said that Welker is a better all-around WR or has more ability/potential or who’d you take on your team…I simply stated that Welker is a better WR than Holmes…You seem to be dancing around that statement (what a shock)…Bent and I are in agreement that Welker has been a better (thus is a better WR up until this point) WR than Holmes…I bet if ESPN did a poll with fans, refs, coaches, or players that Welker would beat Holmes in every poll…The only polls Holmes would win would be one’s on Jets sites because there are a lot of homers like you in sports!!! But if you made it more objective (took out Patriots and Jets fans) then Welker would win every time…So do you admit that Welker has been a better WR than Holmes?? I win again!!! Man, you’re so easy to defeat in arguments!!

You can’t even win an argument with yourself. When you can do that get back to me.

You know what I meant…Why don’t you stop being a wise guy and admit that Welker is a better WR than Holmes but Holmes has the potential to surpass him…Come on, that’s fair…Man up…
