Revis Ready to Work With Wilson

by Bassett on May 15th, 2010 at 2:24 pm

Darrelle Revis is looking forward to teaching rookie Kyle Wilson a thing or two, but it sounds like motivation won’t be an area of concern.

“I’m going to try to take him under my wing,” Revis said. “Kyle seems like a nice guy—a hard worker.”

Revis has already received a ringing endorsement from the coaching staff. Wilson, of course, will be the team’s starting nickel corner in the slot.

“After that rookie minicamp – we had that week off – but I stayed up here,” Revis said. “I was talking to the coaches about him just to see what they thought. They say he’s going to help us a lot and he’s a hard worker.”

Wilson will be a big help to the Jets defense and it’s going to be fun to watch him work with one of the best players in the league.  Let’s see how much he can learn from him before the start of the season.

This is what makes Revis such an asset. Not only the fact that he had a god-like season on defense. But the fact that he works his ass off, and goes out of his way to help the rest of the team. He improves the team through ways other than just his exceptional play on the field, which is invaluable. He has a great personality that people like, and he likes to help people. Revis may end up being the most famous player to ever don the green and white when it is all said and done.

Revis is incredible. I hope Mike T was right the other day saying that Revis will retire a Jet.

Juunit – Wow….Wow…Wow..I understand the enthusiasm for Revis and appreciate it as well, but are you forgetting one “Curtis my favorite and yours Martin” #28. Revis has some pretty big and long shoes to fill if you ask me before giving him that title.

This is noooo small deal…..this is the kind of leadership we have needed in a long time and this could be the difference in Kyle becoming a good player or a great player. When a guy like Revis “takes you under his wing” it can change a career…..great Job Revis & Jets!

This is like learning ballroom dancing from Fred Astaire…

Wilson must be in Hog Heaven!

It is so good to hear about a young star who is willing to help another teammate. I am sick of the TO’s and Ochocinco’s with their enormous ego problems. I always root against players like that. When, who else but, Revis shut them down and threw them to the ground — you know, I loved it. Our corners are going to be awesome, for years to come. I already have the Revis jersey. Hopefully, i’ll want to get the Wilson, after this season.

I love Curtis Martin just as much as the next Jets fan. But he never had a season that was just so flat out dominant as Revis had. I mean, Rex Ryan said it, he had possibly the best season any CB has ever had. He shut down literally every single receiver to go up against him. If he can continue that, even for one or two more years at that level, he would be an automatic induction into the HOF for such complete dominance of the entire league. He was absolutely better than EVERYBODY, no small feat at all. It may be early in his career, but barring injuries Revis WILL be great, that kind of talent doesn’t disappear.

Well lets be honest, wilson is not revis. but if revis does want to teach him what he can, he can no doubt make an great impact

Idk man, Revis wasn’t all that different then Wilson coming out of college. It’s his insane work ethic and drive that got him to the level he’s at right now. If he can instill that in Wilson, he could potentially reach a level somewhere close to Revis’, maybe even just as good or better??? Highly unlikely, but you never know.
