Jim Leonhard Speaks on His Football Camp

by Bassett on June 28th, 2010 at 12:00 pm

Strong Safety Jim Leonhard held his annual skills camp for young football players back in his native Wisconsin last week.

"It’s really important to run a camp to be involved," Leonhard said. "I’ve seen it run a lot of different ways. I believe to get in there, get your hands dirty, really help to make kids better. It means a lot for them to come around, be active in the camp."

Leonhard also knows the staff that helping him out at the camp has plenty of good pointers to give out as well.

"All the coaches I’ve brought in the past and this year have done a great job," Leonhard said. "Great teachers for the players and other coaches as well, a lot of information they can carry on to their football seasons, so hopefully they have more success."

Be sure to check the link above for some video footage of Jim Leonhard at his camp, working with the campers.

Cromartie had a broken hip last year and might not be recovered, Jets must be using the Mets medical staff.

    WOJF,

That’s some pretty old news. It was the 2008 season that the hip was broken during, not the 2009 season.

if you don’t like jim leonhard, you have a problem with yourself.

He’s smaller than a lot of the players on high school varsity squads, and flies into giant behemoths with fearlessness you just don’t see very often. Jimmy is the man, a heart-and-soul guy that the blue-collar fans of this team can really identify with. Keep up the good work.

Brendan, you are correct the fracture was 2008 but ESPN reports he is having issues currently,

“SOMETHING TO KEEP AN EYE ON

While talking to Thurman, he mentioned that Cromartie was rested for a few reps in minicamp because of a sore hamstring and “somewhat of a hip issue.” That’s interesting because Cromartie played the entire 2008 season with a fractured hip. No one knew it at the time, but he made the revelation shortly after the season ended. He said it happened in the opener.

Could that be a reason why he wasn’t as productive in 2008 and 2009? Will it be a factor this year? It bears watching. “
