Former Jet Mickey Shuler, Sr. is helping his son, now drafted as a Viking Tight End, and according to those in the league like Dolphins OC Dan Henning, the younger’s game is apparently much like that of his father.
Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator Dan Henning had to pause the NFL scouting tape and look again: It wasn’t the former New York Jets All-Pro tight end Mickey Shuler who played briefly under Henning, but his son, Mickey Shuler Jr.
"It’s scary that he’s so much like me," said Mickey Sr., who went to Penn State himself. "[Henning] called me and said, ‘I’m sitting here watching you on film … but it’s not you, it’s your son.’"
Pretty cool that Junior’s not only carrying on the tradition of his father, but that in some way, Shuler’s game is getting re-incarnated in the form of his son.

I forget just how good Mickey Shuler was, and at a time when we also had Al Toon, and Wes Walker, not to mention Freeman McNeil. Unfortunately we had Joe Walton as our coach.

Bent, I would be AWESOME if we drafted Al Toon’s son.

Mickey Shuler is one of the most underrated players in Jets history.

One minor difference…Shuler Jr had 300 receiving yards in his entire college career, whereas his Father had 600 in his Senior year alone (and was an all-American).
Still hoping the Jets draft Nick Toon in April.
