Don Banks plays 20 questions with the NFL and has a question (and answer) about the Jets.

12. Are there enough cameras to capture all that Jets star power on HBO?

This should be fun. You could put shoot-from-the-lip head coach Rex Ryan alone in front of the Hard Knocks cameras for five consecutive hours and it would make for must-see television. But when you add new Jets LaDainian Tomlinson, Jason Taylor, Antonio Cromartie and Santonio Holmes to the group of quotemeisters who populated New York’s locker room last year — see Bart Scott, Darrelle Revis, Braylon Edwards and Mark Sanchez — there could be Jets fighting for HBO face time like the crazies who stand behind Dick Vitale and wave their arms at a college basketball game.

Most coaches would hate the distraction of having their training camp turned into a documentary series, but not Ryan and not his brash-talking Jets. I expect that they will not only embrace the national exposure, but also might push to have the series extended into the regular season. I’m kidding. I think.

While the show generally makes sure to chronicle the brash younger players trying to make the team too, I’d be interested to see how some of the veterans like Tony Richardson, Damien Woody, and Shaun Ellis play out on camera.  By all accounts, they’ve been extremely congenial fellows when I’ve had the chance to speak with them, and I think they’ll lend some even-keeled … what’s the word I’m looking for … stability? to the locker room.

The fact is like it or not this is great for our franchise. We have been in the Giants shadow outside of a few Parcells years since day 1. We put together a great playoff run with a young team led by a young QB and brash coach. This show basically represents and documents everything we do……except now we dont have to watch it on SNY or Youtube.

A few years ago I would have been against this but considered how much media access is around anyway I couldnt be more happy that we are doing this.

The only negative is we will be getting a bunch of new fans this year. I hate new bandwagon fans!!

Drew – I think it is a good thing because of Rex AND it throws us in the limelight – guys will be used to bright lights, big stage, and expectations.

Unfortunately, it is also good for the Lupicas, Francessas, and Myers of the world – they will be past posting like crazy. They will have after the fact theories about how this was the best thing ever or worst thing ever.
