Link: Best Team in the NFL?

by Steiny on July 23rd, 2010 at 10:21 am

SportingNews has released their Pre Season Power Rankings, and many fans will be pleased to see where they ranked the Jets.

1. New York Jets – Potential headache: CB Darrelle Revis, C Nick Mangold and ILB David Harris all want new deals.

This is clearly a nice feeling, as its been a long time since the Jets have been ranked the number team in the NFL.  However, this is all speculation and a lot can happen from now until the start of the season.  For now, it is nice to see all of Tannenbaum’s hard work paying off, and to witness the Jets finally getting the respect they deserve.

Sporting News has been beyond effuse in regards to us this offseason. I mean, they picked the team to win the Super Bowl in an issue with Revis and Sanchez on the cover. The dudes like us.

    finally some respect !!!!!!

Better than Sports Illustrated. Last year SI put the Mets on the cover and they went on to have a Hindenberg of a season.

    Dear SI,

Please stay the hell away from my teams. Forever.

it all comes down to injuries and how much better Sanchez can get

Man, Oh man, Oh man….the pressure keeps building !!!!!

It’s going to come down to Sanchez’ play. If he can play like he did in the playoffs we could easily be considered among the best. If he continues to be inconsistent like he was in his rookie season you cannot rank us among the best.

Potential Headache: Sanchez having more multiple interception games.

I’m not hating on Sanchez, I’m just looking at the facts.

I love that the jets come first, but that’s a crazy list. Panthers at number 8, above ravens, eagles, pats? hahah…………

  8. avatar JesusRevis says:

Did anyone else notice the Panthers were 8th? This is quite possible the worst power rankings I have ever seen

  9. avatar greene says:

    JesusRevis,

yes i did, and i also beat you to the punch by 3 minutes, haha.

This is the first time I can remember ANY sports mag or pundit picking the Jets as #1 preseason—and I’ve been a Jets fan since before they were the Jets, I saw the Jets play when they were the Titans.

Gotta say, it’s an unusual feeling.

That said, this isn’t a very convincing list, with the Colts at #7 (?!), and the Panthers (the friggin PANTHERS!) at #8.

  11. avatar Brendan says:

Know what’s funny, everyone criticizes this list, but it’s lists like this that usually turn out being the closest to the real final rankings (unless they’re being done by Peter King, and then they’re just idiotic from season’s start to season’s finish).

Just as a reference this is last year’s preseason rankings

  13. avatar juunit says:

This is just dumb, it’s beyond dumb.

  14. avatar charleyjet says:

That ranking and a Metro Card will get them on the bus.

  15. avatar Chrebet80 says:

Yeah, the power rankings really don’t mean anything, but as a Jets, Mets, Knicks and Islanders fan it is nice to see people predict one of my teams to be the best, espically the Jets!

  16. avatar Lt Dan says:

Finally, some respect for the Dolphins when they destroy you this year!

i am glad to see a good coach for the jets take charge
