    tyferraro –

Yes, anyone is welcome to go to Cortland to watch practice on the days open to the public. Practice is free — that’s an NFL rule — although if I remember, SUNY Cortland did charge $5 or so to park there. I stayed in a nearby hotel (like I will be doing this year) and walked to practice, so I didn’t have to pay.

If you can go, I recommend every fan do it at least once. It’s a unique experience and a great opportunity to get close to the players and see them in a different environment than game day. Cortland itself is a very nice small town and while the Jets are there, totally embraces them and the fans. I can’t wait to go back …

Oh, and the way it works — you just walk into the stadium/practice field where they are practicing and take a seat (or stand along the walls) and just watch practice. It’s that simple. Very laid back.

Ty- R in CT is absolutely right, my son and I went last year it was great and we cant wait to go again. We were very close to the players and coaches. Im not sure what days we are going but I’m definately going again. My son got alot of signatures on his football and fell asleep with it in his arms on the way home. This year though we are staying for a couple days.

How long do the practices last? This will be my first year going. I know there is one in the morning and at night.. What can you do in the downtime?

The Cortland region is pretty empty but beautiful

You’re right in the fingerlakes and there’s good hiking and biking and fishing and nature to be explored out there if you’re into that kind of thing. I set up at a campsite last year and had a good time.

If you’re not so into the outdoors, Ithaca is a 45 minute drive – cool city.

In Cortland, there’s some restaurants and bars. If you chill on that main street long enough, you’re bound to run into a Jet. Last year I found Kerry Rhodes outside a pizza shop.

Dittos on the prior comments from last year’s camp attendees. I’m 4 hours north in the Adirondacks so stayed one night in a local motel. The practices are about 2 hours long..only charge is the $5 parking. They even run golf carts from the parking lot to the stadium and though they are meant for folks who physically need the ride, they’ll stop along the way and encourage anyone else to jump on board. Extremely friendly atmosphere..well worth the trip.
