While he was drafted by the Jets and played for eight years in New York, word has leaked that Aaron Glenn will retire today as a member of the Texans, two years removed from his last day in a uniform, by signing a one-day contract with the Texans, the team has announced.
It would seem that Aaron Glenn might never have forgave the Jets for not protecting him in the expansion draft that sent him to the Texans. And after us putting him in the TJB HOF too this week! Harrumph!!
In all seriousness, Angel Navedo, who just wrote the induction of Glenn this week, wrote something that I think was profound on his Twitter account last night:
Despite his decision, I can’t forget what he meant to the Jets in my youth.
He spurned the team, not my memories. Regardless of [with whom] Glenn chose to file his retirement papers, he played his best years in a Jets uniform.
Well said, Angel.

Hey dknyj,
I’ve seen you take issue with my usage of the ‘Fake Spike’ game. Trust me, I was struggling with whether or not I wanted to use that in the article, too.
It bring back a lot of aggravation. But from a story-telling perspective, and through quotes from Glenn himself, it was important to illustrate how that game bothered him as much as it bothered fans. By your opposition to me using it, I know that’s true.
The highlight video was just a good find on YouTube, and should serve the purpose of reminding fans that Glenn’s blown coverage may have allowed the final score, but wasn’t the reason the Jets lost the game.

Remember Aaron Glenn was an Aggie! He played at Texas A&M.
Despite his, as well as every Jets fans, disappointment by being left unprotected during the expansion draft, he was a true Texan. This does not, nor should it or will detract from his contributions to the Jets.
Should he be the first NJB HOF inductee removed?

I like the site design..nice work

Wow really Aaron Glenn?and you were one of my favorite jets

This might be less about being mad at the Jets and more about loving Texas. He played at A&M and was an original Texan, even if it wasn’t his first choice.
He was still the best Jets CB I had ever seen until Revis.

Isn’t he from Texas as well?

I ignored responding to the mistake of putting Glenn in the TBJ’s HOF. I think Glenn’s decision sums it better than I could have.
Ironically CB has not been a HOF position on this team (like Snell, Freeman, and CMart) or WR (Maynard, Wesley, Toon), LB (Mehl stands out the most but…), the DL (the exhange, Elliot/Philbin, JA).
In truth, in the 40 plus years I have watched them, only two CB come to mind. One of the best and one of the not so best who helped us win a SB.
Revis, in his two years, will be a HOF. The first CB on this team that dominated WR and changed how OC’s design a game plan.
But the other CB, was Johnny Sample. Slow, dirty (getting some unfortunate penalties), yet his mouth and style distracted the Colts almost as much as their egos, Namath’s prediction, and our running game.

Good. He shouldn’t be in tjb hof. Fake spike.
