Screw revis the guy is a selfish s.o.b he had one breakout season and now wants to be the highest paid cb in history he has three years on his current contract too revis your a straight up d bag
-
All of you saying screw Revis and what not need to stop. You know once he’s on the field locking guys down and getting into’s your all gonna love him again. This deal is going to get worked out eventually and he will be on the field once the season starts. Is Revis being selfish righ now? Yes. But don’t be calling him names because we all know your gonna be all on him when he’s making plays. He’s the best player on this team and we all know we need this guy to end his career as a Jet so stop the nonsense.
-
That doesn’t give him the right to be a SELFISH BABY and a JERK.

Yes, most people make WAY less than Revis, but most people also couldn’t do what Revis does. Let me rephrase that NOBODY can do what Revis does. Comparing a football players salary to what the rest of us make is absurd. Its completely different. Revis makes WAY less than he deserves to be making. 500k may be a nice salary, but he could get injured at any moment and would be left without a job and no way of making money. He needs to think about financial security. He deserves to be compensated fairly. If all of you guys have a problem with that, maybe you should have become professional football players… Oh wait, its not that easy is it!
-
No way of making money? There were plenty of guarantees in his contract. In fact, the only way he has no way of making money is if he holds out and voids those guarantees.
Even if he signed the extension and then got hurt, he could still get insurance (and, considering the fact that the team covers his medical bills when he’s with them so he doesn’t need to pay that, it isn’t an outrageous expense) in case he ever got hurt. Even now, he’s making that money without needing to worry about paying medical, and, if he really needed a job if he ever got hurt, he already got most of a college degree for free from football (one that Pitt would likely let him finish for free considering what he contributed to that school). So don’t try to undersell what Revis makes.
-
All right well if you would be willing to work for less than 5% of what you deserve, good for you.
-
If I signed a contract with 3 years left on it, and that was part of my contract, and my boss offered me a very, very significant raise that they in no way were obligated to offer me, and I had absolutely no opportunity to leave my job and make a similar wage elsewhere, I would be thrilled to take whatever I can get. Which is the exact situation Revis is in right now since, as you pointed out, he’s not making money elsewhere (which is wrong, since even if he got hurt he could easily finish his college degree or get into coaching, but he wouldn’t make as much).
Revis can’t leave the team for 3 years due to a contract he agreed to sign, and the team is offering him more money without being forced to do so, I’d be elated in that situation.
-
And anyway, that wasn’t even the point of my reply. My point was that it doesn’t make sense to try to make his salary this year sound like nothing, and talk about how he’s at such risk and can’t get a job elsewhere, when his salary is 500K with the team covering many costs for him, he gets endorsements, and the team is offering him even more money. His financial security is more than fine.
-
NFL contracts are negotiable. It is assumed that if you outplay your contract you get paid, just like if you under perform you get cut. If contracts were guaranteed than I would agree with you. But the fact is that if Revis had played badly, he would have been cut already. I don’t have a problem with him holding out for more money. In fact, I think that most people would do the same thing if they were in his position. He is risking losing more money by holding out. But a lot of people on here make it seem like he is breaking the law.
-
If Revis had been cut already, he would have made about $11 million. Don’t give me that they’re not guaranteed, there’s a ton of guaranteed money. And yes, they’re negotiable when the player actually has leverage. Not when he has 3 years left, plus he’s already proven to be worried about career length (why else be worried about guarantees for injury?) so he can’t sit out and not get an accrued year, plus they could easily franchise him after those 3 years and he would still probably make less than he’s worth. He’s not in a position to negotiate, not when he got MORE than he should have by his slot as a rookie (it’s a down year in the contract, he knew there would be one when he signed it, that’s why he got more last year), and not when they control him for 3 more years, so I’m getting very tired of the woe is Revis act when he put himself in this position and the team is STILL offering him more without needing to.
-
Even if he is set financially (though I don’t think that if he was to suffer a career ending injury that would be the case), the fact is he deserves to be paid. He clearly outplayed his contract. I’m not saying that we should all feel sorry for him. There are millions of people who would love to to what he does and to earn his salary. But the NFL is a business and he is making a business decision. Regular people go on strike or demand a raise all the time if they feel they are being underpaid. Revis is doing the same thing but at a larger scale. Lets just hope he gets paid. I love how we are all so worried about Woody’s money. The guy who charges ridiculous prices for PSL’s. The guy who charges ridiculous prices for food and drinks at Jets games. God forbid he had to use some of his billions of dollars on the Jets star player.

PLEASE! As if being an ATHLETE and PLAYING A GAME is the most dangerous profession in the world! You have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! How about members of the military? They don’t get paid millions of dollars and THEIR job is much more dangerous. How are THEY going to make money if they lose a limb? Professional athletes are GROSSLY overpaid, it’s completely disgusting and they simply do not deserve that type of money.
-
Thats fine if you have a problem with how much athletes make, but its not the players fault. Football is a form of entertainment. Is it disturbing how much athletes make? Yes. But its because of people like you and me that watch every game and pay money to watch the our favorite teams play. Professional sports is a completely different world. Revis gets WAY less than he should be getting, for doing the job he does. If you want to argue that professional athletes in general shouldn’t make so much money, than I support you. But thats a different issue. The fact is, guys who do what Revis does make a lot more money that he does. If you want to hate the system, fine, but blaming Revis for trying to get what the sport dictates as fair value is absurd.
-
Right but my point is you shouldn’t be trying to make people feel bad about his situation. Even if he got injured, he already has enough money to live the rest of his life without working. Just about anyone would kill to have his natural physical abilities and I know that I for one would be going to practice and being a good teammate instead of b*tching and moaning about my contract. I don’t blame him for trying to cash in, I blame him for being a baby and not going to practice.
-
I never said we should all feel sorry for him. All I said was that I don’t think he is wrong for holding out, and I understand why he is doing it. Football is a game, but the NFL is a business. Revis is making a business decision. Thats what it comes down to.
-
By being a bad teammate and pissing off the fans, who by the way, he wouldn’t have a job if it weren’t for the fans he’s pissing off.

Surprised you allowed the music associated with the awesome Madden video! Language is pretty raw w/o any warning for kids that happen to be Jets fans and view the site for stories. You usually filter offensive material.

The Jets STOMPED the Colts in this demo. The last time I saw the Jets man-handle the Colts like this was back in the 2002 playoff game. Is this a sign of things to come?
-
I’m still iffy on this new Madden game. You don’t have nearly as much control over the players as in years past.
-
I can honestly say that this year’s game is technically much improved than last year. The new locomotion system with the consideration of momentum of the players movement makes the game much more realistic than games of the past. I am extremely disappointed by the lack of blocking on kick returns. I am looking foward to Aug.10 however. If anyone has any questions about Madden, please leave a reply.
Thanks,

From playing this demo, I can honestly say that Shonn Greene and Braylon Edwards are BEAST this year!
