As Antonio Cromartie prepares to begin his Jets debut a few weeks from now, his former teammates in San Diego are letting him know how they feel. The New York Post sums it up.
Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie has more children than he has friends remaining in the Chargers secondary.
“We all know there were guys in the locker room who didn’t like him,” Chargers cornerback Quentin Jammer told the San Diego Union Tribune. “He didn’t like them. We don’t have to deal with that now.”
Cromartie was traded to the Jets in March and seems to have been accepted by his new teammates. His old teammates certainly are enjoying life without him.
“Me and Cro had conflicts,” Chargers safety Eric Weddle said. “That’s just the way it is.”
The report says, “The bad vibe that spilled out from the defensive backs’ corner of the locker room affected much more than even just the defense. More than a few offensive players talked about the peaceful and productive offseason and how the team didn’t have to worry any more about the secondary’s ‘drama.’
“It’s refreshing,” Weddle said. “I can’t tell you how nice it is to come to work every day and not have that in the room and just knowing everyone is on the same page, everyone is behind each other.”
Jammer’s theory is that Cromartie “lashed out’ to attempt to force a trade, according to the report.
The Chargers can say what they want, but I’m happy he’s now a Jet. Cro has shined in camp and the coaches have been raving about his play on the field. It may be unrealistic to assume Cro will have an All-Pro season like he had in 2007, but with Revis on the other side (we hope) he should get to show what he’s all about.

eric weddle? isnt he the guy shonn greene trucked in that long run in the playoff game??? LOL!
pipe down, eric.
-
Uh, no, that would be Antonio “your asking me to tackle” Cromartie, aka crack baby spittin machine.
-
No no… that was Weddle that got trucked. Cro was smart enough not to try to get bulldozed by Shonn. Stick to Charger blogs.
-
Uh, no, it wouldn’t.
-
Cro didn’t even attempt to make his tackle which allowed SG to hit Weddle at full speed. Weddle is the strong safety, he should have made that tackle.

The Chargers sound like sniveling babies. They seem to have a lot to say about Cro and LT and how they notice the difference without them around. Way to stay classy. With the few exceptions of indirect criticism of Kerry Rhodes, the “loudmouth” Jets are classy enough to avoid trashing their ex-teammates.

dumb post
-
-
the media out here is a shill for the team, they are not objective, they look for any reason to pump up the team – they did the same thing after Seau and Harrison left. At least with Seau it was legitimate, he was not a Pro Bowl caliber player since 1999, and this “leader” would point and scream at teammates on the field
-
Hes better then everyone in that secondary
-
Just wait until he gets in a few bar brawls and drunken car crashes. Yah, he’s a class act and we’ll sure miss him. Hahaha!
-
-
Anyone going to the game tonight?? I’m down in the queen city ready to rip!!
-
So basically the gist is…
They’re happy…
And we’re happy…
Sounds fine to me.

+1

-
Also, a lot of our players trashed Kerry Rhodes while he was here and after he was gone, the same with Favre. It happens in every organization I’m sure.
-
When they discover the secret to making everyone happy, let me know.

Bass what radio station Jets games broadcast On?? ANYONE??

Darrelle Revis just signed…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
for food stamps.
-
From the second HK, I’d guess he needs to focus his intensity. ‘Talent’ will only go so far then determined effort is required. His failure to attack Greene in the playoffs would cause a similar response from the Jets D. He’d be tied to a goalpost, and left.
-
Hey Bassett, your team in the P&G blogger league is WWRD? Pretty nice, but you need receiver help.
-
Trust me Jet Fans, Cro is not into tackling of any sort. He may be a decent cover guy, but he is a cancer. As far as LT, I love the man and what he did for Bolt Nation, but he has lost a step. you’ll soon find out…Good luck Jet fans. No animosity here toward the fans.
-
For a second I thought you were a Jets fan before I seen the Name.No disrespect but I really believe the Jets have a much better O Line than the Chargers.Any Runningback can look good under our line. This is why I think LT still has it, especially as a weapon in the passing game.
-
Yup, basically going from one of the worse offensive lines to the best in the NFL. LT will be fine. If Thomas Jones could do it (I would debate that he DIDN’T really) then LT definitely can.
-
-
Yeah dude I think you’re right about Cro’s tackling but hopefully it won’t be a big issue for us. We need his man cover skills more than anything in case you missed the 2nd half of the AFC title game lol.
As for LT, obv he’s lost a step from when he was MVP in 06, but LT losing a step is still better than plenty of other RBs. He showed good hands and a good burst in our 1st game. Running behind our nasty line and hall of fame FB won’t hurt either. Not to mention he’s not carrying the load, he’s coming in after Shonn Greene pounds on ppl 1st.
-
619SD, Poway resident here. Yes, LT has lost a step, but he is not being asked to run for 1,800 yards in 2010. He is being asked to spell SG and catch balls out of the backfield. And as you well know, Norv turned the O into a throw-happy O and the line went from a great run blocking line to 1980s Miami back-pedal OL
-
There’s a reason Norv made the Chargers a “pass happy” team: Ladanian Tomlinson could no longer run as an effective running back. Don’t believe me? Then learn the hard way – by watching him “run” this season. Guarunteed he’s not a Jet after this season.
-
TPTP you must not watch the same games I do. The holes that were there in 2006 and 2007 just were not there the last 2 years – and as I said LT has lost a step. If the OL was playing at the same level it was in 2006 and 2007 than Sproles would have averaged over a carry more a yard. Norv is now going to do what Jimmy J tried to do in Mimai – FORCE a running game. I hope it works – I root for Bolts as long as they do play the JETS or impact the JETS – they are my wife’s favorite team.

-
-
Sounds like they are just upset because he forced a trade. No big deal. They are only reacting to the fact he wanted out of San Diego probably due to the scheme they had on defense.Nothing to really get worked about. Both Jets and Chargers are glad they went their seperate ways.
-
They are going to be even more pissed at him, when he gets two picks against them, in the next Jet-Charger game.
-
Two picks how? He can’t hold onto the football since ’07.
-
-
Wait so the same Jet’s fans who trashed us last year saying LT was past his prime and Cro was a head case, now think they have found gold? It’s fools gold, but the Irony in here is worse.
-
If anyone was dissing those 2 in particular it was just reaching to defend the barrage of insults about how we didn’t belong in the playoffs against the big bad Chargers. Everyone can see that you guys became a pass happy offense with a weak run blocking line.
We’ll see at the end of the year who was right. LT should rush for about 600-700 yards with 7-8 TDs and catch about 40 out of the backfield with an additional 2-3 TDs. Cro is up in the air cuz of Revis but I’d say 5-6 INT for him.
-
That’s a little less than what he did last year, so I am fine with that. As long as he is no longer our problem, I am very happy with what I am seeing from Ryan Matthews.

Oh and to the commenter of this piece. Cro always plays well in camp, do your homework. He just breaks down mentally in games.

Off topic:
The Pats already had Mankins holding out, but now vet OL Nick Kaczur is likely out for THE SEASON with back surgery:
http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/16728/report-nick-kaczur-has-back-surgery
Brady isn’t mobile and doesn’t have Peyton’s lightning release…he better get his contract in order before Big Jenks, who owned Mankins, gets some licks at their makeshift OL.
-
Yo Jets fans…(name calling deleted) pay attention.
A) Cromartie always had stellar camps with the Chargers, he’s a phenomenal athlete.
B) That said, he doesn’t have enough brains to fill an egg cup. He openly blamed Ron Rivera for his poor performance, he points fingers when he gets beat, completely refuses to tackle, and routinely gets beat by hitch and dig routes.
C) Did you name calling deleted even watch the Giants game???? He barely grazed Ahmad Bradshaw on that 50+yd dumpoff, and he outright dodge Jacobs a few times to avoid contact.
D) Its a matter of time until this guy starts clashing with the other type A personalities in your locker room. He’s a cancer, and I’d bet 100 bucks he doesn’t get a long term contract with the Jets.
No name calling/trolling/inflammatory comments. We don’t tolerate that here.
Thanks, TJB.
-
Matt – if you want to post on here, do so with intelligent analysis sans the name calling
-
-
Looks like TJB is being invaded by another fanbase upset about something. Hey Matt why don’t you go worry about your own team winning a playoff game 1st?
B. Cro blamed the system because he excelled in man coverage (which the Jets play) and you switched to more zone, hence his INTs went down.
C. Yes, we idiots watched the Giants game. He should have had 2 INTs but he did provide solid coverage on the outside which is why we acquired him. If you’re relying on a CB to make game saving tackles you’re in trouble anyway.
D. You’re prob right that he won’t get an extension cuz we drafted the best cover corner in the draft in the 1st round, Kyle Wilson. He’ll learn as the nickel back this year and probably take over Cro’s spot next year when the Jets are scrambling to re-sign our wealth of talent.
-
exactly Shane. do you think of any of us are Cardinal and Chief blogs dissing Faneca and TJ?
-
-
why are SD fans on our blog hey you want cro an lt back.they said the same thing about edwards and he has changed .they have 1 year contracts if they suck they will be gone.worry about your team.
-
plus revis will be back soon.I gaurantee .
-
I hope other teams are paying as much attention to us as their fans are. We already know Dolphins and Giants fans would rather read every article about the Jets and bash them and talk smack than read about their own teams.
This article was about comments the Chargers players made about their ex teammates, how did this argument even start? They said it, not us lol.
-
Giants are dropping like flies right now, and Phins fans have always had some bizarre inferiority complex. Probably something to do with their state being invaded by NY retirees waxing poetic about back home.
-
-
does anyone have a site where i can stream the game live tonight?
-
is the game on tv tonight? if so, anyone know the channel?
-
I love that the Chargers are so dull this year that their fanbase has to come here to get their football fix. What the hell is their problem anyway? The Chargers were a laughingstock until they shaped up with Rivers and Gates and co. I’ve been a fan of theirs from afar. Hell, this blog even went out of their way to praise Chargers fans for standing up for a Jets fan who was wrongly arrested at the Chargers game. Unfortunately, there will always be some trolls out there who have a little too much time on their hands until gametime.
-
You do know this is the first thing that appears under chargers links right? So it’s not exactly like people are coming out of nowhere.
-
And chargers aren’t concerned with you, IMO you were a better team last year. This year, you’ve tried way too hard to mock the Patriots with all your aging veteran signings and head case signings. Good luck with that team chemistry or getting passed the Colts for that matter.
-
Chris, I agree that we may have taken a risk or 2 with the signings. However, none of them are long term and if they don’t work out will be let go after this year. They’re also making hardly any money. Also, none of them are expected to carry the team, they are all extra pieces, complementary players, and role players.
I don’t understand how we were a better team last year at all. There’s no basis for that comment whatsoever.
Think about it, Sanchez was god awful last year and now has a full year of experience and learning the offense, plus the added talent around him with Braylon, Holmes, LT, Coles, and the full year with J-Co and Keller.
Only Bart Scott and Jim Leonhard truly understood Rex’s defense last year and we still finished #1 overall in multiple categories without Kris Jenkins, or any reliable CBs other than Revis. A full year of learning the system, a healthy Jenkins, any additional pass rush from Taylor, and a totally revamped secondary with Cro, Wilson, and Brodney Pool?
It doesn’t guarantee anything but there’s no way this team isn’t in far better shape than it was at this time last year.
-
Don’t bother arguing, he doesnt care or hell, even believe what he’s saying. Its just a dig, based on absolutely no real in depth knowledge of this team.
-
I think the offense will be better for sure, but no Revis, no unstoppable defense IMO. You played off a great formula last year of Great D, Great running game, low risk passing. But I am not sure how if I were you I would feel about Sanchez throwing the ball 400 times this year and becoming a less run dominant team. I think that was your biggest weapon was you made others play mistake free football. As long as Sanchez is attempting 400 passes a year, teams can feel a little more freely to make errors, not to mention the fact that a rookie and cro are in the backfield.
-
1st off, Sanchez isn’t going to be slingin it all over the joint. This is a run 1st team to the umpteenth degree. They just want him to improve, which shouldnt be hard to do considering his stats last year.
2nd, it will be hard without Revis but there’s still plenty of time left before the season starts and it’s unlikely he’ll actually sit out the season.
3rd, Cro and Wilson in the secondary is infinitely better than Lito Sheppard, Dwight Lowery and Drew Coleman from last year. Not to mention anyone is an upgrade over Rhodes at safety, he was our version of the SD Cromartie. Make the flashy play but avoid contact at all costs. However, that’s much more alarming with a safety cuz they’re supposed to hit ppl.
-
-
-
Same to you guys. Good luck kicking a field goal in the playoffs. I understand that’s been an issue…
-
You are correct since we clearly would have beaten you if our kicker wasn’t a choke artist. I am not really disturbed about losing to you, I am disturbed you c*ck blocked a team that would have actually beaten the Colts and most likely the Saints from getting a Superbowl.
-
lol You all couldn’t stop our Offense what makes you think you come close to stopping the Colts and Saints.
We Beat You No Excuses. We Stopped Yall and Yall Didnt Stop Us.-
Couldn’t stop your offense? You didn’t exactly score alot, what was it 15-17 pts? The problem was we couldn’t put the ball in the endzone even though our QB was throwing all over you.
-
-
What a bizarre sentiment. What, do you expect that the Jets just stop midway through and say:
“you, know what? You guys go ahead. I mean, it would really mean a lot to you, and you guys have beaten the Colts in the past, so go ahead. You would all make fine representatives of the AFC!”
Chargers played to form and choked. Worry about your own team before wasting time on ours.
-
One thing I am used to is us choking, but you aren’t exactly a prime example of playoff excellence either. I like the Jets though to be honest, especially now that they are taking the spotlight off of the Giants.

Dear Chargers Fans,
The reason why LT is going to be better for us then he was for you is because our o-line is way better then yours. Also allegedly we’re
a run-first team (I’d like to hear Schotty and Rex call us a run first team come week 5) that last year had Thomas Jones put up staggering numbers. I love TJ as a guy but as a rb dude had no burst and missed holes because he lacked his old speed. That being said LT is kinda similar, his speed has declined and he isn’t the LT of old…BUT he’s still faster then TJ and he can actually catch out of the backfield giving Chez a much needed checkdown security blanket. Oh and about Cro, you know why I’m not worried about Cro? REX MUF***KKKKKIN RYAN. Say whatever you want, players respect Rex and love playing for him. That is why egos will work. That is why I think Cro is going to mature and be fine in games. Our coaching staff > yours and because of it, Cro will grow as a man and a player. Now wave good bye to us and to Vincent Jackson and find a new website to be negative on. I suggest http://www.bolttalk.com ; you may find like minded individuals talking over there.-nydblockny
PS. You’re probably getting your Revis taunts ready for your reply but know that isn’t going to get to me. Darralle will either be a Jet or he won’t. The only jerseys I ever want to see him in during his career are a Jet jersey or an AFC Pro-Bowl Jersey. So in my heart I believe that come our Monday Night Opener I get to watch Darralle & Cro.
WE WIN.
-
Dear Delusional fan, while I think LT could succeed with the Jets, Cro is a lost cause. I am glad the guy who single handily gave the Jets the guy will be in your backfield now. Enjoy his inability to recognizing schemes, quitting antics and unwillingness to tackle. And good try on the “our staff” yours bit. But the fact of the matter is Norv is just as successful as Rex Ryan, even more so in the regular season and I’ll take Ron Rivera over whoever your defensive coordinator is anyday (You know since Rex doesn’t even let him drool on his own).

*Game

Chris – love the passion – SD gets a bum rap as the stereotyped laid back west coast fans – an unfair knock on the die-hard Charger fan base. I understand you are still smarting from last year’s loss, but to lay it all on Kaeding is ridiculous. I heard all week leading up to the game that SD was going to put up 30+ and the D was going to make the JETS throw to win. Give the JETS credit – you were outplayed that day and your QB, not our rookie QB made the critical mistake.
Let’s hope there ia a re-match in the AFC title game in January.
A Poway JETS fan
-
I can definitely agree with that, there were so many things that went wrong for us that day and I give tons of credit to that tough D. I mean realistically it’s tough to win with all those missed FG’s, Cromartie’s lack of tackling, Rivers throwing a pick out of his own endzone, Philips and V-Jack kicking flags. I mean we literally did nothing right and have still shown we struggle against great 3-4 D’s, something we have yet to get passed.
-
-
-
-
I actually hope faneca and tj have great years
-
could not agree more; Leon too. My main conern is the guys we got to replace them have great years.

Anyone know how to watch or listen to the game online this evening?

Try Justin.Tv

aint that that rivero guys radio show??

Justin.TV, not sure they show alot of stuff, it’s mainly to watch all sorts of things though.

It’s one of the first links listed under “Chargers News” on their SportsIllustrated.com page. So it’s not like SD fans were looking through Jets blogs to get their football fix.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/nfl/teams/san-diego-chargers/?eref=sinavthe new york post took snippets of the full article that was posted on The Union Tribune’s site about Cromartie. The NY post article cut certain quotes out of context:
for example:
quote from NY post: “‘We all know there were guys in the locker room who didn’t like him,’ Chargers cornerback Quentin Jammer told the San Diego Union Tribune. ‘He didn’t like them. We don’t have to deal with that now.’”
Full excerpt from the SD-UT:
Cornerback Quentin Jammer is the go-to Charger for no nonsense. He considers Cromartie like a younger brother, attempting over the years to help him at Chargers Park and away from it. Jammer’s theory is that Cromartie “lashed out” to attempt to force a trade.
But Cromartie’s closest friend on the team also cannot lament his departure.
“We all know there were guys in the locker room who didn’t like him,” Jammer said. “He didn’t like them. We don’t have to deal with that now.”
It was Jammer trying to play peacemaker between Cromartie and coaches, Cromartie and other players.
“It’s easier for me now,” Jammer said. “… I tried my best to put out fires, tried to keep the room intact, but it was too much.”
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2010/aug/19/peace-secondary-could-bring-prosperity/

does anybody on that team like any of their teammates…what a bunch of whiny b*tches…
