Tanny’s biggest swing and miss so far?

  3. Why he is disappointed Ill never know. Because he fumbled who hasn’t? And His stats look Identical to Woodheads. Rex didn’t give Money enough chances.
I will admit this though Rex doesn’t have confidence in Mcknight thats why he took him out and gave every carry to Woodhead just because he liked him.
I love Rex as a coach but his passion is a gift and a curse he wanted to win last nights game so bad Mcknight was left hanging in the wind.

Look, I’m not going out of my way to bash McKnight. I know he’s young and all that. But the guy has 4 (FOUR!) FUMBLES IN THIRTY-EIGHT CARRIES! *That* is why Rex doesn’t trust him.

In addition, he has shown really no natural instincts as a running back. When he’s in open space, he’s fine. But name me a running back who isn’t? The problem is, you rarely get wide open space to run in the NFL, and all McKnight does is dance. I watched every minute of every pre-season game, and I didn’t see a single carry of his where he just hit the hole hard.

This ain’t college where USC played half their games against the likes of St. Albans School for the Blind, where he can line up and just “out-talent’ the other team.

He’s got talent, no doubt. But right now, he’s all talent, no football player. Until that changes, he needs to grab some pine, IMHO.

Imagine what Parcels would say to this kid after the fumble against the Eagles.

Everyone, at work and play, knows someone with exceptional skills and ability who can’t get out of their own way. Some guys (Brian Thomas) turn it around but most never do.

It’s just like running the ball in that when you see an opening you gotta hit it hard cause it closes fast.

      • He has three and everybody on our team has been careless with the ball not just him.
He is a Speed Back rarely do Speed Backs Hit The Hole hard! And Its Pre-Season your supposed to be helping him get that not take him out when he doesn’t.
Even though he hasn’t hit the hole hard he still has identical stats to Washington and Woodhead.

        • avatar bigtkyle says:

He’s a 4th round pick, washington and woodhead are undrafted. So your argument is stupid. He shouldn’t have the same stats as those two, they should be better. Not to mention he has more touches than either of them.

    • avatar PSuLking says:

Every time I read your comments, I wonder if you’ve watched one single snap. He pukes all over mini-camp, fails his conditioning test, can’t even participate in training camp at the onset, hits the hole like a retired p-rnstar, refuses to block on punt returns (last night especially), looks completely dejected, doesn’t protect the ball at all (even after his big punt return he fumbled and was gassed on the sideline) and has ZERO heart.

Even McNight himself said his performance thus far has been “Horrible”. There’s playing like a Jet, and Joe McNight. Let him play on some scrub team with no passion, that’s where he belongs. Why are we even comparing him to Woodhead? Danny’s half the size and has one more TD than this bum…

        • Then both of you are fools.

I don’t even want to disprove everything you said because its pointless Mcknight is Better than Woodhead and Washington Now or will ever be.
Who do you think you are judging his heart by the way? What has he done to even give you the idea he doesn’t have it.
I remember a time when everyone was saying the same about Vern turns out he was just thinking to much ever think thats Mcknights problem? No because your to busy pre-judging the kid as usual you all have problems.
You all are to hard on him even though he has done the same exact thing as two other players with less carries but you kill him. its a shame.

          • avatar RobStuff says:

You are amazing.I mean that in the sense of how can you defend this dude and say he is better than woodhead or washington?Surely you can’t be basing this off of this preseason?Right NOW he has ZERO explosiveness.Dude has been playing like a straight up bum and doesn’t deserve a spot on the team.

  4. avatar MBI says:

Can this team really only carry two RB’s?

  5. avatar jvsvn says:

Tanny’s biggest swing and miss so far? Um … Gholston.

  6. avatar juunit says:

    Hello Oliver McDonald$.

  7. You can’t argue that McKnight did not look at all NFL ready this pre-season. I mean what did he show us besides that nice punt return in Carolina, that he can cough up the ball? He was outperformed by both Woodhead and CERTAINLY Chauncey Washington, therefore he doesn’t DESERVE to make the team. However, we wasted a 4th round draft choice and had high hopes for this kid so there is no way we can just cut him after 4 pre-season games. Believe me I do not think that McKnight will be any good at the NFL level but as an organization we can’t give up on him until at least next pre-season. If he shows little to no improvement between now and next pre-season, then we officially wasted that 4th round pick and Leon on this guy

    • How did Washington outperform him running for a hard 4 yards? Mcknight does the same exact thing ! He had that one bad game ! Ever since then he has contributed besides his fumbles. Get out of here you Money Mcknight bashers dont have a leg to stand on.

      • avatar PSuLking says:

One bad game? Dude, you’re out of your mind. He fumbles on over 12% of his carries, that’s horrific. He’s contributed on offense so far… MINUS SEVEN POINTS. He was outplayed by Woodhead for sure, look at last night’s game! His longest run was 11 yards and that was on a hole you could drive a truck through. He’s completely out of shape and quite frankly doesn’t look like he gives a crap about being on this team. He was the talk of the town coming in and just barely made the team!

Turn up the gas on that lantern, because you obviously can’t see ****…

      • Give me a break, you mean to tell me that “Joe Money” as you McKnight lovers call him played better than Chauncey this pre-season? psh

      • avatar Led says:

McNight has rushed 38 times for a 2.7 yd average with 4 fumbles. He was far more attempts than any other RB. He’s gotten his chances.

Washington has rushed 20 times for 3.8 yard average with 1 fumble. More than a yard per carry better.

      • avatar juunit says:

That last game was his best game where he averaged 3 yards a carry. In all the other games he was averaging even less, closer to 2.5 yards a carry. Get off your knees, wipe your mouth, and give up on McDonald$ because he is only going to disappoint you.

        • avatar Your Name says:

Get your head out of your a$$ and stop blindly bashing people.

          • avatar juunit says:

OK “Your Name” I’ll stop blindly bashing people. But seeing how I haven’t done any blind bashing, I’m not stopping s***. He averaged 2.7 YAC all preseason long, he sucked. When you can actually come up with some evidence to show he doesn’t suck, I’m all ears… because apparently I’m blind.

  8. Just play him on ST. He did ok as a kick/punt returner….

  9. avatar kleckofan says:

I have to agree with the decision. As I said about McKnight in the past; lost and with a bad attitude is no recipe for success. Since OTA’s the kid’s been a mess. Yeah, he fumbled, but my biggest criticism is that he looks like he runs scared. Even on his long punt return (which had nothing to do with great athleticism, no one in the first wave of coverage touched him)he should have taken it to the house but managed to cut back into contact. Maybe years down the line he’ll mature, but I doubt it. Pete Carroll passed on him for a reason.

  10. avatar jvsvn says:

I’m not a Gholston hater, In fact, I’m actually a Gholston supporter. I’m glad he’s a Jet right now. But to get a guy who is “contributing” with the #6 pick is a miss. Gholston is young. He still has time to turn it around and I hope he does. But unless and until he becomes a long term solid starter (and I’m not even saying a pro-bowler – just a solid starter) then he has to be considered a miss as a #6 pick.

  11. avatar Tim says:

Stat line for Joe McKnight preaseason: 38 Carries for 103 yards. 2.7 YPC and 3 fumbles no TDs

  12. avatar Matt C says:

Too bad McKnight will cost C. Washington a roster spot. Unlike, McKnight, Washington earned a spot on this team.
    Shame.

  13. avatar Matt C says:

Who would you rather see in the final RB spot; Woodehead or Washington?

Personally I like Washington, he is a bit of a bruiser…..ala Shonn Greene. Woodehad is more versatile, though.

I am interested to see what the group thinks!

    Go Jets

  14. avatar BumpSetSpike says:

What is the status of Chauncey Washington as far as making the team? He was very impressive in the way he hit the hole and ran hard. He also showed good effort in recovering the fumble yesterday and on Special teams. I still recall his crushing tackle that caused a fumble the other game. I sure hope he makes the team. With a ground & pound attack, we can definitely use him.

  15. avatar neauone says:

This is a motivational tool. A smack in the face of an otherwise talented football player. Rex envisioned McKnight replacing L.W. and McKnight has done nothing to prove his 4th round selection. Let him sit, let him stew, let him squirm. Maybe then the real McKnight will show up and ready to play and to prove to the Jets that they didn’t make a mistake with him. McKnight is on the clock, not just now, but next

  16. avatar neauone says:

    CONT. next draft as well.

  17. avatar JetsFan65 says:

No McKnight probably didn’t out perform Chauncey but McKight has a lot more potential and the jets have a lot more invested in him.

Also, i understand that Mcknight fumbled and struggled and all that but he had to really big punt returns in the little amount of tries that he got due to that little #15 guy getting most of the returns.

Mcknight should be our starting punt returner!!!!

  18. avatar tish says:

Wasn’t this kid indorsed by Sanchez? There goes his scouting career

  19. avatar Matty C says:

On its own merit, I didn’t hate the pick when they made it. It’s certainly not the worst 4th round pick a team could make (remember Anthony Schlegel?). However, expecting him to automatically be able to fill Leon’s shoes was a gross misjudgement. Not sure if the team actually ever came out and said that, but everyone seemed to think JM would fill LW’s role and I never saw that happening. I feel bad for Leon because I think the Seahawks are going to blow this year, but he’s going to make a huge impact on that team. I bet he’s the feature back by week 4.

  20. avatar firstdown77 says:

F*** McKnight. Can’t stand him!! (Based on Hard Knocks + Preseason + TJB Posts)

  21. avatar BigKatFan says:

cut him. maybe the lions can find a use for him

  22. avatar NamVetJet says:

Don’t know if this has been asked but: This means he takes up a roster spot but won’t play unless they see improvement in the future?

  23. avatar Wesleywalker says:

Need I mention clarett. Mcfumble reminds me of him. Great potential. Remember Denver cut that bum 3rd round pick and moved on. We should do the same!

  24. avatar ziggyd says:

the only bubble players that stepped up last night were Washington, Kruehl, and Woodhead (special teams)…feel alot better about our QB depth

  25. You’ll are nothing but hot air…I agree with Rex,play like a mess and you dont wear the Green…grow NFL conjones and your on..
