Deion Branch, went the sulky route after the Patriots playoff loss to the Jets. When asked about his feelings about the game, Branch called some of the Jets players classless.
Patriots receiver Deion Branch was asked following the game if he was embarrassed by the loss. His answer: “I’m not embarrassed, I’m just frustrated. The embarrassing part came from a few classless guys [on the Jets] after the game. There were a lot of classless things that went on after the game ended.’’
When asked what he was referring to, Branch answered, “Didn’t you see it? You’ve got to go back and watch it. Pretty classless stuff.’’
… When asked if he was one of them Branch said, “I’m a champion. I’m always going to congratulate guys. They beat us today. The ones with class, I shook their hands. And the ones that didn’t, I didn’t (shake their hands). You can tell they’re not used to being in this position.’’
So last year’s AFC Championship game was … what … for fun?

Hey Branch, enjoy the rest of the playoffs from your couch. Pass the tissues.
-
-
awww are wittle deion bwanch’s feewings hurt?
Gee, celebrating on someone else’s field… like the Patriots did to the Chargers in 08? I understand Branch wasn’t on the team at that point, but the point still stands.
-
cry baby!! i mean one could understand. after all he did just get kicked in the teeth
-
OMG, what a sore loser, the Jets ddi nothing that was classless, maybe Scott( I love this guy btw) went a little over the top when he took shots at BB, but nothing seemed over the top. This guy needs to shut up, he’s a product of Brady as is Welker and this guy’s opinion doesn’t count for ****. We’re moving on and he’s going home
-
This is the same guy that was trash talking with the Jets sideline when his team was down by 14 in the fourth quarter.
Coming from someone that has been in this position before (granted, not in the last half-decade), I would have thought that he would have been more concerned with bringing his team back, rather than jawing with the Jets.
If we’re classless, he is just an idiot.
-
Yeah, his current organization is the epitome of class. GIVE ME A BREAK! Stop crying.
-
new york hates boston we did the right thing.all is accepted.
-
the best part of the game was when the whole team did the fly boy!
-
HA! Just shows what a pansy he is. Psh.
*J-E-T-S
JETS JETS JETS -
Coming from the guy who was jawing AT OUR HEAD COACH during the game, while his team was down…while he was playing poorly.
-
Oh, and while we’re on the subject of crybabies, here’s something everyone should read
-
Was Branch on that Pats team that was doing the “lights out” dance in San Diego after the game a few years ago?
not to mention his jawing at lowery after his first catch yesterday
-
The class of the New England Patriots.
-
-
This coming from the guy who taunted our coach during the game. Also nothing made me happier than WES WELKER CRYING AFTER THE GAME.
-
i love all the waaaah coming out of NE today.
-
Haha sorry branch you cant call the classless card here, you taunted our sidelines after a first down! And your team was down by 14 at the time, but were not allowed to celebrate after a victory? Ha like Tom terrific wouldn’t have been dancing all over the field if the patsies won. Go Jets ! Two more wins let’s get it
-
kind of funny how Branch’s two teams (seahawks and Pats) were both eliminated within hours of each other.
-
Class…this is football son, not Congress. Football is about respect, and the Patsies don’t respect sht. Well Deion, you can class your way all throughout the offseason. The JETS have football game to worry about.
-
Ironically, Deion Branch’s comments were CLASSLESS. “Im a champion and I’ll always congratulate guys.” You havent been a champion since 2004 and you havent even sniffed a chance to become a champion again because Belicheat ran you out of NE cause you wanted to get paid.
I guess Running up scores, taunting the Chargers and their fans in 2006 after beating a 14-2 team on the road (hmm that sounds familiar, the JETS did that last night) and Cheating to win championships is the Classy way to do business
-
Another person calling the Jets “classless?” Get in line Deion. Who cares?
-
class is overrated. no remembers a classy or unclassy winner. they just remember that you won.
-
I will be the contrarian here. I wish the Jets had acted with a bit more class. Not that it will stop me from enjoying a fantastic victory but I could have done without the wild celebration while the game was still in progress. After the game is the time for that, within reason.
-
I will forever remember Rex running onto the field to celebrate with his players, his buddies. I loved every bit of it.
This game was such an impact in so many ways.
-
Yeah, I would have waited another minute. As Jets fans this season, we know all too well that 2 minutes left is an eternity. Just ask Giants fans after that Philly debacle.
-
ill take the celebration any day – even the announcers were saying if there was ever a time to celebrate during the game, and take the 15 yard penalty..that was the time.
Shonn Greene’s celebration with the shushing of the crowd and going to sleep was priceless.

Yeah, the Pats showed a lot of class after upsetting the Chargers in 06. BTW, Sanchez is ONE ROAD PLAYOFF WIN AWAY FROM HAVING THE MOST ROAD PLAYOFF WINS IN THE HISTORY OF THE NFL. And the dude is only in his second year. Joe B is right, Sanchez may not put up the sexy numbers but he has to be given the same respect as Matty Ice and Flacco. As a Met fan this hurts saying this, but Sanchez reminds me of Derek Jeter. Both got no love early in their career but are clutch in the postseason and when it counts the most.
-
He deserves more respect than Matt Ryan or Flacco – Ryan hasn’t won anything, and Flacco has been inconsistent in the playoffs. Sanchez may have made some bad THROWS (especially last week), but how many bad DECISIONS has he made in the playoffs, compared to Ryan/Flacco?
I mean that pick Matty “Ice” threw right before halftime? Sanchez would’ve been absolutely crucified for that.
-
I really think that all of those games where Sanchez threw 3,4,5 picks per game in the past really has slowly changed his approach. It’s paying dividends now.
-
-
-
Yeeeah but it’s totally cool to run up the score on someone and taunt their sideline the whole time….
Orrr yell at the other team’s coach after catching a 6 yard out pattern trailing by double digits in the 4th quarter…
STFU Branch. Have a nice offseason, and maybe suggest a haircut for your QB.
-
The Patriots Mpcled us when they beat us earlier in the season! Is thhat class? No, so I don’t care that we did backflips, laid down in the end zone, and did Jet Planes around their stadium. I really don’t.
GO JETS!!!-
*Mocked* stupid IPad!
-
-
After the double move that Branch tried to put on Revis, where Revis was inside his uniform, I guess he got a little frustrated.
-
It was like Branch was running around with a mirror… That was sick.
-
-
btw, where the heck are all the woodhead fan boys? that little turd didnt do squat!
in tanny i trust!
-
Class in the NFL? What a farce.
How about running the score and letting Brady play the entire game in that 45-3 rout last time they played, rubbing it in the faces of the Jet players, letting all Jet players and fans know who OWNED them that game? Was that in any way ‘modest’ or filled with ‘class’?
Well, last week, when it counted in the playoffs, it seems the Pats couldn’t replicate that feat, and now he’s [and Pat nation] upset about it.Most unfortunate — live by the sword, die by the sword.
-
A lot of satisfying things about yesterday including reading the in game emails from those experts at Football Outsiders. Maybe someday these guys will figure out that football isn’t just about their statistics.
-
what a clown
-
That bootleg Wesley Snipes looking Branch is right! You’re only classy to mimic the soaring like a plane Jets celebration during the regular season when your team was running up the score. Did you see that? Jets players should definitely go back to the tape to see that. Matter of fact I’m sure the Pats have it on tape. This way the Jets can learn a thing or 2 on how to creat a wall along the sidelines the proper way and how to be ‘Classy’ when taunting the losing team. Jets got a ways to go on learning how to be a proper douche team. Thanks for the insight Branch.
-
F _ _ K Deion Branch, Brady and the Partiots!!!
Nuff Said on them! They are DONE!!!!
-
I’m not expecting much trash talking this week before the Steelers game. Instead, I think we will see the Jets speak with confidence and with a lot of respect for the Steelers.
We don’t hate the Steelers; we just intend to beat them.
-
I agree with this. I’m not a fan of Big Ben’s nightlife activities, but I have a lot of respect for the Steelers organization and ownership. I think the Jets coaching staff and players feel the same way. I don’t think the coaching staff likes or respects the way the Patriots go about their business. Westhoff, in particular, appears to loathe Belichick.
-
-
Just get ready to hear it from the Steeler fans and their terrible tampons…..
-
Pats Fan here. I posted several times here over te last two weeks, mostly in response to cheating comments, which I think are silly.
I’m here to give my congratulations to the Jets for a terrific game and their fans for hanging with them when they at times looked absolutely lousy. In fact, I keep asking myself how they looked so poor at times this season. No matter. they’re in a great position now.
I think Branch sounds a little too much like Tomlinson pouting after a loss. THis classy/classless stuff is for the birds (unless it’s about intent to injure, which is really classless and I didn’t see any of that last night.) The Jets have every right to celebrate a huge road win and the Pats have to be men enough to take it.
Signing off now for a long cold winter.
-
jimijazz –
I have a lot of very good friends who are Pats fans (and a dad!), and one of the things that absolutely disgusted them was the end of the first half when the phony frontrunners in the crowd booed the coach and QB who have brought them 3 championship off the field. As a Jet fan who hates — but respects — your team, that actually irked me a bit.
Thanks for staying classy — we’ll see you next year!
-
JJ: I can’t really say good luck next year, but I can say that I wish you & your fellow classy fans all the best & thanks for adding thoughtful commentary to a great blog.
-
Good post..
-
Thanks for the commends. But last time I checked, I don’t think Tomlinson even had the chance to taunt the Pats when he was a Charger. He was bitter for the way the Pats celebrated throughout the game. Branch on the other hand was apart of the over enthusiastic celebration team during the 45-3 beat down. Bottom line all I have to say is if you dish it you better be able tot take it when it comes right back at you. We can nit pick all day here, BUT see you guys next year as we all can agree the rivalry is alive and well……
-
-
If someone was classless with Bill Belichick or Woodhead I would be upset. But this guy was jawing our bench and deserved what he got
-
Classless? Branch catches a 5 yd throw while his team is down 11 and taunts Rex. If he wanted Rex could have eaten Branch as an appetizer!
-
Ahh, go cry a river Deion Branch.
-
And if anything, Branch SHOULD be embarrassed for dropping that easy pass on the one play where Revis was out. He also should be embarrassed on how badly he got owned when Revis was playing man to man coverage on him
-
Sorry for triple posting, but if anything, Mark Sanchez is sure use to this position. After all, in his first two pro seasons, he has gotten to the AFC champion (in his second one, he’ll win the super bowl). Plus, the stat I love the most:
Sanchez: 3 Brady: 2 -
I loved how after Greene ran it in for a late 4th quarter TD, he waved Good Bye to the Patriot fans, then “went to bed in the end zone with the football as his pillow” :-)
PS – when the Jets were blowing out the Bills on the last game of the season, right near the goal line, they just took the knee a few times to run out the clock and end it. No field goal, no further running attempts. Thats class, not the running up the score like the Patriots do.
PS – I would not boo Belichek if I were a Pats fan, he knows what he’s doing. A play may be a good move, and will probably work over the long run, but every so often doesn’t.
-
what comes to mind when i see those comments by Branch?
SORE LOSER
-
how can he talk… he came back to patriots this season…he’s just ashamed that he lost to a team that can talk the talk and walk the walk
-
Branch was also classless during the game screaming at the Jets sidelines.
HOWEVER, when NE beat us and acted like bafoons, a lot of us were up in arms and really pissed. I wish that every Jet acted with class after the victory, acted like this was just business. I am not totally sure what Branch is referring to, but I am sure there was some gloating and all. The Jets earned victory, they earned the right to walk off the field with that NYJ Swagger, however if it were me I would shake hands with all the other players, walk off the field and say “on to Pitt!”
How did you all feel about Scott’s comments after the game? He was really amped up – but I guess thats just Bart.
-
Scott’s fiercely loyal to his coach. He felt slighted by the media for the way they dismissed the Jets and his rant embodied the “nobody believes in us” mentality that can get this team to the Super Bowl.
-
As hard as it is for me to write (and for you guys to read), Bart Scott is our Rodney Harrison. He’s hated by the other side (and justifiably so), but he provides a necessary attitude and edge to the team. What raises him above Harrison in my view is that he’s got a great sense of humor.
-
Harrison also took steroids and was a cheap-shot artist, neither of which are true for Bart.
-
-
-
-
I guess he dosen’t like the jets flight celebration .
BTW I thought it was sick when the whole sideline came out on the field doing that .
-
i agree that, was cool to watch.
-
-
hey anybody know of a pats blog… so i can trash on their team????
-
That man of all people has no right to say anyone is classless. I have had nothing but respect for anyone on that team because leading up to this game they did nothing to disrespect the jets. I was at the game yesterday and i watch Branch get shut down almost the whole game by Revis then he caught a first down pass when they were down by ten and ran at the Jets sidelines and started screaming at them…Then he has the nerve to call our team classless. What a joke just a sore loser.
-
I read (into) his whining this way – Even though the Jets just KICKED OUR BUTTS, we’re still the “better”, more “professional” team.
But the way he and the Pats have historically conducted themselves makes this completely laughable.
-
I guess it’s classless to win??? Give me a break branch, your not a champion! Champs don’t get shut down all game and celebrate after a 4 yard catch! They also don’t drop big catches on 4th and 13!! If you ask me the Greene td celebration was the greatest celebration ever!! Classless is passing the ball on 1st down when your up 45-3 with 6 min left in a game. Your team should have never ran the score up on the jets!! Funny how pats fan who are “full of class” hibernate after a loss!!! Cry me a river! And after you do that swim by and get me a gat dang snack!!!
-
The last time Branch was on a team that won a playoff game Sanchez was a senior in high school.
-
It is awfully lonely on Revis Island!
-
tedy bruschi….one of “their own” says branch wrong.
from his article on espnboston.com….
After the game, receiver Deion Branch talked about some of the Jets showing a lack of class. I’m not with him on this one. I’m sure he felt terribly about the loss, but I think if the Patriots had won this game, they’d have had a similar reaction at the end of the game.
In playoff games like this, whether it’s against the Colts, Chargers or Jets, there is always a lot of trash talk on the field. It could come from Brady, Vince Wilfork. I was involved with it many times. It happens on the field. Emotions are flying; things are said; and, after you win a game like this, you celebrate. In the playoffs, everything is magnified.
In 2006, when we beat the San Diego Chargers, players stood on the logo and did Shawne Merriman’s “Lights Out” dance. In the 45-3 victory over the Jets in the regular season, Patriots players were celebrating by doing the “Jet” around the field with their arms outstretched. So to see the Jets fly their Jets around the field and in the end zone, and Shonn Greene use the football as a pillow because he was putting the Patriots to sleep, that’s what you should have expected to see. It was a knockout blow. The game was over. Rex Ryan was right when he said it was the second biggest game in the Jets’ franchise history. They deserved to celebrate. It’s all within the game, but it’s more magnified when it ends a team’s season.
…..
branch was the one barking at our bench DOWN 10 WITH 9 MINUTES LEFT IN THE GAME, after he made a catch at the 50 or so.
mr “homecoming” didnt forget how to be a whiner when he was in seattle i guess. -
and just heard on espn radio that scotts rant came RIGHT AFTER branch and him had a few words on the field…
scott was doing the jet airplane and branch wasnt happy
sal palontonio or however u spell it is at jets camp today and said on the air just now that his timing was perfect, he waited until scott and branch were done and then went up to scott…
said he didnt need to say much, he knew scott was amped!!
-
Hmm, I wonder if Belichick should bench him for the first series first game next season…The man is in serious denial!
-
listening to weei radio online…
they saying branch a tool for whining…
‘you sound like LT back in san diego, hey you win the game you get to celebrate. and you were the guy barking at the jets sidelines down 11 with 9 min left’
love it…boston guys ragging on branch
-
LOL I love it… people need to realize this is football not golf we can talk all the sh** we want as long as we back it up which so far were doing
-
Deion?
Blah? .. Blah? Blah?
oh really?
Blan Blah …
seriously? they did what? wellBLAH !!

-
