Bent:
THIRTEEN (13) catches TOTAL in 2010 is just plain stupid, incredible
Bent, one interesting (and telling, i think)stat would be yards allowed per catch by each player.
Do you know??
-
Bent:
Thanks for the stat but you don’t have to explain it.
I believe the facts are:
A)He was directly covering that WR and that’s why he it is part of that stat.
B) Revis had twice as many inc’s because he was thrown at more than twice as much as Aso.
C) Keep in mind Aso had more than double % wise of takles as Revis!!!
-
Revis is unquestionably better than Aso, so I’m not sure what you’re trying to say here.

What is your point Hank

I think it also shows how the Jets strategy is to sometimes dare the opponent to throw to Revis’ side.
On another note, I watched the NFL network’s “sounds of the game” rebroadcast of the Thanksgiving Jets/Bengals game last night. Two observations: Cro was pretty physical in the small amount of film, and Ocho Cinco looks really bad on a few plays… I am not interested in him at all
-
I think Cro got up for that game, and stepped his game up. With all the trash talking between Revis/Cro & Ocho/TO during the season.

Those people are just ignorant to what The Jets do. Aso only being able to play one side is a WEAKNESS. Revis plays all over and is almost ALWAYS on the Number 1. Champ was great but is in decline. Champ even said he has to pass it off to Revis that he’s the new Number 1. I would love to have Aso on the Jets just to prove who would have the better season on the same D. haha.

Aso looks Texans bound.

Nobody knows anyting right now!!!-
Thats a fact,lol!
-
Yeah, but they really need Aso pretty badly.
-
That means they don’t go after Cro, and they’re probably going to be one of the biggest suitors for Cro if they can’t get Aso.
Look, I would love Aso, but I’d rather have Cro for a lot less money and upgrade elsewhere. The CB’s weren’t the problem last year, it was the front seven. For instance, do Matt Roth & Cro combine to make the defense better than Aso does alone? I think they might, given the gaping hole in the outside pass rush. Revis & Cro, with an improved Wilson & Daniels (sounds like a bad 70s cop tv show) and Coleman in there they should be perfectly capable of shutting down opposing WR cores, IF they can get a pass rush. Roth would at least be a huge upgrade on the edge over Thomas or Taylor, if he returns.

Guys if Aso can only play on one side and the jets like to move there CB what do we do with him when Revis have to move to cover the best WR?
-
They could both stay on their own sides since they could both dominate number ones. Rex could get so creative with them

You are right we don’t need aso. It would be a waste. We need to put pressure on the qb-
+1000!
-
-
The only advantage, but I don’t think that it would be worth the money, is with those two CBS shutting down their respective areas. We will have more resources to clog the intermediate zone and still blitz effectively with mixing in Zone blitzes.
It would serve the same objective to just resign cro and pick up a cover safety. But again, the money has to be looked at. I would think that the latter is cheaper.
-
Don’t forget the Jets’ poor pass rush makes Revis’ job even more difficult. I don’t know if there is an official stat for how much time a defense allows QBs to throw, on average, but have to believe the Jets would be near the bottom. Revis has to hold his coverage longer, making his stats even more amazing.
-
Good point.
-
The Jets are relatively “poor” at sacking the QB, not at applying pressure on the QB. Rex’s defense employs exotic blitzes that are meant to direct teams to pass Revis’ way by giving the QB as little time as possible to identify other targets. I want a real rush backer because I want more QB sacks and fewer defensive players involved in the blitzes, but I think that the Jets’ defense does a very good job at limiting the time of the opposing QB.
-
Not sure on that one as I have seen too many qbs surveying the field with alot of time. Then again, I am never satisfied, lol.
-
-
not true at all, opposing offenses run a lot of short routes b/c everyone in the stadium knows the blitz is comeing

You right Cro will be less money Pool show that he can play with his performance in the playoffs. With our 1st two draft pick hope the D-line will play better. I’m not a big fan of Pace let’s just hope he don’t get hurt or get busted for performance drugs so he can play 20 games this year. It wound be better if its 19 games.
-
It is so uncertain with all the FAs that we have and just one major FA who leaves can affect in a big way, how we proceed with the rest. To complicate things further, we have no CBA. I believe like you, that if we sign Cro we will be ok, but still would like a covering safety. Again, it all depends on how it all plays out.

i’m amazed so many balls went Bailey’s way – considering any ground attack could run all over the broncos D all game long

Initially you would assume Aso is the best but its easier to stay away from Aso, because the raiders Defense is a joke. With Revis you have to take the chance just because you dont have alot of options. But if Revis got thrown at 2 times a game his average would be lower than Aso’s.
