Jets at Raiders – Recap
This was a painful game to watch and is one that is nearly as painful to recap. With the game tied 17-17 going into halftime, it was easy to ignore how quickly the Raiders were able to score at the end of the 1st half. As the game slipped away, it got harder and harder to look at. However, as there were a few bright spots, let’s start with the positives.
Kerley and McKnight
On special teams, Jeremy Kerley and Joe McKnight had very good games. McKnight returned the Raiders’ final kickoff 50 yards to give the Jets the opportunity to attempt a feeble comeback drive with under two minutes left in the game. Kerley averaged 20 yards on his four punt returns, with an enormous 53-yard one to the Raiders’ 24 that was erased by Sanchez’s very costly interception.
Passing
Despite what it may have seemed, when Sanchez was able to get the ball off, the passing game worked well. Plaxico Burress and Derrick Mason finally got involved, with Mason picking up 45 yards and Burress grabbing 55 yards and a touchdown. On the other hand, Santonio Holmes seemed to have disappeared, and was only targeted twice with one reception for 19 yards. LaDainian Tomlinson led the team in receiving with 116 yards on 5 receptions. Overall, Sanchez threw for a career-high 369 yards, receiving a 96.0 quarterback rating.
This is where the positivity ends. There were a lot of costly drops among the receivers, especially in the end zone. Though Sanchez only threw a single interception, it was an incredibly costly one, occurring in the Raiders’ end zone and negating the possibility of a bigger Jets lead. The offensive line showed its fatigue in the 2nd half, giving up four sacks and a whole lot more pressures, leading to dump-off passes on 3rd downs. The Jets were 6 for 14 on 3rd downs, partly due to Schottenheimer’s playcalling, but partly due to the pressure Sanchez was seeing.
Rushing
Again, let’s start with the positives. Shonne Greene saw an uptick in his production today, running for 59 yards on 15 carries. Considering how easily he was able to break free when the Jets ran to the outside, it was strange to see him run it up the middle so often. Tomlinson had 38 rushing yards, but he only carried the ball six times, one more time than he was targeted as a receiver.
Defense
As much as the offense struggled, the defense was disastrous. It’s easy to pick on Antonio Cromartie, who was flagged four times, twice for holding and twice for passing interference. Each of those calls extended a Raiders drive. However, the officiating was a bit suspect on some of those calls, especially the first hold, when it didn’t look the receiver was touched. Blaming the officiating doesn’t make up for Cromartie’s fumbled kickoff, which gave the Raiders incredible field position that they turned into 7 points.
Like I said, it’s easy to pick on him. More to blame, though, is the Jets run defense. Oakland racked up a total of 234 rushing yards today, with 171 of those yards coming from Darren McFadden. Even if you want to claim that McFadden’s 70 yard run was the result of blown holding calls by the refs, that doesn’t excuse the Jets for letting him run 101 yards on 18 other carries.
The pass defense, while better, was less than spectacular. Campbell was only tackled once and was rarely pressured. The Jets were certainly prepared for the long pass (Campbell’s longest throw was 28 yards), but they gave up far too many short passes for 1st downs.
We can all pile on Schottenheimer and Mark for the anemic offensive production and the porous, Mangold-free offensive line, but the Jets still scored 24 points and missed scoring 31 by about a yard. When Cromartie fumbled the ball, the Raiders picked it up at the Jets’ 13 yard. Were the run defense playing it’s best, they would have recovered and held the Raiders there, instead of giving up two quick runs for a touchdown. The Jets defense needed to keep the team in the game and they simply didn’t do that.
However, this is not the end of the world. The Jets are 2-1, dead even with the Patriots (though strangely, behind the Bills), and have a lot of work to do before heading over to Baltimore. The best thing they can do right now is put this game behind them and starting thinking about next Sunday.

Horrible game I am speechless this one hurts I can’t believe this Thie is not the Jets I know we better step it up or it’s going to be a long season. I hope Cromartie is not hurt.
-
Excuses don’t fly right now..just terrible heartless play
-
Agreed. We just got whipped. Badly. Whipped like dogs…
No excuses, both sides of the ball. This wasn’t a game, it was a mugging…
-
-
One running back, 19 rushing attempts for 171 yards. That’s 9 yards PER CARRY.
And we laughed at the Pats.
-
right there with you

Meet my friends, they’re named Jack, Jose and Jameson. We meet a few times a year.

Brendan:
Are you inebriated???
-
Getting there.
-
-
-
Are you kidding me. The passing game was good? The receivers caught 14 balls for 110 yards. That’s less than 10 yds per reception for your receivers. That terrible. The passing game was bad. You can’t tell me that Holmes is not getting open. The quarterback is missing too many open receivers. Unfortunately we gave up a second round pick and some players for him when we could of stayed in our original draft position and got the second best quarterback of that draft.
-
are you drunk?
-
im giving this over-reaction of the day
-
-
We need a lot of work! Does Sanchez have too many options??? We cant seem to get guys the ball, Why did we get Plax if we dont throw this guy the damn ball!….waiting till the fourth quarter to start getting guys touches is not going to cut it.
Our O-Line is going to cost us many games in the future, we cant run behind it, and sanchez cant throw behind it neither.
-
The score should’ve been 28 – 7 at the half, not 17 up. Just like in the Jacksonville game we are leaving too many points on the field by turning the ball over or kicking field goals because of the inability to score touchdowns.
-
ray lucas is killing sanchez on the post game. i think lucas is just mad sanchez is way more talented than he ever was. i thought sanchez played well today. the offensive line was brutal and he had no time
-
It was a total group hug.
While the OL was playing Olé all game, forcing did in the pre-season, MS stunk as a QB, too! Ray was right on the money.
-
-
Mark Sanchez lost the game.
If he didn’t throw that interception game over up 17 Pts
-
He threw the INT when it was 7-7. The Raiders went three and out and four minutes later, the Jets were on the same exact yard line they were when he threw the pick. They wound up scoring a TD and went up 14-7. Then they even scored again to go up 17-7. They lost four minutes of time in the first Q because of that pick, nothing else. It was completely absolved, and if any argument can be made, it would be that the INT got them going as a team — because the D stepped up and the offense scored twice in a row right after it.
-
-
Are you all kidding? The vaunted Jet defense gave up 34 points!! Cromartie was personlly responsible for two raider touchdowns, one via one of his horrible penalities and the other when he dropped the kickoff on the 15 yd line!! I am not one to say the sky is faling but the flaws here are just too obvious, no pass rush, overated cornerback, undersized and slow safeties and overated running back. We were exposed against Dallas and it shows you how bad Jacksonville truly is.
-
Last year the Jets gave up 40 points to the Pats on national TV and people said they couldn’t overcome those same shortcomings.
I’m not saying all is well, but if there’s one thing this coaching staff has shown in the pass, it’s an ability to identify and address issues.
Must win next week, but it’s still far too early to press the panic button.
-
It’s a long season, and this is still a good team. This was just one VERRY brutal loss. It did, however, put all of the Jets weaknesses that we collectively have been spotlighting since the lockout under a very harsh spotlight.
Mainly that Slauson is no Alan Faneca, and Hunter is no Adrian Clarke, let alone Damian Woody.
-
-
-
I’ve never been a schotty basher til now, but I can’t take the fact that we NEVER run on second down (except the first drive after we went down two touchdowns), and we’ve become a passing team. We have to go back to running the ball. We didn’t run it at all in the second half, even before we got down two touchdowns. Anyone agree?
-
the y need a more diverse run attack. power running is only one element. its not green, lt, or the o line’s fault. when you only run 3 plays it gets a little predictable
-
-
Please explain HOW Sanchez lost the game. On some plays he couldn’t even let the route develop before he seeds to Raiders in his face. NOT playing the refs for the lost (but rather out lack of ability to stop McFadden), but Cromartie couldn’t even play football today without getting flagged.
-
Just a few things that stuck out to them that weren’t mentioned. Eric Smith continues to less a less than average safety and Wayne Hunter at right tackle just does not cut it, they need to go out and sign a yet.
-
Like i said evry jet fan should have ran out and bet their life savings on the raiders after the pats lost. Because noone screws up a golden opportunity like the same ol jets
-
Ironic because once i saw the pats lost the first thing that came to mind was the jets will lose.
-
-
They should ask Sanchez why Holmes only had one catch to see what he’ll say. Either he’s not getting open or he’s missing him. I know the line is bad but that’s not the reason. Against that defense the receivers should’ve gotten more chances than they did and that was not because of the line.
In regards to the line, Hunter is really bad, We have no choice with the center and in reality Slauson is average at best.
Defensive line is made up of overachievers. Gotta give the rookie a chance, he may become a good one but the tackles/ng’s are average at best as are the undersized safties who can’t handle tight ends or make stops against tough runners. We win because of Rex and coaching up (motivating) those guys.
-
I’m not even mad, really haven’t been impressed this entire season. Schotty is a joke, but the O-line hasn’t been good so he’ll continue to get a pass. I’ve been saying Cro is over-rated for a very long time, so his performance today doesn’t upset me. I’m probably one of the biggest homers around, I’ll pick the Jets to beat anyone, any day of the week, but 8 ypc for the Raiders?.. For any team ? That’s pathetic & Rex deserves blame but won’t get any..never does.
We beg teams to beat the Pats for us, and when one does, we give a game away to a team we should beat.
And is it me, or is every secondary we face great ? I know Mark has a couple 300 yard passing games, but a lot of that is to Keller & LT.
I’m hoping for the best, but it doesn’t feel like last season.(I felt we could beat everyone last season)
-
I miss having a dominating o-line. Even when Mangold returns, it’s just not going to be what it was.
-
This simply is not the same caliber O-line we’ve had the last 3,4 years. Saying it’s a top NFL line is just wishful thinking.
It’s currently a line w/2 Pro Bowl players, and a bunch of back-ups. Middle of the pack, at best.
-
-
shotty choked. i thought the first half was on of best ones he ever called. then, as usual, he reverted back to the same predictable playcalling putting the team in horrible down and distance
the refs were horrible too. how does a QB get smacked in the face and there is no flag!? and the roughing the passer on wilkerson, you can not be serious. its not the NBA
-
Check out McFaddens 70 yard run. How did he get to the edge? Defensive lineman was practically tackled, and the cornerback was likewise held for 5-10 yards downfield. If they are going to call ticky tacky holds on the Jets, they should call real ones on the home team too.
-
+1000
Bart Scott was bear hugged and tackled RIGHT AT THE POINT OF ATTACK.
-
-
-
I love how everybody on the other thread (game preview) say that the Jets, after losing to Oakland, have no chance against Baltimore, who lost to the Titans (worst than the Oakland) in week two. We also lost only 10-9 to them, despite getting penalized 14 times for about 140 yards
-
“braylon’s dd”, “Johnnyjetson”, “reality jet fan” and “Shifty” are also the biggest fairweather fans.
-
Please dude, speak for yourself.
-
U can kiss my u kno wat…i bleed green but been watching the same oc do the same crap for years…we have to many weapons to not put up 30 points a game..
-
-
im on this site and contribute almost everyday , you got to be kidding me
-
-
Im confused rex is married to shotty but its not his fault? So woody johnson loves shotty?
-
How is this loss not on the defense?
-
-
Any loss ever been on rex?
-
Yea today, New England Monday Night Massacre, Miami MNF Week 3…its just not ALL on him
What are you even saying?
-
noone ever blames rex!
-
-
Exactly !!!
-
Well I am and just did…they caught with their hand in the cookie jar all day
He is one of the best in the game and Ill go to war with him any day and twice on Tuesday but his defense sucked today
Happy now?
-
-
-
Hey the Jets stunk up the joint on defense today but you have to take it for what its worth…you dont go from a top 5 rush defense year after year to one day we cant stop the run anymore
The Jets did their part in this mess but you cant deny that Run DMC is as a dynamic a RB you’ll find in the NFL and that Oakland has a big strong athletic O line…just because they arent household names or have mega bucks doesnt mean they arent good
-
Also, may someone please explain WHY REVIS WASN’T ON MOORE?
-
Yeah, those 34 yards killed them.
-
Nice one.
-
Just don’t understand blindly shouting and stamping your feet.
Jets defense sucked today, but at least be accurate in what it sucked at.
-
-
-
-
i love rex ryan, hes gonna have the team motivated for a big win next week
-
im bowing again a
like plax after a meaningless td so flatterd
-
-
I don’t think it’s totally on the defense. They did play horribly and deserve some of the credit for the loss. You also have to put some on special teams for the turnover which lead to a touchdown and also some on the offense for leaving points on the field and not scoring when they had opportunities. For instance they threw an interception in the red zone or close to it in the first half when they should’ve scored a touchdown and they should’ve scored another touchdown in the first half but instead ended up with a fg to go up 17 – 7. So yes the defense deserves some of the blame but so does the other two aspects of the game, offense and special teams imo.
-
I don’t think you can say a turnover on the 24 yard line “should’ve scored a touchdown” — and since they scored four minutes later and then went up 17-7 the next quarter — I don’t think that INT had a huge impact on the game.
-
-
Those pass interference and holding calls did.
-
this game is on cromartie and the o-line. cromartie was brutal in ever aspect today and the o-line opened up no holes and gave sanchez no time
-
Wonder how many interviews we’ll see cromartie giving this week. He sure didn’t shy away from the camera last week. Should’ve just stayed in his playbook and in the film session. Maybe that would’ve helped him today. Terrible terrible game!
-
I don’t understand killing Sanchez at all. Yes he had the one awful INT but considering the position he often was in, ie the pocket disintegrating on him, he did well.
At any rate he wasn’t the problem with the offense. It was a combination of A. Bad offensive line B. bad play calling and C. bad rushing.
C can probably be chalked up to A but B … It seems every time they should run, Schottenheimer calls pass and vice versa. The man’s feel for the game is inconsistent at best.
If the O line can’t make holes, can’t protect and the OC is counterintuitive in the worst way, something’s gotta give.
-
Lets call it the hot dog that came back to beat us ,that is where there momentum came from. This one is on rex when you are tied and playing away you punt on 4-2 Rex got desperate and instead of backing them up we open the game for them our defense did do a good job at times but when they caught momentum after they stopped the jets, not even the 85 bears could of stop them.so what we go on to Baltimore and play better.
-
I truly believe the punt on 4th and two with 11 minutes left lost the game. We needed two scores (assuming they didn’t score anything). With 11 minutes left, we either say, we are going to lose this game and punt, or lets try to WIN by going for it.
-
Last year we punted with 6:54 left down against Detroit, down two scores, and we won. The media praised Rex for not panicking and trusting his defense. If you do it with less than 7 mins left, you do it with more than 11 left. You can’t have it both ways.
And besides — it worked! They were in Oak FG range when they punted, and got the ball back exactly 2:20 later. Then they scored a TD 3 mins after that. So they gave up 2:20 but got the TD they needed. They still had over 5 mins left at that point. If they don’t get the first down, they’d be down three scores. Totally worth it. I’d do the same right now.
-
-
-
I have faith in my guys…the Pats are impressive on offense but can’t stop anyone on D. The division and the SB are both very winnable, not to mention that there were quite a few questionable calls in this game that went against Cromartie and the Jets.
-
Fair weather fan? Really? I’ve been a fan since 97 and have had season tickets with my father since 2002.. I go to every single Jets home game and love this team to death.
I’m sick of being called a “fair weather” fan because I criticize my team and get pissed off when they lose. They played pathetic today and I have no problem saying it. The second half was a disaster and we caved in on ourselves. Play-calling, defense, and offensive line play were all atrocious.
I’m also sick of being ripped for ripping on Sanchez. He’s a decent to solid QB, but not an elite one and he never will be. I’m sick of seeing him stare at his receivers before he delivers, and his bonehead plays need to improve before we can get better.
-
Dont defend yourself because you dont root blidly and pretend there as good as rex says they are
-
blindly
-
-
haha shifty u should be banned from the site for putting a year-tag to your love for the Jets. I was born a Jets fan 1991 through family and tradition. and you? You probably just started to like the Jets because we got Parcells. My family has had season tickets since the 60′s and my grandpa was at superbowl III, so you either need to stop hating on our team or just keep shut and let the true fans comment on this site.
You guys all need to have faith it’s one game and we have an excellent team. Bottom line. See u @ Baltimore. Can’t wait.
-
-
Its fustrating to watch a loss like this, but it happens to even the best of them (SEE PATS). Sanchez looks like a dependable QB, and I see 3850 yards and 20 TDs in the cards. Defense schoddy, and I have stated from week 1 to use the no huddle 2nd half. That said, I am not scared for the Pats. Brady threw more picks in one game then Sanchez has all year. Their defense is atrocious, cant stop a nosebleed. Baltimore next week boys, Gang Green will be ready.
-
Is anyone aware that the defense is overrated?
-
How overrated?
They finished 1st and 3rd in defense the past two years???
They arent the 85 Bears or 86 Giants but they are one of the best in the NFL NOW
-
overated by rex like the whole team. I hope u all realize if the d is not the best in the league then we are 8 and 8 or 9 and 7 at best because there is nothing excellent about the rest of the team
-
Ok well I hope you realize that if my aunt had stones she’d be my uncle
-
Almost every team in the NFL that doesnt have Manning or Brady in the past 10 years loses games like this…
Its the salary cap NFL…the difference between the good teams and the bad teams is not all that great…hence the term ANY GIVEN SUNDAY
Hey the Jets sucked today but you nuts completely overreact to one loss as if it somehow proves your point of the Same Ol Jets or “Rex sucks”…
You wait for a bad loss, puff out your chest and then go into hiding after they play winning football like they have for the past two years
-
-
-
not this year
-
-
most annoying poster by a mile. i wish i could block your posts since you provide nothing to this blog.
you’re not even a jets fan. you only show up when the jets are losing. get a life, pal…
-
tell me one defense out their that is playing on a high level how about the philly dream team. The blame here is not the players is the owners what we are witnessing is how the lockout has affected all the teams.Steelers.and Ravens defenses have been rocked this year Seattle beat Arizona Buffalo beat the pats com on I dont see anybody winning more the 12-13 games this year.
-
-
i guess we cant play jax every week?
-
+ cromartie TO did not help I believe that was the nail in the coffin.over anxious always causes mistakes.better now then in December 2-1 is not bad.
-
my only issue with sanchez today was his horrid interception. other than that i thought he played ok.
as for schotty? man, i’m about to join the “fire schotty” crowd. how the f*** can he consistenly allow keller to disappear for such prolonged periods of time??? rex also coached like garbage. i’m sick of us always deferring. we finally take the ball last week and actually score and what do we do this week? kick away! why not try to get up on a young team early. a young team who’s bread and butter is the run. just makes no sense. how about utilizing a max protect when our qb is getting knocked around? just an awful game on all aspects.
ps
more tomlinson please!
-
I see your point but the Jets had a REALLY hard time protecting Sanchez in that 3rd qrt.
What he should do is spread em out in the gun on 2nd or 3rd 7 and 8+ and stop with the long developing play action stuff…the kid is so much better when its just catch and throw
-
-
terrible refs called way to many bs pif calls.
Did we blitz at all this game?
Were the announcers right saying the Jets were out coached on some of the offensive play calls?
-
Love how no respond about how those pass interference/holding calls from Cromartie didn’t kill us. Probably still thinking of some explanation
-
Yes cro sucked today with to many penalties he is not that good which is why tanny went after aso with everything he had
-
And As-O got posterized by Victor Cruz today which brought a smile to my face…
Aso’s best chance was here
-
-
I don’t think anyone disagrees that they were terrible plays that hurt us. What I think everyone feels is that his problems though many weren’t the only reason we lost this game. He had a big hand, and probably the biggest, in the loss as well as others.
-
yeah a couple of those calls were garbage. cro has a rep and the refs are just looking to throw a flag on him. overall, the officiating was pretty terrible. that roughing the passer call was the biggest joke of all.
-
-
i sit on my computer all day making dumb comments because i have no friends to watch the games with :’(
-
You have to do better then that come on man what are u ten years old?
-
-
the offensive line was absolutely attdroisous. wayne hunter seems like a chicken without a head out there. I don’t understand why they left the running game in the 2nd half when it was not great but affective in the 1st. CROmartie was flat out terrible(what’s his injury status?). Schotty, Schotty, Schotty, What can i say about Schotty. Well i’ll start off with the play calling in the 1st half. very affective, the bootleg was working to perfection but alas what Schotty doesn’t understand is that IF THE RUNNING GAME ISN’T WOTKING THE DAMB BOOTLEG DOESN’T WORK!!!!!!! He was driving me nuts with that.
Where the heck was Holmes in the game plan? How do you not draw up plays down the field and when you do call down the field plays WHY MAKE IT SO DAMB OBVIOUS? He was out matched by whoever the Oakland’s DC was. Pitiful, absolutely pitiful.
Another Schotty blunder was why don’t we use the no huddle offense? It seems that when we do use it we score at will. The play calling was horrendous, Schotty was horrendous but it was all his fault. I would say 60% Schotty and the Offensive Line and 30% the Defense and 10% Special Teams.
I hope that Rex beats the heck out of everyone this week and this a part of the schedule where the Jets could possibly end up 2-3. 2-3 is for losers and the Jets are NOT LOSERS. GET IT TOGETHER OR IT’S GOING TO BE A LONG SEASON.
GO JETS
-
my mantra since last week:
TANNY, GET SOME OLINE HELP NOW!!@!
-
the jets are gonna blow out the ravens next weel…u heard it here first
-
We only blow out the jaguars
-
-
I love the fact that it seems that rex and tanny can get and cut anyone they want but shotty they are married too?lol
-
QB RATINGS THIS WEEK:
Sanchez 96
Brady 86
Newton 75.4
Rivers 62
Vick 73.8
Brees 99.6
Rodgers 111.1Sanchez played well enough to win. Our defense never showed up.
-
Amen
-
And the d is on rex!
-
And not a single person said not to blame Rex, fyi.
-
No what he wants is for everyone to call him a fat idiot who licks toes and cant read and will never win a Super Bowl and to hire Bill Cowher…
Thats what will appease this nutbar
-
Well if u guys blame rex then man you guys are ez judges
-
See Rex has built up CREDIT with the VAST majority of fans, the organization and people around the NFL…everyone KNOWS he is a good coach and defensive guru…Guys won 4 playoff games and has turned the Jets into a perennial playoff team
So when he has a bad game like he did today, you say “he sucked today” you get over it like a man, dont whine like a little girl over and over again and get ready for next week…
The guy aint going ANYWHERE ANYTIME SOON…just try to enjoy a little of the season
-
-
-
And at what point did I say it wasnt…you just want him tarred and feathered and dragged through the street to be burned at the stake
-
-
How many balls were knocked down at the line of scrimmage? How many of those passes including the one to plax on 4th down were off target? How much yardage did the wide receivers have? Should they have had more? How often were wide receivers or tight ends open down field when many of those dink and dunk screen and quick slant passes were being completed? You win by completing passes to your wideouts not by screening all day to your backs. LT had more receiving yardage (thanks to the 74 yarder) than all of the wide outs combined. He is not hitting the open receivers down field. And no he wasn’t under any pressure in the first half. He hasn’t done this all year.
-
-
I’ve been saying it since Favre was the QB.
FIRE SCHOTTY!!!
For 4 years now, and every time we loose it’s because of Schotty
-
There just not a superbowl team isnt that obvious when u watch them?
-
ITS WEEK 3…the Packers were 3-3 last season after 6 weeks!!!!
You dont know who a Super Bowl contender is yet!!!!!!!
Jesus Christ why do you even bother watching the team???
-
+1
-
-
-
Then our genious head coach and gm should fire shotty right?
-
If this is the same eddie then i hope your dog is doing well bud
-
You SUCK as a Jet fan
-
I know
-
Hope all is well eddie u take care bud
-
-
-
i say the same things over and over because everyone ignores what i say :’(
-
A lil better but you need your own act?
-
-
U “fans” are pathetic
-
Sanchez throw it away….. Killed momentum after Kerley return, fans got back I’n the game…
-
so one play in the 3rd quater was the reason we lost?? lol gtfo
-
3rd Q? That was the first quarter. The score was 7-7 when Kerley had that return. The next play he threw the INT. Following that INT:
Oak 3 and out
Jets TD drive
Oak missed FG
Jets drive to 2 and kick FG17 mins after the INT — Jets up 17-7
So yeah, that INT really invigorated the Raiders and killed our momentum. I hate when haters revise history,
-
-
With all those great Hands I’n our WR shotty u suck
-
People actually still have friends WOW
I’m getting old I have a wife and a kid -
for all you sanchez haters the man is 24 years old the kid played his heart out. at the end I thought he was going to get killed but just missed the TD to maybe go for the onside kick how many QBs would of packed it in he kept playing he will only get better since coming out of college this kid has been givin the pressure of having to win a SB. with a coach who has put a target on their backs and with all his bad games he has been to 2 AFC games and maybe the SB if the jets stop Pits.just relax guys things will be fine at least they are better then 07-08-06-0-5and so on.plus the pats lost today also and I dont think buffalo will go 16-0 alot of teams are still rusty chillllll to be honest it was Cro fumble that put the game out of reach Sanchez would of won that game.
-
Go ahead and name them all buddy!!
From 1st to 4rth -
No, we didn’t play very well but I think everyone is over reacting. Two things lost us that game. The run defense and the Cromartie fumble. Sanchez made one bad mistake but overall he had a pretty good game. We just couldn’t stop the run when we needed to and then the Cromartie fumble was a killer. You’re going to have bad games. Even so, we almost got back into it. Put it behind us and let’s move on.
-
The offensive line looks horrendous and was exposed by the size of the Raiders defensive line.Cro played like crap,Mark Sanchez was under pressure again all night, and get this the Jets couldn’t stop the run!Unbelievable and unforgiveable for a Rex Ryan coached defense…Starting to question if Mark Sanchez or Shonn Greene are long term answers for the Jets offensively…
-
Give me a flight girl and we call it even..
-
could everyone shut up! yall are acting like this is YouTube arguing over stupid sh**! might as well talk about justin bieber because yall acting like little kids.. seriously. we lost today but we got a long way to go. i think we can and will win a superbowl this year! and ill keep thinking it till we have absolutely no chance!
-
We need a better OC..bottom line…he has no flow for the game and is predictable. With all the weapons we have no reason to losea shoot out to the raiders
-
What happened to running the ball to the outside? Looked like Oakland wasn’t going to stop Shonny at all on those outside runs. Didn’t Buffalo have success against Oakland that way? Schotty has his head up his ass. About time for Rex to step in.
-
esmitty needs to get off the field and same with BThomas……..i cant watch them anymore..
-
and lets be honest …some of those calls were horrendous….atleast 2 of the calls on CRO were complete BS…and the roughing the passer call was a complete and utter joke…and was there really no holding on the 70 yard McFadden run?? i saw atleast 2 holds on that play..Bart got ripped down….PLEASE BENCH SMITTY……POOOL IS BETTER…WE ALL KNOW IT….
-
“Considering how easily he was able to break free when the Jets ran to the outside, it was strange to see him run it up the middle so often.”
blew my mind. don’t understand why we kept giving Shonn the rock up the middle behind a rookie center making his first career start. terrible. SG has got talent but when you keep setting him up for failure it just blows our whole “ground and pound” style out the window.
-
and would it be possible if Schotty can call a run play that isnt a draw? or how bout the same ridiculous delay run , up the middle for 1 yard…ive seen it maybe 15 times already this season…..and can Ducasse ready be much worse than Hunter? i sure hope thats not the case
-
O line played terrible, the defense miss tackles all night. Shotty to his credit is “still” good ol Shotty. Hopefully this is his last year here. Next year’s draft the Jets have to address the OL or were toast “again”. Just how many more hits can Sanchez endure before he is injured? OL is a joke.
-
Guys you can’t on the one hand blame the offensive line and then on the other hand say Sanchez and Greene suck. I mean, if the line isn’t blocking well how can Sanchez or Greene do their job adequately?
Also, I am so sick and tired of Jets fans blaming offensive coordinators when the offense doesn’t perform well. It used to be Paul Hackett. Now it’s Brian Schottenheimer. I had no issues with the playcalling today. However, I had huge issues with the execution.
That leads me to Sanchez. This is his 3rd season, and IMO, he hasn’t improved a whole lot. He still locks on to his primary read. He still tries to force passes to receivers who aren’t open. Also, because he locks on to guys he misses guys who are open. I saw on a couple of replays today where Santonio Holmes was running free on the SAME SIDE Sanchez was looking, and he never threw him the ball. We gave up a lot to get this kid, but I am beginning to wonder if he’s ever going to justify being the 5th overall pick.
-
we gave the Browns a bag of footballs for Sanchez.
-
-
I wouldve preferred winning today and losing the next two games. Now we just have to win one of the next two. And I hope that Rex tears a new one for this defense so they come to play against BAL.
Also, I think all (offense, def, ST) played horribly. And I think Sanchez and Schotty did better than what I expected with this kind of OL in place. -
Sanchez was awful for the majority of this game…i dont care what the number are… the guy is staring down WRs every single play. if his first read isnt open, hes gonna try to force it in there anyway. and how many times can Sanchez throw to a guy that doenst even have his head turned. ive seen that happen atleast 4 times now. and did Sanchez know tht HOlmes was on the team, and how bout Plax?….did he think he was only allowed to throw the ball to Greene and LT…and was Plax only allowed to see the ball late in the 4th….Sanchez was AWFUL today. the numbers are lieing in this case.
-
in Sanchez defense, he cant look at all his reads in the 1-2 seconds that this horrible offensive line gave him today. they let Jarvis Moss, a first round bust sack Sanchez twice..that’s terrible. im surprised he even threw for 300 and 2 TDs
-
you have a point there.. but even in Jax game, he was locking on to the WRs. especially with those 2 picks……Defense was the real culprit but still
-
no doubt his decision making still isnt to where we all want it to be, but i think its something that can be fixed. he really should have thrown that ball away but he decided to throw and gave them an easy INT. we all have seen him make great throws so we know its there, like that TD to Plax today..i think its a matter of him maturing slow.
-
-
-
-
ESMITTY HAS TO GO…PLEASE. HE WAS HORRENDOUS LAST YEAR AND HORRENDOUS THIS YEAR….I DONT CARE IF HE CAN TACKLE. BTHOMAS IS GOOD AT CERTAIN THINGS.. BUT THE BIG PLAY HE GAVE UP ON THAT FINAL DRIVE PRETTY MUCH SUMS IT UP … THE GUY IS A LIABILITY
-
Back from that cesspool, called Oakland. Lost the game and my voice. We knew they had a good defensive line, so I agree with Tuchman’s recap: why did we run Shonn Green between the tackles. Also, where was Dustin Keller? Where was Santonio? Cromartie looked bad when if left the game, grabbing his ribs. I’m sure his ego’s plenty bruised too.
-
Watched NewBeard at center all day, and gotta say, even at 6’4″, 280 lbs., he looked tiny out there. He was coming up to DLs’ shoulder pads. Looked like your kid brother getting lost in the action. To give him credit, he did really well, considering, in the 1st half, pretty much held his own. But by early in the 2nd, he was just overwhelmed. By that point, it was just a jailbreak on every play…
“You’re gonna need a bigger boat.” We’re gonna need a bigger line next year. Slauson, Vlad, Hunter are nice players but simply do not appear up to the task. Al Davis gave the NFL the template once again. It’s an arms race again on the OL/DL. ‘Huge’ is in.
-
-
sanchez has a broken nose btw
-
Where was Bart Scott and David Harris today? They both were obsolete unreal. The defense looked horrible and I cant handle Schotty’s play calling. I mean Sanchez has to throw that ball away instead of the pick but Schotty is not a good play caller. Still same problems as last year NO PASS RUSH!!! We cant get to the qb for the life of us.. Next we go to the Ravens and then the Pats wow tough road stretch..
-
Well said, Junior. “NO PASS RUSH!”
-
-
ERIC SMITH!!! a total team loss blame could be thrown everywhere, but to me Eric Smith is slow, a decent tackler yes but always a step behind and makes the tackle after a play is made. He also is easily blocked play after play and I’m sick of watching it. No offense but a 5’10 average safety is not gonna cut it for a Rex Ryan defense
-
Sanchez wont get any credit until he puts up a game with 20/20 with 550 yards and 8 Tds 0 ints…
Sure he doesn’t always make the best decisions, sometimes he locks in, sometimes he misses recievers, sometimes he getsflustered in the pocket,… name me one qb that doesn’t.
Rodgers maybe, but the whole team is open most of the time and he too still makes mistakes. Brees he’s accurate but still messes up. Rapist, fumbles half the time he improvises. Brady, most of the time, but he had 4 ints today. What was he looking at on that pick 6…
Sanchez had that bad pick, but that didn’t kill the game it didn’t even change momentum… the momentum changer was the 70 yard run. The nail in the coffin was cros fumble… I have no doubt jets win without that and even with that, if the jets can get a stop and not have calvin paces hold and havebrian Thomas’ crappy coversge, they probably win too…
So yes maybe the jets should score 48 points a game and win everygame, but that’s not the jets and not even the pats, who are built for that can win everygame like that.
But eveerybody saying we lost cause of sanchez’ int and missing one recievers… stfu… the D and cro fumble lost the game…
Would take quite the miracle to give up 230 on the ground and lose to battle -2 and win
-
Not saying he’s any of those qbs, but those qbs mess up too
-
This comment nails it. I fully agree.
-
Agree. Obvious the OL is much weaker, but Baxter played pretty good, so that’s a bright spot. I was also surprised the Raiders seemed to make better adjustments than we did at the half…we’re usually pretty good at that. And I didn’t understand our lack of blitzing all game.
-
-
-
We got pushed around at the line of scrimmage. They were bigger and played smarter and more physically than we did. No pass rush from DL and no protection from OL.
Schotty refuses to run the ball to the outside. Whenever we ran a pitch out or even to the outside in general we picked up big yards. I thought Shonn Greene ran hard and well. We simply CANNOT run up the middle, esp without Mangold while against a big Raider’s front line. We should’ve spread them out more like Buffalo did.
Sanchez’s pick was dumb and painful but other than that he played well.. lots of drops by receivers today and OL was terrible in pass protection as well as run game. Mangold needs to come back asap or we need to sign a veteran center. Matt Slauson, Robbie Felix and Wayne Hunter make up must our OL right now.. it’s arrogant to think we can win with a squad like that. Bill Callahan is not God.
-
Here’s my take:
LT… awesome; keep it up because we need veteran leadership now more than ever!
Defense… what goes up must come down. Last week you were great, phenominal… but everyone has a bad day at the office now and again, so I hope this fuels you to go on a tear next week, you need to step back up.
The Officiating… first let me say, the Jets lost this game not the officials, but I did think Cro got hosed on a few of those PI holding calls… then there was that ridiculous ruffing the passer penelty, are you freaking kidding? Cambell was lightly nudged and that turns into a backbreaker of a call against us at a critical point in the half. A few drives later, where the hell’s the official when Sanchez gets blasted after releasing the ball? I cannot belive how inconsistent and poor NFL officiatng has become over the past few years. It’s ruining the game.
Receivers… all around, we have a great group, lots of talent… but they’re there one minute, invisible the next… their fault, or someone elses..?
Sanchez… simply put, he’s not as good as most of us think he is or want him to be at this point… period! Not saying he wont continue to develop into a solid QB, but right now, he’s not that good, and he’s progressing fast enough for where the current Jets team need him to be.
Schotty… are you F-ing kidding me? You are the ‘Buzz Killington’ of this football team! Year over year, all these weapons, all the potential for greatness and you somehow, like clockwork, consistently steer us right into the ground… Holmes, Burress, Mason, Keller, Kerley, LT, Greene… WTF are you doing?
Rex… time to tighten up the ship, Captain!
Just one man’s opinion
Go Jet’s
-
Rex should now that a rested D is better then a worn out D stop deferring if you win the coin toss play Sanchez also good coaching means learning from your mistakes from my observations of the game Sanchez is lacking confidence a lot of tip balls mental mistakes and over all the team is good not great this year my be 10 wins 6 loss keep it real next year i believe we will be really good.
-
Agreed GDJ… no sense of urgency what-so-ever on the part of our offense down the stretch.
-
Here was a post I put out here before the season started:
September 3, 2011 at 12:38 am
I admire all the jets faithful’s but reality is reality. No way is this team a true contender. Yes, we will win more games than we lose but is our oline better? How is the depth? We have two rookies on the Dline in place of Ellis who was huge last season. We have also lost Taylor and Pryce who with Ellis, accounted for 40 % of our sacks! We still are slow covering the dump offs and short passes in the flat with slow LBs and the speedy JL. I can count forever for the pass rush to get to the opposing qb!
Our offense is worse with a lesser oline and no depth at running back. Sanchez is still inaccurate and has an entire new chemistry to develop with his receivers!
Can you even count on folk to nail a game winner outside of 45 yds?
Please, this team has more questions and holes than swiss cheese! I am not even talking about the depth issues which will be a huge factor in a grueling 16 game season!
I know we hope for the best, but no way in hell are we a top team yet. You will just have to see this for yourselves. I will still hope for the best but to be better than the last year, you have to upgrade significantly and we have not. Plax for BE, no way! Two rookies from small schools for Ellis, Pryce and Taylor, come on!
This is the season when fans finally have had enough of the fatmans hot air!I was hoping that I was wrong but it looks like I wasnt. I have said from the getgo that we are not as good as last season. I just looked at our weaknesses and what prevented us from getting over the hump and the same problems , even more severe as with the oline are still present. I feel management has failed to address these huge issues and holes while spreading the sunshine. I am very disappointed. Reality bites! Yeah, we will get our 9 or 10 wins, and hopefully next year the bulb will go on for the brain trust! It is beyond my imagination how we can have almost 12 DBs and have an oline as thin as it is ! We were all screaming about this well before Mangold got hurt and before the season even started!
-
When you have an oline that folds like it did a Holmes is a non factor! The basics from the inside out was neglected with our oline !
-
I really think Rex is too hung up and obsessed on the D and is clueless on offense. He thinks he is the grand wizzard of defense and dont need a pass rusher or speed to cover the intermediate zone. He thinks he can replace the veterans like Pyrce, Ellis and Taylor and plug rookies right in with no drop off. I am starting to get concerned that he is a little misled on the state of the Defense. He thinks stock piling all these DBs is the answer but the oline and other key areas of the D are being neglected. This is getting frustrating.
-
Alright, I unloaded. Time to reload and see what we can do next week. My only problem with that is the Ravens are a super charged raiders team ! Another fine mess that I will get myself into, lol !
-
After this game…#1. Ducasse should be our starter. He’ll get better with time and we’ll see what we have going into next year’s draft, Hunter will not get better. #2. Joe McKnight should be returning kickoffs from now on. Cro. is too stupid to handle that responsibility. Westhoff failed at that decision for many reasons. #3. Get Kerley involved in the offense, not with the wildcat, as a receiver. Throw deep to him. Look at Denarius Moore? #4. Start Poole and Kyle Wilson. Depending on Cro’s injury, he should be used as a deep safety occasionally, and be locked up on fast receivers ONLY. LASTLY, Oakland is a very good football team and we played them tight for most the game. They lost to Buffalo last week, but Buffalo is a very good football team also. These teams are stacked and both have very good QB’s who make smart decisions.
-
My official fire schottt comment
-
Those bad calls against Cro including that call against Wilkerson extended drives which kept the Raiders in the game. Take away those and this game would have been way different. The Raiders wanted it more and with quite a bit of help from the Refs they got it.
-
blame the lockout no team is playing at a high level pitt, pat, balt.atlanta, philly, saints all the good teams have been bad this year at least lost 1 game to a lesser team. so please relax our team well get better and as for sanchez he threw for 369 yards 2 tds and almost got killed doing it.the raiders were 0-8 on third down but hey mcfadden beat us get over it for a good while we were in control they only passed for 149 yards the cromartie fumble is what lost that game . going for it on 4-2 with the hostile fans going crazy was also a bad decision. The coaches blew this game .lets move on and stop worrying about playoffs in September.every time the Jets loose here comes the fans with their give up attitude Im just as mad but we are not going to 16-0 .lets get ready for the ravens.
-
thank you for a reasonable post.
-
-
the refs were also paid by al davis cause some of those calls were suspect.cro was not that bad other then the fumble.
-
Our receivers are getting open down field , Sanchez just waits to long go throw the ball . I didn’t realize how open these wr’s are until I went to last weeks game . You don’t get to see that when watching the games on tv . I also seen his wr’s getting upset about it also , Burress ripping of his helmet , Holmes throwing hid hands up in disgust and Mason shaking is head . It’s unbelievable , any other good experienced Qb would probably have this offense flying high , just my thoughts . I also believe that our wr’s don’t speak out because Sanchez is Rex’s guy and probably told it is forbidden to talk about their disappointments with their Qb play . Like I said It’s just my thought
-
for all you crybabies out their Sanchez with a terrible Oline has a 63% completion and 865 yards 6 tds in 3 games looks like progress to me.90 qb rating.
-
some of the calls were absolutely horrendous..that call on Wilkerson? seriously? and 2 of those calls on Cro were horrendous. But lets be serious, the problem is the lack of speed in certain positions on the defense. Namely ESmitty, BThomas. please put POOL in the game…and how bout this rookie Ellis, is he ever gonna play? i mean what were we doing with the draft? ellis nothing, powell nothing, ducasse i still havnet seen anytihng from……Rex needs to look at this defense and not just be blinded by his cockiness… there is no way you can be dominate with smitty and thomas …..and even leonard hasnt made a play in forever….unbearable to watch
-
Who is callign the plays for this team?!?!?! We seem to be able to run the ball but instead we let Sanchoke take the reins and throw the ball? Who do we think we are, New England? We have running backs who can run and the supposed strength of the offense is the line. RUN the damn RUN
-
once teams see that sanchez can throw the running game will get better though I fell shonn greene is not a starter but a bruiser he complements another faster runner ,which we should bring in bilal to see what he can do greene is more effective in the 3rd and 4th Qter, and 2nd half of the season.IMO
-
Brutal loss…it’s not the end of the world but we have the same problems every week and every week people tell me I’m wrong about them. Schotty – Good lord you are the worst play caller ever. If something works you can guarantee Schotty won’t come back to it (runs to the outside, sweeps/tosses). Running the ball (up the middle no less) down 14 in the 4th quarter like that?!? Horrible play calling. E Smith – Got played like a fiddle on the td pass in the first half. Always chasing down plays. Liability in coverage. Cromartie had his worst game as a Jet. Got beat deep all game. Where was Keller and Holmes? Schotty has to do better there. Teams will continue to go after Hunter, E Smith. Try to take away Holmes (Sanchez fav target) and Keller (Sanchez’s other fav target). Can’t wait to see how Schotty is defended on this site this week.
-
I MUST RESERVE MY EMOTION, LEST I GET PERSONAL ON HOW MUCH I LOATHE SCHOTTY. HE IS THE WORST. IF NOT THE CAUSE OF SUCH DESPAIR. HE DOES NOT SEE THE GAME AS WE DO. HE HAS NO PLAN. HE DOES NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OTHER TEAMS WEAKNESSES. HE IS NOT A GOOD OC. HE WILL NEVER BE A HC OR OC AGAIN. THIS SEASON BTW WAS LOST LONG AGO WHEN THE OFFENSIVE LINE WAS ALLOWED TO SINK INTO A MUD PIT OF INEFFECTIVENESS. ALAN FANECA’S DISMISSAL WAS THE MOST STUPID MOVE OF TANNENBAUMS CAREER. DAMIEN WOODY SHOULD HAVE BEEN CALLED OUT OF RETIREMENT. REX I LOVE YOU BUT CAN YOU ADMIT YOU ARE WRONG?
-
-
I’m not crying I’m just stating what I saw and my opinion . You have your opinion on Sanchez and u have mine , I’m not saying we lost this game because of him , I’m just not sold on him he leaves a lot if plays out on the field . When he messes up or plays bad he gets a pass. I like the kid but he’s nothing special I think if you put Mcoy , Dalton , Freeman , Bradford or Stafford on this team they would excel maybe even more than your Sanchize.lol…
-
So they should have run more. And passed more. And covered Moore better. I think the sky just fell on my head.
-
STUPID?
O LINE IS BAD.
CANT RUN UP THE MIDDLE?
KEEP RUNNING UP THE MIDDLE (FOR NO GAIN).
CANT PROTECT THE PASSER? KEEP CALLING SLOW DEVELOPING PLAYS THAT TAKE TOO LONG AND EXPOSE QB.
QB OBVIOUSLY HAS ISSUES THROWING DEEP INTO COVERAGE. ONLY CALL PASS PLAYS DEEP INTO COVERAGE. WHERE WERE THE QUICK SLANTS? WHERE IS DAMIEN WOODY AND ALAN FANECA NOW? WHO SAYS OUR O LINE IS GOOD? WHERE IS BRAD SMITH WHEN YOU NEED HIM (ON BUFFALO)? WHO IS CALLING THE PLAYS ON OFFENSE IS KILLING THIS TEAM. AND BLAME THE DEFENSE ? THEY ARE BEING HUNG OUT TO DRY!-
Why are you yelling?
-
I though big letter meant sarcasm!!
-
sorry i am so upset. it is what football is about for me. i live for each game. no other sport does this to me. you dont understand my level of frustration over something i know so much about yet have so little (none) control over.
-
I get that, but a lot of your anger is misguided.
-
-
-
Why the caps? Everyone on here cares about this team, you ranting in all caps to other fans is ludicrous and makes you seem like a little kid who wants to replay the game. Why dont you write the coach a letter and find out where Faneca is. BTW didnt they go to the AFC title game last year without him? BTW as bad as Shotty may or may not be, he knows more about running an offense then you do. Maybe you can include your resume in the letter where you ask about Faneca, and btw id go all caps, let em know you really love this team. GROW UP
-
-
hahaha….nice to see everyone agreeing with me on ESmitty. the guy is absolutely terrible. i do not care that he is a solid tackler. hes always tackling after getting beat. he needs to be on the bench . Pool is a much better safety. terrible
-
Our linebackers look slow as hell also , they looked pathetic out there yesterday every single one of them . What do they run the 40 in the high 5′s
-
BThomas is slow as hell. awful. smitty , leonard, smitty are terrible
-
4.5′s – 4.7′s
-
-
Brad smith has been useless in buffalo.Have any of you guys seen the standings Detroit and Buffalo Raiders, are in first place the NfL is becoming competitive at least the first 3 weeks so its not a give me anymore we have more balance if we beat out our division our chances are great this works to our advantage the pats are not an automatic win anymore .11 games will probably give you HFA this year I really do not see anyone in the afc running away with nothing.
-
Brendan – is that your way of telling me you were wrong about everything you’ve said all weekend?
-
??
I didn’t say anything to you, TK.
And what was I wrong about? The same thing everyone was wrong about. Every fan said the offense would be the reason they lost. It wasn’t. The defense was. So, yes, I was wrong, and so was everyone else.
-
-
Our lack of a pass rush doesn’t help out our safties . But yes I do believe Poole should be out there along with Cooke because I don’t believe Leonard really offers to much , he’s also getting beat most of the time as well . C’Mon Rex put in the more athletic and younger player (Cooke) its time to get them the experience so we can make this d better and bring back Maybin he was the only lb that had some speed
-
My bad my bad. I thought your comment was directed towards mine. The defense let us down. They did. But tell me you weren’t scratching you head on some of those play calls?
-
Not really. Some of them were bad calls, but every coordinator has a few bad calls in a game. I don’t think Schotty’s play calls were the reason this team lost the game. Mental mistakes and the defense lost the game, in my mind.
I think Rex going for it was a poor decision, when they were on the road and it would have given the Jets a chance to take the crowd out of it if they stopped the Raiders O deep in their zone.
Drops, bad throws, etc. were drive killers, but for the most part I didn’t have an issue with the play calls, aside from a handful of plays.
-
-
BTW Where is Westermann? Bent should do a poll. Who will end the year with more sacks – Mo or Westermann.
-
@Brennan no way they run 4.5 – 4.7 and by the way Bryan Thomas is faster than all the other starting lb’s
-
Yes, they do.
Scott is the fastest of the four. There’s no official 40 time that I could find, but Harris ran 4.59 at the combine, Pace ran it in 4.65 at his pro-day and Thomas ran a 4.67.
-
I would trust Harris’ number, but there is no way Thomas at 31 still runs a 4.67. Also didn’t Thomas ran like a 4.5 in the draft which is why we drafted him instead of Ed Reed??
-
I think he ran a 4.5 at the combine, but ran the 4.6′s at his pro-day, or the other way around.
And of course he doesn’t run that same speed today, but that also could be said about every linebacker. You’re not going to be as fast in a game as you are on a track.
I don’t think the speed of the LBers is an issue, was my point.
-
-
-
-
Someone explain to me why on 3-2, after Green just ran over 5 guy’s, that we throw on 3rd and 4th down?? If you know your going for it on 4th why the F wouldn’t you run it on 3rd..
-
Wasn’t that when Greene got drilled and came out of the game (where he got hit by 3 guys, bounced off and got a 5-6 yard gain on 2nd down)?
-
He came out to the game so they could pass…because why even pretend your going to run…he didn’t get hurt (unless i missed something).
-
I remember him getting up very slowly and wobbly, so it made me think he got the wind knocked out of him or something. Also, we’ve killed Schotty already this season for “not running” in this situation and learned it was Sanchez who audibled out of a running play. Not saying that happened this time, but I’ll wait to hear the interviews before deciding who made the mistake.
-
-
-
-
gotta do something about Esmitty and Leonard. everyone loves Jimmy but hes a liability. they are killing us on the back end
-
Wow
-
I still am scratching my head over Schotty passing TWICE on 3rd and 2 and 4th and 2. If we had ran the ball both times we would have gotten the first. Absolutely absurd playcall.
-
at least run on 3rd down to see what happens….funny how it’s very reminicent of the AFC Champ game….in that Shotty hasn’t learned a thing about when to run and when to pass.
-
-
Honestly everyone, look at how hue Jackson responds after a loss. He doesn’t blame officials or bad calls. He takes responsibility. He’s a coach players want to play for. Rex needs to learn a thing or two about responsibility if he wants to improve this jets team.
-
Im amazed at the amount of negative posts after a loss. The team is 2-1 and i have to think after two straight seasons that included alot of ups and downs, both of which ended with the Jets playing for a spot in the Super Bowl this Coach and overall team, would get a pass for a bad day. Oakland played better then the Jets yesterday, after the Jets took a 10 pt lead I thought it was critical to get them off the field quickly, it didnt happen and with that beast kicking the whole game turne. Take it as it is, in this league every week is a new adventure, there are no more “gimmie
-
Aside from a few mistakes the one thing that really had me chomping at the bit was the pass rush… or I should say lack of.

Jets are extremely fortunate not to be 1-2. The offensive line is weak, teams can run on us, and although Sanchez steps it up in 4th quarter, he plays mediocre to terrible during the other 3. He was lucky he didn’t have 2 INTS, he gift wrapped a pass in the end zone to the Raiders during the first half.
