Guys, That video on the Jets web site shows Courtney Upshaw OLB/DE from Alabama. Thats who we need, we need a Pass Rusher like Terell Suggs!!! What do you guys think, will the Jets take him in round 1???

I think we can get a good WR and Safety in later rounds its the pass rusher that needs to be a top pick! We havent had one since John Abraham.
    Thanks,

    • avatar Daniel Krauss says:

The Jets should sign Abraham in FA (he’s going to be cheap) and they should draft 1 of the 3 players:
      1. Trent Richardson (RB Alabama) (if open).
      2. Michael Flloyd(WR Notre Dame)
      3. Whitney Mercilius (DE/OLB Illinois)

      • avatar Booskie24 says:

I don’t think Abraham would come back. He doesn’t like the Jets at all. Says he likes Rex tho, so maybe. But I doubt it because when he ended up bitter when he left. The only thing he ever says about the Jets is “f&$k them”!!

      • avatar JetsFans4GIANTS says:

Floyd would be a great pick for the Jets & will be going around the time they pick in the first round. He has the speed to stretch the field & the height to be a red zone threat. He would immediately make the Jets passing game more versatile & more open.

  2. avatar vinluvr says:

Would love to see Marvin McNutt in a Jets uni. He’s another Cotchery.

  3. avatar Damion says:

well I dont have the NFL network so I can’t see the game. I am glad to see the names of Lavonte David,Doug Martin and Michael Egnew and this list,David is fast and makes plays all over the field, Martin is very underated and would be steal, Egnew would give the jets a second TE who can catch. I am surprised to see Janoris Jenkins on the list could they be shipping out Cromartie? one can only hope.

  4. avatar Pete says:

    No safeties????

    • avatar Tom in Raleigh says:

No good top-flight safeties in this draft.

    • avatar Adam says:

Lavonte Davis (LB)- will be a S in NFL, he is only 6″0 225 pounds, maybe Jets are looking at him to cover New Englands TE’s. Got to stop them before thinking about getting to Super Bowl

Breaking: Jets have made an offer to Karl Dunbar to become new defensive line coach. It’s believed that he’ll accept

This past season, despite the Vikings’ many defensive struggles, Dunbar was in charge of the unit that arguably was the most consistently productive on the team.

Dunbar said Friday he couldn’t diagnose all that went wrong during a disastrous 3-13 season.

“I’m a position coach,” he said. “I’m not a coordinator. I’m not a head coach. When I look at what I did with the Minnesota Vikings, my piece of the puzzle was to make the defensive line play as well as they could.

“We played well against the run. I think we finished No. 11 against the run. And we finished No. 1 in sacks [with 50]. And the guy I coached [Jared Allen] led the league in sacks with 22 on a team that really didn’t have a lead the last eight games of the year. So I thought that was my piece of the puzzle.

trade down….draft as many solid young players as possible…in FA, see if we can get either braylon or J-Co to come back, get a safety, a linebacker or two….and go back to what got us to whooping new englads ass in the playoffs last year….great defense, great running game and solid specials…and rex…reinvent yourself….you are not your “personality”…everybody can change

  7. avatar patd says:

Upshaw will probably go in the top 10. If he falls to 16 the Jets have to take him.

    Upshaw blows Mercilius away.

  8. avatar patd says:

Jim and countless other posters why are you constantly saying the Jets should pick up ex Jet players. Move on. There are much better options.

    • avatar Jeff says:

Well NE picked up Carter and he contributed 10 sacks. Abraham has consistently been one of the best pass rushers in the NFL for the past decade.

Heck if we can just get one guy to generate pressure within 3 seconds of the snap it would be gold! Gold Jerry!

  9. avatar whitefish says:

i agree with tradeing down and we should also lock to trade cro or keller get some picks going to need them patsys N.E ,have alot of picks we most get young a OLB SAFETY,OL,GET WR,in free agent

    • avatar Jeff says:

NE gets teams to consistently trade picks with them. Last time we got a 1st via trade was for Abraham and we got Mangold with that pick. In 2000 we got numerous 1st round picks. They included picks for Belichick and Keyshawn Johnson

  10. avatar Koh says:

The lb David’s a 43 lb he’s as small as a safety they will draft a safety n ORT in mid rounds while they grab an olb PASSRUSHER likeercillis in rd one or Alston Jeffries td one n PASSRUSHER rd 2 those r all late pix

  11. avatar Jeff says:

Again what is with the running backs? I think we are pretty stacked there to be getting just developmental runners. We need a burner in the backfield to at least break a big run for once.

Anyone else tired of seeing our backs “almost” break one? We need someone to be a threat to take it to the house. Hopefully McKnight brings something to the table this season

  12. avatar Omari says:

David is the same size as Maybin and has better pass rush moves uses his hands more. He can bulk up just like Daryl washington from Az did he came in @225 now weighs 240-245

  13. avatar Omari says:

Marvel who do you think has a higher upside Mercilus or Upshaw?

    • avatar mucky moose says:

Forget upside, Upshaw will be a better player

    • avatar Marvel says:

Honestly I don’t like either player that much. I seem to be in the minority, as I’m not really a fan of an of the pass rushers in the 16 range. I’ve watches the Mercilus vids 100 times, and the little I can scrape up of Upshaw, I still see nothing that screams ” can’t pass in this talent”.

If I had to take a pass rusher at 16 I’d probably go with Nick Perry, maybe trade up for Coples (a different type of pass rusher). I’m gonna keep reading/watching.

3rd & long.. Maybin on one side Coples on the other… Sounds good to me.

  14. avatar Damion says:

you can move Lavante David to inside backer…bart scott comes off the feild on 3rd anyway David has the speed to cove TE and back dont worry if somebody says he’s a 4-3 olb he can play in any defense! we can only hope he’s there for us in round2. IS the new D-Line coch a done deal????

  15. avatar Damion says:

OK so early in the week I heard the vikes were ready to part with the number3 overall pick.Any chance they are willing to part ways with jared allen? I would give up the 16th and next yr 1st for Allen.

  16. avatar Steve says:

    Damion, I hope you’re joking.

  17. avatar Steve says:

And what does the number three pick have anything to do with their willigness to let Allen go?

  18. avatar chrisC says:

i want to see harrison smith in a jet jersey

  19. avatar mucky moose says:

Upshaw definately has a bigger upside than Allen

  20. avatar Neauone says:

The best RB in this draft
    Is
    From WV

  21. Jets must take Courtney Upshaw, Melvin Ingram,Nick Perry or Mercilus with #16!! Pass rush ! our DL is set to do dirty work for LB’s , but right now only Harris is getting job done ! Pace is ok ,but not for his contract and B. Thomas is done with that injury !

  22. avatar Damion says:

    No JOKE steve
Allen had 22’5 sacks last season the jets had 40 as a team…need I say more and if there parting with the 3rd overall pick that means full on rebuilding mode and they dont want to have to pay the 3rd overall pick if cash is an issue then I’m sure they are gonna wanna move a guy like Allen if they are gonna get 2 1st rounders. I’m just speculating.

    • avatar Brendan says:

The 3rd overall pick will be cheap, $ is not nearly as big a concern as it used to be with these top 5 or top 10 picks.

  23. avatar Private Jet says:

I don’t see “QB” on that list. Interesting ….

  24. avatar karl hungus says:

Pead looked really good today….very quick through the hole…..

  25. avatar Damion says:

THEY CAN KEEP THE 3RD PICK I WANT JARED ALLEN giving up the 16th pick and next year 1st sounds like a deal to me.

    • avatar JetsFans4GIANTS says:

Be careful of what you ask for. Allen is a 4-3 DE & has never played OLB in a 3-4, & he doesn’t have the size for a DE/DT in a 3-4. Allen is deep in his career & it may be a lot to give up for an unknown. The NFL is filled with 4-3 DEs failing to convert to 3-4 OLBs (with the exception of Mario Williams who has much more talent & is much younger than Allen). The Jets don’t need another veteran in that locker room. They need to build depth & keep their draft picks; they’re not one player away from winning it all. They need a big DT pass rusher in the mold of Wilfork than they need a Jarred Allen. This type of thinking, selling the farm for a successful vet, is what has caused the Mets to be as terrible as they’ve been. In this case, the farm in the NFL is draft picks. Look a the two team’s playing next week & the old saying is true: with the salary cap in the NFL, you build through the draft & supplement through free agency. The Pats have always had high turnover with big players & restocked through the draft. Going into this season, many of you Jets fans were killing the Giants for letting Boss & Smith leave for greener pastures, yet the Giants did well to add depth in anticipation for those losses through prior drafts. Draft picks are very important & are needed for teams to build long term success.

      • avatar tom says:

I dont understand why you have to sit all day and tell jet fans how great the Giants are, and how you “told us so”???? I dont understand why you cant spend your time on your own team’s blogs talking about playing for the Super Bowl. But thats not as much fun as spending all day on a Jet blog, rubbing it in all our faces. You really need to get a life, and its pretty sad that you get more enjoyment when the Jets lose than when the Giants win.

That right there shows the kind of person you are, and the lack of a life that you have. The last 2 years when the Jets were making their run, I didnt spoend 1 minute on a Giant blog, I was too concerned about my own team.

You are the only Giant fan that spends more time on the jets blog than the giants blog!!!LOL, total loser.

      • avatar Jeff says:

        Yes he is troll.

Also the Pats have been lucky with trading their aging stars than anyone in the NFL. Most of their multiple first rounders started out with trading old/mediocre players like Branch and Seymour for picks.

  26. avatar JetsFans4GIANTS says:

I’m a big fan of Gannaway, much more than the 2 backs you have listed above him. I watched a bunch of Baylor games this season & Gannaway has breakaway speed, despite his modest 40 number. If he could be had in the third day, as your projection states, he would be a steal for the Jets. However, I expect after his pro day/combine showing, his draft stock will rise to late 2nd early 3rd. Nevertheless, he would be a good pick for the Jets regardless of where he is taken & would be a good pick to push Greene to perform & if he continues to disappoint, to take his job. The Jets already have their change of pace guy in McKnight who I would love to see get more touches out of the back field next year. As a side note, I can’t believe I’m saying something good about the Jets, but I won’t believe it until I see it. Mr. T hasn’t had a solid mid-to-late round draft since he has become GM, thus the clear lack of depth on the Jets this year.

  27. avatar TOON2388 says:

we need to use all of our picks – no trades – need depth. I would not even be averse to trading out of 1st round – there are NO guarantees. we need to see what we do in FA before we start forecasting draft picks

  28. avatar WOJF says:

Need to take at least two of those WR’s on Day 3, one big, one small and fast.

  29. avatar kain45 says:

How about that kid Brian Quick? Just watched his highlights and think he would be great opposite Holmes.
