Quotes: Plaxico Burress is Plaxico Burress

by Bent on February 2nd, 2012 at 7:23 am

Speaking at an autograph show with all the candor of someone strapped to a lie-detector that administers 40,000 volts via a shock collar or a child playing the Yes/No game, Plaxico Burress was keeping his cards close to his chest in Indianapolis yesterday.

On Mark Sanchez:

Mark Sanchez is Mark Sanchez

On how his year with the Jets went:

It went as it went

On how he was used last year:

They used me the way they used me

On the Jets’ locker room situation:

The Jets locker room is the Jets locker room

Elsewhere, Dustin Keller had a more forward thinking outlook:

I think it’s been a little bit blown out of proportion. Obviously, we do have some problems that we need to address. It’s just not as bad as things have been made out to be.

Keller also described Santonio Holmes as a “great guy in the locker room”, a “great playmaker” and said what happened last year was “uncharacteristic” and that they “know things can be settled”.

Then again, Dustin Keller’s opinion is Dustin Keller’s opinion.

Wish we had never signed this guy……Him and Bluntonio showed their true colors this year…..

I dont think he sniffs 3m this year….

    • avatar Brendan says:

Can you name a single thing Plax did all season that could even be considered “bad character”?

      • avatar Andrew Garda says:

I think his comments could have been much much worse.I mean, they are annoyingly vague and half assed, but he didn’t say anything negative per se.

I think he did what he was asked to do on the field this year. In the locker room? All we can do is speculate but he’s not the name that keeps coming up.

      • avatar Mark says:

What bothered me was how after a TD catch he would run to stands and give it to his kid. The first time Cool, but after that it was an ego trip and a media display, not what I want on my team. Is that character? I think so.

        • avatar Brendan says:

Yeah, screw Plax for celebrating touchdowns with kids he didn’t get to do anything with for 2 yeras!!

Seriously? This is the most nit-picky complaint I’ve seen about Plax to date.

          • avatar Revis Christ says:

            years*

            • avatar Brendan says:

              Great, thanks.

            • avatar Mark says:

Just telling you how I felt. I’m an old-timer and don’t care for most celebrations. I prefer the just doing my job approach. As I said, first time, fine….every time B.S. and I do think it is part of the self grandiosity ala Gastineau, Holmes, etc…

              • avatar Brendan says:

…So Gastineau doing the sack dance, or Holmes doing the ball drop is equal to Plax giving his children touchdown balls?

He doesn’t dance, he doesn’t get in opponents faces, he gets up after scoring and runs a ball to the stands to hand to his kid. I will never understand how this can upset someone.

      • avatar OldGuyJetFan says:

No one can, and quite frankly his answers to the questions are probably the answers everyone should be giving to any questions this year. This is one area where maybe the team SHOULD be more Belichian!!(New word)

  2. avatar roof says:

i cant believe it, what a jerk. it was a terrible idea to come into the year with 3 career number 1 wide receivers, seriously, last off season was the off season of my nightmare.

  3. avatar Clean Sanchez says:

    Ugh, dump him

  4. avatar Brendan says:

I don’t get the hate for Plax. I mean I do, because his 2011 season will always be compared to Braylon’s 2010, but seriously guys.

Plax did nothing bad the entire year, unless you count going to your head coach about your concerns about the offense is “bad.” Better they do that than just go through the media, right? Isn’t that what the head coach is for?

So, assuming that’s not considered “bad” all Plax did was be a model teammate. He didn’t miss meetings, he wasn’t surly, he wasn’t the same person who shot himself in 2008.

Let’s call a spade a spade, if Braylon behaved in 2010 the way Plax did in 2011, he would most likely still be on the team.

    • avatar reality jet fan says:

Are you going to pretend that plax wa snot taking a shot at sanchez?

    • avatar Justin says:

I wasn’t a fan of Plax at all this year but that’s more that he has nothing left and can’t get any seperation anymore. He also did NOTHING to quell what was going on in the locker room. As a veteran he had an obligation to do that (but so did a lot of guys).

      • avatar Brendan says:

Braylon would’ve had the locker room eating smores and singing folk songs together around the campfire.

The entire 2011 season is an indictment of Plax’s inability to lead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • avatar DannoinDC says:

I don’t recall Braylon being a bad teammate either. He just had that DUI thing.

My problem with Plax was his lack of production between the 20s. He was a good red zone threat, because of his size mostly, but, seriously, I could’ve run with him in the open field. He was completely incapable of stretching the field, which was something Braylon did very well.

As for what he said…it seems he was trying to NOT say anything controversial. It doesn’t mean he COULDN’T have said something supportive. Frankly, I don’t want him back. He just didn’t do enough, in my opinion, to warrant another year. Thanks for the TDs, but where were you the rest of the time?

  5. avatar levi says:

So he basically said nothing and this reporter turns it into how he hates the Jets and refuses to defend Sanchez. I cant believe some of these guys get paid to spew this crap.

  6. avatar M man says:

He has a lot less to say when he can’t do it anonymously. I know everyone assumed it was all holmes, but plax was the guy everyone knew was trashing eli anonymously.

  7. avatar Bent says:

…and not a single one of us has mentioned Keller’s positive comments yet. (Yeah, I know, I half-deliberately buried it at the bottom of a story ostensibly about Plax).

You can see why the Plax non-comments are a bigger story than the Keller comments that things aren’t as bad as everyone makes out.

  8. avatar Krista says:

I don’t get the hate for Plax either. He never said a single word all season and just did his job (the best he could). I have no issues with Plax.

  9. avatar reality jet fan says:

Anybody who thinks this guy wanted to be a jet or wants to be a jet next year it must be amazing living in fantasy land.

  10. avatar frankc says:

I love Plax. well, maybe not but I don’t hate him. In retrospect was it good to pair him with a developing QB ? probably not even with his red zone abilities. In the final analysis, he’s probably a nice guy but a bit of a malcontent and you know both he and Holmes were sniping at Sanchez behind his back. Those two need a QB who will get in their face and a strong leader which Mark isn’t yet. I think that’s all you can say about him. I’ll be curious how he plays between the 20s next year with a better QB assuming someone brings him in. I think he’s done.

  11. avatar reality jet fan says:

Plax and holmes are randy moss minus his talent

    • avatar patd says:

I never remember what reply to click. I guess my reply to unreality jet fan should have gone here.

      • avatar reality jet fan says:

Unreality? I dont write about this team like they are the pats or yankees? Thats unreality!

        • avatar Bent says:

Sure, some people go to far in their praise of the Jets (but then this IS a Jets fan site, so what would it be without any homerism whatsoever).

However, the fact that some people go slightly over the top doesn’t change the fact that the way you talk about them like they’re the Browns or Jags is even further from reality, because the Jets have been and continue to be much closer to the Yankees and Pats of the world than they are to the bad teams in the league.

          • avatar reality jet fan says:

They go a little over the top? And they are not in the same universe as the pats or yankees

          • avatar Kyle says:

I would hate to live in rjf’s reality.

          • avatar joeyboy79 says:

I say we are right in the middle.

            • avatar Bent says:

Even if that’s the case, then that means RJF is just as bad as those he tends to mock.

              • avatar joeyboy79 says:

No way are we in the league of the pats and Yankees . I dont think thats being unrealistic. We have only one big win in over 40 years with a less than .500 regular season all time record. We are an average organization. We are not the worst, but not the best in my humble opinion which equates to average. Many average teams have the capacity to make the jump and thats all we can hope for. Thats why I am a fan, to hope that we can.

                • avatar Bent says:

I was just talking in the last couple of years. The Jets got close a couple of times, the Yankees won one and blew it a couple of times and the Pats didn’t get as close as the Jets until now. RJF often talks about the Jets over these few years as if they are a laughing stock and the most pathetic team in the league, especially during gamethreads.

                  • avatar joeyboy79 says:

The last couple of years we have not, in no way been a laughing stock, (just this season). I just want to see consistency and that we are heading in the right direction. I have followed sports too long to be taken by a couple good seasons and some flashes. That doesn’t always translate to sustaining the success and winning the big one asa we have seen. What bothers me ,is that I see the same pattern of putting a new coach in like Mangini who was called “Mangenius” and now Rex, and catching teams off guard and having a few good seasons but both times, falling right back to mediocrity. Most teams if they build mainly through FA, they can sometimes go fairly far, but if there is no long lasting young talent, they will fall right back with mass needs like we are now.The article that stated in the last several years we have the least draft picks of any team shows this. When you go from the expectations of we have the best Jets team assembled yet and are headed to a sb in 2011, from our last AFC appearance in 2010, to a team that the wheels fell off, that tells me that things are not legit. I can see some drop off from one year to the next but this was extreme and now needing all these holes filled. I agree, we have some good core players, but we need many pieces yet to be a top contender and real threat. This offseason will really set the stage to see where we are headed as an organization. I just keep hoping! Personally, I will know when we have made the transition, not only with a limited amount of core players, but solid mid-level young talent and depth, so our success is more than just flashes but sustainable success that leads to what we all want.

  12. avatar WOJF says:

Has there ever been a better example of a “non-story” being turned into a Story by a “journalist” during Super Bowl week.

For the record I have no problem with Plax, as far as I could tell he did everything that could have been reasonable expected, not his fault our front office found him so appealing they blew him out of the water over the telephone without even a meeting.

  13. avatar david i says:

Keller did a good job of applying the old cliche, “you’re never as good as you think you are and you’re never as bad as you think you are”. Not knocking him or any other Jets player, but considering all the BS, there still hasn’t been one guy on the damn team to stand up and take charge by telling everyone to “shut the hell up and stop acting like a bunch of panty wads” and to “start acting like professionals, work our harder this offseason and come into mini-camp with a major focus on commitment to the team”. I don’t think thats asking a lot is it? Can someone please step up instead of looking for someone else to do it?

  14. avatar spent says:

I spoke with a Jets player yesterday, on the condition of anonymity, and he said that Sanchez looked down on the entire wide receiver corps, and he loudly petitioned the front office to get him some white receivers. It wasn’t the playcalling that tore the locker room apart; it was racism.

  15. avatar Ferraro41 says:

I don’t get the vitriol over his non-comments. I mean, is it far out of the realm of possibility that he just doesn’t want to get in the middle of anything? He knows that the media sharks are just waiting for him to say *anything* that could be considered controversial, and so he basically pleaded the 5th.

If I were a Jet, I’d be pretty tired of talking about this BS myself, so I don’t see what the big freaking deal is. We’re at a point now where anytime a Jet, current or former, says anything at all, it’s blown out of proportion one way or another.

Jesus I can’t wait for the draft so we have something else to talk about other than the Jets locker room situation. I think plunging ice picks into my knees might be less painful at this point.

  16. avatar patd says:

    Great interview – Plax.

  17. avatar patd says:

Question: What do you think of Brendan.
    Patd-Brendan is Brendan.

Question: What do you think of Hank.
    Patd-Hank is Hank.

    • avatar R in CT says:

PATD IS TOTALLY AGAINST JETS FANS BECAUSE HE DOESN’T FULLY SUPPORT HIS FELLOW FANS ON TJB!!!!

Clearly, patd’s inability to speak at length about either commenter is a scathing indictment to the fractured message boards at TJB, an indication that Bassett has totally lost the fan base. Ray Lucas must go!!!!

Wow, this writing stuff is easier than I thought.

      • avatar Bent says:

R in CT constantly jumps to conclusions and uses baseless speculation to draw his conclusions in everything he writes!!!

Clearly his inability to see both sides of the story means he is another media member that constantly looks to build people up just so he can knock them down again and he only exists to bash the franchise at any turn.

Wow, this blogging stuff is easier than I thought.

  18. avatar will says:

I am so sick of the PC crap. I would love to know what the Jets receivers (even other players) really think about Sanchez.

  19. avatar AKA....Drew says:

Maybe it’s me but totally confused by the hate throwm at Plax? What did he say? Better yet what did he do during the season other then play well after a slow start and 100% improve our once pathetic red zone offense?

He took the high road on a team that he probably is not coming back to and probably thought they could have used him more.

Once again it look like the fans just need a bad guy to blame for this late season melt down.

    • avatar reality jet fan says:

No i blame the gm and hc

    • avatar hank/naples says:

      AKA…Drew:

It’s NOT what he said…It’s what he DIDN’t say and how he said it!!

As Bent pointed out, Plaxico’s response could be construed as “Pleading the Fifth”
in which case the public will automaticaly construe that to be GUILTY by Association….akin to not being forthright…you know, hiding something!!!

At ridiculous times when every one is bashing everything Green and White, Plaxico had a perfect opportunity (Super Bowl Spot Light) to support his coach, his QB and his team and chose to do neither!!

He did NOT care, pleaded the fifth and he should know better!!!

That is why he blew it BIG TIME!!!

      • avatar mucky moose says:

I think it was a great interview.

      • avatar Kyle says:

So he should something that most likely will be completely taken out of context? Poor guy can’t win. If you talk, it gets twisted around. If you don’t talk they think you’re hiding something.

        • avatar DannoinDC says:

Not unless he said something like “Mark is a good young QB who is only going to improve.” Or “I really enjoyed playing with the Jets and was thankful for the opportunity.”

Hard to twist that or take it out of context.

          • avatar Bent says:

            Challenge accepted!

Oh, he’s “only going to improve”? That means he must think he’s as bad as can be!

“Thankful for the opportunity”? He’s looking upon his whole time here as a way to advance his career and end up with a new “proper” team – it was obviously just a means to an end for him.

  20. avatar ramble914 says:

I think Plax was just trying to stay out of the fray, which is what he has done all season long. It’s amazing how someone can say nothing and still get critisized.

  21. avatar reality jet fan says:

I think we should give plax a cookie

  22. avatar ramble914 says:

Oh, and by the way, Plax is not obligated to defend, or endorse Sanchez. Nuetral comments are just that, nuetral.

    • avatar hank/naples says:

      ramble914;

You’re right!! He’s NOT obligated to support his team/mate or HC at the perfect time, when they needed it most!!!

      Of course not!!!

  23. avatar spindoctor says:

Obviously not a member of Mensa.

  24. avatar AKA....Drew says:

Let’s be honest ….. most of the Plax hate is generated because his name is not Braylon Edwards.

    • avatar Marvel says:

      Or…

Because he has zero burst, took half a season to show effort, he’s just not that good and can & will be replaced.

The fact that we love Braylon…Is just a coincidence :-)

  25. avatar Nick says:

Ugh, who cares about this stuff? We really are out of topics when this is a story. Boring.

Maybe thejetsblog should go on hiatus for a few weeks till we get closer to FA, and actual topics to discuss.

  26. avatar Marvel says:

Not that I care… But this IS a story

    Nicks
    Welker
    Jennings
    Cruz
    Jackson
    Calvin
    Gronk
    Etc
    Etc

Name one good receiver that wouldn’t endorse (compliment) a “good” QB ? Come on now. Either Plax sucks or He thinks Mark sucks.

Take a side but you know it’s a story. This is just as bad as him ripping Sanchez.. You know (I talking to a camera in my head) *shrug

    • avatar Brendan says:

      What?

This is literally outrageous. He didn’t say anything, you people are all insane.

      • avatar Marvel says:

        Denial…River.. Egypt.. You..

        • avatar Brendan says:

Ughhhhhhhh why? Why am I in denial? Because you named a bunch of elite receivers with elite QBs and they all fawn over each other publicly?

          • avatar DannoinDC says:

I actually usually agree with you Brendan, but not so this time. Sometimes, it’s what you DON’T say that is the real message. Plax didn’t have to fawn over Sanchez, Rex, or the Jets, but he could’ve said something simple yet supportive. Like “Mark is a good young QB who has a bright future.” Or “I enjoyed playing for the Jets and am greatful for the opportunity.”

Would’ve been perfectly acceptable answers and wouldn’t have made him sound like an autistic parrot.

      • avatar hank/naples says:

        Brendan:

        Your dead wrong, again!!!

Want to know why?? Read my respose to AKA above!!

        • avatar Brendan says:

No, Hank. Because last night I undressed you in this public forum and you made stupid comments that were either intended to be slights or just completely ignore the fact that your posts were completely false.

Everyone always likes to post how they ignore my posts, but I am going to start ignoring posts of people who recycle overused nonsense and refuse to ever, EVER admit that they might be wrong.

And for all the people who say I never admit to being wrong, I do, people just ignore it because it doesn’t fit the stigma.

Have fun arguing against a brick wall, Hank. I don’t have time for you idiocy anymore.

          • avatar hank/naples says:

            Brendan:

Of course that is your perogative!!

But just make sure you understand that 99% of the time you circumvented my premise, complete went off on a tangent and refused to address it whenever I tried bringing you back ON POINT!!! !!

Just like you are doing now with DIRECT response to you VIA my comments to AKA…Drew!!!

            • avatar Brendan says:

No. I never do. I always address your posts line by line. Go and look at yesterday’s exchange and tell me I circumvented a single thing. You simply post, get rebuffed, and then post something completely irrelevant and pointless.

          • avatar levi says:

Good luck Brendan. I tried to do this myself but every now and then there is a comment so rediculous I have to respond.

            • avatar mucky moose says:

Hey guys the world doesn’t revolve arond you.

Question:What do you you think of Brendan.
              patd: Brendan is Brendan.
Question:What do you think of Hank.
              patd:Hank is Hank.

              well said patd

  27. avatar Boomer says:

Plax seemed to be a good soldier, unless there was stuff going on in the locker room that we as fans don’t know about.

My problem with Plax is that he was 70th in the NFL in receiving, that is not starter material when you consider that the Jets were 9th in the NFL in pass attempts. He was a great red zone target, and a sucky NFL starter.

  28. avatar Boomer says:

The Jets are not bringing back Plax (despite the fact he scored 8 TD), because they know he is old and slow and not an NFL starter.

Plax will not start for ANY NFL team next year. That is a very easy prediction. If he signed, it will be strictly to be a red zone target.

  29. avatar Klecko71 says:

Again gentlemen…this is a Giants city. They can do no wrong. They are the perfect team. The writers here blow up Brady’s comments at a freakin pep rally, but loser Chris canty (who has been a huge bust until the last 5 weeks, every giant fan I know says it) he now says “get ready for a parade tuesday”.

Somehow his comments will be “confidence” in today’s papers (haven’t read em yet).

So apologies to the portion of you who think you can’t ever root for the pats…but I am f—–g sick of it being a giants city, sick of their smug arrogant entitled “we are better then everyone else” fan base, and the writers who cover them like lupica and vacchiano, who said on SNY the other day that it “kills jet fans that Ellis and ihedigbo are in the super bowl”…unmm no you tool we didn’t hate those guys…so it doesnt “kill us”.. And ihedigbo wasnt exactly a star either…writers like those 2 tools need to eat it Sunday night.

Go pats….hope wilfork destroys oh-shucks boy Eli

    • avatar kd bart says:

Writers like Lupica and Vacchisno were booking Coughlin’s ticket out of town two months ago. Now, they do nothing but kiss his a**. In NY Sports, you don’t need a weathervane to know which way the wind blows.

    • avatar Nick says:

      Stop being such a vagina.

There is NEVER an acceptable time to root for the Pats. NEVER.

      • avatar Revis Christ says:

        +10000000

        • avatar Klecko71 says:

to each his own gentlemen…the giants, specifically their fan base…are pretty hateable.

I only know a few pats fans personally.

2 supes in 4 years…especially considering the state of our team…pretty sickening if it happens.

Don’t need to hear fatcessa say “see the giants dont puff out thier chests when they get to a title game, they win super bowls”

          • avatar Rusty sanchez says:

The only thing that bothers me is they get a free pass predicting a superbowl victory meanwhile if it was the jets in the superbowl the media would be reporting how the jets can’t keep their mouths shut and that they should play the game before talking… It’s a shame because the ny media has me rooting for the hated pats instead of the other hometown team

            • avatar Klecko71 says:

Agree 1000%. That’s what makes it very hard to actually back the most arrogant entitled fan base I have ever come accross. (and yes I am a Yankee fan, and I know people feel that way about us…but i am not one of the arrogant ones)

              • avatar Revis Christ says:

I hate both fan bases. I hate the Giant fan base a little more because I don’t have to deal with any NE ones. But I cant stand Brady and Belicheat, they make my blood boil.
I really don’t mind the Giants as a team except for a select few. But I just cant watch Brady pump his fists in celebration ever.
And as for Francesa, just don’t watch him, he’s an idiot.

            • avatar Nick says:

Really? You don’t think that winning the damn thing a few years ago gets them a little more latitude? No, it’s becasue their not the Jets?

I have news for you, had the Jets gotten to the SB they’d have been allowed to talk all they wanted. Winners are allowed to talk, losers need to zip the lip.

          • avatar Nick says:

            All I hear is…..

“Waaa Waaa Waaa, oh no fatsessa will make fun of me, my wittle friends will torment me, what am i going do?”

            Your an embaresment guy.

      • avatar Bent says:

I don’t think any of us are really rooting FOR either team…just AGAINST the other team.

        • avatar Olerud_4_LIfe says:

Itll be nice if they tied and then war elephants from north africa came and trampled the team, leaving the player still alive, but everyone disgusted by the carnage. And the game ends in a tie.

        • avatar joeyboy79 says:

Wrong, but I am unique, lol. I like the g-men, shoot me! I live in NY and admit I like the giants style as an organization. The Jets are my #1 and always will be, but this Sunday the giants are in the mix and the jets are not , so I will root the next best team of mine on! Go Giants!

      • avatar DannoinDC says:

I’m rooting for drunkeness and good commercials on Sunday. I may not even be aware there’s a football game being played by the end of the 1st quarter.

  30. avatar Boomer says:

I do think Plax saved the 2nd Buffalo game (at home) when the Jets were down 3 and facing a 3rd and long very late in the game. Sanchez threw it into the 2nd row (shocker right?) and Plax jumped into the 2nd row of seats to make the catch.

That was the highlight of the year for Plax.

  31. avatar Klecko71 says:

Oh…and the plax “interview” is nothing. Just a giants town making it bigger then it is.

It’s obvious plax is “hurt” bc his old team rejected him and they are in the super bowl without him.

In 08 he basically got them eliminated by shooting himself, so now his ego hurts a bit bc they are here without him. Simple, and he ain’t happy right now.

  32. avatar lynschrstphr says:

    What an ass…
Here I was hopeful that this idiot, playing for a better contract next year, would show up in some way or form.

    Adios loser…

  33. avatar damion says:

Never have I seen an 8-8 team get this much post season coverage…

    • avatar reality jet fan says:

Because this was not 8 and 8 this was 8 and 8 and felt like 3 and 13. And the head coach talked about the pats and giants and they are in the superbowl

    • avatar hank/naples says:

      damion:

      *****NEWS FLASH*****

This post season coverage is NOT Jets induced, it is Rexy Induced!!

  34. avatar damion says:

If this is such a giants town then why the hell is everyone still talking about the jets???

    • avatar Boomer says:

Because a lot of people despise Rex and want to throw this season in his face. Simple as that.

      • avatar Nick says:

You say it like he didn’t have anyting to do with it. The guy brought it on himself. You talk s**t, you get what you get.

    • avatar reality jet fan says:

Because we were a disaster ion the field and in the locker room. None of the talk has been positive. And jet players are coming out and talking about the disaster

    • avatar Olerud_4_LIfe says:

SON…YOU ARE DUMB RIGHT. You are in teh SB, why are these teams and the media still focused on the jets? Like we did anything to the writer or the so-called analysts who didnt do their homework last year and just discounted the jets. The packers lost, the saints lost, the tebows, lost. Yet the jets still get ished on, and we didnt even make the playoffs.

  35. avatar Klecko71 says:

Damion…if the giants weren’t in the super bowl, the coverage of the jets right now would be ZERO.

    Go pats

  36. avatar Klecko71 says:

The giants writers in this town are mocking the jets every chance they get….pretty easy to see why.

  37. avatar Klecko71 says:

    Oh….and go pats

(vote quimby…for you simpsons fans out there)

  38. avatar AKA...Drew says:

So based on these vague comments from Plax he sucks, is a horrible WR, didn’t play well after missing two years and hates Mark Sanchez….. Got it.

  39. avatar Klecko71 says:

Btw….back page of the post over the weekend??

Jets at the pro bowl….”hona-losers”. (funny yes) but do you think for one SPLIT SECOND that they would ever do a back page or headline if that was the giants??

    Vote quimby…

  40. we got less press when we went 4-12 with mangini.I hope Rex is looking at all this and builds the team back up, but not say a word. maybe become a belicheat when the media talks to him.The Jets next year need to bus someone in the mouth. This is a good time to lick our wounds and get ready.Oh yes the Giants will lose they are just talking to much. we all know what Brady is capable of. I see a Brady spectacular coming. Then he will retire or be more laid back.I really hope he gets his 4th ring this guy was picked in late rounds of the draft he has every right to be pissed.as much as I hate him.like I did M.Jordan when he kept the knicks away from a eastern title..

  41. avatar damion says:

the most interesting story outta SB46 is about Gronk’s ankle.
Every week they dragg a jets or a soon to be former jet into the spotlight. This is worset then Tebowmaina.
    I mean really
yesterday its Ellis 2days ago its Jacobs talking about plax not coming back who cares??? Rise your hand if anyone thought this was going to be more then a one shot deal…no pun inteded!
Plax was brought in to improve the rundzone offense and most of all win a superbowl….Mission accomplished
(#1 rz offense)but no superbowl berth…its so long seeya later.

  42. They need to get younger at the WR position anyway. Give Mark a young WR that he can grow and build a rapport with. Why should any of this nonsense matter? It won’t change the outcome of what happened.

  43. avatar damion says:

IF the g-men didnt make the superbowl then there would be 3x the coverage of the dissappointing end to the 2011 jets season clearly. what else the 1st place Rangers? nope, how bout the suckka ass knicks? please the ****bagg mets?oh god or mybe the yankees ? no cause they didt spend a bazillion $$$ on somebody. OH wait mybe it would have been the Giants caus the would have likely fired Coughlin and perry fewell , and over paid for Jeff fisher so yea!

    • avatar Brendan says:

Pardon, but why do the 1st place Rangers get a “nope” when they’re they are the best team in the Eastern Conference?

      • avatar Brendan says:

Oh, you mean from the media themselves. Never mind, you are right. It’s infuriating that the Blueshirts get zero media coverage.

  44. avatar nickballs2000 says:

Who in their right mind would give a crap what Plaxico has to say.. i didnt want him last year and i dont want him next year. Screw him and let him go play for the giants. who cares

  45. avatar The Ed(itor) says:

The JETS need a tall speedy WR who can stretch the field. Michael Flood comes to minf.

  46. avatar surely you jets says:

Put your eye back on the ball. The issue is twofold. A.) The team (i.e., Tan) put itself into a position in which it had to take a flier on Plax, a shell of an elite receiver; and is now having to watch its rivals make the dance with Welker, Gronk, Cruz, Nicks, the very kinds of players we have never developed or acquired in their prime.

And B.) Plax just took the Jets flier and yet shows no gratitude in the least. The tiniest bit of class would involve polite answers, not these juvenile passive aggressive evasions, which are intended to signal displeasure –as if the displeasure of a washed up talent should make the least littlest difference.

    • avatar reality jet fan says:

      +100000

    • avatar Brendan says:

Holmes is in his prime. Holmes is elite.

      • avatar surely you jets says:

The last I checked he’s never had eighty catches i a season, gone over 1000 once, and was refusing to join the huddle in a possible playoff determining football game. I know you’re a flack, but even you have to hold your nose trying to compare Holmes at this point in his career arc to Gronk, Nicks, Welker, etc. Not even close.

        • avatar Brendan says:

I will take any bet from anyone that 2012 Holmes steamrolls 2012 Victor Cruz statistically. I can’t make this bet fast enough. Please, any takers feel free to step forward.

          • avatar Bent says:

I’ll take the bet. Then again, I always bet against my team in the belief that at least if my team loses out, I’ll receive compensation.

Wait, if he gets moved to another team and still outproduces Cruz, I still lose even though the Jets lose out? Bet rescinded!

  47. avatar reality jet fan says:

Kerely and cumberland are now the answers jeez

  48. avatar damion says:

Brenden have you see the rangers on anywhere as the lead or mybe on a back page NOPE….mybe the NHL netwk.
I thought mybe after the winter classic…NOPE not a sniff.

I will be at MSG come sunday then its off to the movies REDTAILS and CHRONICLE.NO sb46 for me!!! WOnt root for big blue CAN’T root for that weasel belichick and that scumbag brady. JUST tell me when its over…ugh!

  49. avatar reality jet fan says:

Go to canada hockey not important in new york. After superbowl it will be how awful the mets are and how great my yankees will be.

  50. avatar reality jet fan says:

    The knicks sucking doesnt help

  51. avatar J from Jersey says:

hopefully the Jets can make the Media and the NFL eat their words next season – well the only way is to win the SB – it would be the ultimate FU to the entire NFL

No one likes the Jets cept the Fanbase, I prefer to keep it that way, let em talk – we’ll punch them in the mouth come next season

  52. avatar JimmyD says:

Plax would’ve been better served taking a little less money and going to a team that has a better quarterback. If he had a better season the money would’ve been there.

  53. avatar damion says:

why leave the country there are 3 hockey teams right here… can’t believe poeple would rather cry about how terrible the mets are gonna be Then get excited for playoff hockey. And to be honest I just can’t get excited for the yankees this season its so strange I’m not even thinking about them at all my be after the nfl Draft.

  54. avatar reality jet fan says:

How could u not get excited for the yankees ?Unlike the jets they actually win champioships

  55. avatar mataos says: January 18, 2012 at 7:10 pm "I don't buy it" says:

“Surely you jets” got it right. Good Lord these comments sections are filled with 95%crap anymore.

  56. avatar pomeroy says:

Hard to believe all this hate for Plax. I think he was about as close to a ‘model Jet’ as we could have asked for this year. He did everything that was asked of him. Did you seen any of his downfield blocking? If not you were not paying attention – he had some of the best blocks by a Jet receiver ever.

  57. avatar joe willy says:

I have to give reality jet fan some credit for telling to the way it is and not the way a lot of folks on this board wish it was.

Plax and his (non) comments are indicative of a team in disarray. A team (with few exceptions) made up of punks who really have no concern whatsoever for anything other than their personal stats and paychecks. Plax is insignificant, he won’t even be back next year but he’s a great example of the type of person the jets target when they go out looking for new talent.
Get the loudest, flashiest scumbag with the most baggage because the great rex ryan can make an honest man out of anyone…guys just love playing for him…they would do anything for him.
Not true, they like the money Woody and the brilliant Mr. T throw around and they like the fact that the prisoners run the jail.
Get rid of Rex. Change the culture. Build a winner.

    • avatar joeyboy79 says:

+1 The Jets have to start looking at the type of players that they are bringing in. Plaxs attitude was piss poor. You are right, its only about the money , as Rex will learn everyone is not your best friend and discipline when warranted ,like BB and TC dish out as coaches ,is sometimes the only answer! Rex has to really address his own personal style big time.

  58. avatar joeyboy79 says:

What a shty attitude by plax. The Jets give this old fart that was fresh out of prison a chance and this is how he leaves off with them?Punk arse quotes! He is the definition of bad chemistry! Good bye geezer!

  59. avatar Randy says:

Enough of this cr”p.im sick already of the giants trashing the jets. They are in the Super Bowl and all they want to talk about is being better than the jets.now Jacobs goes out of his way to intise plax out to trash the jets even more. I sware pats had better blow out these imposters!

  60. avatar DannoinDC says:

No. You guys don’t get it. Plax is just a really DEEP thinker. Think about it…”it went as it went.” Damn…that’s some metaphysical Buddha-type stuff.

  61. avatar frankc says:

haha yes Zen-Buddha Plax! he just needs to gain 300 lbs.

  62. avatar joeyboy79 says:

    Yeah, Plax is so credible,lol.

  63. avatar miketaliaferro says:

Actually, Plax had an excellent year for the 3rd or 4th receiver that he was for most of this year.

Unfortunately for the Jets, he was brought in & paid to be a No. 1A receiver.

    Oops.

Basically, he looked the same as he played: an old, slow receiver who was out of the game for two years.

It was a decent idea as a rental for a year, but now we go get our young flyboy WR.

Assuming Braylon gets hurt here the same way he did in SF, then, yeah, Plax was a good pickup.

IF Plax returns, it’s to do nothing more than run in when we get to the 10-yd. line, then play jumpball in the corner. That’s the only game he’s got left.

  64. avatar Brendan says:

    Rod Boone @rodboone

Asked Plax if he thinks Sanchez has skill set to be an elite #NFL QB: “Of course. You’ve seen him play well. I’ve seen him play well.”

    Everyone, shut it.
