Jets Take out Full-Page Ad Congratulating Giants

by Steiny on February 8th, 2012 at 10:47 am

Woody Johnson issued a statement shortly after the Super Bowl on Sunday, congratulating both the Giants and Patriots on a tremendous game. Well it seems he isn’t done. Today, the Jets took out a full-page ad in the Daily News to congratulate the Giants once again.

    Classy move.

  2. avatar Batwings says:

    Without a doubt Classy.

  3. avatar BklynPete says:

I understand taking the high road but this is over the top. After hearing what Tuck had to say yesterday about it being their house, which was a dig at the JETS, why do this? It seemss like the JEts are sucking up….

    • avatar Batwings says:

      Tuck is a schmuck

    • avatar NYJetFan17 says:

It is their house. They just won a Super Bowl. He has the right to say whatever he wants. You know damn well Rex would be tooting that horn had it been the Jets who took home a ring this year. Let the Giants have their celebration. Hopefully we’ll have ours sometime in the near future.

    • avatar Jake says:

I agree. As much as the Giants ripped the Jets over the last week (it seemed both teams couldn’t stop trashing the Jets during media day) and the Tuck dig from yesterday, the full page ad was not necessary.

If the shoe is ever on the other foot, I doubt we’ll see the same. And how much you want to bet that nobody will say a word about it.

      • avatar SackDance99 says:

I’m not so sure about that, Woody and the Maras/Tisches are business partners for the next 20-30 years. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Giants put in a similar ad. It’s not a zero sum game for the owners. While Giants fans might not ever want to see a Jets SB win, the owners know that the revenue that a Jets SB victory would bring in would be worth the price of a full page ad in a rag that I wouldn’t use to paper train a mutt.

    • avatar mike westhoffs bastard brother says:

“… after hearing what Tuck had to say…”

because Woody is a Class Act, and a multibillionaire owner does not lower himself to the level of a player who would not be playing in a great stadium were it not for said owner’s efforts.

And besides, every Jets fan should know, the only way punks like tuck, or jacobs, will shut up is when the Jets get the Lombardi trophy.

  4. avatar Bent says:

Cue Ralph Vacchiano accusing them of trying to steal the Giants’ thunder.

  5. avatar levi says:

I wonder if this is an attempt to clean up the image of the Jets a little. Im just saying some seem to think Jets are all about loud brash talking etc.

    • avatar Bent says:

It will also force the Giants to have to do likewise if the Jets ever win one, which will be an even more humiliating climbdown considering they actually have talked trash instead of not actually saying anything but having everyone believe you’re classless due to empty rhetoric from the media.

      • avatar Lew says:

Classy move by Woody. Why not go the high road? Better way to be. And what, exactly, can a Jets fan or exec or player say right about now?

It’s tough but going the high road is the best way. Bent, I’m not sure what you’re saying in this run-on sentence :). Can you clarify?

      • avatar Jaro says:

You mean when the Jets win one!

  6. avatar tish says:

It is the right thing to do and must have been arranged by Tannenbaum since it is cheaper to run a full page ad in the News than the Times

  7. avatar jerk says:

F**k the giants and the organization. What Woody said publicly was fine, this was over the top and to much.

  8. avatar Todd14 says:

    This is unacceptable

  9. avatar spent says:

The Giants probably took out the ad themselves.

  10. avatar mataos says: January 18, 2012 at 7:10 pm "I don't buy it" says:

Question: Would Woody have done this if the Patriots had won?

    • avatar Bent says:

No, he’s clearly done this just because they share a stadium and a city.

    • avatar kd bart says:

Considering the Pats dedicated the season to Robert Kraft’s deceased wife, yes.

      • avatar Bent says:

I didn’t consider that angle, but that’s perhaps something that would be better served with a private congratulations.

You know the Jets are making a statement about themselves here, by “being the bigger man” and acknowledging the Giants’ success as transparent as that may be.

        • avatar clarkgaines1979 says:

also, you manage to get your logo on the same page, same size as the congrats to the super bowl champs… It is a bit transparent… but so what ;)

I’m a lifelong jet fan who has no animosity towards the giants. Good for them, hope our turn is next year!

      • avatar juunit says:

Not to belittle that family’s loss… but… can we shut up about Kraft’s wife already? She died, it happens every day. It’s not like she was Mother Teresa. It just shows how Kraft has everyone in football wrapped around his little finger.

        • avatar R in CT says:

I have speculated that Kraft sacrificed his wife to help the Patriots win—”Sorry honey, but it’s for the best of the team”—but like with all those deal with the devil, there’s always some twist and it didn’t work out. Probably something with the deal Brady made that trumped it somehow …

I was also hoping that after the game, Kraft would be announcing his engagement to Lindsay Lohan or some other young train wreck.

Of course, that’s all based on nothing other than my petty jealousy and unbridled imagination—hey, maybe I can get a gig with Florio!

          • avatar juunit says:

And if he were to marry Lohan, I bet everyone would call it a match made in heaven. Kraft Midas can do no wrong, everything he touches turns into Superbowls.

  11. avatar GatoGrande says:

    they left out:

…We can only hope to catch as many breaks as you did one year

  12. avatar Buckz says:

I’ve never seen Rex diss anybody he’s just said he believes in his team. As far as the congrats to the Giants when fighter get in the ring there enemies when the smoke clears and the winner hand is raised the defeated gives the victor congrats the Giants won this year, but the JETS will be back next year and remember people it’s takes a lot to win a SB

  13. avatar Sec 207A says:

How about we bend over and take it a little harder from the Giants… Seriously, how much more can we kiss their butts.

  14. avatar Jets-Fan-4-Life says:

Classy move Woody, but I’m sure the giants will never reciprocate this sentiment as they are a bunch of bottom feeders!!!

If that was truly a respectable organization the owners would have made Jacobs apologize for the Christmas Eve incident, as well as Tuck for his “Giants Stadium” comments. There could always be some backlash by the new Stadium sponsors and who wants to piss them off you jerk!

In the end I have no issue with them bragging about the better NY/NJ team, who is the big brother, or even the “We got a ring” chant yesterday, but come on already we all know “Giants Stadium” was knocked down so get over it stupid!!!

    • avatar Batwings says:

and if you remember, the last game the giants played in their stadium they got smoked. The jets closed Giants stadium out with a bang

      • avatar Nick says:

That was an awesome game too! I was there and that was a night game they didn’t serve beer at so the tailgate was even more important, only the beer was freezing in your hand if u didnt drink it fast enough…gets memories.

  15. avatar Le' Sean Roberts says:

Man, whatever, the plan would be to jack-up as many players as possible in the pre-season, on the giants starting roster. Some real B-S all offseason. Damn defensive coordinator, 21 play drive…..unforgivable. Rex Ryan’s obligation was to continue that mentality they had on defense; he should have been making the calls, no question. Schotty’s gone, so whatever. A bit agitated with them calling the stadium their own. Be like Donald Trump. If anybody agitates you, threaten to throw them in court or something.

  16. avatar nickballs2000 says:

this may be a classy move but im disgusted….Woody should have took out a 2 page ad that read F and U
scumbag Giants and their clueless fans…
im sure you all saw that chick at the parade, who said she was there to see Sanchez…..bunch of frontrunning clowns….
cant wait till this super bowl is a distant memory….
also, if we ever win a title (please , pretty please)….we should burn giants jerseys in the street during the parade….just sayin…ha

    • avatar Bernie says:

      “F and U”

Awesome. Couldn’t have said it better. A private congratulatory call from Woody to Mara is appropriate. This ad is pathetic and embarrassing, which is fitting for this joke of a franchise.

  17. avatar John Eddie says:

…”I’ve never seen Rex diss anybody he’s just said he believes in his team.”…

Clearly you must not remember Rex clearly disrespecting Norv Turner by saying he would have won a couple of Super Bowls with his Chargers roster. Meanwhile Rex has proclaimed 3 years in a row that his team had the best players and will win The Super Bowl every year and he hasn’t even gotten to one let alone win one. Rex has run his mouth again and again and it has gotten us nowhere. He is a very tired act in my opinion. You know, Giants players may talk a little bit here and there like a lot of teams do, but you don’t hear their coach ever saying anything derogatory toward another team, coach or organization. This is a fact.

    • avatar Brendan says:

Rex does not “run his mouth” and this is a complete misrepresentation of what he does. All he ever does is pump up his guys. He doesn’t say they have the best “players” he says they have the best “player” at a handful of positions (like CB and C for example).

He does say the Jets have a very talented team and he said they’re going to the Super Bowl once this entire season, and it was in August or September.

Rex has never said anything derogatory about another team or player. He shows absolute confidence in his team, that’s all.

I would love it if you can pull a direct quote where he was derogatory towards a team or players. He even had the perfect opportunity to do it with Brandon Jacobs after his classless behavior, and chose not to address it.

      • avatar NYJetFan17 says:

For the sake of devil’s advocate. He didn’t just say this, he put it in print when he wrote that stupid book (I regret spending $30 bucks on it). Not that this is THAT “derogatory” but he clearly calls out the Giants as a team. This is also coming from a guy that loves Rex and really wants to see him succeed.

“I have news for you. We are the better team. We’re the big brother. People might say they are the big, bad Giants, but we are not the same old Jets. To me, it seems clear that right now we are the better team and we are going to remain the better team for the next 10 years. Whether you like it or not, those are the facts, and that’s what going to happen. I know it’s going to happen because our style of football is different. We are going to take over the town whether the Giants like it or not, so those fans on the fence that like both teams are going to be Jets fans in the end. The truth is, if I am going to watch one game, I am going to see the Jets, without a doubt. We are better.”

        • avatar Brendan says:

I will admit he enters the grey area when talking about the Giants. But, to be fair, I do believe it was Tuck who started this when he said “It’s still Giants stadium” prior to last season. That’s a two-way street, IMO.

But regarding every other team, I think my above post applies.

          • avatar Nick says:

He’s the only coach in the league who engages PLAYERS in running conversations. Tuck was certaintly not the first/nor the last.

            • avatar Brendan says:

Tuck’s comments were unsolicited and had nothing to do with Rex.

And so what if he engages players in running dialogues? Why is that bad? 99% of these back-and-forths are laughed at and clearly joking around. Because Brandon Jacobs (who, I think even Giants fans would agree, is a Grade-A A-hole) got all huffy it means Rex should stop?

And I don’t even know how often this even occurs. How many players did he go back and forth with through the media? Channing Crowder?

          • avatar abe says:

What!!! Did you read the quote? I understanding standing by your team’s coach but really? Grey Area? He called out the entire team and the grey area might be not saying the whole Giant Organization.

            • avatar Brendan says:

Are those comments really that bad? What’d he say? The Jets are better? He’s the head coach of the Jets, so that’s just unacceptable, right?

Do you want him to say the Giants are better?

              • avatar NYJetFan17 says:

They aren’t that bad but I’d rather him not have said anything. He wrote that book after 1 year as a head coach. He had a successful season but how many other coaches had success in year 1 and then didnt have a job by year 3 or 4? I think he just got caught up and went a bit too far, too early.

                • avatar Brendan says:

I get that it rubbed people the wrong way (releasing the book so early), but remember that the book came out when he was on top of the NFL world, so to speak. He was the talk of NYC, everyone loved him, etc.

So, it’s hard to criticize him now when no one really spoke out when it happened. People loved it. “Rex being Rex” and all that.

But, again, this is just one team. He’s praised pretty much every other opponent he’s had as head coach of the Jets.

    • avatar nickballs2000 says:

put on your giants jersey and F off then
im sure they have a blog where u can mouth bang justin tuck

    • avatar Bent says:

He didn’t mean to disrespect Turner though, he was actually stating how much he respected the team and their players. When he realized his remarks could be construed that way (and hasn’t everyone been saying that about him for years?) he immediately apologized.

    • avatar Le' Sean Roberts says:

      So, you wanna rehire Mangini?

    • avatar __fense says:

Clearly you must not remember Rex clearly apologizing that very day, saying over and over again that he meant it only as a complement to the Charger’s players. And then calling up Norv personally to say that he is sorry. That doesn’t sound like someone who is trying to disrespect anyone.

Also, how the hell do you call two AFC championship games nowhere? He got closer than 28 other coaches, coming directly after missing the playoffs entirely, and two years removed from going 4-12. I don’t think anyone can argue that he isn’t at least the 4th most successful coach in the league in the time since he took the job, after the three that won the three Superbowls. It’s crazy talk.

  18. avatar Lew says:

I am 53, remember the Jets SB III vividly and also the pre-season win in ’69 over NYG. Watching the Giants win their 4th SB is sickening and is why I rooted for Pats. But Giants deserve the kudos and they deserve to stick it to the Jets. Someone above said Rex doesn’t talk down about others, he only talks his guys up. Really? How about the “owning the Giants for 10 years” nonsense? Take the high road, come back and try and win one next year is all you can do. If they somehow do win SB XLVII, imagine how the storyline changes: Sanchez, 2 AFC Championship Games and a SB in first 4 years. Unlikely? Very. Only way to think for NYJ (just don’t shout it/predict it.

  19. avatar Vinny T says:

Mr T and Woody are a joke, are they serious with this? Mara and tisch never would have done this. NEVER! Let’s get our own championship already. Jetlife Stadium!!!!!!

  20. avatar Vinny T says:

    Ha maybe!

  21. avatar nickballs2000 says:

Mara and tisch are a couple of dbags….what pisses me off more than anything is how they like to tell everyone how Classy their franchise is….When their all time iconic player is a registered sex offender.
F them, F the giants, F the color Blue, …..disgusted

  22. avatar Vinny T says:

Looks like we might be opening up with a home game. Giants will be playing on opening night Thursday. Any thoughts on who we will be playing? Divison game or non division game? Probably have to wait and see what happens in free agency first before anyone can give any real thoughts.

    • avatar kd bart says:

If the first weekend of the regular season is Sept 8-9, I don’t see the Jets playing a home game on Sunday particularly if the Giants are playing Thursday night at home. USC and Syracuse are playing a game at Metlife Stadium that Saturday and I don’t think they want 3 games played on that turf in about 72 hours.

  23. avatar Vinny T says:

    Well put nickballs!

  24. avatar jetsetradio says:

classy move i want to see if the giants do the same when we win the suprbowl…doubt it

  25. avatar nickballs2000 says:

i just went out and bought blue toilet paper for the house….atleast now when i whipe my a$$ i can think of john mara

  26. avatar Pufta says:

Woody should have had balls 5 years ago and built a stadium on the West Side. Now he has to face the music and listening to BS comments about it being “Giants Stadium” until the Jets win a SB. He had his opportunity and he blew it…

    • avatar Bernie says:

      Pufta: +1,000,000,000,000.

    • avatar Brendan says:

Yeah, he tried this, the fact that it didn’t happen had nothing to do with Woody, for the record.

      • avatar SackDance99 says:

Geez, people have short memories. The Dolans, who didn’t want a competing venue to MSG opened up down the block, spent millions in ads and lobbying to block the West Side Stadium, which was supported by Bloomberg and Pataki. The vote which killed the project came down to approval of a muni bond issue to finance the stadium. Those decisions are made by just 3 men: Sheldon Silver (leader of the Assembly), Joe Bruno (then leader of the Senate) and Governor Pataki. It was thought that because Bruno and Pataki (as well as Bloomberg and Woody) are Republicans, the vote would have passed. But, in a master stroke of crony capitalism, the Dolans hired, I believe, Bruno’s son as a lobbyist on the project. Bruno made the “Upstate v. Downstate” argument and voted against the bond issue and the rest is history. The West Side Stadium would’ve generated millions (if not billions) in revenue and revitalized an underutilized area of Manhattan. It wasn’t Woody’s fault, it was just bare knuckles politics and every New Yorker lost.

        • avatar Bittinho says:

Also, the most powerful man in New York, schmucko Sheldon Silver, basically said he would veto it because it would take funds away from downtown (his district). We will always be little brother in the new stadium until we win a SB. Even I slip up and call it Giants Stadium.

          • avatar Lam Jones says:

Woody got hosed by the Dolan’s and the pols, no doubt, but even he can’t blame them for the decision to share a stadium again; Bloomberg would have built them their own stadium somewhere, even if it was Queens

            • avatar SackDance99 says:

The new stadium in Queens was a pipe dream. The Flushing revitalization project that is meant to clear out all those chop shops by CitiField is where the proposed new stadium would’ve been. Last time I looked, the chop shops are still there embroiled in what will be years of eminent domain litigation. That being said, MetLife on game day feels like a Jets Stadium and I don’t care that we share it with the Giants. There’s no signage or colors suggesting that it’s “Giants Stadium.” The blue and red seats, with the sign over the stadium insured that the last place could never have been the Jets home. Plus, the PSLs cleared out the NJ Giants fans who got season tickets because they were shut out for Giants tickets.

      • avatar Pufta says:

        SD –

Great response…My last sentence of my rant was going to be about F—ing Dolan. Thanks for adding to my thought. Really good stuff.

  27. avatar nickballs2000 says:

and Classy is a word that my wife uses to describe a friggin restaurant…i dont want to have to sit here 3 days after the super bowl and say “well atleast my team was classy”….get the F out of here…….i do wish Rex would stop the guarantees but other than that, i hope he keeps talking and i hope this team gets back to talking…..this way if we ever win a bowl, we can trash the giants fans and their organization. All my friends that are Giants fans are gonna wish they disowned me..cuz it will get ugly…i will send telegrams to each of their houses with the statement “Big Blew My Wang”….. and “Mara Looks like the Crypt Keeper”

  28. avatar joe willy says:

This is Woody’s version of damage control after all the bad publicity Rex, Holmes etc. have brought us this year.

  29. avatar Shane L. says:

Pathetic. It’s bad enough they just won again and we have to take it and all their verbal jabs and condescending remarks. They’re already laughing at us and now we’re kissing their you-know-what in the paper? Can’t get much worse.

  30. avatar John Eddie says:

Have to admit this was my first visit here today. Just wanted to know, why is everyone so damn hostile about everyone and everything? …Or am I even allowed to ask? Carry on…

  31. The amount of trash the Jets talk is overblown by the media. We do not talk as much crap as other fans and the media make it out to be.

  32. avatar damion says:

Classey Move indeed. I’m glad they did this!
I’m glad they didnt say anything about the Giants shabby 9-7 record or say how if it wasnt for a lucky A** 99 yrd play you punk a** wouldnt even be in the playoffs and if you play’d in the AfC you would be lucky to have more the one super bowl trophy…or If the packers hadnt develope a case of the dropsy you woulda get blown out or if you hadnt got all the lucky bounces against the 49ers you wouldnt be having no stinking para and well you get the idea. Congrats A**hole’s :0)

  33. avatar damion says:

    *parade

  34. avatar Jake says:

    Here’s the thing:

A lot of people say that Rex should not have said anything in the book about being the “big brother”. While I understand that sentiment, how long exactly did we hear that the Jets were the little brother? Long before Rex got here. Even after accomplishing more in 2009 and 2010, they were basically told how they were the secondary team.

So I can’t blame Rex for saying “no we are not”. Now obviously it didn’t work out this year and perhaps if somebody asks him a Giant related question going forward, he should say “no comment” to keep the fodder away, but I don’t blame him one bit (even in hindsight).

    My two cent.

    • avatar Jake says:

I would love it if one day, the Giants organization and fans knew what it was like to be second banana in their own town. That no matter what happened, they’d be number two.

      One can dream.

  35. avatar Rusty sanchez says:

I’m hoping the jets hit their rock bottom and everything from now on is up for us fans and the organization

  36. avatar damion says:

ok Nick they do tend to get a little lucky
Norwood misses a makeable 42yrd in SB xxv no luck there…huh?

    • avatar Nick says:

So, none of the wins we got on our way to the playoffs the last few seasons coluld be called similarly lucky?

It’s football, good teams seem to get “lucky” becasue they are always in the game and able to take advantage of the luck that comes every teams way from time to time.

When your down 40 lucky things happen too, you just don’t notice.

  37. avatar AKA...Drew says:

I hate the Giants as much as any Jets fan……and I have don’t have an issue with it.

Is it a little over the top? Yea but they have a agreement to work together for years and at times the relationship has been cold. It was a nice gesture moving forward.

  38. avatar damion says:

I’m just sayin you need a Lil’ luck here and there, but the Giants seem to have it made in this department.

  39. avatar damion says:

I can think of another gesture I would like to give the Giants and there wine and cheese Fan base.

  40. avatar Green & White Knight says:

It breaks my heart to say it, but we ARE second to the Giants…until we get a ring in the modern era.

Everyone is 0-0 now. Let it begin.

  41. avatar damion says:

the Jets are second to the GIANTS thats a fact but I dont need to hear it everyday.
    I know!

    • avatar nickballs2000 says:

      +1000 …agree completely Damion.
but you gotta realize, there’s a portion of fans on here that will trash the Jets over everything. they hate Tanny, Rex, the entire starting roster, the color green, etc…you’re banging your head arguing with those people…..they the ones that are happy Giants won, just so they can come on here and say “Told you So”

  42. avatar mike says:

I agree that this was a first step in repairing Jets image. Rex will be quiet this year.

They want to make the team attractive to a certain free agent.

  43. avatar oakshades says:

The NY Media is lame for turning this into controversy and salty Jets fans are lame for getting upset at this. I know Giants fan’s are lame. I know they got lucky this year. Doesn’t matter. Fact is they won and we didn’t. They got two in five years and we got nothing. Take your beating like a fuc*ing man and just hold on to the hope that Rex can turn it around.

  44. avatar damion says:

    MIKE
    YOUR right on Target

The Giants acted like total clowns yeaterday but I guess that’s what happens when you win.
Never saw the yankees act like that and they won six times in the last sixteen years.

    • avatar Randy says:

Yankees are a classy organization while the Giants are always bitter and always want ALL the attention because they are afraid the Jets will steal it.Thats why they keep talking about the Jets. The Yankees are not threatened by the Mets which is why they never talk about them.Giants on the other hand are threatened.

  45. avatar nickballs2000 says:

for anyone that is on here annoyed that Jets fan arent thrilled for this Giants victory…and think we are being petty…
well F U TOO …..theres another team in this town that is getting frontrunners by the hundreds right now, im sure they have room for some more…..its a Jets blog and sorry if some of us arent running around with our Jacobs jerseys on this week….

    • avatar Jets babyyy says:

I’m not from NY but I understand how it feels in a way.

I live in SoCal and after the Angels won the WS 2002 there have been a lot of bandwagons jumping. But the Dodgers are still the team that run the place but for now all they do is stay quiet until we get the right players to do the job ( crossing figures we get a good Owner).

I like Rex attitude but if the players are saying that they have a target on there back then Rex should stay quiet this yr. And f the players don’t preform they way they should and take us to the promise land I will wonder what will be the next excuse.

The Giants were so yesterday now its back to the drawing board, and get the people we need to make this team successful.

      Lets Go Jets.

      • avatar Jets babyyy says:

P.s O yea plus not they have Pujols ain’t that a B, but we have Kemp and Kershaw right now for the teams that I root for it doesn’t look that bright. But from all of them the Jets have the bigger upside and I know they can do damage next yr.

  46. avatar D HOCKER320 says:

anyone else wish that there ended up being a lockout before this season, so that that terrible outcome would not have happened? or was watching football worth it to see even if it was giants over pats?

  47. avatar Matt in Virginia says:

Let me throw this out there based on nothing but my own armchair opinion. When I was watching the Super Bowl, I was struck by how a couple of hits on Brady that normally would have gotten flags were overlooked. I think the NFL gives a little deference to Brady/Belicheck/the Pats given the organizational reputation of Kraft and the Patriots. What other teams have the same stature that could trump this bias? I would say the Giants.
We’re looking at this from the fan level impact, but I think Woody is shooting higher. I think he’s showing that he wants the NY Jets to be considered in the elite class of the league to the other owners and Goodell. (When I say elite, I don’t mean in terms of wins and losses but in terms of well run, contributors to the NFL brand.)

Shhhh you are once again ruining the narrative by posting this, that the Jets are a bunch of classless jerks. Don’t you know that the Giants are the classiest, most conservative buttoned down organization in the history of sports?

  49. avatar damion says:

Nowhere dose it say that the jets and Giants have to be nice to each other so you have to assume Woody is trying to put on a good front. IT just seems the GIANTS have gone out of there way to rub this in the jets face.

FOR the jets to beconsidered as an Elite organization the have to win super bowls.

They have to win there divison always be relievent ie make the playoff every year like steelers pats ravens. They have done this because its been a huge story I think the biggest of the post season. THE JETS MISS THE PLAYOFFS. GASP! oh who knew the football world would be this up in arms….LOL

  50. avatar damion says:

It seems this is a blog for GIANT fans too…its free so anybody can leave there 2 cents I can’t understand why the GIANT fans who’s team won the SB just a few days ago are in here? GO out and party GO get wasted somewhere take the week off or something.

Yeh nice 9-7 season you lucky bast… D

  52. avatar klecko71 says:

1 of the things that bothers me the most…fatcessa as usual.

today again made reference to the jets “sticking their chests out for 2 afc title games…sandwiched around 2 giants super bowls”.

i am gonna call that fat-ass very soon and ask 1 simple question:

if the giants made 2 straight nfc title games, with a rookie head coach and a rookie quarterback…(then a 2nd year of both of course) would he not consider that a very impressive achievement?

much respect to the giants, was a sick run, with A TON of breaks along the way…but to now mock the jets for being proud of making 2 straight title games…is being an ignorant c–k.

    • avatar Bent says:

And here’s how that conversation would go:

“If the giants made 2 straight nfc title games…”

      Click…brrrrr.

Then he would fly off into an anti-Jets rant, emphasizing every point that you just called up to dispute.

      • avatar Lam Jones says:

Bent, what do you think about England in Euro 2012 and who do you think they’ll replace Capelo with?

        • avatar Bent says:

We suck. Should play the young guys with an eye on building for the future and for the love of all that’s holy drop Lampard who has been holding them back for half a decade.

I think it’s a foregone conclusion Harry Redknapp eventually gets the job, maybe even on an immediate part-time basis. What’s unfortunate is that he’s the manager of my favorite team and has really turned them around. He’s actually being investigated for tax fraud right now, so maybe that will delay matters (but that looks like financial naivety on his part rather than anything devious and dishonest).

  53. avatar klecko71 says:

ha indeed…very likely. but sometimes he does let people talk and engage in an intelligent convo.

BUT the other day, he was saying “if miles austin catches that pass the giants probably are done, and if cruz doesnt break one for 99 they could have lost that game”.

THEN he takes a call RIGHT AFTER, and the caller asks “do you think if gronkowski was healthy the pats would have won”.

he says “well now you are playing the what if game, you cant do that, who knows if they win etc” HEY IDIOT YOU JUST PLAYED THE WHAT IF GAME 10 SECONDS BEFORE!!

  54. avatar Bittinho says:

I think the full page ad is a little over the top, the prior statement he made congratulating the Giants was sufficient.

I’m surprised Woody didn’t claim some credit for part of the SB victory since if not for us laying down to the Giants they wouldn’t have been in the playoffs.

  55. avatar joeyboy79 says:

I am glad he gave congrats to the giants,it is the right thing to do and shows class. The giants were solid down the stretch and rallied their team for the big one. They deserve it!

  56. avatar C Low says:

Woody just kneeled before Zod! uck!

  57. avatar JayGo says:

Stupid Bowl is over, Parade is over, season is over, Woody tips the cap to the Giants, and now we move on.

Giants, Giants fans and media taunting of Jets will fizzle over time as baseball takes over and NFL thoughts move on to the combines and draft.

Every NFL team is 0-0 going in to 2012 season. Can Jets improve? Can Giants repeat?

Says here Jets will be back strong. They were and are a playoff calibre team that hit a wall last season which happens to every team every so often. Injury to Mangold and lack of OL depth put us in a hole in that string on the road against Oakland, NE and Ravens. Getting NE Sunday night followed by Broncos Thursday night kicked us back in the hole. Loss to Giants after having them back on their heels, followed by mauling by rejunevated Eagles was like a punch to the gut that we never recovered from. the air was out of the baloon in Miami and the wheels came off the bus. If Holmes doesn’t sit out the end of the game we never hear this clubhouse problem stuff.

New offensive scheme. New offensive coordinator. Help coming to OL. Rex will have D ready. Easiest schedule in Rex era. Mid-pack draft picks. Brady and Pats showing a little age and vulnerbility. Rex pissed. Team pissed. Fans pissed. Can’t have the fans pissed and make money. Sanchez will be under the microscope and must perform or face exile. Buckle up, this should be good.

Giants will be hard pressed to repeat 9-7 record and even make playoffs. They have division winner schedule which is tough. Key players are aging and hurt often. Running game sucks. Eli has NEVER put two good seasons back to back. Eagles likely favored by Vegas to win the division by the time the season starts. Jerry in Dallas as pissed off as you Jet fans. NFC East had a lousy regular season. That will not repeat. If Peyton plays, likely as not he ends up in Washington. Last pick in the draft.

A year from now, a long wait, let’s see who’s taunting who.

    • avatar Randy says:

      +1

Let the Giants keep talking because eventually they will piss off the rest of the NFL, not just the Jets.Funny how the Giants have talked more than the Jets but they call themselves classy.Cowboys/Patriots/Eagles/Jets already can’t stand these guys and eventually teams like the Packers will hate this team too..and when they lose the rest of the NFL will let them hear it.Packers won and didn’t trash talk.Giants have done nothing but trash talk. They already said that 31 teams wish they could play in New York which is enough to piss teams off.Just wait until the Preseason.ANyone who thinks this game is more than just a game is crazy.Jets have a lot of bad blood and I can see a brawl breaking out a lot. They may have to call the game because teams won’t be able to play the game.

      • avatar joeyboy79 says:

No one will be upset with the Giants. They talk but they have the ring, thats the difference. Lets hope we can do the same. Its only when you talk but dont back it up that you are attacked.

  58. avatar Sal Alosi says:

The “congratulations” was long overdue. I mean we play in their stadium for pete’s sake. It’s the least we could do…..

  59. avatar joeyboy79 says:

    Sals trippin again.

  60. avatar LockJawforPresident says:

Hey Bent or Brendan (or anyone for that matter), I was reading the comments above about the stadiums, and I was wondering, could the Jets potentially opt out of their contract with Metlife Stadium, should some crazy deal arise to build a new stadium? I’ve never seen anything that said they could, but it had me curious.

  61. avatar Justin M. says:

JETS FREAKIN SUCK. GMEN BABY. Hey Rex, how does it feel to be kissing our rings instead of BB?

    Love,

    Giants Fans.

  62. avatar Johnny Reefer says:

We did the same ting for TJ, when he went to the Chiefs.

    We are very classy.

  63. avatar Clean Sanchez says:

    Rich people are so classy

  64. avatar C Low says:

Why did God make me a loyal Mets and Jet fan? In the words of the mercenary Willie Randolph in Queens 2007 when about to blow a 7 game lead…..”The champagne will taste that much sweeter….”

  65. avatar Tony says:

Why don’t we all stop thrasing each other. We are NY. Ever since the yankees, Dodgers, and Giants were in NY the team that won the championship owned the town for the year. We support NY and its teams. We are neighbors and should support each other. I am a giant fan and have been since ’55. I cheared for Jet in SB III and will if they are the NY team in the SB course if the the other team is the Giants I will support the Giants.

  66. avatar andy says:

This move by Woody is the classiest thing to come out of J E T S camp in a really long time.

  67. avatar Gary says:

Woody knows who’s house he is in. You better respect the owner.

  68. avatar GIANTMARINE says:

Tip of the cap to the Jets organization. On day Ill expect my team to return the favor. Ill be happy for Jets fans when it happens. Good luck next year.
