Jacobs Would Consider Jets?

by Steiny on February 14th, 2012 at 7:46 am

I want to be a Giant. It was a situation. We were rivals then. There’s no apology needed. I like the way Rex handles his business. The guys on that team I know, know how I feel.

- Brandon Jacobs on confrontation with Rex & on the possibility of becoming a Jet

    Jacobs is a jack wagon

  2. avatar Phil T. says:

So he’s saying Rex was in the wrong? I’m glad to hear he’s willing to forgive without the apology.

And no thanks to the Jets adding him.

  3. avatar Mikey Chase says:

Please no to a fat slow running back who can’t catch a ball out of the backfield to save his life to backup Shonn Greene.

    • avatar Olerud_4_LIfe says:

Thank you. Me not picking him up when bradshaw went down was probably the best fantasy move ive ever made. And i picked up victor cruz too.

  4. avatar Daniel Krauss says:

  6. avatar Bob Vopat-Fan since 1965 says:

You have got to be kidding. Another trouble maker we don’t need. Send Jacobs somewhere else

  7. avatar levi says:

No Jacobs!! No Moss!! No Manning!!

  8. avatar levi says:

With Jacobs,Holmes and Moss on the same team Rex would have to bring in Dr Phil twice a week to keep the team together.

  9. avatar Donna Lorenzo says:

    Nooooooooooooooooooo!

  10. Rex will turn Jacobs into a LB.

  11. avatar Bent says:

Manning, Moss, Jacobs…sounds like a plan. Wait, this is 2007 isn’t it?

  12. avatar patd says:

I have to agree with Jacobs, there is no apology neede. I wouldn’t say he is a bad guy but he is slow. And didn’t he say he wants to be a Giant
This is the 2nd dat Stieny just asks a question. What is the point? Just to see how the droogs will reply.

  13. avatar patd says:

    I expect more from TJB

    • avatar Bent says:

      In what way?

    • avatar PA Matt says:

He’s reporting that Jacobs is open to coming here, andthen turning it over to a disucssion. Pretty common for any active blog. In fact, many places just throw discussion points out there with no impetus at all; at least this has one!

  14. avatar johnnyjetson says:

quick update….wife had the surgery done and it was a 100% success…all cancer removed and shes home resting. thanks guys for your kind words and prayers.

now as far as twinkle toes…no thank you!!!

  15. avatar chitownJet says:

I hope Rex signs him to one year and F’s with him the whole time. Sit him on the bench and torment him during practice

  16. avatar Ed L says:

no moss and no jacobs plleeaassseeeeee…..

  17. avatar spindoctor says:

Jacobs is repulsive….would be as bad a signing as that skunk Jason Taylor.

  18. avatar Zenlaw says:

Jacobs is so desperate for a deal. He’s told the Giants he is willing to take a pay cut. He expresses willingness to play for the Jets. He’ll go anywhere he can get paid.

This guy is a bum. Stay away.

As levi said, no manning, no moss, no jacobs.

  19. avatar mike francesser says:

Jacobs would consider the Jets, but the Jets would have no interest in an old, slow, overrated RB with a big mouth.

  20. avatar ED says:

PLease PASS. We need an apple from the tree, not the barrel.

  21. avatar damion says:

Lets get some real issues on the table like Who are we looking at with the 16th pick drafting, Since the news of Mark Barron injury I’m not sure.TRADING DOWN is an option? I saw rotoworld had us taking J.blackmen. HE CAN’T fall that far can he?

I’ve tried to present the possibility only to be called a nincompoop (or something like that). So the theory has been put out there.

  22. avatar nickballs2000 says:

well atleast we all in agreement that Jacobs is a clown and sux as a player…..keep him in Blew

  23. avatar mikebe1 says:

im sorry guys but jacobs is the exact type of guy i feel and lt feels we need if we r gonna be a tough talking and tough walking team he is our guy.

  24. avatar jsa says:

Jacobs wouldn’t be anywhere close to mytop choice, but I wouldn’t be completely against getting him. We did pretty well in 2009 with two power backs in Jones and Greene.

    on a side note

Happy Mass Effect 3 demo release date people.

    (wait? its valentines day?)

  33. avatar Vinny T says:

    NO BRANDON JACOBS!

  34. avatar Shane L. says:

That’s sweet of him but I wouldn’t take him on this team if he played for free.

  35. avatar ___fense says:

What the hell is he talking about when he says “no apology needed”? He went after Rex after the game and said “It’s time to shut up fat boy” and Rex responded to that. Unless he is proclaiming that he does not need to apologize to Rex, in which case he needs to learn how appologies work: The guy who was wronged is the one who decides this stuff.

  36. avatar Jellis says:

We already have a between the tackles running back with no break away speed, why do we need another one?

  37. avatar Jets Babyy says:

If I where the Jets I would insult him with the Vet minimum and if he accepts let him in, if opens him mouth cut his A$$. Thats how Rex will get his payback lol.

I heard Manning said he would consider the Texans it only makes sense if he wants to send a big F-U to the Colts, Pluss Texans are stacked.

    Go Jets

  38. avatar ben says:

He does not fit the typical Sparano RB…
Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams, Reggie Bush are all more flexible backs with good hands who can make tacklers miss.

  39. avatar damion says:

Ok so nobody wants jacobs….thank goodness if you do you clearly dont see the jets as a real smart oragnization

  40. avatar Jets Babyy says:

if he opens his mouth* I am talking about BJ.

  41. avatar Vinny T says:

This guy (jacobs ) will be out of the league in 2 years. Keep him, there is so much better talent out there… Draft someone and develop them…

  42. avatar damion says:

2yrs might be pushing it…who is really gonna give this guy a deal if the GIANTS dont take him back that’s all you need to know.

  43. avatar jameson says:

I hate to be the first…

But, I would take a flier on Brandon Jacobs. (there, I said it).

While I would prefer a more versatile back to replace LT (my first choice is Doug Martin out of Illinois; reminds me of Ray Rice), we might have a thinner version of that on roster already in McKnight. Joe has shown great wiggle, great hands, and break-away/playmaking speed. If McKnight is who ‘we’ think he is, we might need another bruiser on the roster. Bilal Powell does not fit that bill; as he’s the exact same size as McKnight, only slower.

Face it, Greene gets banged up every season, and we need another goal-line back on the team…especially if we’re going to convey this “Ground and Pound” run-first mentality. So why not Jacobs?

    Because he’s a douche?
    Because he’s outspoken and brash?
If Rex brings him in, it will be with the understanding that he is to be a vocal presence in the locker-room; and an extension of management.

Rex has to let BJ know, that he is the big-dog…and if BJ agrees, he can be an effective henchman, to assist leading the lockerroom.

Holmes isn’t going to step up to BJ. Nobody will. The question is, can BJ come in and postively affect the offense?

  44. avatar Green Lantern says:

Wouldntbe opposed to it and I don’t have a clue why anyone would actually. Put a great line in front of Jacobs, Shonn Greene and McKnight and we could run over anyone.

    • avatar nickballs2000 says:

my problem with Jacobs isnt his mouth…its the fact that 2 of the last 3 years he has a ypc rate under 4. Why should we overpay for that?

      • avatar nickballs2000 says:

oh, and he may be the only player in the league with worse hands than Greene

        • avatar spindoctor says:

alternatively……..Keller’s facemask catches more balls than Jacobs’ hands

        • avatar Bent says:

          Did Becht finally retire?

          • avatar Wolf says:

            Bent,

I was SHOCKED when I saw Becht on the field against the Jets.

            • avatar Bent says:

It’s pretty remarkable that all four 2000 first rounders lasted into 2011.

Maybe only Abe will last into 2012 though.

              • avatar Wolf says:

It was the best draft in Jets history.

                • avatar Wolf says:

You’re forgetting Coles didn’t make it to 2011.

                  • avatar Wolf says:

PK gave us a C- for the 2000 draft.

                    “Grade : C-

Call me a nut. I like Laveranues Coles, who has Deion speed and, at 77 overall, is an almost riskless pick. “I’m not down to my last strike, because I don’t have any strikes left,” Coles said after getting picked by the Jets. “I’m on pins and needles. Generally when a guy gets dismissed he’s not allowed back into football, so I’m thankful for the opportunity. They didn’t bring me in to replace Keyshawn. They brought me in to help with special teams and do whatever the coaches tell me.”

Now, I don’t like leaving the receiver thing alone until the third round, and I don’t like thinking that the Jets will have two sub-6-foot starting wideouts if Coles and Wayne Chrebet start. The big question here is: Is Keyshawn Johnson for John Abraham and Anthony Becht a good trade? Didn’t think you’d think it was.

One more point to make about the events of the last week in New York: The knee-jerkers condemning the Jets for not making Keyshawn the highest-paid receiver in history should remember that it’s that sort of live-for-today thinking that got New York into what one NFL capologist calls the worst financial shape of any team entering the next two years. “They’re the 49ers waiting to happen,” said this cap man. By 2002, two fading stars — quarterback Vinny Testaverde and running back Curtis Martin — will count $20.4 million against the cap. The whole idea behind accumulating more good young players is to get a grip on a salary structure so out-of-control that a nickel back, Ray Mickens, is due to make $5.7 million in 2002. Oh yeah. Chad Pennington. Ask 10 guys in the NFL whether he’s going to be a good NFL starter and you’ll get five guys coming down on each side.”

                    • avatar Bent says:

Good to see the Jets were “in cap jail” back in 2000 too (and of course they were fine because they went to the postseason four times in five years and it was only after 2005 that they really had cap issues.

                  • avatar Bent says:

He wasn’t a first rounder, they got him in the third.

                • avatar SackDance99 says:

I’d go with 1977, which yielded Marvin Powell and Wesley Walker in the 1st 2 rounds, Scott Dierking in the 4th, Joe Klecko in the 6th, Kevin Long in the 7th, Dan Alexander in the 8th and Matt Robinson in the 9th. Powell, Walker and Klecko are TJB HOFers and Dan Alexander probably should be. By any measure, 1977 was one heck of a draft!

      • Who said anything about overpay? they havent even talked figures and he’d be a backup RB, if we want to be Ground and Pound we need another RB and LT’s YPC has been below 5 for a while now and he was helpful in the running game these past two years.
Its obvious you all still feel some type of way about Jacbos.

  45. avatar Vinny T says:

Why don’t we bring mckenzie back while we are at it. Even if we consider bringing in jacobs. UGH! We need new blood!!!!! Not giant vets.

  46. avatar Vinny T says:

    Becht Blew from day 1

  47. avatar Jumbo Elliot says:

No need for Jacobs, he wont be worth the $$$ and he could create locker room problems. It would be sweet to take someone from the hated giants though

  48. avatar Paul says:

Sign Jacobs, Moss, and TO. Now that would help team chemistry.

  49. avatar Paul HAckett says:

    Free Agency/draft plan:

Sign: Safety (Branch,Griffin or Landry), WR (Edwards Colston or someone else) OT
Draft: OLB (upshaw), another safety, MLB, RB

  50. avatar Jetsfan29 says:

Sign him to vet minimum and trade bill Powell for a 5th round pick or less, sign Jared Allen too! Considering our Dline coach is from minnesooota. Then draft safety and oline tes and LBs with all our picks I’m sure we should have a strong OLine depth safety tandem and lbs galore with Keller Cumberland and a blocking tight end! As the guy from the fantasy commercial said “championship”

  51. avatar Jayk says:

brandon jacobs is dumb as dirt. a month ago he was calling rex ryan a loud mouth.
