Jerricho Cotchery will join the 12 Angry Mascots on stage at the Gotham Comedy Club this week for an exciting evening of sports-themed satire and stand-up comedy.
He’ll be participating in sketches with 12AM and sitting down for a live interview to conclude the show. With training camp around the corner, followed by a long season, this is a great opportunity to get an early football fix and share some laughs with a fan favorite.
The Mascots, good friends to TJB, routinely invite Jets players to share the stage, and always find ways to provide more insight while sprinkling in some sarcasm. Former Jets safety Kerry Rhodes and Pro Bowl standout Darrelle Revis have participated in the past.

Former Jets safety Kerry “Hollywood” Rhodes won’t appear on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” with Gang Green for this summer’s training camp, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be missing out on the knocks from his new teammates in Arizona.
Cardinals defensive end Darnell Dockett challenged his team’s newest safety on Twitter yesterday, wondering if Rhodes is making enough time to train before the upcoming season.
From ddockett:
“@kerryrhodes u taking all these trips & [redacted]! I hope u getting ready to play some FOOTBALL cuz antrell rolle would be ready #IMJUSTSAYING”
Rhodes’ Twitter page has been silent since Dockett’s remarks as the sixth-year safety is currently on vacation in the Bahamas.
Since camp is just a few weeks away, we’d like to know what your thoughts are on which training camp battles you are going to be watching most closely … of course the one at LG and S … but what else?
What starting positions are you most interested in seeing contested? What depth positions are intriguing to you?
Now that it’s been a little bit since the draft and there’s some perspective …
Now that you’ve had some time to process the moves in the 2010 Draft with the additions of Wilson, Ducasse, McKnight and Conner, with some of their promising project player UDFAs … coupled with the cuts and trades … what do you think about all those moves? Do you feel the same? Different? Let us know what you think …
It’s going to be a long season, for sure, and it’s a long ways away, but with some of the minicamps finished, rosters beginning to take shape and teams’ identities becoming clear, we seem to have an idea of how some teams are going to shape up. So, on this lazy June Friday afternoon, what better time to posit on the upcoming 2010 schedule?

As Mark reminds, us, last year was something worth celebrating.
Rex Ryan and Mike Tannenbaum have worked hard to better the team this offseason, and it’s hard not to say that this team is much better for the moves they’ve made.
So, not to kill anyone’s buzz, but with a team that’s well, on the whole pretty talented … where are you looking for teams to try and beat the Jets? Up front against the defensive line? Working against the rookie Guard? Pressuring the team’s still young QB?
What’s the one single area that you think the Jets will need to be most concerned about in 2010?
Now that you’ve had a couple days to think about it. We want to hear how you grade the moves that get made over the past weekend in the draft, and in their cuts / trades.
A quick reminder of the Jets moves:
- Signed DE Jason Taylor
- Drafted CB Kyle Wilson, OL Vlad Ducasse, RB Joe McKnight, FB John Conner
- Traded RB Leon Washington to Seattle
- Cut OL Alan Faneca
Add any extra thoughts in the comments.
Without a doubt the trade for Santonio Holmes has upgraded the offense and has seemingly expelled the need for Tannenbaum to draft a receiver. However are we losing sight of the long term future here? Randy Lange explains that drafting a receiver like Dez could still be the ideal way to go.
Some would think the trade for Santonio Holmes would preclude the Jets from taking Bryant. If the Green & White gets him signed long-term, it might. But given Holmes’ off-the-field issues, they could approach him with the same wait-and-see approach they used with Braylon Edwards.
I tend to agree with Randy. While the Jets would have a surplus of receivers, they also need to take into account contracts and the possibility of something going haywire.
As we have already noted Holmes is another violation away from a year suspension (and although I’m sure Ryan and Co. are going to squash those issues, you never know) while Braylon has yet to win the full trust of fans and coaches due to his unsure hands. Of course this doesn’t mean the Jets should draft a reciever in the first considering it isn’t a huge necessity but Tannenbaum should think about the long term and covering all the bases just in case.
Feel free to chime in on the matter.

@LeighBodden: Side Bar– if i played Madden & it was out right now JETS might be my squad LOL
Not trying to step on our good friend Erik Manassy’s toes here — because he does a fantastic job with JetsTwit.com — but this was too good to pass up.
Patriots cornerback Leigh Bodden, resigned by New England last month to keep the Jets offense (among others) in check, professed his desire to get his hands on Rex Ryan’s new-look team.
If that doesn’t place a stamp of emphasis on what Ryan is doing with the Jets for any remaining non-believers, I don’t know what does.
The Jets’ aggressiveness from the front office, down to the field, and around to the media (thumps chest) is opening eyes around the league and boosting pride among the most die-hard of long-suffering fans. General manager Mike Tannenbaum is working closely with Rex to build something special in New York, and not only are people watching — they want in.
Let’s keep this madness in perspective. Bodden wears a division rival’s uniform, and although this can be spun as an innocent, fun-filled offseason tweet, its significance can’t be ignored. Bodden openly professing his admiration for what the Jets are doing from Belichick’s tight ship is a little — shocking? stunning? bizarro-world NFL?
The territory is unfamiliar, is all.
Maybe the NFL Network will have to redo their “Top 10 Snakebitten Franchises” list some time soon.
There are only 12 day until the draft and we want to know what your thinking …
Who do you think the Jets will draft (First Round down to the UDFA’s)? Will Tannenbaum make any trades? If so for who? Will Jason Taylor determine the Jets draft strategy? Will Tanny be brave enough to get into the Top 10?
Hat tip to Marvel for the suggestion!

The folks at EA Sports are giving fans a chance to vote on which teams are featured in this summer’s Madden 11 demo. Voters have the option to recreate the Saints-Colts Super Bowl, or take control of the teams in the AFC and NFC Championship rounds.
Currently, the Jets-Colts pairing has received 20% of the votes, lagging behind the Saints-Colts Super Bowl (37%) and Vikings-Saints NFC Championship (42%).
EA Sports will announce the winners on April 22, so that gives you Madden-loving Jets’ fans a little more than three weeks to help Gang Green make the results interesting.
Thanks to PastaPadre.com — a fantastic blog dedicated to sports-related gaming news — for the heads up.
UPDATE: Through word-of-mouth and the phenomenal efforts of some dedicated fans (looking at you, KentuckyJetFan) the Jets have a fairly strong lead (49% of the votes against 24% and 25%) with the polls closing in about nine days.
