The Money Men at Mint.com crunched some NFL numbers and developed an infographic detailing the (astronomical) prices for supporting your team at a live game, and the New York Jets are at the very top of the pile.
Numbers were calculated for a family of four, including ticket prices, parking, food, and souvenirs, resulting in a $427.42 average across the league. The Jets, however, come in a little more than $200 above the league average, estimated at a whopping $629.90 for a three-hour game.
A three-hour game. That the team might lose, effectively spoiling your day before venturing into a gridlocked parking lot. And it might rain, ruining that $17 cap and $85 jersey you bought. Or someone might spill their beer on you while celebrating a touchdown, making you stink.
Now, you can invest in a new television without explaining yourself. Just print this out and rub it in the faces of all who question your motives.

Last night, the Jets D-line enjoyed some West Coast dining and were so amazed by the size of Sione Pouha’s burrito (as big as his arm!) that they were compelled to twitpic. No after shots though, but I’m sure the big man was able to finish the whole thing.
(Thanks to Eric Manassy’s JetsTwit for this.)

I wanted to do my blogger thing, albeit a day or so late, and put in some work researching Jaguars wide receiver Jason Hill after he called my home “overhyped.” I was finished pretty quickly. Good luck with that Pro Bowl, bro!
What are you guys up to today?

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out…
As John Clayon reported yesterday, the Jets are willing to trade players to clear up cap room. However, we weren’t sure who exactly he was talking about. Now that Lombo is reporting Cotchery is the man the Jets are dangling, I’m not sure how I feel about it.
One part of me feels as if the Jets should make J-Co available because it will give the team room to sign other free agents as Lombo points out. One possibility could be Malcom Floyd, who is probably and upgrade over J-Co. The Jets showed interest in Floyd before the team signed Plax.
On the flip side J-Co is one of the longest tenured Jets, and a leader in the locker room. He has been with the team through the good times and the bad. From a selfish standpoint if this were to be the Jets year, I would want J-Co to be apart of it.
I’m torn. What do you guys think? Are you open to the idea of trading Cotchery if it means signing other free agents?
UPDATE 12:29 PM: As tomg and VT Tim both pointed out in the comment section, during Mike Tannenbaum’s press conference, he referenced Holmes, Plax, Dustin Keller and LT in talking about passing game. No mention of Cotch.
UPDATE 12:45: Tannenbaum deflected the matter saying “I won’t comment on a specific player … [but] … I would expect more transactions between now and the Cowboy game.”
UPDATE 12:56: Adam Schefter just tweeted Rand Moss has decided to retire, officially ending speculation that he will join the Jets this season.
Interesting.
I wonder who the Jets are dangling. My guess would be Bryan Thomas who counts for $3.7 million against the cap.
Thoughts? Who do you think the Jets are looking to trade?
Jenny Vrentas of The Star-Ledger is reporting it’s a one-year deal.
Stay tuned…
Adam Schefter is reporting that the “17″ in the contract is for the number 17 Plax wore with the Giants — and likely will wear with the Jets.
