TJB Radio Show: Today at 2!

by Corey Griffin on October 29th, 2009 at 10:37 am

Another week, back on the grind at the TJB Radio Show. Unfortunately, we tried to get a player this show but were unable due to scheduling, but we’re trying here for you. Still, we’ve got a lot to talk about.

Show Starts: 2:00 PM
CALL IN NUMBER: (347) 857-4586

Make sure you check in on BlogTalkRadio.com/TheJetsBlog or you can go directly to Thursday’s episode.

38-0 will buoy any team’s confidence, but the Jets face a much stiffer test this week than the sadsack Oakland Raiders. How will the team respond in it’s first game against a good team without Pro Bowlers Kris Jenkins and Leon Washington? That’s the question all Jets fans are wondering and we’ll talk that and more on this week’s edition of the TJB Radio show.

Join me in the show chat on the show’s website, e-mail me at TJBWeekends@gmail.com or find me on Twitter at CGriffin415. Contact us before, during and after the show. We’ll read your tweets and e-mails on the air!

TJB Radio Show: Today at 2!

by Corey Griffin on October 22nd, 2009 at 12:18 pm

It’s Thursday and that means it’s time for the TJB Radio Show. This week, we’ll be joined by Michael Lombardi from the National Football Post to talk all about the freefalling New York Jets.

Show Starts: 2:00 PM
CALL IN NUMBER: (347) 857-4586

Make sure you check in on BlogTalkRadio.com/TheJetsBlog or you can go directly to Thursday’s episode.

The Jets’ season is teetering on the brink after a dismal 16-13 overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills. Kris Jenkins out for the year, the shine is off rookie QB Mark Sanchez and rookie head coach Rex Ryan, and the Jets have lost three straight — two in the division — after starting out 3-0. What’s next? We’ll talk about it in the next edition of the TJB Radio Show.

Special guest: National Football Post’s Michael Lombardi

TJB Radio Show Wrapup

by Corey Griffin on October 17th, 2009 at 10:36 am

It’s a couple days late, but we’ve got the wrapup of the latest edition of the TJB Radio Show wrapping up Week 5 and looking ahead to Week 6. Newsday’s Bob Glauber made time to join us and share some great insights.

Some topics from the show:

  • Who’s fault was Monday night’s loss exactly?
  • Rex will learn from his clock management mistakes — believe it. He’s too good of a coach not to.
  • Bob brought up that the defense will right itself, but it’s probably somewhere in the middle of coming down to the Earth and failing to live up to expectations.
  • Speaking of Rex, the way he blamed the practice squad was inexcusable. It’s HIS responsibility to prepare the practice squad, so if they fail, he and the coaches fail.
  • The Jets need to knock the Bills off of their season’s edge and get back the respect they had going into last week and right their season’s ship.
  • Will the Jets face wildcat formations as the season goes on?
  • The Jets had better — and WILL — get in Trent Edwards’ face.
  • I want to see NFL films, Ray Lewis-level hits on this Bills team. Let’s see Bart Scott and company flatten people.
  • This game needs to be a beatdown, plain and simple.

See you next week, WEDNESDAY at 2:00 p.m. at BlogTalkRadio.com/TheJetsBlog!

PSA: TJB Radio Show

by Corey Griffin on October 14th, 2009 at 1:33 am

Okay, so blame this one on the fact that I’m an idiot.

I didn’t think enough to realize literally every media member  and player (which is our next big goal) covering the Jets is busy on Wendesdays at 2:00 p.m. So yeah, that’s on me. My bad. My fault. My mistake.

Anyhow. What we’ll do is just move the show to THURSDAYS at 2:00 p.m. and we’ll (hopefully) be able to get any player or beat writer you guys want.

I’m sorry if this F’s up any of your plans. If it makes you feel better, it certainly screwed up mine. (I know that it didn’t make you feel better at all. Sorry for bringing it up.)

Thursday we’re aiming for a big show because of the loss and the upcoming game. What guest would you gusy like?

AUDIBLE: Radio Show Housekeeping

by Corey Griffin on October 11th, 2009 at 11:35 am

First of all, I just want to thank everyone who commented on the suggestion post last week. Your thoughts and ideas were definitely not in vain. The show will have better structure moving forward with a defined mailbag segment and the new Pick Six segment. I really appreciate the ideas and the help.

That said, just some brief notes here for you loyal readers/listeners/commenters out there.

  • As I mentioned briefly in yesterday’s post, due to the overwhelming listening response to Thursday’s afternoon show, the show will be PERMENANTLY moving to Wednesday afternoon’s at 2:00 p.m. No schedule concerns or questions about when the next show is. Now you’ll know where to check every Wednesday for your TJB Radio Show fix.
  • I’m looking to find someone to help out with some asthetic aspects of the show. If you can help out, please e-mail me at TJBWeekends@gmail.com or post in the comments below. The best submissions will definitley be rewarded in some fashion.
  1. Theme Song
  2. Graphic Logo (So we can advertise on the front of the BTR page)
  3. An intro clip for the Pick Six program/mailbag segment

Hope you’re all having a great weekend. Any questions about the show or questions FOR the show, you know the e-mail. Go Jets.

TJB Radio Show Wrap-up

by Corey Griffin on October 10th, 2009 at 12:29 pm

Well, another episode of the TJB Radio Show is in the books. We didn’t get the guests we were hoping for — the Cleveland blogger just flat-out never responded and there was a technical mishap getting Newsday’s Bob Glauber on the show, but we’ll make sure he does get back on later on in the season.

Some topics from the show:

  • We took some of your advice into the show, trying to structure the show more efficiently with two new segments: a mailbag and the Pick Six (a six pack of questions surrounding the Jets)
  • This guy Braylon Edwards was talked about. Go figure.
  • Can they fix the running game? Will Braylon help?
  • How will Braylon affect Sanchez?
  • Is Ndamukong Suh an option for the Jets in the draft going forward?
  • Which Miami pass rusher should the Jets really be worried about?
  • How big will Calvin Pace’s return be?
  • PROGRAMMING: We’ll be moving full-time to Wednesday afternoons starting this coming week. More details to follow in a separate host tomorrow so stay tuned.

Got a couple e-mails (one from a DANISH Jets blogger haha), a good number of chat questions, and a record number of calls. So keep it coming, folks!

See you next week, WEDNESDAY at 2:00 p.m. at BlogTalkRadio.com/TheJetsBlog!

TJB Radio Show: Today at 2PM!

by Corey Griffin on October 8th, 2009 at 9:19 am

Big things in Jets land.. So big that we’re moving this week’s show to Thursday afternoon.. and SO big that we’ve got not one.. but TWO guests!

Show Starts: 2:00 PM
CALL IN NUMBER: (347) 857-4586

Make sure you check in on BlogTalkRadio.com/TheJetsBlog or you can go directly to today’s episode.

Well, it was a disappointing week after the Jets’ 14-point loss to the Saints… That is, until beleaguered Browns wideout Braylon Edwards joined the ranks of the Green and White. The trade for Edwards sent shockwaves through the legions of Jets fans and the NFL. We’ll talk about that, the MNF game against Miami coming up and that humiliating bet that I somehow have to live up to.

Special Guests: Newsday’s Bob Glauber and hopefully a Cleveland Browns blogger/writer.

Last week we got some great e-mail and chat questions so please keep them coming! Join me in the show chat on the show’s website, e-mail me at TJBWeekends@gmail.com or find me on Twitter at CGriffin415. Contact us before, during and after the show. We’ll read your tweets and e-mails on the air!

3-0 is no mirage. The New York Jets are a contender and I’m very close to becoming one exposed blogger. We’ll talk about a potential season-making win in the elements and look forward to a matchup of the unbeatens between the Jets and the Saints in Week 4.

TJB Radio Show: Episode 6 WRAPPED

by Corey Griffin on September 29th, 2009 at 12:12 am

Week 6 of the TJB Radio is a wrap. The Star Ledger’s Manish Mehta joined us and made some great points. Make sure you check in to hear.

Some topics from the show:

  • The win against the Titans is a season-making type of win.
  • What’s up with the run game and the offensive line?
  • This defense is even more like the Ravens’ than we originally thought.
  • The Saints are the best all-around team the Jets will face this year.
  • If the Jets can win, they have an incredibly easy slate of games leading up to the bye week and could get on a big roll to end the first half.
  • I really hope the Jets win so I don’t have to go streaking.
  • PROGRAMMING NOTE: The show will be moving to Tuesdays for the next month starting TUESDAY, Oct. 6 at 8:00 p.m. EST.

Another good turnout in the chat room and in the mailbag but we need more call-ins! No calls this week! C’mon guys, whatever you want to ask me, whatever is on your mind — you can ask me or the beat writer/guest. Is there a reason you guys aren’t calling in? What can I do to make it easier for you guys to get on the air? Let me know! I want to hear it.

I’ll be making a series of posts this week  about the show in order to improve it and get your thoughts/opinions/suggestions for the show to make it better and help it evolve.

See you next week, TUESDAY at 8:00 p.m. EST at BlogTalkRadio.com/TheJetsBlog!
