3-0 is no mirage. The New York Jets are a contender and I’m very close to becoming one exposed blogger. We’ll talk about a potential season-making win in the elements and look forward to a matchup of the unbeatens between the Jets and the Saints in Week 4.
Special Guest: Star Ledger’s Manish Mehta
Last week we got some great e-mail and chat questions so please keep them coming! Join me in the show chat on the show’s website, e-mail me at TJBWeekends@gmail.com or find me on Twitter at CGriffin415. Contact us before, during and after the show. We’ll read your tweets and e-mails on the air!
Week 5 of the TJB Radio is a wrap. Unfortunately, Gary Westwick of The Tennessean didn’t get a chance to come on, so I apologize to those of you who were looking forward to that.
Some topics from the show:
- I owe Jets fans an apology for doubting the team’s ability to back up their words. The lesson: I know nothing.
- Jets fans deserve more than a round of applause for the show they put on in the stands last week.
- Just how big was the Pats win? In a word: HUUUUUUUUGE, Tom (Upstate NY joke).
- How does Chris Johnson affect the Jets’ blitz-happy scheme?
- The Jets should be handle the Titans’ wide recievers as none of them jump off the page at me.
- The run game will continue to lack in style going forward, but that’s for a number of reasons. Teams respected their deep game much more last year with Brett Favre, so the defenses are much closer to the line of scrimmage this year. Also, coaches and players know the Jets are going to run, run, run so there’s no reason for them not to put 8 or 9 in the box. Also, Mark Sanchez is still a rookie so teams are going to dare him to beat them and try to stop the run.
- Are the 2-0 Jets hungrier than a desperate 0-2 Tennessee Titans team?
- Should the Jets give up on Brad Smith? This year is his make-or-break year and if he fails to show in the passing game, it will come down to him vs. Wallace Wright on special teams next offseason.
- Oh, and Michael Ventre is misguided, ignorant, ill-informed and wrote an inflammatory piece because it’s all he knows how to do. Hope he gets trampled by his high horse.
- PROGRAMMING NOTE: It’s a short turnaround for the show as next week’s show will be MONDAY, Sept. 28 at 8:00 p.m. EST due to a scheduling conflict. The show will be moving back to Tuesdays for the month of October the following week because of a change in my work schedule.
Thanks to Justin for figuring out the push to talk button works and sorry it wasn’t the show you were looking for, but great question regardless. Some great e-mails this week from Bent, Kirk the Jerk, and Mark Bundgaard (Sorry, I didn’t read your e-mail specifically because I felt the talk throughout the show was basically your e-mail!). We got some GREAT chat room questions too from a number of people, so thanks for that too! Sorry Newman for the Seinfeld references — I couldn’t help it.
You guys make this show better! See you next week, MONDAY at 8:00 p.m. EST at BlogTalkRadio.com/TheJetsBlog!
It’s time for another turn around Jets Nation on the TJB Radio Show!

Is it true? Are the Jets really 2-0? Certainly looks that way. After frustrating Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots en route to a 16-9 victory, the Jets turn their focus to the winless Tennessee Titans. A year ago, the Jets ended the Titans’ perfect season down in Nashville. Now Tennessee heads north looking to get back on track and derail the Jets’ good feelings. We’ll review the Jets’ landmark win over New England, I’ll eat some crow, and we’ll look forward to Sunday’s title against the Titans.
Oh, and a special rant on the biggest douche in the media: Michael Ventre.
Special guest: The Tennessean’s Gary Estwick
Gary will join us at 8:15, so make sure you get there early. AND REMEMBER! This show is about you guys! So e-mail me at TJBWeekends@gmail.com or find me on Twitter at CGriffin415. Contact us before, during and after the show. We’ll read your tweets and e-mails on the air!
ALSO: There’s an in-show chat for all you listeners. I’ll try to answer questions either in the chat or on the air!
Week 3 of the TJB Radio is a wrap. Brian Bassett joined in to talk Week 1.
Some topics from the show:
- Needless to say, I was not happy with Kerry Rhodes’ declaration earlier Thursday. If he’s going to talk this big, he’d better back it up on Sunday.
- Did Kerry put his foot in his mouth?
- How questionable is New England’s defense?
- Will Brian Schottenheimer be able to outdo the crowned prince of schematic football: Bill Belichick?
- The Jets’ special teams should be a big advantage for them.
- It’s a little too early in the season for a game with this much hype, isn’t it?
- Can I get anyone’s first names right?
- Next week’s show will be THURSDAY, Sept. 24 at 8:00 p.m. EST. What guest do you guys want on the show?
Thanks to John from Florida, Dan from Chicago, Dan from Jersey, and the last caller who’s name we didn’t get. Sorry we had to rush but make sure to call back next week! Also, we were having some technical problems, so e-mail was late to update. I saw we got two after the show was already over, but keep them coming! Feel free to send them in before the show and we’ll make sure to save them.
You guys make this show better! Thanks again to Brian for stopping by too! See you next week, THURSDAY at 8:00 p.m. EST at BlogTalkRadio.com/TheJetsBlog!

Well that was quite a debut by Rex Ryan’s Jets. After an absolute thumping of the Houston Texans, Rex and Co. head home for the annual week 2 barometer: the New England Patriots. Ryan said before camps even began that he was not here to kiss Bill Belichick’s rings, but now it’s time to see if he can shove those rings… Well, you know where. There’s been a lot of talk from the Jets’ side this week, particularly safety Kerry Rhodes’ assertion that he wants to “embarrass” the Pats. Tom Brady’s response? “Talk is cheap.” Well-said, Tom. Needless to say, this week is being built up, at least from the New York side, as a must-win game. Can they do it? Was last week a mirage? How good is the Pats’ defense? What happens if the Jets end up in third down as much as last week? So many questions! So little time! Join us once more for the TJB Radio Show!
Special guest: TJB founder Brian Bassett

Week 3 of the TJB Radio is a wrap. Greg Bishop from the New York Times joined in to talk Week 1.
Some topics from the show:
- What to expect this week and the next few?
- How the Jets will use second TEs and RBs to stop Mario Williams.
- Why Shonne Greene likely won’t play much.
- Will this be a positive step forwards or a big step back?
- Vernon Gholston will play a major role for this team Sunday.
- Will the Jets take extra shots at an injury-prone Matt Schaub?
- How will Brian Jim Leonhard work off Kerry Rhodes and how will Bart Scott work off David Harris?
- Next week’s show will be THURSDAY, Sept. 17 at 8:00 p.m. EST. What guest do you guys want on the show?
We got an e-mail and a disconnected call but I want to hear from you guys MORE next week! You guys make this show better! Thanks again to Greg Bishop for stopping by too! See you next week, THURSDAY at 8:00 p.m. EST at BlogTalkRadio.com/TheJetsBlog!

The preseason is over, the roster is cut down, and the regular season is finally here. The Jets prepare for their season opener against the Texans in Houston. There’s a whole host of questions: How will Mark Sanchez fare now that the games count? Are the preseason penalties a sign of things to come? Can D’Brickashaw Ferguson hold fellow 2006 top-pick Mario Williams at bay? Just how good is this defense? Can the wideouts make plays against top defenders? Who will make up for Calvin Pace and Shaun Ellis’ absences? So many question and only one hour to answer them!
Special guest: New York Times’ Greg Bishop
